I REALLY loved the final chords of the song that everyone sang around Tim's earth-shaking low note. They were taken straight out of the trumpet introduction of Johnny Cash's original and they fit in flawlessly at the end of the song while Avi put on his cowboy hat. That homage to the original was a perfect ending.

I’d heard two other of the songs but the percussion in this one really floored me. Sounded like wood blocks, and snare drums, cymbal, and toms, sometimes at the same time. Like she said, a whole drum kit. Truly impressive.
I just love how you are able to pick the single parts out of a sequence just like that. For us that have listened to Home Free (and also Avi) for some time, we know most of the boundary notes already, but I'm very impressed that you were able to also pick Adams beats in all this, he's just really good. I'm looking forward to more reactions from you on Home Free, and maybe also on Peter Hollens as requested. My favourite request is Home Free, how great thou art, since that is no beatbox, just their voices. It's excellent, you'll love it.
I love how excited you get! You seem like you FEEL the music just as much as you dissect it, which is so refreshing. There are other reactors and coaches who seem dry in comparison. I lump you in with Rebecca Vocal Athlete for the way you two are so passionate about it, both of you are excitable so your reactions are lively and fun to watch. Oh, right, well Avi can do overtones so it doesn't surprise me how he can change it so fast. He's awesome. Hey, don't apologize for loving it so much, your excitement is the most fun part of the video. It's infectious. So, IF you have not yet (I didn't see it on your channel but I could have missed it), how about checking out a video? Misty Mountains by Peter Hollens and Tim Foust. You'll LOVE it, I promise! It's also acapella, which is what Peter does! :)
I just LOVE watching your joy in discovering these artists and songs. If everyone would allow themselves to feel the joy music can bring, the world would be a much better place.
This one is cool :) It's a bit confusing that Avi Kaplan is in the video (and that one of the other members has been replaced by Adam Chance). In the live sing-off version Tim also goes a bit deeper on the final note, which makes the judges go crazy :D Once you've done a reaction on this one, you have to do one of the Home Free cover of "Mayday", where the members have changed a bit on their roles.
I saw a reaction video where the guy did both of their versions of “Ring of Fire,” and he pointed out that the live version on “The Sing-Off” was a half step lower than this one.
It's my dream that Geoff, Tim and Avi form the "Three Basses" and go touring. All three of them are consummate performers, and Geoff and Tim are also very talented arrangers.
I just wanted to say how much happiness you've brought me with your videos. You're enthusiasm and kindness, sweetness, well I'd always hoped to find a woman like you but never did. You bring a lot of joy to my life, thank you!
At around 7:00 when she talks basses having to go high to low.. this is so true. Hardest choir song I recall (musics empire) was like that. Multi octave and went to a high E before then dropping to a low E. Relaxing to hit that low, after the high was a real challenge, it was a brutal bass line to throw at high schoolers.
As much as I love this rendition, watching her face light up whenever there is vocal genius (which is constant), I actually find it even more enjoyable than the song. Your definitely doing what you were meant to do dear lady.
Another earth shaking bit of bass is in their christmas song "Do you hear what I hear" I love seeing your face, the excitement shines through and I can't help but smile too. Thanks for these!
Elizabeth, just seeing you enjoy the performance so much, makes it so much more worthwhile watching. But mostly your comments and insight (due to your training of course) makes it so much more fulfilling. My knowledge of music is dangerous - but you explain everything so brilliantly. It was only when you highlighted the "fry" in Tim's vocal that I could hear it. For me though the most stunning part of his vocal is how long he sustains the note. Freaking heck!!
You are infectious. I love Home Free, and you make them even better. I find myself chuckling and talking to you as the video plays. Best expressions ever. Super great job!
The absolute joy of watching you enjoy music makes my day. Never realized how watching someone who knows good music enjoy something and explain why could make me enjoy it so much more. Thanks!
Avi sang the dwarves song Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold... In Auckland, New Zealand during his last four with Pentatonix. So he brought the dwarves sound back to middle earth. Was chillingly beautiful.
Stumbled across your feed checking out Home Free. Love them and now I think I love you haha. Very beautiful but the best part is watching your face while you are recognizing things and enjoying it. Made me smile! God Bless!
