Incorrect. 16 is based off of Gevo, but he did not die during Goku's raid. TFS added this as a way to properly motivate Dr Gero towards revenge instead of merely losing his paycheck from the Red Ribbon Army as per canon.
If I recall, the real names of 17 and 18 were also just casually dropped by him in an interview. Fear not, I'm known as a human calculator for a reason! 3 hours = 1/8 of a day, so the translation would be 1/8 of a year inside the chamber. Since a quarter (of a year) is 3 months, kid Goku was only in the chamber for about 1.5 months, or roughly 6 weeks.
The "if you had a wig" joke a shot at all the Dragon Ball Z characters have the exact same face but just different hair.😂😂 plus Krillin without a nose lol
8:20 another rule they presented in this exact scene about the workings of the Hyperbolic Time Chamber is that you can't use it for more than 2 consecutive years (2 days in real time). This is explained by Popo after Vegeta, having heard about Goku comparing his power to Cell's, decides the order they will use the chamber, with Piccolo having a turn, then having it for himself, Trunks and Goku and Gohan the rest of the week. Popo explained that this wasn't possible, because if he were to use it for more than 2 years, the door would disappear and he would get stuck inside the chamber forever. Then, Goku declined using it any further, and left with Gohan to rest at home.
17:07 Cell is refering to the first time Bulma and Goku met. Giving he had lived in the mountains his whole life, Goku didn't know what a car was, so when Bulma showed up in one, he attacked it, and Bulma shot him (there was a lot of shooting and gun using in general in the original DB before it got to DBZ), but him being as strong as he is, it didn't do anything
Gohan, in the episode where him and Goku went into the Hypebonics Rhyme Chamber, did the math on how long half an hour translates into HTC time, and it came out something like “30 minutes = 7.6-ish days”. So, Kid Goku lasting three or so hours in the real world is pretty impressive given that it’s at least six times that long in the Chamber, so like two months or so? …it’s also makes Piccolo leaving after three HTC days really, *really* bad
I love how TFS made the scene of Human 16 in a video message talking about the Android project before his death by Kid Goku If you could hear closely in the background, Kid Goku was charging his Kamehameha
About the time chamber, its implird that the time dilation thing, which turns a day into a year, stops working when there is more than 2 people. Also, you only get to use it for 2 Earth days max, otherwise the door dissapears. And I dont mean at a time, i mean like 2 days in your lifetime.
I’m really enjoying watching DBZA for the first time alongside you guys. Can’t believe how good and consistently funny it is. Y’all should really react to OG Dragon Ball, especially if 3 out of 4 of you haven’t seen it. Think you’d really get a kick out of it! 🤘🏻
Mr. Satan's name is Mark. He won a "Mr. Satan" tournament and used the Title from then on, the dub introduced Hercule as a replacement name. In DBZA its Mark Hercule Satan
The time dilation for the time chamber is 365 days to 24 hours. That makes one hour outside roughly 15.3 days inside of the chamber. So if Goku only lasted three outside hours in the chamber that means he was inside for a month and a half. Research varies but it's generally agreed upon that the stress caused to Inmates left in solitary confinement for extended periods of time typically had a 26% chance of early death due to heart damage dealt by the extended periods of stress. That's ignoring the mental health damage they all suffer.
cell saying the "tale of a girl shooting a little boy in the face" is a reference to the beginning of the dragon ball story, bumla meets goku and shoots him in the face
Reporter: “Does the fat green one come back? Cause he was funny.” Cell: “Psh, I wish…” I love this exchange given that Curtis plays both Guru and Cell. The man sure has a great range as a VA
Dunno if you guys know this yet since you keep saying they didnt go past the cell games with this series, but while they may not be full episodes they did do a compilation of shorts going through all the buu saga too you should check out after this series is done
That is actually a big part of this episode. When Trunks and Vegeta entered the Time chamber they spent all their time trying to push themselves to the next level and they managed to increase their power but burn through their energy reserves MUCH faster. In this episode we learned that Goku hand the two of them spend all of their time mastering the base Super Saiyan for instead of trying to push to the next level and as a result of that both he and Gohan gained such control of it they can maintain it 24/7. This not only lets them fight much longer, with far greater efficiency, but also makes it so they can push themselves farther than Trunks and Vegeta without straining their energy reserves.
Everyone always shits on Mr Satan but "best fighter in the world if you don't count the people with super powers" is pretty damn legit. Yeah, sorry he can't beat superman, he can beat McGreggor and Mayweather though...
