Watching the subtle journey Lauren went through throughout this series makes me happy and got me to subscribe to this channel. I want to visit Chicago so bad now.
49:03 This is a common thing people ask at this part, and to be fair, the Abridged series doesn't explain why he can't do that. In the actual show, Goku explains (when first showing off the technique) that the Instant Transmission only lets him teleport to someONE, not someWHERE. He has to sense someone's ki, and then he can teleport to it. He can't just teleport out into space, because there's no one out in space for him to teleport to. This is why he ends up teleporting to King Kai - it's the place with the least amount of people to be killed by the explosion.
@@gurvmlkGoku goes as far as to say “All I gotta to is imagine someone, and ‘poof’”. So they do explain it, but they could have reiterated as a reminder since it was almost half the series ago.
For the kid thing: goku was already making hard decisions such as living on his own, solving some political issues, and making tough calls when people needed saving near gohan’s age. Also that goodbye son joke came full circle.
Everyone rags on the Ox-King saying “you have another one coming” as if he’s saying that there’s a replacement. I just keep thinking about how the stress and her falling could cause a miscarriage.
4:07 Everyone reacts like he says she shouldn't care about her child. But he is simply worried about the other one. High stress isn't good for the embryo. And yes, I belong to everyone. Thought the same thing the first time ^^
When Cell mentions the wafer thin mint, he's referencing a sketch in Monty Python's Meaning of Life. There's a restaurant and a Mr. Creosote who is extremely obese and who exploded after the waiter gives him a mint.
Your reaction to the cell Jr's was great. Was almost exactly like the z fighters themselves. Also, in the original anime, there's a filler episode when piccolo kidnaps gohan where a robot risks its life to save gohan. And I like to think see 16 killed reminds him of that moment.
The song when gohan powers up is an English translation of the song used in the Japanese version, teamfourstar made an amazing english cover of it for this epic moment
For me, the moment that's most etched into my memory from childhood was the Final Flash. I still remember seeing that, followed by a commercial break. During which I rushed out of my room, grabbed the phone (back in the day when house phones were all most of us had), and immediately called my friend who I knew was also watching, just to be like, "Holy shit, did you see that?"
We've seen gohan rage multiple times throughout the show. When he freaked out and head butted napa, when he actaully landed hits on 2nd form frieza, and some other situations.
42:35 Cell used the same power-up technique that Trunk's used. Makes you super-buff but super-slow. He was pissed and desperate. This is explained a little better in the o-fish version ;)
Vegeta talling Yamcha he can't be in Team 3 Star is my favorite joke in the entire abridged series. Vegeta hates the entire concept of Team 3 Star, but he DOES consider himself a member of it. Thus, Yamcha can not be allowed on the team.
@MushyUndTingly it gets even funnier in Buu Bits when Vegeta says how he's now stuck going to movie nights at Krillins, and follows it up with "You see that Kakarot, my god I'm even calling it by its name now!"
Reason Cell gets so pissed when gohan says he is bored is a call back to when goku fights Freiza. So even though he tried to tone down the Freiza... well that was easier said than done xD
The reason Gohan does the intro for episode 60 is because the trope is the intro is USUALLY done by someone who dies in the episode. Gohan's is more symbolic because the "old Gohan" dies at the end, becoming the arrogant, Super Saiyan 2 Gohan.
10:05 yes an 11 year old Super Sayian. Not just an 11 year old kid. And for real, its the Sayian heritage, they were literally born to fight. Even Goku who is at his base a good guy, cannot pass up a great battle. Vegeta is not lying when he billows all the hype about the "Proud Sayian race!" Gohan is the first Saiyan ever to abhor battle, because he is half human. Also yes, "Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face," is a very common saying in the martial arts community.
Gohan has a rage factor where he can face opponents much stronger than him and land significant hits. Radditz and Freeza being two examples. It was something that was more present in the actual show.
