Finally! Someone picks up on the significance of Freeza saying “That’s a new one.” It’s downplayed, to be sure, but it’s a great callback that most people seem to miss.

2:37 The term White Mage originally came from Final Fantasy series before being adapted into mmorpg community. Square didn’t want to use the name Cleric because they didn’t want to clash with D&D.

@@tehrickles1447 It’s both. There was a rising popularity with D&D tabletop games in Japan at the time (80s). Some of the Japanese translated D&D tabletop games just phonetically translated the word “cleric” into japanese. Since many japanese didn’t realize that the word cleric was just a regular word, people making certain video games assumed it was a name created for the D&D game and was hesitant to use it in their own games (even in the original Japanese).

22:04 this fight in the anime took 30 episodes with each episode being animated by a different studio to keep pace, this resulted in some parts of the fight being better animated than others because of the difference in talent working on each episode.
You can see this in the other multi episode fights throughout the series as well.

@@ChicagoReacts Watching abridged makes seeing the original both more hilarious, and sadly more disappointing in ways. Remembering that the hype for the show was unprecedented at it's time helps make the drawn-out and filler-prone stretches of the show easier to understand. It has it's brilliant moments, and abridged does a great job of both respecting the actual content, while also having a ton of fun with it. I think many people find the abridged to be superior due to it's ability to use so much of the source material and the time it's development afforded them to not repeat mistakes of the original authors.

A source of frustration for Freeza is that he relishes the smack talk and delivering witty eloquent snipes. But all of those witty burns go right over Goku's head, he doesn't register that he's being insulted, which vexes Freeza, making Freeza inadvertently infuriate himself every time he snaps off a cutting remark Goku's way that doesn't land.

Evolutionary wise the saiyans bloodlust makes sense. Since they get stronger when they almost die. If you don't kill your opponent, they come back for you stronger in a couple weeks. If you don't fight, you have no way of becoming powerful. It legitimately makes sense biologically for them to be bloodthirsty warmongers.

19:32 Yes and no. They've got minor filler group shots here and there, but TFS is making a whole side project with them now.
