All I see that's arrived is a nearly 8 year old powertrain stuffed into a gaudy styled car. 0-60 in 4.4 seconds may sound impressive in 2004, but today we have full-size D-ships (Audi S8) that can pull it off in an astonishing 3.7 seconds while returning superior fuel economy than this Lexus! Give me a break!
As always, Toyota's luxury badge is behind the curve.

4.4 sec to 60 is an embarrassment when it has 487 hp. The 370z is about that quick with 332 hp.
The GTR (2009) had similar power [480] with 3.5 sec 0-60.
I guess the automatic transmission and the weight must really suck.
n777ua You're calling a very highly advanced V8 8 years old? The only none hybrid performance engine in the world that goes both otto and atkinson cycle? The first 8 speed car transmission introduced by Toyota that is now tuned to shift just as precise as a DCT? The only thing slowing this vehicle down is it's weight. It's using 3 different platforms to make one and its the heaviest in the segment. That's why it's slower. If they spent extra money on lighter panels, people would start arguing that this car is too expensive because the price justifies the lighter panels. I find it funny when Toyota came out with the 8 speed trans everyone was arguing how 8 speeds are useless etc. Now that everyone has 7 speeds, some 8 speeds and even a 9 speed, people are bashing Toyota for not competing with gear counts.
So what exactly is 8 years old about the drive train?

Kev50027 Well that would probably be because they aren't the German style you are looking for, these are Japanese design trends which us JDM people love.
Also, don't forget that Lexus is one of the only companies in the luxury car group that actually completely redesigns every model they make, unlike BMW, Audi and even something like Rolls Royce.
Lets also not forget that looks are subjective, and keep our biased opinions to ourselves.

I don't know why people complain about the engine being 'outdated'.
It has so much more HP and Torque than E90 M3's V8 yet returns much better MPG, can't u see the progress? and the sound is not bad either.
Love how so many people are saying this car is ugly but if you had the chance to drive one, I highly doubt you'd refuse. :D

Definitely doesn't. The M4 has more torque as it is turbo charged, the chassis is also more refined, better handling. Weighs less, and on top of that if you choose not to go manual, you'll get treated to a DCT and not a slushbox automatic. Those half seconds he was talking about where the car feels like it does nothing? Well those don't exist in the M4. Just saying, the car is cool, but it definitely can't compete with the M4.

while i'm glad they are trying.... but it won't be able to take the ATS V sport or M4 interior wise nor performance wise simply not iconic enough or enough performance. sure it has higher HP but a ton less torque.

And you would be right my friend. I'm just frustrated because I have to keep looking around for a car with a manual I can buy and trade my e46 M3 for. So far after a year of looking, nothing is worth the trade in and I'm just gonna keep driving it over 300,000kms (223,780 kms so far to be exact). So yes I do rage about a manual box everywhere cuz the last dsg in my brother's GTI went to shyt after a few miles and replacing it was worth a premium. But hey, whatever floats your boat. cheers !

i thought BMW stands for Break My Wallet? anyways, the lexus chairman of north america said that "everyone loves to talk about manual transmission, but no one wants to buy one." in other words. this car won't have manual.
Lexus IS the perfection
We use BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Mitsubishi, Toyota, Skoda, VW, Seat, Peugeot's, Citroën, Renaults, Honda and Lexus'es at work. I would personnaly drive a Lexus, not because "beeing fast" concerns (what would be the interest, all the listed cars have strong/fast cars), but because the maintenance costs and repairs will be very clear from the start with the Lexus. In those thing you put oil, change the filters and do some brake changes here and there, and that's it.
On a BMW, Audi and VW, I would always have the mobility insurance ready, because this will be the option you will very probably use.
Honestly it's a work of art. Who know what Lexus has next up there sleeve :)
People think this car is ugly, I don't think it's beautiful but it's definitely mean, interesting, daring, futuristic and different from the norm. I like everything about the design.
Made the ISF even better. Fucking love this car, how it looks, how it sounds, the inside of it, the speed, and oh, its a Lexus. Dragging Ass with Class.

Man I was hoping for so much more from this car. It's price puts it up there with the Stingray and M-4 but I don't think it will perform as good as either. Dang. Was really exited for this car.
Craig, I've said this before. Stop reviewing your personal car collection. You will obviously be quite bias. We know you've owned this RC F since before it was even contemplated as a production model by Toyota executives.

Regardless of whether it's the best in it's class or not, it's a toyota/Lexus v8, literally every v8 lexus has ever used has been bulletproof. This car will be running more or less the same with 2-300k, wouldn't mind getting one in a few years when they drop in price

Not being a massive Toyota guy although, this may be one sick ride to drive!!
Forget about Lexus competing with the other contestants in the segment, these new graphics in the video are competing with the RC F for most garish looks. Not entirely distracting, but it's quite a departure. The dubstep intro segments aren't missed though.
Honestly I dont really care for 0-60 times, we dont do at every stop light. I'd buy this thing just coz its different and that engine sounds fucking great!!! Distinct like the old school AMG 6.2. That car was never as good as the M3 but man did it sound amazing!
The M4 and its other boosted siblings sound very bland, seriously.......
I like the grille actually.
from the rear it reminds me of that collaboration between Subaru and Toyo...the FR-s.
And the side, the top seems heavy, like it's swallowing the windows...
younger buyers can't afford the sticker price lexus has, that's why they go for the scion FR-S

Also not a fan of the partitioned interior. I sat in one at the auto show and there was something uncomfortable pushing against your leg or something annoying like that.

