My great uncle was a bluegrass gospel singer his whole life. He was still leading songs in church the Sunday before he passed. His voice was still so powerful he didn't even need a microphone to be heard over the band. 😊
My mom made sure growing up by the time I was 18 in East TN I had seen Oak Ridge Boys over 20 times..,and George Jones 10 times and I could keep going on God bless my mother
This was a great collaboration. They are all fans of each other. Apparently one of the members of the Oak Ridge Boys once said something along the lines of "I don't who this Elvira is, but she bought us all houses."
Richard Sterban is a legend. Among others he's worked with J.D. Sumner and as a backup singer for Elvis. As Tim said in their 2020 Christmas special The Oaks have really taken Home Free under their wing over the years and in a way passed the torch to the next generation of musicians and they hope to be able to do the same down the road. I got to see Home Free preform this right before Christmas and it was really fun even without the Oaks.
It's such a beautiful thing that these guys have so much respect for one another and have no ego's at all. Jeff C, Home Free and the "Oaks" were outstanding and as the video shows...they had a great time doing this. They seem to have so much fun doing what they love to do! Another song they did with the Oak's was Christmas (2020), was "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem" with another nice vocalist, Jeffrey East". The harmonies were simply beautiful and it showed the bond they have for each other...Home Free is really good with collaborating with other established groups and also sharing their talents to newer groups as well. I so appreciated your reaction and would love to see more reaction to Home Free but as we all know...so much music...so little time....but I'll be patient.... Thanks again and wishing you , your hubby and your soon to be born "bundle of joy"...😊 RichieC (Atlanta)
@@DennisKovacich So sorry for the misspelling - I've only seen his (Geoff) name as well as his videos forever it seems - no disrespect to such a talented and great artist intended - thanks for letting this old man know... didn't mean to rile you but I probably would feel the same if someone referred to me as "Rick" and not "Rich" 👍 thanks for pointing that out...
@@richcunningham5467, you didn’t rile me, but after the innumerable ways my name has been mangled it’s just a pet peeve of mine, especially these days when it’s so easy to check.
Austin Brown has a back yard recording studio...check out Austin and Tim and friends with "My Maria" in Austins backyard...you can actually hire them to come to your backyard :) That low note was originally all the rave of the song back in the 80's, he still has it but you have to give it up to Tim with the "oh yeah, let me show you something". BTW, I believe this was arranged by Geoff Castelucci. The thing I love about covers that HF does with the original artist is the respect they pay to the original artist and adding their flair. In this case, The Oaks reached out to HF to do this collab after hearing them...also is a collab with Kenny Rodgers "Children go where I send thee". But all their collabs feature the original artists and pay much respect to them.
My wife is an Oak Ridge Boys fan from way back. Showed her this video a few weeks back. There has been a lot of country music playing in the house lately. In fact, a lot of ORB lately. I wonder why? 😉 This video is fun to watch. Enjoy everyone.
Has your wife heard the ORB, Home Free and Jeffery East do "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem"? She will really like it I think. Happy New Year 2022 to both of you.
Fun Fact: Not just did Geoff Castellucci arrange this but Voiceplay also has a version of this song. It's kinda similar to this one like it sounds a bit to the drawing board of what this turned into and they never studio recorded it so only live versions are available on youtube but it's still worth checking out!
I only recently discovered your reaction site. I can't decide which I like better, how you explain the technical information in a way that non-musicians can understand or your reactions (especially when you get absolutely giddy) to the amazing parts of the performance. Definitely one of my top favorites among people doing reaction videos! Thank you so much Elizabeth!
Love how you completely analyze the song !! And you bring up the specialized techniques they use, as some reactors just think these guys are "country bumpkins". These guys are true professionals and are great technicians of their craft.
The vibe is as awesome as it gets. The video is clearly a room that became a mutual admiration society during this song. The Oakridge Boys are vocal royalty and they are looking at the talent in the room with disbelief at the level of skill. This was a once in a lifetime event...that just happen to be set around a classic song.
Elizabeth, I so love your excitement and enthusiasm as you point each nuance to the performance. I so enjoy your reaction videos as you not only react but point out details in such an interesting and enjoyable way. Thanks so much.
Nothing is better after a really hard working day then run home, put on you merch shirt, get on RUclips and enlighten the day watching this channel of amazing reactions, saved the day. Thank you.
These guys look like they're having the time of their lives! It's impossible to not smile and laugh during the entire song. Your excited reactions are always my favorite, Elizabeth!