Maybe it's because I left subtitles off when I watched the episode, but I always thought the conversation Cell had with the Hetap rep went a little more like the rep explaining to Cell that they'll get a massive popularity boost broadcasting the games, and hey, if they die, all that means is that they'll get to expand their market into the virgin territory of the afterlife and soon make Hetap the dominant beverage of all the souls (and though they don't know it, also the ogres, the Kais, even King Yemma). So they win either way.
There is a Buu saga abridged of sorts. It's just scenes though instead of a full saga. Also in regards to the dub not using the name Satan. They also left "Kami" untranslated as to avoid offending anyone as well. "Kami" is the Japanese word for God. They also changed the word "Hell" on the ogres shirts to "HFIL" and instead of hell they call it "Home For Infinite Losers". This was all fixed in the kai version and in super with the exception of "Kami".
it's kind of funny how at least in this series continuity that a volleyball with a face on it did that much damage to Vegeta with the damaged armor and everything
While 16 was modeled after Gero's son, his son wasn't actually killed by Goku in canon. According to Toriyama, it was an "enemy bullet" that killed him, meaning he died in some random conflict. This angle is wayyy better though, since it gives Gero a legitimate and pretty understandable reason to have such a blinding hatred for Goku, rather than it just being "grr you put my bosses out of business"
15:18 actually, Mr Satan name is Mark, or Maaku, in japanese (Maaku is the anagram from Akuma, which means devil in japanese) Hercule is the dub name because you couldnt have religious references on TV for kids. Mr. Satan is also a title that he got from the Dojo he trained at. Always fight flashily and speak big, that was what his mentor taught him after picking Mark up from street fighting. And Mark would be a fearlesss fighter, being a nice martial artist with a TON of luck. That is until Mark's Sensei made fun of the wrong man at a bar for his lengthy ponytail. Tao PaiPai, also known as mercenary Tao. Tao killed the master and beat the ever living crap out of Mark. Mark swore to never participate in a fight he knew he could not win ever again. Source: Toriyama interviews and some storytelling flair.
They dont have full episodes but you guys should react to TFS the Buu bits compilation once youve finished the full epsiode series. Love all the reactions guys
8:20 People can only use the time chamber twice for their entire lifetime. The reason why its limited to two people going in at once is because of supply limitations(food, water, etc.) Piccolo would actually be a great choice for a third person since he only needs water to survive.
Based on what they said about wasting half an hour or 7.6 days eating before going into the Chamber, Goku’s three-hour stretch as a kid equals approximately 61.6 days. So a little more than two calendar months. Plenty of time for a kid by themselves to lose their marbles. 😂
Mr. Satan's real name is actually "Mark", which might sound lame but in Japanese that would be pronounced like "Maku", so it fits in with his family's devil themed name, being close to "Akuma", meaning devil.
if he eats enough weak humans to beat and eat Trunks right after he finished off the two big bads, he could probably keep eating most the universe just like that except now that he thinks perfection he will go the vegeta route of hubris and find that asskicking, which again saiyan blood and his high survival will make him stronger hmm

Popo explained that this wasn't possible, because if he were to use it for more than 2 years, the door would disappear and he would get stuck inside the chamber forever. Then, Goku declined using it any further, and left with Gohan to rest at home.
Talking about Mr Satan's name but don't forget, his daughters name is Videl, which is just an anagram for devil
Episode 55 has some great moments but it's time for the WORLD CHAMP
I love how TFS made the scene of Human 16 in a video message talking about the Android project before his death by Kid Goku
If you could hear closely in the background, Kid Goku was charging his Kamehameha
Look, the reporter was not to blame for doing his job. He was to blame for not remembering to call him MR. Perfect Cell
cell saying the "tale of a girl shooting a little boy in the face" is a reference to the beginning of the dragon ball story, bumla meets goku and shoots him in the face
Reporter: “Does the fat green one come back? Cause he was funny.”
Cell: “Psh, I wish…”
I love this exchange given that Curtis plays both Guru and Cell. The man sure has a great range as a VA
Dunno if you guys know this yet since you keep saying they didnt go past the cell games with this series, but while they may not be full episodes they did do a compilation of shorts going through all the buu saga too you should check out after this series is done
Mark's video essays are also worth the full watch too
That is actually a big part of this episode.
Kora and now dragonball. Good start of the week
15:27 actually they did release a bunch of little clips of Buu saga stuff they did for TotallyNotMark's Buu saga video, its called the Buu bits
That Goten joke is so well written hardly no one realizes it until they rewatch 😂
Mr. Satan is a stage name in honor of the dojo in which he studied, called "Satan Castle." His actual name is Mark
Everyone always shits on Mr Satan but "best fighter in the world if you don't count the people with super powers" is pretty damn legit. Yeah, sorry he can't beat superman, he can beat McGreggor and Mayweather though...
