Great review!! You hit the nail on its head about Lexus’ V8 performance line. The car is about emotion and character, not track times. I’ve had my IS500 for over 2 years at 27k miles, and I’m still in love with this thing. Thanks for posting! 👍🏽

All the twin turbo and tech cant match the experience of what is a very confident and memorable driving experience. Great review of a mighty Japanese machine.

The rear vent on the back bumper are in fact functional. Every vent on the RCF is functional. I love my 2020. You never see these cars anywhere and no one knows what the hell they are. They just think it's a typical lexus. Then you take off and people are suprized that it has an 8 cylinder under the hood. It's comfortable, sounds awesome (when you change the exhaust), and is just a nice place to be inside. Yes I'd love more HP but honstly it has zero issues getting into triple digit speeds. I was cruising almost at 95 effortlessly driving to work early in the morning, and when I looked down I was surprized I was going that fast. Very stable and planted.
Exactly right, it's a sporty muscle/GT car, that is not a pure track car, but can be enjoyable on the track if one so wishes. A very underrated and misunderstood car, future classic me thinks. Think luxury Mustang with a sportier edge.
Yes, a luxury Mustang GT or a Camaro SS is a good analogy. Comparing it to a Challenger, is borderline criminal. That thing is a huge honking floating boat. Neither Supra nor M2 are dedicated track cars either. They cannot hold a candle to something like a Cayman around a race track, which is what I call a proper track car.
This is one of those cars where "no one wants them" and then somehow they never become cheap in the grey market because everyone is elbowing each other to buy it.
I have 220k miles on my 2015 GS 350 F sport and I have 0 issues as well car still feels brand new . Lexus makes great cars that will last a life time !
I've had my 2018 RCF since new. You're spot on with your review. I keep telling people, it's a Japanese Mustang. It's a muscle car and I love it for that. It's big, loud and powerful. It's not really a track car (although it is quite capable). It's not as fast as an M4 or C63, but that doesn't matter. Long after those two cars have fallen apart, the RCF will still be going. PS - You can turn off a lot of those speed limit alarms and seat belt warnings if you can get Toyota Techstream 😁

Good review. I agree it should not be compared to a Supra (even though, a Supra is not a dedicated track car either and it is a 2 seat GT sporty luxury car unlike a Porsche Cayman that is a pure 2 seater sports car). Only thing, there is nothing in common between an RCF and a Challenger. If you had said, Camaro SS or Mustang GT, that would be a good point as RCF is a similar formula with more luxury, but Challenger is absolutely a huge 4400 lbs boat with flimsy chassis and suspension. RCF is not meant to go in a straight line. Like you said, it is officially over 70 percent different than a base RC. These days, muscle cars like Camaro SS, Mustang GT or the RCF are meant to do extremely well on the racetrack. Many RCF owners do competitive time attacks on track. That is why RCF has all of the cooling systems, a stiff suspension, big Brembo brakes, big wheels and high-performance summer tires etc. It was developed over two years in 2013 - 2014 on various tracks around the world especially Nurburgring and Fuji. It circles the skid pad at almost 1.00g all day without losing grip. Over 2 years, they designed and tuned the RCF around many tracks in the world. Nürburgring and Fuji are the two most dominant ones. I own an RCF with carbon and TVD myself. I tracked it a few times. It does phenomenally well around the race track.
This RCF is the best F car they made it out of Japan. The history of RCF is just as legendary as this vehicle is, it was built from ground up on a bespoke chassis which was engineered from IS, GS and SC on the sole purpose of Track experience (it was built on Fuji speedway and Nurburgring) for every driver and it shows the car feels like a tank. With the TVD Slalom mode it feels like a missile at high speed turns and highway triple digit numbers. The interior has zero rattle or squeaks or any sorts. It's all leather interior as well. This is the best car for anyone who like a superb driver centric coupe with a sonorous motorsport and fairly powerful engine. I love this car, it even bests LC 500 in it's driving dynamics and performance, you can track it all the way and it won't budge. Also CD Player with Aux port is a massive plus. I want my music to be precise as this with high quality FLAC content to suit this engineering masterpiece of an art. Fantastic review, I still visit it time to time.

My favorite part of these interiors/some exterior is that they can retrofitted to 2014 - 2024 Lexus IS/RC models, I retrofitted the entire center console (Knob Edition), Borderless Rearview mirror, Front Dome light, Airbag Cover, Premium Paddle Shifters and BBK into my 2018 IS; mixed in with real Carbon fiber window trim + Lexus NX Chrome window button switches and Carbon fiver glove box trim and it makes any older Lexus IS car feel refreshed from the day they bought it at least. As long as you like simple the interior is something I always love being in, when they finally get away from this interior I cant wait to see what else we can remove and retrofit onto older cars :) Sound deaden the whole car with dynamax and man does it feel lovely.
Very solid review. It's a shame they have this speed limiter. In North America, USA there's no warning like that but it's horrible that we do not get that Memory seat setting, they removed it from 2022. Also we do not get Auto Mirrors either. They keep axing a lot of features of this car just to keep it running for the GT3 homologation. TVD has been put to rest since 2022 across the world though sadly.

