Appreciates the fans. DBZA wasn't made as an insult to the series but as a tribute to the series they love. I grew up with Dragon Ball Z I watched as a kid, Abridged got me back into the series. I watched the original series after watching Abridged after I finished Abridged.
The show runners are real nerds. The noises that android 14 makes are actually image files that convert to sound and you can feed them back into a program and see what it looks like

Im utterly shocked that nobody has mentioned that in the actual dub of the film, android 13 legit says to trunks, "Dont you lecture me with your 30 dollar hair cut - Goku dies!" To which trunks responds "We'll see, you Red Ribbon Redneck"
So, in case you werent aware, the reason this movie appears later in the watch order is essentially because, not only does this movie directly foreshadow Cell with the "green one in the sublab" bit and the joke with baby cell going "graaagh," but Android 13 is pretty much directly paralleling how Cell operates. Hes a Biomechanical being who attains a much stronger form by absorbing the pieces from two other Androids who were the prior antagonists. Kind of spoils Cell's whole absorbtion and perfection gimmick

My favorite underrated joke is Krillin watching Goku with the Spirit Bomb and saying “oh right, Spirit Saiyan……….. what?” Like it seems like it makes sense until you realize nothing like that ever happened and it won’t happen again lol
Actually it ended up happening in GT and Super. I don't remember the GT one, might've been a fight against Baby Vegeta, but in Super it happens when Trunks creates the Sword of Hope and cuts Fused Zamasu in half.

So actually, iirc they reuse the idea in Super, during the ToP when Jiren essentially throws the spirit bomb back at Goku. He survives it by basically absorbing it and kinda kickstarts his first UI “transformation”

He even states very clearly that the Spirit Bomb did not contain enough energy to power Goku's state at the time. Ultra Instinct came from within.
Funny note and hopefully I'm remembering this right, but Cell's little gurgle at the start was done entirely so Takahata could be put in the credits as a VA, as he doesn't actually have a speaking role character in this movie. I think he mentioned it in his commentary series when he watched the movie, unless he had already joined back up with Lani and Kaiser on FourStarBento by this point, but I can't quite remember. But yeah this is one of my favorite movies from TFS, just great overall. Because, I mean, *look at his Trucker Hat.*

It's implied in the King Piccolo arc that Shen took 'heavy inspiration' from King Piccolo when developing Sky Dancing and the Dodonpa (effectively copies of techniques used by King Piccolo when he ragdolled them and their master), which is probably why Roshi refuses to learn/use them out of principle, as he views them as 'evil' techniques. Even though he could, if he wanted to, pick them up in like 5 minutes at this point...
My new head Canon for dbz, all the movies are from krillins point of view, and they are either from books he writes to try and get rich or from things he tells women to try to get laid. I mean, these guys (goku) have publicly saved the world several time by now between dragonball and dragonball z so they have to be at least known. Broly is the very last movie. There is a backstory in the movies about yajirobe and korin getting together, getting in a fight, getting engaged, planning the wedding and then being married. Plus broly has spoilers for villains in the other movies.

