    Just discovered rope flow today and I’m so happy! Similar flow arts (hooping, poi, buugeng) are already part of my life and this will be a wonderful new addition. So excited to get started ~ thank you!

    I got a lot out of it. It was recently presented to me and I feel anyway that I am already hooked as I believe it can only improve my tennis but I love just to move and this seems to be a conduit for what my body has been looking for, I have ordered my first rope, but using your ideas, I will try to find just a jump rope until the ordered product arrives. I do a lot of walking with my dog in the woods and this would seem like a natural place to work on form as my dog tries to catch rabbits. Thanks

    Good review man, would be nice to hear about the differences of ropes (the wide, weight) , feeling while flowing . Did you to try to flow two ropes bundled together , some athletic stuff.. For how long max time did you flow?

      Thanks mate, appreciate it! Yeah I'll put together a comparison video sometime soon.
      I have done both of my homemade heavy black ropes together - definitely makes you more aware of any compensations!
      If I'm doing a standalone rope flow session, anywhere between 5 minutes to an hour

    Thanks for the tips, what diameter rope would be roughly equivalent to an octomoves flowzilla?

    I'm around 185cm. How long would I need my rope including the knots? Got some 10mm rope looking to diy one

    • @LukeJonesMOVE
      @LukeJonesMOVE  3 года назад

      I'd say around 4m to ensure you have enough weight. Can always tie extra knots then to shorten it if it's a little long.

    Hi Luke, I want to learn rope training and was given a flowzilla... but I don’t even know how and where to grip it. The knots at the end are so thick, I certainly can’t grab them both in one hand and the rope scrapesbthe skin of my hands raw, so I’m feeling quite discouraged. Have you got any tips?! Thanks

    • @LukeJonesMOVE
      @LukeJonesMOVE  3 года назад

      Hi, sorry to hear that! Typically you would grip the knots on the end of the rope, one in each hand, but you could hold it just underneath the knot. Your hands will adapt over time, but you could wear gloves if it's too uncomfortable. May be worth getting in touch with the guys at octomoves to see what advice they have :) Hope that helps!

    • @sarethums

      @@LukeJonesMOVE the octoropes in general but particularly the phoenix and the lighter one you have there.

    • @LukeJonesMOVE
      @LukeJonesMOVE  3 года назад +1

      @@sarethums Ah I see, yep no problem! The red Phoenix rope is similar to the Flowzilla (gold) - both around 480 grams and 12mm diameter. These two are thicker and heavier than the green Funky Zen (300g, 10mm).
      The green makes it a bit easier to learn some of the more complex movements, but it's not all that different to learning with the red or gold. Green is nice for casual flowing, red & gold are better if you're after more of a cardio stimulus.
      All in all, I'd say it's not quite like mace training or kettlebell work where it's best practice to start lighter and build up from there - the differences are much more subtle with the rope.
      Hope that helps!

    • @sarethums
      @sarethums 3 года назад +1

      @@LukeJonesMOVE it does thanks. Have you got a video on moves to do just for fitness? Ive seen a few ive saved on instagram. Something fast and knackering.

    • @LukeJonesMOVE
      @LukeJonesMOVE  3 года назад +1

      @@sarethums Best bet would be to get proficient with the basic underhand and overhand roll, the underhand/overhand matador, and the dragon roll. Can build up some speed and power with those, and even sprinkle in some jump rope too. Then just a case of playing with timings: 30 on, 30 off etc, 40 on, 20 off and the number of rounds.