I'm curious how he'd do against Chi-chi (or like, Nam or King Choppa, but they're probably too old to fight at their best)
Why am i unsettled by four men whispering "everything's going to be fine billy" to me.
maybe because they get the close up with the crazy eyes?
Cell started the story of his origin with Bulma shooting Goku in the face.
TeamFourStar DID do a little thing called Buu Bits, where they abridged certain bits of that saga.
Love the way Cell is so patient with goku
when the book hit chi chi scott is the voice of grampa gohan saying boo. they confirmed that in the commentary episode
Kid Goku was a menace back in the day. None of that against killing stuff.
15:18 actually, Mr Satan name is Mark, or Maaku, in japanese (Maaku is the anagram from Akuma, which means devil in japanese)
Hercule is the dub name because you couldnt have religious references on TV for kids.
One of the few stories toriyama added after and that are actually cool
Maaku is the Japanese equivalent of naming a character Staan.
When Dende whistles and says it hurts him more it's a reference to lord slug movie where Gohan whistled and it hurt namekian ears
Ohhh smart
They dont have full episodes but you guys should react to TFS the Buu bits compilation once youve finished the full epsiode series. Love all the reactions guys
"Our story begins with a young girl shooting a little boy in the face..."
You know, when he puts it that way...
Notice how Cell plays into whatever comes out of Goku's mouth, Cell doesn't come to a screeching halt, like Freeza did.
"A young girl shooting a little boy in the face" is the first episode of Dragon Ball. Teenage Bulma shoots little Goku.
I love when the VAs imitate each other, lol.
Mr. Popo literaly Cracks a smile: "I like you."
8:20 People can only use the time chamber twice for their entire lifetime. The reason why its limited to two people going in at once is because of supply limitations(food, water, etc.) Piccolo would actually be a great choice for a third person since he only needs water to survive.
Can you tell when it was said that they could only go twice in their lifetime? I don’t remember
@@dbzfan6900yesterday
I'm surprised they're uploading this today, but very happy they did.
Based on what they said about wasting half an hour or 7.6 days eating before going into the Chamber, Goku’s three-hour stretch as a kid equals approximately 61.6 days. So a little more than two calendar months. Plenty of time for a kid by themselves to lose their marbles. 😂
Mr. Satan's real name is actually "Mark", which might sound lame but in Japanese that would be pronounced like "Maku", so it fits in with his family's devil themed name, being close to "Akuma", meaning devil.
i would love to see you guys react to OG dragon ball
Its kind of fun to imagine the glorious asskicking Cell would have likely found himself had he gone off into the wider universe.
if he eats enough weak humans to beat and eat Trunks right after he finished off the two big bads, he could probably keep eating most the universe just like that
except now that he thinks perfection he will go the vegeta route of hubris and find that asskicking, which again saiyan blood and his high survival will make him stronger
hmm
@@jayeisenhardt1337 Until he destroys enough that Beerus comes looking for the person trying to take his job...assuming blowing up Earth didn't wake up Buu.
You know it's good when the fans make a back story for a character who did have one that's as good as the ones from the actual show tfs did amazing with this if I'm whoever is in charge of dragon ball now I'd hire them as story board writers
11:06. Unless I mathed up, 3 hours should be ~45 days(1.5 months) or 6 weeks
More than 2 people could go in at once but they only have enough food for two for a year, they could get more food and have 3-4 people and Piccolo doesn’t need to eat food so he could go in too.
Be sure to watch the Cell Vs. series before you get to the last few episodes.
Isn’t it about a month every 2 hours in the time chamber? Iirc
1 /s = 6 minutes on Earth
1 min. = 6 hours on Earth
1/ hr = about 15 days on Earth I would continue to list more but I’m sure you guys get the point lol( I just did a rough estimate, I’m sure you could find more accurate times with a quick google search lol)
Dragon Ball Zuper: Super Hero, has made the backstory for Android 16 canon.
21:36 It’s hilarious because this ended up becoming partially canon. Due to android 21
Since y'all asked, if 24 hours equals 12 months, then 3 hours would means Kid Goku was in there for a month and a half, or 6 weeks
Nooooo watch the cell vs shorts first...cell vs yugi...cell vs ash ...cell vs Bobby hill...cell vs Yusuke..cell vs ryu and ken...cell vs sonic and knuckles..cell vs saitama...etc its all before the cell games starts
15:14 Mr Satin was not censored or changed I remember clearly on Toonami in 2007-8... And also thinking what does Satin the devil have to do with a cartoon and realized the name doesn't really mean anything...