What if you have one and you haven't seen it go back to the dealership and ask for it ..if it's someone's car you've never seen it in maybe they took it out or if not tell them to go back and get it from the dealership..because yes they come with a spare ..every lexus still does that ..unlike alot of other car companies of lately.
Steering wheel pivoting around a fixed point is old school tilt wheel design probably dating to the 70s or even earlier. I don't think it's trying to be a muscle car, I think it's trying to be a Lexus.
The problem with this car is not the car itself, it’s the price. Yes, the interior is nice in an outdated sort of way, but it’s also CHEAP. For over 70,000 buckeroos we can’t even get leather on the horn button of the wheel??? Plastic creaks everywhere as well. Concerning the engine, yes it’s very nice. However, it’s so subdued and boring. You really have to mash the pedal down to get power which is the exact opposite on any Mustang or M2. For me the car is gorgeous but is a fair bit overpriced. I just feel like we make too many justifications for this car. “It’s a Japanese muscle car that’s not meant to be as fast as other muscle cars, not supposed to be able to turn.” “The interior isn’t supposed to be like a modern car, it’s nice that it’s dated with plastic everywhere and an odd touch control system we don’t even use.” “It’s okay that the entire trunk is taken up by a heavy af spare tire.” For me the question arises, what are we paying for? The money isn’t going to an updated interior, nor is it in superior tech, nor is it in an engine that is meant to outperform other cars, nor is the engine note any different than any budget V8 in any other Camaro, Challenger/Charger, or Mustang. Just an odd miss by Lexus imo just for the single fact that it’s $70,000 and you can get an M2, AMG, RS3, Dark Horse, and Supra all for less than that. Just my opinion though.
ur not buying a lexus to win races or set track records!!!!!! if ur trying to do that in any lexus ur missing the point. this is for if you want that 5.0 mustang but something nicer on the inside. or more reliable for long hauls. its fun on track too but if you're trying to beat an M4 coupe around the corner just do yourself a favor and look at a diff brand
7abibi that car is very slow honestly Yeah it fun to drive sure it sounds good too But the interior is so outdated and it's so annoying to get smoked by almost every inline six made after 2019 when you are driving a v8 supposedly 467hp (realistically 360whp) lol
Other journalists aren’t wrong. They actually say they enjoy the look and what this Lexus is about. But they criticize its performance, interior, and transmission. They are 100% correct on their criticisms. Why? Because Lexus tried to directly compare this car to the M3. You simply dont do that unless you have a car that performs like an M3, which this car doesn’t. This is a new car using an old engine and platform. Lexus can make all the body vents they want lol. It’s not fooling anyone. It’s a great long-term reliable sporty car. But it’s far from being anything more than that.
Thank you. I wrote a very similar comment. Yes, this car is fantastic, but with a $70,000 base price tag, it just doesn’t do enough. Any M car blows this thing out of the water.

Steering wheel pivoting around a fixed point is old school tilt wheel design probably dating to the 70s or even earlier. I don't think it's trying to be a muscle car, I think it's trying to be a Lexus.
Imagine if there was a manual option
Is honestly rather lose the spare wheel for a flat and usable trunk
Great review
RC = Retro Coupe?
RCF is beautiful
I'll never sell my ISF, It is a near perfect car.
damn i need a rear diffuser
Great review! Agreed all the way
The problem with this car is not the car itself, it’s the price.
I think that RC stands for racing coupe

ur not buying a lexus to win races or set track records!!!!!! if ur trying to do that in any lexus ur missing the point. this is for if you want that 5.0 mustang but something nicer on the inside. or more reliable for long hauls. its fun on track too but if you're trying to beat an M4 coupe around the corner just do yourself a favor and look at a diff brand
You are very handsome and smart
What does RCF stand for? It doesn’t even matter! (the rock voice)
I like this video, but I dont want to ruin the 666 🎉
Not your regular software/programmer car. LOL!
LMAO yeah, nowadays car looks made for Geeks/nerds obsessed with electronics.
Cars should be as possible as mechanic...
Good video
7abibi that car is very slow honestly
Yeah it fun to drive sure it sounds good too
But the interior is so outdated and it's so annoying to get smoked by almost every inline six made after 2019 when you are driving a v8 supposedly 467hp (realistically 360whp) lol
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🙏