Miss Elizabeth, your reviews have really been enjoyed over the last couple of years. Your spirit and enjoyment is so refreshing to see. Keep up the stellar work!
I am so glad you reacted to this collaboration between Home Free & The Oakridge Boys. You can see the great respect these 2 groups have for each other. The Oakridge Boys are mentors to Home Free & it is like they are passing the baton to a newer version of themselves. They have performed together on the Grand Ole Opry. Adam Rupp's vocal percussion is the best in the business. He can simulate drums & any other sounds perfectly. Home Free is my favorite a cappella group. They are so talented yet very humble guys.
Home Free and The Oak Ridge Boys did another video collaboration last Dec 2020. Look for HF/ORB feat Jeffrey East "Star of Bethlehem"...Joe and Duane both set forth their admiration of Austin's gospel style. Seems both groups have appeared together in other various venues.
O BEAUTIFUL STAR OF BETHLEHEM truly is wonderful ft's Jeffrey East. Austin goes back to his childhood southern gospel roots when he watched and sometimes traveled and occasionally performed with his Dad who was a member of a Southern Gospel Music Quartet.
This made my morning! One of the best reviewers out here gives us a super charming breakdown of this glorious performance. Thank you for making this •‿•
Hi Elizabeth, this is my first time listening to this rendition, and I loved the performance. I remember hearing this song in the early '80s, and I love the collaboration 40 years later. Home Free and the Oak Ridge Boys were having fun, and their harmonies were incredible throughout the whole song. Thank you, Elizabeth!!! 💙
You are my favorite reaction video person on youtube. Your energy your enthusiasm is infectious. My wife and I love to watch your videos. You should check out Home Free's "Brothers in Arms cover, and my wife brought up something too. Martina McBrides "Independence day", then check out the Crossroads she did with Pat Benetar of the same song, it was amazing. Please keep up the good work and the fun, your amazing, and I so love the way your facial expressions show your joy of music and the artists that do it".
So glad you got to this one. Love the Oak Ridge Boys. First time I saw them I was 5 and they were playing at the Grand Ole Opry. This is a great colab.
Lol. I mean this in the cutest, most affectionate way possible Elizabeth. You totally goober-ed out on this. So fun and I loved it! I remember when my daughter's were tiny little, like 2, they would always tell me (raised em by myself for several years) I was being a goober when I acted silly with them! Great react. Thank you dear!
The enjoyment you have, the laughter and little giggles is absolutely contagious. This is one of my all time favorite songs, and the collaboration between the two makes it even better. But, seeing someone that has that same love for the music's reaction, and true joy that it brings makes it even better. Thank you for doing this one. The song and your reactions just made my day! Plus, you break it down so well.
Elizabeth, if you want more of Adams beat boxing try the Adam Rupp drum solo. The one I've seen is a live performance where Tim basically introduces Adam and then they leave him alone on stage to perform. The sounds this man creates are amazing.
You gotta love the audience interaction in that too. There are actually a couple of versions on RUclips that shows how he has developed his sound over the years.
This is one tie I was part of two groups jamming Damn I bet they had so much fun. Elizabeth you did a great job breaking this song down. keep it up !!!
I really love to hear and watch this combination. It is pure fun. I have so many thoughts about that. It feels a bit like "Passing the torch" or fathers teaching their sons. It is obvious that everyone had a lot of fun and that´s what music is made for: Having fun together. Additionally I like it, that they are in a bandroom with instruments all around them and Adam Rupp is making the sounds with his mouth. One of my favorites. Thanks for sharing your reaction.
I saw them live in the late 80's, Richard Sturban's low register vibrated the seats in the 5 seasons center of Cedar Rapids Iowa. Nothing like feeling a note all the way through your butt and spine. Also, they bring kids from the audience on stage for Angels Among Us. Its so touching.
This version is a delight. The arrangement is great, both groups are awesome and the amount of fun they are having always brings a smile to my face (also Rob comparing beards cracks me up). Thank you for the reaction. I always learn something. :-)
I was a nerd in high school in the 80's. I was all into country and the Oak Ridge Boys were and are one of my favorites. I have seen them live at least a half dozen times. They are greatness. And I love this collaboration so much.
