The only major change that people like is the creature comfort of apple and google CarPlay. And that the center info screen went from not filling the whole opening to a widescreen edge to edge display. I think that happened in 18. The early small screen ones have a bad screen anti glare applied to them that scratches if you look at it. It can be fixed for 0 dollars though. I’ve had zero issues not having CarPlay/large screen because I use “hey siri” to control my phone whenever im in a car anyway.

    The RCF is very liked in the Nordschleife community.
    Some of the regulars have RCF's for the reason you quoted in this video. They don't want to buy another dedicated track car, with all that is linked to it (storage unit, trailer, insurance, set of tires, etc).
    The RCF, in this way, is ideal. You come home from work, stop at the track, do one or two laps, and go home.
    Over and over again.
    In regard of "deterioration on the track". The ISF is now fairly old. And we can see some of them driving around with fairly high mileage (270'000 miles f.ex), and still clocking at the Nordschleife to do laps. I believe that this is linked with the fairly undertuned nature of the 2UR. Even if you drive him hard on the track, I think he's still way under what he could theoritically make in hp, RPM and torque numbers. But it's just my two cents.

    • @notreallyjuan
      @notreallyjuan 3 месяца назад

      Youd be correct. Toyota’s secret sauce to bulletproof motors is understressing their motor designs. If you look around, almost all n/a Toyota motors are tuned below the 100hp/L threshold, compared to competitors. 2UR-GSE is 5.0L with 472hp -> 94hp/L. Also definitely helps that they love making motors with very stiff reinforced crankcases, forged internals, and well reinforced engine blocks. I heard somewhere that the stock 2UR-GSE can be good for up to 900hp without grenading itself (plenty of supercharged RCFs and ISFs are in the 700s with minimal work and are running healthy!)

    Nice review & advice! I laughed out lout at the Starbucks comment because you're right, most people +will not+ track their cars. For street driving dynamics, swap out the OEM Bridgestones for Michelin PS4S tires, install a racing air filter, pop that bad boy into Manual & Sport S+, and the Mr. Hyde side of the IS 500 is just_as_capable. I drove the RC F at the Lexus Performance Driving School and the car looks freaking awesome, but I found it to be very heavy and not as nimble. The IS 500 is way more nimble in my personal opinion. Interestingly enough the LC 500 on the track shrank itself around you and was much more nimble, which shocked the hell out of me! At any rate, all of the Lexus performance cars are great, but you have to commit to keeping them in pristine condition. The gas and consumables (tires, brakes, oil, etc) will cost money, so be prepared and don't do the Merc, Audi, or Bimmer thing and participate in the 'Delayed Service' trick. That's not fair to the car and truly a basic move. 😒🙄 Thanks for posting! 🙂

    Bought my 2019 RC F two years ago with 6K miles and it is still breaking necks because no one really knows what it is. Most think it's the RC200/300/350. Preowned and new prices remain fairly high because folks know that the Lexus V8 is coming to an end, and reliability of course. The GS-F (V8) was discontinued a couple years ago and now you'd be lucky to find one. Lexus messed up by not making the IS500 the new ISF. The IS500 is beautiful and has the V8 but still comes up short of a true "F" car. I'll be swapping my RC F for the LC500 pretty soon!

    Love this video! I have a 2022 RCF I bought brand new And then a 2019 ES 350 F with 115,000 miles on it also purchased brand new and have had No issues! For me it’s the reliability and quality of a Lexus. I chose RCF instead of IS F 500 because of IS F seeming too similar to my ES plus not a coupe or a viable track option. But I’m not surprised Lexus struggles to sell them as you mentioned because you really have to look at what your getting buying a car like this.. its heavy, quieter but also a great daily driver not just a track car but it also can be and that’s the whole package in my eyes.
    My main complaint is the damn turn signal in the RCF, it wasn’t broken so why fix it. The way it bounces back is so inconvenient. For example, switching lanes and using your turn signal, you have to manually turn it off. The car won’t do it itself and when you turn it off it’s easy to turn on the opposite turn signal because of the bouncing it does. Now if this is the worst issue I have with the car then life will go on, but I just don’t get why they changed it. maybe someone will have a good answer for me. Truly I don’t understand why it was a good idea…
    Thanks for the Video, great overview 🤘🏼

    The problem with IS 500 is Front Apron Bumper sag. It happens even on the IS 350 line, there's a flex issue or some flaw in the design sadly. I really love IS 500 but that bumper issue is a sad thing that will eventually show-up, Clublexus has info that TSB will be done for a permanent fix coming soon for IS 500 only, but I really cannot trust if that is going to be permanent since no IS 350 line got such news on the sag, and currently only a bumper bracket fix was done by dealers but sag is back again. I have an IS 500 it's a solid car but I'm contemplating for a new RC F trade, will lose 2 doors but gain a better body structure and a real F car and potential post warranty headache with bumper flex sagging issue.