7:56 that's an old internet joke from a translation of Deathnote, where they translated the line 「計画通り」(pronounced "keikaku dōri") as "All according to keikaku" with a subtitle saying "Editor's note: Keikaku means plan"
42:27 for comedic effect, TFS removed the process, but basically, Cell did that thing that Trunks did, powering up so much that he got all roided up and massive, but a lot slower. Cell is pissed off and desperate and is trying to do everything he can to at least manage to land a hit on Gohan, but he isnt thinking clearly because he is pissed off and also Freeezer's impatience and Vegeta's impatience within him are adding up to that.
Cell was so huge when Gohan said he was boring him because Cell did that hulk-up transformation that Trunks did to him. The same power up that Cell mocked Trunks for. As he said, "For God's sake, I bet even your father can do it... he's just not stupid enough to try." Gohan triggered that "stupid anger" in Cell with one line. 😂
Cell heard your rant about what R Is For Reprise Is, and took it personally XD (by the way, I apologize for not getting to this in time. I am doing what I can. Love the reactions by the way :)
The whole thing about Cell wanting a good fight isn't something Cell got exclusively from Goku. This is a trait specifically from his saiyan DNA. The whole race was genetically wired to seek out the stongest of challenges. In addition, he can Regenerate with Namakia DNA, gain a power boost after recovering from near death with sayian DNA, and survive in the vacuum of space with Freeza's DNA.
Comparing the slaughter of the Cell Juniors to a horror movie is pretty appropriate. It's even a bit gorier in the original comic version because instead of exploding into dust they just get shredded.
I never read that far into the manga (I tried years ago, but didn't get very far because I simply don't enjoy reading comics), but I have heard about that. And according to other people I've seen bring it up, the dust effect in the anime was done as censorship, because the original Cell Jr. deaths were considered far too gory for television.
I truly despise 16's speech in this version. It's pretty much the only time when the original is better than DBZA. Gohan is ELEVEN. A literal child, who's been surrounded by suffering and death since he was, what, 3 years old? He's never wanted to even hurt anyone, let alone kill them, and telling him that he needs to grow up because of that, like it's an immature attitude he should’ve outgrown, is vile. He's supposed to be a child, not a child-soldier; hell, Picollo knew that, and so did everyone else, that's why they all called Goku out on it.
The song got a full release, and therefore was copyrighted. Even if Team Four Star wouldn't mind, RUclips's copyright algorithm would have flagged her video if she didn't edit it.
I'm confused as well because I have seen a lot of channels react to DBZA and none of them had any copyright problems so it's weird that she has so many problems with it.
I’ve always appreciated how 16’s death, just in case you had hope he could be rebuilt, is made extremely final by that last little bit of light dying out. Delightfully evil. 😊
"Oh man, now I guess I need to watch part 3." Yeah, try watching them as they released them. Actual months between each episodes. In fact over a year between 59 and 60. Quality takes time but the more they put into these episodes the longer each one took to be made and released.
Yea the finale of this saga is so epic and amazing. Poor trunks got wrecked and yhe line cell delivers at the start of the next episode is kinda savage even for him. Hope you enjoy
44:38 I mean, its a good asssesment. I think Goku would have let Cell become perfect if it didnt involve hurting someone else. Goku does care about people, and he was trained by Master Roshi when he was little and Master Roshi taught Goku that first and foremost, Martial Arts are not to win a fight, but to better yourself everyday and protect those who cant protect themselves.
About if Goku would've allowed Cell to eat 18, definitely not. Allow Freiza to charge up and get to 100%? sure. Allow someone to "eat" someone else to power up? Nope. Hell, in dragon ball as a kid he already befriended one or 2 red ribbon androids/cyborgs He likes a good fight but stupid as me may be, even risking the lives of others or the universerse at times, he banks on their side winning and being able to restore the damage.
Android 16 is an interesting foil for gohan. One thing i recommend to reactors is to check out other versions of his speech to gohan. Its thematically different but still has a profound effect

Nail's one remark in Episode 40 about a tone-shift sums it up nicely.
We saw how gohan's power sky rockets in response to his anger when he injured Raditz, sent Nappa flying and damaged frieza when no one else could.
Goku's anger when Frieza killed Krillin is what unlocked his super sayain powers. So anger = power up for sayains.