As a basso profundo, it is very refreshing to find someone who really appreciates that vocal range. The additional resonance comes from the chest wall and abdominal muscles - the body parts that you physically feel kick drums, floor toms and low bass through at a rock concert. I've sung for two male voice choirs, and yes I could sing down to G0 clean (off the bottom of a grand piano, in fact) when I was younger, in practice and before 40 years of smoking ruined my voice. It may after being smoke-free since Feb 12th 2017 have recovered reasonably well though - I just managed a rather rocky G0, but having the breath for it is a problem, as I can't stand unaided. Sitting down I did it by laying right back in a recliner, as singing at such low pitches uses a lot or air! I once met a deeper bass, from a visiting Russian male voice choir who we hosted during their tour of the UK, and he could sing so low that you could almost count the Hz! My wife (a casual flautist) reckons that's true of me too, but she may be either exaggerating or thinking of something else. Not quite the control either nowadays, although close enough that practice might get me there, although never again off the bottom of the keyboard! OTOH, I cannot sing in mixed voice choirs as they so often combine baritone and bass - even in the bass parts I sometimes needed to sing down an octave, which I didn't like to do, but which the musical director of one of the choirs encouraged, as he said it made the sound "fatter" and "bulked it out". Not having heard it from the audience, I can't say, but we did get perfect scores in both compulsories at the Llangollen Internation Eisteddfod (I think that is still the only time that has ever happened), although we had to settle for 2nd place in the male voice choir category as two members sang off simultaneously during our final "free choice" song, which put us all off and we drifted - as it was a capella there was no way to correct when that happens - both were poor attendees at rehearsals and our musical director was absolutely incandescent with rage at them - so much that they made their own way home and didn't travel on the bus! In the 40 years since I have never seen anyone as furious - and I hope I never will. I'm not sure if they decided to make their own way or if he told them they were no longer members so not entitled to travel with us. It was justifiable anger though, as it was their lack of rehearsal that cost all of us that win, and he didn't actually get violent - just very, very scary. I actually thought he was going to burst something!. He was easily the best musical director I've ever sung or played (violin) for. I've also sung casually (at the pub, after the show) with Cambridge University's Kings College Singers, the rotating group of students from whom the King's Singers were an offshoot which graduated out. With music school on Saturdays, I had a six-day week from age 11 but gained a solid musical background was a member of 4 orchestras (and occasionally a fifth), two of which I led. However, the divisions between classical and popular and rock singing were harsh in those days (at least in the UK) and so what I performed and what I listened to were completely different. At music school, Messrs Gilbert & Sullivan were considered borderline frivolous and musical theatre was REALLY stretching the limits! So sad that a whole generation grew up with that belief. I much prefer Henk Poort's description - the genre is irrelevant to the quality. Music is either good or it isn't.
Ha, your reactions are priceless, I'm smiling just at your reactions! I love that you love what you're hearing so much, it's so obvious that you're really enjoying listening to it.
I have watched many vocal coaches react to this particular video and every single one of them is shocked and pleased by that final note from Tim. As a bass singer Tim has the largest possible range a bass singer could have being able to go higher than pretty much every other bass singer out there and certainly being able to go lower than just about everyone. This version of this song with Avi and Tim both singing base is just so much fun to see or rather hear the differences in their voices with the different tones they have. It is obvious that all of these guys love what they do and we love listening to them do it.
Miss elizabeth I think you may have swooned for a moment! I have to say you are a wonderful operatic singer and I love the happiness in your eyes when you hear new singers. Plus your smile is infectious! Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm.
As a vocalist, I know exactly what you’re saying about the 2-octave drop. It’s a crazy change in the shape of the throat and palate. If I could go back in time, I would love to be a speech therapist.
Talking about Avi's range, you should check out some of his solo stuff. I recommend Change On The Rise or Get Down. They really show off his higher range better.