Lastly, I was curious about how you were going to handle the last episode, cause it's four parts and super long. As sad as it always is to see the ending, it's always the best part, so I am looking forward to it.
Hey! As people have pointed out, the second Cooler movie was actually placed pretty early in the Season 3 watch list, but I guess since the names of the movies are pretty similar it's a bit confusing. The first one being Revenge of Cooler and the second being Return of Cooler. Btw, really looking forward to the Hellsing Abridged reactions sometime in the future!
I thought of that when Vegeta said a particular thing in this movie (which I'm keeping vague in case she checks the replies), since it was a direct reference to the second Cooler film.
Fun fact, the noises made by that one android are basically audio conversions of various images. Supposedly the original video has a link in the description to convert them back, but the commentaries do that for you.
Something to note about the movies: the movie villains usually represent a canon villain in some way. Android 13 represents Cell. A secret creation of Dr. Gero, built to become stronger by absorbing two other such creations. In Cell's case, he needs to absorb 17 and 18 for the infinite power generating cores buult into their bodies to increase his body's ability to output that power and his own. In 13's case, the memory chips and power cores of 14 and 15, which presumably also have the capacity to generate endless energy, to upgrade himself to Super 13. But, because he's purely mechanical, he lacks Cell's regenration. Lord Slug is, as noted in the movie, a parallel to Demon King Piccolo, who is Mr. Piccolo's father. An old, decrepit Namekian who has lost much of his former strength due to his age, who is one half of a different, stronger Namekian. Slug, like DK Piccolo, uses the Dragon Balls to return his body to the prime of his youth and restore his strength, as well as his *impeccable* singing voice, to what they once were. Slug and DK Piccolo also both had Goku punch atraight through their gut, though Slug didn't spit oit an egg so his son could take revenge (which was Mr. Piccolo's origin). Cooler is, obviously, a parallel to Frieza. A mighty alien warlord with a flamboyant elite combat team, determined to make the Saiyans extinct. Garlic Jr, I'm not sure about, but he may be a parallel to Emperor Pilaf, Goku's very first villain, bent on world domination, but actually evil. And Goku's "He punched me in the dick! Why?! Why did he punch me in the *dick?!"* line is a callback to Cooler 2.
You are right, that was Goku's other kid, Goten, and Gohan grown up Honestly you could already do the cooler one, in the original and the abridged it comes before this one, but as people have pointed out they're not canon so it doesn't really matter Is the movie eradication of Christmas in the list? Cooler 2 was supposed to be first but ok Reasons will be explained when you watch it because I can point out the jokes refranced in this movie to cooler.
I don't know who told you that about Gohan, but that's not the reason he doesn't dodge. The reason is said a few times to be Pavlovian conditioning (hence why both he and Piccolo say "damn you Pavlov"), which is when you've been conditioned to act a certain way when being in some situations. In Gohan's case, he got so used to getting beaten up by Piccolo yelling "DODGE" that his both instinctively freezes up when he should be dodging!
With a spring, a locking mechanism, and a magnet, a back scabbard could work. The magnet would pull it in while putting it away, and the locking spring could be released to assist in a draw from the back. But with no modification, a sword in a scabbard that's just secured at the top, not the bottom, could also be drawn from the shoulder. But it looks like his is spring assisted, just the way he draws it.
Useful trivia: "In cannon" of the actual, official dragon-ball Z universe, none of the movies are "cannon." They do not happen in the main timeline and for narrative purposes, don't exist. However: In the DBZA version, all of the movies are "slotted" in the series of events where they would have - roughly - happened between episodes, and are treated as cannon, and referenced. For example Vageta referencing the fact he gets punched in the dick a bunch happened in the second cooler movie, which happens before this movie. In the Broly movie, they make a bunch of call outs to previous earlier movies.

6:45 Roshi does go by different names in the original story, including "Mutenroshi", which means "Incincible Elder Master" in japanese, or "Kame Sennin", which means "Turtle Hermit" in Japanese. "Master Roshi" is just a name given in the west to make it easier to say. Roshi has other aliases too, BUT, what he has on his driver's license is the name "Mutenroshi", confirmed by Roshi himself.

Gohan was this young adult in that foreshadowing scene in a supersaiyan form) when they were "training" together for next saga. So the thing about all of the movies is they take place in a alternate timeline because of multiverse theory. Technically none of the movies are Canon except for the newest Broly movie cause they don't take place in the main Dragon Ball story line.
super hero should also be canon. battle of gods and RoF are acceptable as short versions of the anime's retelling of those films. I'm not sure if son goku and his friends return is canon but it might be.

This is the only time you get to see anything after the Cell Games, since TFS stopped making DBZA before the final two arcs (Great Saiyaman and Boo) - you only get to see Goten and Teenage Gohan in one scene (And it's a gag about Goku getting punched in the balls so hard he can't have kids anymore, so his future second son gets erased from history.)
The Super Saiyan Trio theme from the actual movie is one of the most magical themes in DBZ. I highly recommend you listen to it. And i can't recommend the original movie enough. The DBZ movies always had good soundtracks.
Don't forget they continue the DBZ content just with non-abridged content in DragonShortz most notably HFIL (home for infinite losers, which is how they censored "hell" for the english dub of the actual show) which is like a sitcom starring a bunch of the dead villains in hell while the red and blue german orcs from the snake way filler try to rehabilitate them.