27:14 i thought my phone was breaking for a minute because of just how vastly different the edits were and how often the switch ups happened 😂
Cell's boing jump gets me every time
No matter how you pitch shift it, that song just HITS.
And in this episode we are introduced to the greatest version of Gohan ever. Edgelord Gohan is chilling, but so amazing.
Lots of big foreshadowing on your part. First the squished bug for the legendary ass whooping Cell got and when you asked for Perfect Form back for the ending. Chef's kiss
Indeed. In Abridged, it's just, "Hey, I can teleport," and that's all the explanation we get.
Tien Shinhan was introduced as a villain in DB. He broke Yamcha's leg for kicks in the tournament.
I didn’t know I needed the pitch shifted “Day of Fate” until now. Great reaction as always.
Thought the same thing the first time ^^
Indeed
I never realized how genuinely eerie they made Gohans voice til you pointed it out
When Cell mentions the wafer thin mint, he's referencing a sketch in Monty Python's Meaning of Life. There's a restaurant and a Mr. Creosote who is extremely obese and who exploded after the waiter gives him a mint.
Goku: Hey, Gohan! Quit hiding your power level and come on out, ya goof!
Me (impersonating Kami scolding Nail): Shut up, Goku! He's doing a thing!
That may be the best reaction I've seen to Gohan dodging. So simple, yet heartfelt.
Your reaction to the cell Jr's was great. Was almost exactly like the z fighters themselves.
Also, in the original anime, there's a filler episode when piccolo kidnaps gohan where a robot risks its life to save gohan. And I like to think see 16 killed reminds him of that moment.
Gohan is a prime example of why anger can be a powerful force, but it clouds the user’s judgment
"Give me back my sexy Perfect Cell!" *Monkey's Paw curls*
The song when gohan powers up is an English translation of the song used in the Japanese version, teamfourstar made an amazing english cover of it for this epic moment
Episode 60 goes so hard, and this is only half of it. Been waiting for this for quite a while.
Lauren: Bring back Perfect Cell please...
Shenron: Your wish has been granted
At least you didn't have to wait 2 YEARS for the next episode to drop
Gohans transformation is burned into my brain from my childhood. I can still see myself bouncing on the sofa with absolute joy 😂
Not so sure about that i think he used Piccolos ability to increase his size (giant form)
@@nekuraookami That would probably be a lot bigger, and wouldn't include a power-up (which was more heavily implied in the original)
So a bit more information, the form Gohan now takes isn't actually called Super Duper Saiyan, but simply Super Saiyan 2 or ascended Super Saiyen.
Vegeta talling Yamcha he can't be in Team 3 Star is my favorite joke in the entire abridged series. Vegeta hates the entire concept of Team 3 Star, but he DOES consider himself a member of it. Thus, Yamcha can not be allowed on the team.
What I think is funnier, is that the only reason why Vegeta considers himself a member of it is EXPLICITLY so he can ban Yamcha from it.
@MushyUndTingly it gets even funnier in Buu Bits when Vegeta says how he's now stuck going to movie nights at Krillins, and follows it up with "You see that Kakarot, my god I'm even calling it by its name now!"
50:33 I will never forget
“That’s right. Cry”
"Goku wouldn't have let him eat her" I mean, by going in second knowing vegeta would, he kinda did.
Yes we've seen that against raditzz frieza nappa Vegeta garlic jr gohan does get rage boost
Yeas, Gohan un SSJ2 was a beast, he was ready to go and non stop
"There was a fly... I got it." good work Lauren.
7:56 that's an old internet joke from a translation of Deathnote, where they translated the line 「計画通り」(pronounced "keikaku dōri") as "All according to keikaku" with a subtitle saying "Editor's note: Keikaku means plan"
Which begs the question of why they stopped translating the sentence halfway through.
As he said, "For God's sake, I bet even your father can do it... he's just not stupid enough to try."
Gohan triggered that "stupid anger" in Cell with one line. 😂
Your face for the next few minutes after hearing "... They are." was effing priceless!
Cell heard your rant about what R Is For Reprise Is, and took it personally XD
(by the way, I apologize for not getting to this in time. I am doing what I can. Love the reactions by the way :)
Gohan snaps again Raditz , friezas goons, and frieza. Helps to remain consistent when watching and you’d remember these 👀
37:20 To be fair sayains all have that treat in them. Cell is about half sayain maybe a quarter.