I’ve stood next to the stage with the Oak Ridge Boys. They were performing for a corporate party and I was an employee of the company. They are amazing! They waited until last for Elvira and they about brought the house down. Tipsy Texans get rowdy. 🇨🇱
The thing I love about the Oak Ridge Boys in any collaboration is Joe's reaction to any other Tenor. He always gives them this look like How Dare You try to show me up! Lol!
Loved your reaction, as always! It's amazing how much more you bring to something that I enjoy already -- making it even better. I'd appreciate you fitting more Home Free in your busy schedule - they've recently released a cover of "Bless the Broken Road" that is wonderful. Thank you again.
I really enjoy the way that you talk about the musicality of all of the different parts of the song also noticing all of the actions that they do. I've always loved this, its a really great repeat listening choice.
I'm pretty sure the dictionary entry for "delightful" just says "Elizabeth Zharoff." Your reactions are delightful to listen to, and you yourself are so full of delight when you enjoy the songs!
This is probably my favorite Home Free song because I absolutely love The Oak Ridge Boys. As a huge fan of great bass singers it's great to see Richard Sterban and Tim Foust sing together and the only way it could be better would be to get those two and Harold Reid(The Statler Brothers) together.
Thank you for this video, Elizabeth. I love Home Free and they were obviously having a lot of fun with The Oak Ridge Boys but it was your sheer joy that got to me. I found myself actually giggling along with you. Thank you for lifting my spirits on a day that I really needed it. I would love to see you and Tim Foust collaborate on a project sometime.
I commented on a reaction to Peter and Tim and so it goes that they're both honest singers that makes it great. And it is one of the many things that makes your reactions and breakdowns so truly amazing and truly is a blessing. Thank you truly hope you and yours are well!!
As for Austin's enthusiasm, Tim told the story about when Home Free was working on a cruise ship as guest performers and Austin was part of the in-house entertainment. He was told by one of the other singers that Austin really, really wanted to meet them and that he was "excitable, sorry". Austin is still excitable, but that's part of his charm. Also, Home Free's live versions of Elvira are always amazing!
Hi Elizabeth, Totally awesome that you are venturing down this road, This is a super fun song! And the Oak Ridge Boys do a wonderful take on it, With Home Free... Very cool reaction, Definitely enjoyed this.. Thank you!
Elizabeth, you never disappoint. Your enthusiasm is infectious! You always make me smile! Thank you for sharing your love of music and expertise with us. I LOVE this version of 'Elvira'. Fantastic!
Elizabeth and Kirk, Alex Hefner's RUclips channel did a "My Honest Thoughts on Every Other Reaction Channel" video and gave a positive shout out to Elizabeth and The Charismatic Voice. Just an FYI.
Elizabeth. This is a P.S. to my original comment. I was just rewatching this and heard you mention Adam Chance. Chance was not in this video. The guy on the end was Chris Rupp, who actually started the group. After several years he left to do other projects and he suggested Chance to replace him. Chris and Adam Rupp are (or were) the only 2 original members of the group. Tim, Austin, Rob and Chance all joined in later years. Love your work!
I don't know what's more fun, the song with Home Free and the Oak Ridge Boys or your reaction to it 😅🙃 The guys did a fanstastic job and Adam's beatboxing is second to none.
That super-low D was just incredible. In my pre-transition life, I was a baritone with a wide range, and the lowest I had to sing for any anything was the G in that octave, and that really took work to reach. I'm suitably impressed.
Watched this when it came out but listening to this today because Joe Bonsall a singer from the Oak Ridge Boys passed today 7/9/24. RIP sir. Much love from Virginia 💙💙
You can tell that they love working with each other! Very similar I'm many ways! Great reaction as always Beth! Two requests that I would love for u to react to by Home Free - Helplessly Hoping and Brothers in Arm. Both are one of the best from Home Free, which says alot!!
Elizabeth's reactions always make me smile. She's like a kid in a candy store and every new song is a new candy store. Her excitement is very contagious.
Thank you so much for reacting to this group of great guys. Home Free and the Oak Ridge Boys are amazing together. So happy they have sung together several times at the Opry also. I really like your explanation of the song and how they bring it about. Home Free is so good working with others. Then they bring in Geoff of VoicePlay to arrange the song. I really like the fact the acapella groups get along so well. Thank you again, you are greatly appreciated.