So it is a shame they cut the ending fight song so much. That song is called "From Wharf To Wilds" from the game Bastion. The people who made that game are the same ones behind Hades and Hades 2. Honestly the entire soundtrack I say is their best work ever. It is worth looking up or watching the Bastion Trailer with it. "Bastion - Launch Trailer"
The other person who saved the people would've been Trunks (who, to be fair, hadn't been clearly established as present yet), not Master Roshi. Master Roshi doesn't actually know how to fly like the other fighters. Back during OG Dragon Ball, when Roshi was still relevant as a fighter, flight was an exceptionally special skill that very few people knew how to use. Even Goku didn't know how to fly throughout the vast majority of the show prior to DBZ.
Fun Fact: Android 14 is only the second Character to not be voiced by a Human (First is of course Android 19). 14 is voiced by a Program that converts Images into Sound.
The original movies are for sure not canon, but you could go either way with these. They did a pretty good job at mixing them in and having spots where you can watch them.

you should have probably watched the Coolers Revenge and Return of Cooler movies (along with some others way before that for chronological order) because in this one here is a joke where goku asked why he punched him in the dick to which vegeta said "its not funny now is it kakarot". Thats a reoccuring joke from Return of Cooler. Its funny to see these throughout dbz abridged because the creators do this very often.
The creator commentary was done for the upload order, that doesn't always match the plotline/reference order, which doesn't matter as it is expected to have already seen the series before watching the commentary...
That was actually Trunks who saved the other group of people. Roshi can't fly. The technique to fly is a skill taught by the Crane school of martial arts, Roshi's rivals. Because of this Roshi has always stubbornly refused to learn how to use the ability.
I think it's ok you're watching the movies out of order since they're mostly self contained. The series ending is a little bittersweet but you'll have saved a few more gems for afterwards than most people. Kai 1, 2, 3 and 3.5 are entire seasons in ~5 minutes, but Kai 2.9 is the Garlic Jr mini-arc that they skipped over, the follow up to movie 1
Funfact: In the original Android 14 does not speak, and the nasty sound he makes here when he "speaks" is created when words are displayed as noise. So he speaks in pictures.

Hey! As people have pointed out, the second Cooler movie was actually placed pretty early in the Season 3 watch list, but I guess since the names of the movies are pretty similar it's a bit confusing. The first one being Revenge of Cooler and the second being Return of Cooler.
Btw, really looking forward to the Hellsing Abridged reactions sometime in the future!
I thought of that when Vegeta said a particular thing in this movie (which I'm keeping vague in case she checks the replies), since it was a direct reference to the second Cooler film.

Fun fact, the noises made by that one android are basically audio conversions of various images. Supposedly the original video has a link in the description to convert them back, but the commentaries do that for you.
Something to note about the movies: the movie villains usually represent a canon villain in some way.
Android 13 represents Cell. A secret creation of Dr. Gero, built to become stronger by absorbing two other such creations. In Cell's case, he needs to absorb 17 and 18 for the infinite power generating cores buult into their bodies to increase his body's ability to output that power and his own. In 13's case, the memory chips and power cores of 14 and 15, which presumably also have the capacity to generate endless energy, to upgrade himself to Super 13. But, because he's purely mechanical, he lacks Cell's regenration.
Lord Slug is, as noted in the movie, a parallel to Demon King Piccolo, who is Mr. Piccolo's father. An old, decrepit Namekian who has lost much of his former strength due to his age, who is one half of a different, stronger Namekian. Slug, like DK Piccolo, uses the Dragon Balls to return his body to the prime of his youth and restore his strength, as well as his *impeccable* singing voice, to what they once were. Slug and DK Piccolo also both had Goku punch atraight through their gut, though Slug didn't spit oit an egg so his son could take revenge (which was Mr. Piccolo's origin).
Cooler is, obviously, a parallel to Frieza. A mighty alien warlord with a flamboyant elite combat team, determined to make the Saiyans extinct.
Garlic Jr, I'm not sure about, but he may be a parallel to Emperor Pilaf, Goku's very first villain, bent on world domination, but actually evil.
And Goku's "He punched me in the dick! Why?! Why did he punch me in the *dick?!"* line is a callback to Cooler 2.
Garlic Jr was also (kinda) a parallel to Raditz, but only because he forced Goku and Piccolo to team up. (And Gohan is involved in both cases)

Reasons will be explained when you watch it because I can point out the jokes refranced in this movie to cooler.
I don't know who told you that about Gohan, but that's not the reason he doesn't dodge. The reason is said a few times to be Pavlovian conditioning (hence why both he and Piccolo say "damn you Pavlov"), which is when you've been conditioned to act a certain way when being in some situations. In Gohan's case, he got so used to getting beaten up by Piccolo yelling "DODGE" that his both instinctively freezes up when he should be dodging!
Plus, yelling, "DODGE," is more distracting than helpful.
It was Trunks who saved the other people. Roshi can't fly. Because flying is a technique of the crane school he refuses to learn.