I would drive the utter shit out of this car. It simply looks amazing, especially in that orange. It might be one of the only cars I wouldn't care if it only came with a automatic.
Awesome that they put a V8. Actually really like this car, at least its a lot better than the new M4. Prob not the new c63 tho..

I remember the 2008 era IS-F came very close to beating it's BMW competition. Perhaps the RC-F will finally top them.
Why the hell can't Toyota have the damn balls and common sense to throw a T on things like this and sell it as a Toyota. This thing would make a pretty damn good Supra replacement. Take out some of the fancy materials, give it a manual, give it a turbo, and throw a Supra badge on it!

CACressida How do you know you haven't driven it. It has the potential to be. That new supercar, the FT-1 I think it is will be out of reach for most people that actually lusted after the Supra. This is closer. Take out some of the luxury to drop the cost, give it some suspension tweaks, big brakes, and a manual transmission and I think it'd be a damn good Supra. The Supra was a car that begged to be built upon, let this car be the same. You sound like you want the factory to do all the work for you. That's half the fun. That's why I bought my base Mustang GT Track Pack. No extra stuff just the essentials and Recaro seats.
You haven't been to my channel or else you'd know I modify my own shit. This car isn't a good candidate to be a Supra because this car is about 600 pounds heavier than the heaviest Supra, and this is built off sedan chassis where the Supra was born off a dedicated sports coupe chassis. The RC-F won't even benefit much from lighter external body parts because of the Frankenstein platform it's riding on.
If Toyota were to build another Supra, it'd probably be built off a light weight and very good chassis like the FRS.

This car actually sounds like a super car and it even almost drives like one. Call me crazy but I might prefer this over a 2015 Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4.

if i'm not mistaken turbocharging is cheaper than N/A
if you want to increase the horsepower of a turbo, you just raise the preassure
if you want to increase the horsepower of a N/A you need to increase the compression ration, chenge the valve and ignition timing, increase airflow in and out of the cylinder and fit new high compression pistons
fuck you, N/A > turbos. Turbos downsize the engine, introduce turbo-lag, less throttle immediacy, less noise and less fun.

Some people dont like the turbo lag much less the turbo silence it makes to the motor. Besides this motor is clever it will activate Atkinson cycle and delivers a nifty 19 mpg combined thats amazing for a 467hp V8.

IDK about you all, but the rear reminds me of the FR-S/BRZ twins.
To be honest I'd still rather get the 2015 Mustang GT over this because even though this has +30hp, the GT has more torque, has the same mpg and costs probably half of what this is going to be priced at. 30% of what you're paying really is because of the badge on the car which goes with any other luxury automakers out there.
Actually a Mustang GT can't exactly compare to this from an engineering standpoint. You're talking about a very advanced high revving engine, slick gearbox and a fancy rear diff. The Mustang Boss 302 compares more with this RCF than a Mustang GT and the Boss 302 costs just as much as a RCF with less horsepower.
Are you kidding? A loaded GT will top $40k and still have a third rate interior and shares a chassis with $20k Hertz rental cars. This RC-F is in a different league. Not to mention Toyota reliability.
This Lexus basically has what's known as a "built" engine with forged internals and titanium rods...think LS7. Did you see the massive brakes? The automatic spoiler? The E-diff that uses two small electric motors, two multi-plate clutches and a set of planetary gears for each driveshaft. I could go on and on but I won't.
+Pube83 dont forget the activating Atkinson Cycle which improves the fuel economy, also better resale value than its class.
To make an absurd statement like that automatically disqualifies you from driving a Lexus. This car is too much class for you, little boy!!

Well yes we can do something about there not being a manual. Complain that there isn't a manual. And purchase a competitor that offers one. I do like the engine. Naturally aspirated v8.. Glorious.

If only it had an optional manual transmission... I guess Im just gonna have to get use to cars coming with out a manual option... Its really disappointing, but if I do end up purchasing this, I'll swap an MK4 Supra 6speed into it.

I was worried that a sport two door coups were dying. But we have T86/BRZ, Lexus RC, bmw as always. But affordable two door sports are dying off? There arent many great looking good performance two door sports left on the new market :(

It's kinda pricey. Maybe im alone in this but Sub 40k with a turbo 4 and a manual and I'd be tempted. As it is it doesn't appeal to me much.

Lexus Is like the Chrysler of Japan. Chrysler should should make a luxury sports car coupe. With the hellcat or 6.4. Would be pretty amazing if they did. I would rather have the 6.4 tho. The hellcat isn't practical. Since at full potential it burns all its gas in 15 minutes.
BMW M4 is still better, but I would understand if some people did chose this over the M4. Still M4 is overall, better.

$44K is still for CEOs and drug dealers. I have a great job but 1/3 of my monthly take home goes to taxes. So I wouldn't be able to afford this car until it was about 8-10 years old, that's just for the base model.