I LOVE your reactions, and I just LOVE Home Free. Since it's been a year without reacting to HF, I was excited to see this one, and definitely not disappointed! While you might not want to react to much HF music, there are a few very special vocal pieces that I think we are all awaiting from you, in particular "Brothers in Arms", "Helplessly Hoping", and "When a Man Loves a Woman". Obviously there are like 150 more super awesome HF songs for you to react to, but I think you'd appreciate those three. Oh, and of course, their recent "Mary Did You Know". Good to see you hadn't totally forgotten about Home Free :)
Rob Lundquist told William Lee Golden He wanted his beard as long as William's but his wife wouldn't let him, William told Rob "son, looks like you have a decision to make" Chuckle I'm so Happy they got to do this song with the Oaks, and double happy that they felt so at ease with each other . That's the Magic, when you can't help smiling/dancing/singing along it's just pure JOY !
I've been waiting to hear a review of this version of the song. One of the best renditions of a great classic song. Totally different vibe, stands on its own well, done by amazing performers, with amazing arrangement.
Yay....though you stopped it many times you always went back to play the outstanding notes. Thank you!!!! Nice reaction and LOVE the song. Always have loved it...I'm 62.
Loved it!!!!! Home Free is so great and I have loved The Oak Ridge Boys since I was a kid. The Oak Ridge Boys started as a southern gospel quartet and crossed over to country. I read somewhere that the original group started in the 1940s.
This was the very first song I ever remember singing, back when I was probably around three years old (it was a fairly new song back then 😝 ). I had it on a 45rpm record, and I nearly wore the vinyl out playing it over and over (and I probably also nearly wore my mom's patience out, too). I had so much fun with the "words" of the baseline in the chorus. 😂 The tenor of the Oak Ridge Boys, Joe Bonsall, owns a farm close to my parents, and my dad has done some handyman work for him over the years. He's a really nice, down-to-earth guy, and he's also an author of several books, too.
We just released merchandise! Check out the full line-up here: thecharismaticmerch.com

I really like how fun the song is and the video was and the respect Home Free has for the Oak Ridge Boys great video
Chill bump’s galore! Love it 😍
Hi Elizabeth, Totally awesome that you are venturing down this road,
This is a super fun song! And the Oak Ridge Boys do a wonderful take on it,
With Home Free...
Very cool reaction, Definitely enjoyed this..
Thank you!
The Oak Ridge Boys; what a fantastic, legendary group.
Elizabeth, you never disappoint. Your enthusiasm is infectious! You always make me smile! Thank you for sharing your love of music and expertise with us. I LOVE this version of 'Elvira'. Fantastic!
Thank you! Glad you like the video. They are such a joy to watch!
Elizabeth and Kirk, Alex Hefner's RUclips channel did a "My Honest Thoughts on Every Other Reaction Channel" video and gave a positive shout out to Elizabeth and The Charismatic Voice. Just an FYI.
👍
Thank you, Metal Mark! I did go take a look, and his thoughts were very kind. Thank you for mentioning this!
👍👍👍
I don't know what's more fun, the song with Home Free and the Oak Ridge Boys or your reaction to it 😅🙃 The guys did a fanstastic job and Adam's beatboxing is second to none.
your reactions are the best in this world with your smile
Joe Bonsall's voice hit me like a wave of nostalgia when I first listened to this.
I love the part where Rob compares his beard to William Lee Golden
That super-low D was just incredible. In my pre-transition life, I was a baritone with a wide range, and the lowest I had to sing for any anything was the G in that octave, and that really took work to reach. I'm suitably impressed.
Watched this when it came out but listening to this today because Joe Bonsall a singer from the Oak Ridge Boys passed today 7/9/24. RIP sir.
Much love from Virginia 💙💙
Fun fact Tim warned the Oaks not to stand next to Adam because one of his nicknames is Spitter , Austin has that T-Shirt framed in his livingroom
What an AWESOME reaction!!! Your delight is contagious! Thank you!
As always your reactions are so informative, funny and entertaining at the same time, thank you for this reaction ☺️
I can tell when you really like a song by how giddy you get .... good reaction
Highly recommend Home Free's version of "When a Man Loves a Woman".....Austin absolutely nails it.
They were all working at the Oak Ridge Nuclear power plant in Tennessee. William Golden is from Brewton, Al, and my dad knew him as a kid.
Your laugh is just magical. Thank you for the great breakdown too, amazing as usual.
The tenor of the Oak Ridge Boys, Joe Bonsall, owns a farm close to my parents, and my dad has done some handyman work for him over the years. He's a really nice, down-to-earth guy, and he's also an author of several books, too.
So glad you did this. I have loved the Oak Ridge Boys for some time ('78).