With a spring, a locking mechanism, and a magnet, a back scabbard could work. The magnet would pull it in while putting it away, and the locking spring could be released to assist in a draw from the back. But with no modification, a sword in a scabbard that's just secured at the top, not the bottom, could also be drawn from the shoulder. But it looks like his is spring assisted, just the way he draws it.
Useful trivia: "In cannon" of the actual, official dragon-ball Z universe, none of the movies are "cannon." They do not happen in the main timeline and for narrative purposes, don't exist. However:
In the DBZA version, all of the movies are "slotted" in the series of events where they would have - roughly - happened between episodes, and are treated as cannon, and referenced. For example Vageta referencing the fact he gets punched in the dick a bunch happened in the second cooler movie, which happens before this movie. In the Broly movie, they make a bunch of call outs to previous earlier movies.
Technically, the events in Dead Zone did, indeed, occur, since Garlic JR and the spice boys show up for the Aquamist filler arc.

6:45 Roshi does go by different names in the original story, including "Mutenroshi", which means "Incincible Elder Master" in japanese, or "Kame Sennin", which means "Turtle Hermit" in Japanese.
"Master Roshi" is just a name given in the west to make it easier to say. Roshi has other aliases too, BUT, what he has on his driver's license is the name "Mutenroshi", confirmed by Roshi himself.

Gohan was this young adult in that foreshadowing scene in a supersaiyan form) when they were "training" together for next saga. So the thing about all of the movies is they take place in a alternate timeline because of multiverse theory. Technically none of the movies are Canon except for the newest Broly movie cause they don't take place in the main Dragon Ball story line.

Movie Goku is always so brutal with his final kills.
This is the only time you get to see anything after the Cell Games, since TFS stopped making DBZA before the final two arcs (Great Saiyaman and Boo) - you only get to see Goten and Teenage Gohan in one scene (And it's a gag about Goku getting punched in the balls so hard he can't have kids anymore, so his future second son gets erased from history.)

The Super Saiyan Trio theme from the actual movie is one of the most magical themes in DBZ. I highly recommend you listen to it. And i can't recommend the original movie enough. The DBZ movies always had good soundtracks.
Don't forget they continue the DBZ content just with non-abridged content in DragonShortz most notably HFIL (home for infinite losers, which is how they censored "hell" for the english dub of the actual show) which is like a sitcom starring a bunch of the dead villains in hell while the red and blue german orcs from the snake way filler try to rehabilitate them.

So it is a shame they cut the ending fight song so much. That song is called "From Wharf To Wilds" from the game Bastion. The people who made that game are the same ones behind Hades and Hades 2. Honestly the entire soundtrack I say is their best work ever. It is worth looking up or watching the Bastion Trailer with it. "Bastion - Launch Trailer"
The other person who saved the people would've been Trunks (who, to be fair, hadn't been clearly established as present yet), not Master Roshi. Master Roshi doesn't actually know how to fly like the other fighters. Back during OG Dragon Ball, when Roshi was still relevant as a fighter, flight was an exceptionally special skill that very few people knew how to use. Even Goku didn't know how to fly throughout the vast majority of the show prior to DBZ.

Fun Fact: Android 14 is only the second Character to not be voiced by a Human (First is of course Android 19). 14 is voiced by a Program that converts Images into Sound.
The Broly movie should arguably be near 56-57 ish iirc, a huge spoiler is in there that only comes near the end.
Feels like a necessary side note here. The creators of dbza have stated that all the movies are their own timeline separate from the main story.
The original movies are for sure not canon, but you could go either way with these. They did a pretty good job at mixing them in and having spots where you can watch them.

you should have probably watched the Coolers Revenge and Return of Cooler movies (along with some others way before that for chronological order) because in this one here is a joke where goku asked why he punched him in the dick to which vegeta said "its not funny now is it kakarot". Thats a reoccuring joke from Return of Cooler. Its funny to see these throughout dbz abridged because the creators do this very often.

I think it's ok you're watching the movies out of order since they're mostly self contained. The series ending is a little bittersweet but you'll have saved a few more gems for afterwards than most people. Kai 1, 2, 3 and 3.5 are entire seasons in ~5 minutes, but Kai 2.9 is the Garlic Jr mini-arc that they skipped over, the follow up to movie 1

hi there new to your channel, since your getting close to the end of dbz abriged i thought id give a tip for the next abridged series you may like, goblin slayer abribded, it turns the main character inter a raving idiot lunitic obsesed with goblin murder... he's hilarious, eveyrone in it is hilarious the voice actors all reinvent the og animes characters in weird fun ways. easy recomendation.