      Update in 2024. Yea the lexus TSB is horrible and it kills the bumper further. Skip the IS 500. There's a community fix but it is not going to be a real fix from the design point of view. Also chassis is not great like RC F. I'm just going to swap my IS 500 for an RC F even though I will get downgrades like no Lexus memory driver seat, no engine bracing (removed those shock tower braces from 2023+).

  • @abradic
    @abradic 2 месяца назад

    The LC500 is a beautiful car. The interior is excellent, the look is excellent, but it's not necessarily the better buy for everyone. The RC F is a great looking car, and has a great looking interior as well. The LC is definitely the nicer car, but I would take the RC F over it. The RC F is 400 lbs lighter, is a more raw experience compared to the LC, the trans cooler and oil cooler are great for the times you want to pound on it, and seems to be the car that will give you more feedback while still giving you that Lexus experience. Put on all the bolt ons and it sounds incredible. The biggest flaw was not putting that 10-speed in the RC F. Had Lexus made the RC F at 3600 lbs with that 10-speed, it would have sold like crazy. The LC is definitely the more luxurious car, but I like that the RC F has just enough luxury while being more performance oriented.

    - it's heavy for a sport car
    - a little bit slow automatic gearbox when you compare it to other sport cars
    - the price

      I def agree with you my friend, these things certainly don't have to happen to every person that buys these cars.

      So they look for the most busted F car with 200k miles and I just want to protect those individuals.
      You might be blessed enough where one of your cars can simply disappear from your driveway and you would not even be phased but sadly, that's not the situation for many people and there's no videos to help those individuals either.

    Track edition is the worst version to buy not least because its barely any sportier than the normal version but its got carbon ceramic brakes £$£$£$£$ to replace, carbon roof, sills, wing $££$£$ if you damage those. • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  8 месяцев назад +1

      This is the biggest problem with Lexus products, they suck on paper and specs is what the average consumer will always look at. It's not your fault my friend not everyone has the opportunity to test every new vehicle that comes out so you can only go off of the specs. The reality is the LC just feels so much more special despite using the same engine, it sounds nothing like the RC F, IS 500, or GS F.
      Most importantly, it just drives different and hits different. You will only understand this if you've driven all these cars and driven some of the competitor products. Again, I understand this is almost impossible for the average person to achieve because if you go to a Lexus dealership to test drive these cars without the intent on buying, they will spit in your face and the same goes for rival car dealers as well.

    • @lostalx
      @lostalx 16 дней назад

      Well that's true also Lexus really started cutting corners with RC F they barely sell so bean counters ruin the cars. RC F dropped Torque Vectoring Diff from 2022 onwards and they dropped the Lexus driver memory as well from that year plus now in 2023 they removed the engine bracing. As for IS 500 it is fast but it is not having solid chassis, personal experience as I own an IS 500, the F treatment I thought was not big deal until I test drove an RC F. It's a lot, the RC F handles way better, the low ride is far more suited for the NA V8 and the entire car is better in rigidity plus bigger brakes and ton of cooling, it's built from ground up to handle the 2UR-GSE unlike 3IS which is a shrunk of GS and had franken GS F front end subframe to accommodate the V8 and guess what ? the engine weight and power causes the IS 500 to have bumper sag which Toyota/Lexus are not fixing (released a TSB in 2024 and it's garbage as it ruins the bumper further, only fix is a clublexus community one which is not a design fix but a bandaid)

    The worst car owned in my life was 2007 ls460, 5 major faults, all 32 valve springs had to be replaced because of faulty metal, all fuel lines replaced due to leaking, engine starter replaced, and brakes failed. Next, 2017 lexus rcf, brakes failed at 13,500 miles, got rid of it. Never will buy another lexus. Research brake failures on these cars. Also valve springs, fuel lines & starters. IMO, no excuse for poor quality parts & expensive at that. Somebody at toyota has their head in the sand.

      C8 has DCT problems, the Automatic Trans in that is a bust, GM did changes and still the DCT fails. The car is not worth the cash as the cost is too high over an RC F and won't last 50K miles without DCT failure let alone 100-300K miles that 2UR can handle with ease.