This song was written and published by June Carter/Cash and Merle Kilgore in 1963, especially for her husband Johnny Cash, who made the first hit out of it. Great reaction to this one!
If you watch their video... then you should be able to tell which base is singing... I think you are unaware when they are switching off. ... and you seem to be mixing the two base voices up at times; and yes you ought to keep watching them... yes, Tim with the lie growl.
I had the privilege of seeing Home Free at the Kalamazoo State theater in Michigan, which is a very old and dramatically decorated with ( probably fragile) sculptures and props throughout the stage and seating area, and when Tim hit some of his low notes I was actually concerned that some of the decor might fall from the vibration ( seriously) it was that low.. they are absolutely amazing and they have a ton of fun interaction with the audience, lots of laughter and bantering back and forth.. It's an awesome time, you won't regret seeing them live.

I’d heard two other of the songs but the percussion in this one really floored me. Sounded like wood blocks, and snare drums, cymbal, and toms, sometimes at the same time. Like she said, a whole drum kit. Truly impressive.
thank you youtube algorithm for suggesting i watch this video and introducing me to the wonder that is home free
Every now and again, that stupid algorithm gets it right...
The LAST and deepest note at the end is Tim. Avi does a drop in the middle, but he doesn't have Tim's 6 octave range.
This is my favorite reaction. Your energy, and genuine joy are infectious. Thank you
I just love how you are able to pick the single parts out of a sequence just like that.
Thanks! I'm going to have to check this one out...
This has to be the Best reactor out there. I get the biggest kick out of her excitement and facial expressions, they are fabulous.
I just LOVE watching your joy in discovering these artists and songs. If everyone would allow themselves to feel the joy music can bring, the world would be a much better place.
This one is cool :)
It's a bit confusing that Avi Kaplan is in the video (and that one of the other members has been replaced by Adam Chance).
In the live sing-off version Tim also goes a bit deeper on the final note, which makes the judges go crazy :D
Once you've done a reaction on this one, you have to do one of the Home Free cover of "Mayday", where the members have changed a bit on their roles.
I saw a reaction video where the guy did both of their versions of “Ring of Fire,” and he pointed out that the live version on “The Sing-Off” was a half step lower than this one.
Agreed. You should do a reaction to their version of Mayday.
It's my dream that Geoff, Tim and Avi form the "Three Basses" and go touring. All three of them are consummate performers, and Geoff and Tim are also very talented arrangers.
That would be great... With Adam Chance along to sing the high tenor.
@@EarlJohn61 No need. Tim's range goes at least as high as Chance's.
@@roberthudson1959 fact
Scientists are still working on the necessary subwoofer before this can happen.
They'd have to have extra special speakers so they don't blow them hitting those crazy low notes lol.
You’re so into it, I love it 😂 Awesome to see how genuinely happy music can make someone. Great reaction!
I just wanted to say how much happiness you've brought me with your videos. You're enthusiasm and kindness, sweetness, well I'd always hoped to find a woman like you but never did. You bring a lot of joy to my life, thank you!
That low note does make the whole room vibrate. You can physically feel it pushing on your chest.
The singing is unbelievable, and her reactions are magnificent.
God Bless!
That last note live makes your eyeballs shake in your head. I couldn’t see straight. If you get a chance to see them live it is wonderful.
Nice! It's fun that you've been able to sing so low! I much agree with Henk Poort's description as well.
Ha, your reactions are priceless, I'm smiling just at your reactions! I love that you love what you're hearing so much, it's so obvious that you're really enjoying listening to it.
Your eyes. Tim must have just hit the note.
Since she listened to it three times in a row, I'm surprised she didn't need a glass of wine and cigarette after it!!!

Elizabeth, I love you. Your joy and exuberance are totally infectious. Please run away with me.
Even Avi was smiling after pulling off that "Drop"
I'd love to see her expression when opening Christmas presents,,pretty lady with lots of talent
i know the tumbnail moment its the moment the dragon says FIRE. i still hope for a song that avi tim and geoff do together i just need to hear that.
I am loving your enthusiasm, it's so powerful it makes you love music and harmony of voices even more. Thank you so much for your commentary
Miss elizabeth I think you may have swooned for a moment! I have to say you are a wonderful operatic singer and I love the happiness in your eyes when you hear new singers. Plus your smile is infectious! Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm.
If you want to hear a Tim's low note live, "I want crazy" on the sing off performance is the video you have to watch hahahahaha
O. M. G. . . . Elizabeth's reaction at 6:50 when Avi drops eleventy-million octaves is sooooooo cute.
I wish my voice could make a woman as happy as that group makes you!! Love your reactions!
As a vocalist, I know exactly what you’re saying about the 2-octave drop. It’s a crazy change in the shape of the throat and palate. If I could go back in time, I would love to be a speech therapist.
Finally you got to hear Avi...Very nice appearance, and that final Bass! Good job Tim Foust. A G1, Some videos show him doing an A0
The song with A0 is called " Grundy County auction"
The A0 is A1, confirmed by Tim he says his lowest was B0 in down in the boondocks
You NEED to do a reaction to Home Free’s version of “How Great Thou Art”
Yes!
I played it at my mom's funeral. One of their best songs ever.
And "Auld Lang Syne"
Totally agree that one is also amazing!
Talking about Avi's range, you should check out some of his solo stuff. I recommend Change On The Rise or Get Down. They really show off his higher range better.
You are by far the best judge of this type of music. I've listened to many more commentators and you beat them all hollow.
Elizabeth, your spirit is so bright, I almost have to look away at moments.
7:55 : Avis gaze is like "See what I just did there?" :D
Velvet is the right word for Avi's voice. It's like that throughout his entire range. (E flat 1 to C sharp 5)
The Hound + The Fox feat. Tim Foust - We Three Kings. But nothing to worry about: they were lucky, no sand avalanche happened 😁
LOL true....he went very low again
Highly recommend this one, it's so good!
Adding my vote for this!
Love that song and collab!
I think I’m in
Some sort of state of amazement with these guys. Absolute bliss to listen to. Thank you

12:53 It’s not fry, it’s more breathing out. Geoff Castellucci has a video on how he sings and he mentions Tim’s style.

Great reaction. I kindly recomend Oogie Boogie Song with Voiceplay for more good and fun accapella
Yes! If she likes basses with range, Geoff's performance in that is going to blow her mind! Especially the last note!
Agreed especially if u wanna hear low notes
I bet Johnny Cash was so happy! He was singing along in Heaven, and saying, "THAT is how you do my song!"
Written in part by Johnny's wife June Carter-Cash.
Avi and Tim are so good! Both bass line singers, that have incredible voices as well!
Your gleeful and surprised faces just bring me incredible joy. Thank you.