2/5
The cell jr.s are named after all the famous dub cell voice actors
The whole thing about Cell wanting a good fight isn't something Cell got exclusively from Goku. This is a trait specifically from his saiyan DNA. The whole race was genetically wired to seek out the stongest of challenges. In addition, he can Regenerate with Namakia DNA, gain a power boost after recovering from near death with sayian DNA, and survive in the vacuum of space with Freeza's DNA.
Miss the cell vs refrence? Kentaro vs Cell. "Are you gonna eat that?"
3:08 - AND IT'S _STILL_ GREEN!
I'm surprised the song was a copyright issue at all considering it was custom by TFS.
"okay Satan..." For some reason that was hilarious 😂
When you see reacts videos, you LOVE to see this type: 52:07. Thank you Lauren, has been a blast!
"There's no point in being afraid of the inevitable." Coldest line in the series.
29:21 “OH MYYYY!”
Reckless wording lol
We know of at least one timeline where even Yamcha stopped being in the Yamcha club.
I go get some ice and as I leave the room I hear "Imma Kam in your ha, Cell!" lol
I also ate ice cream while watching this.
So glad I chose to check if there had been an upload today
You ruined that iconic shot of Goku for me pointing out how oddly proportioned he is 😭
“Why is he suddenly so huge?”
Because he’s doing exactly what Trunks did.
I’m…confused why the song was an issue.
The song got a full release, and therefore was copyrighted. Even if Team Four Star wouldn't mind, RUclips's copyright algorithm would have flagged her video if she didn't edit it.
Now I will forever imagine Gohan huffing helium when I listen to it.
I'm confused as well because I have seen a lot of channels react to DBZA and none of them had any copyright problems so it's weird that she has so many problems with it.
@@az639because YT flagging system makes SOOOO much sense.
💀😂😂😂@@The_One_In_Black
I’ve always appreciated how 16’s death, just in case you had hope he could be rebuilt, is made extremely final by that last little bit of light dying out. Delightfully evil. 😊
There was a year wait between 59 and 60 so it’s funny to imagine cell had just been punching gohan for a year straight
and this is why I suggested doing part 2 and part 3 together. : ) Then doing the epilogue and the kais together after.
"Oh man, now I guess I need to watch part 3." Yeah, try watching them as they released them. Actual months between each episodes. In fact over a year between 59 and 60. Quality takes time but the more they put into these episodes the longer each one took to be made and released.
43:42 Shhhhh
48:27 SHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Yea the finale of this saga is so epic and amazing. Poor trunks got wrecked and yhe line cell delivers at the start of the next episode is kinda savage even for him. Hope you enjoy
44:38 I mean, its a good asssesment. I think Goku would have let Cell become perfect if it didnt involve hurting someone else.
Goku does care about people, and he was trained by Master Roshi when he was little and Master Roshi taught Goku that first and foremost, Martial Arts are not to win a fight, but to better yourself everyday and protect those who cant protect themselves.
I still love when Goku 'POP' Balloon Cell to King Kais Planet and blew up. That's not even abriged, that happend in the show.
Fam! We made it! We're here! I am so ready for this.
About if Goku would've allowed Cell to eat 18, definitely not. Allow Freiza to charge up and get to 100%? sure. Allow someone to "eat" someone else to power up? Nope. Hell, in dragon ball as a kid he already befriended one or 2 red ribbon androids/cyborgs
He likes a good fight but stupid as me may be, even risking the lives of others or the universerse at times, he banks on their side winning and being able to restore the damage.
"I wanna see Gohan wreck Cell's ass!"
Me: *popcorn eating intensifies*
Android 16 is an interesting foil for gohan. One thing i recommend to reactors is to check out other versions of his speech to gohan. Its thematically different but still has a profound effect
also one thing that gohan REALLY needs to fucking learn already is that with great power comes great responsibility.
Yes we have seen Gohan snap, multiple times throughout the series, example: when he almost killed Zarbon.
