I’ve watched your video about 3 times and I feel confident about installing this PCB into my 8bitdo arcade stick. I ordered it and am anxiously waiting for it to come!!
Awesome thanks for the guide! I was recently fortune in getting a ton of overtime hours during my birthday month and was able to get some mod stuff for my fightstick including the Brook wireless board. Will be running your video during the build. Once again thanks!
I'm glad you liked the guide! Sounds like you're going to have some modding fun too. Tweet me some pictures when you're finished. I'd love to see your mods.
You answered my question in STEP 4 lol :) so I guess I need to buy the HITBOX cable harness to connect to the 5-pin on the Fighting board cable and then wire the joystick the same way as if I had button there, ground on COM and colored wires on Normally Open and it should work.
Amazing video dude. I had tried making a hitbox/fightstick combo but was completely at a loss. I appreciate how your video is step by step all other manuals or videos just say install the wiring.
It took me a while to find your video which is one of the best instructionals for the ufb boards so thank you for that! I dunno if Brooks knows about your video or not but they should and need to showcase it. I'm just curious if the battery gets charged when you connect the usb to a console or pc. Thanks again for your awesome tutorial!!!❤
Appreciate the video! My kit should be arriving soon and can't wait to try it. Also, funny thing about the Nintendo Switch: the wired input method is so bad that connecting wirelessly actually enhances your latency! I still cannot wrap my head around this. This might the the only console where it happens, too.
It’s because of how the switch handles wired usb connections. It has to go through the usb hub. It adds another level to the the signal it has to go through and drops the polling rate. The truth about the switch is that speed running will have numerous issues due to the latency issues. Wireless simply isn’t good enough. The best wireless devices possible with 1ms polling (impossible on the switch mind you) pull about 6ms. Knowing there is 16ms per frame and 60 frames in a second, the likelihood that your input arrives on the exact frame you intent is quite low. Sad really.
I am looking for something specific, and that is to have some sort of LED indicator to know if my device is sync or not, is this available in this video? I am a beginner with this and am not sure what LED to get and where I might be able to plug it into id the led for turbo is taken. @DrSmoores
If the LED for the turbo is taken you could use an led bulb that has a 5v wire and a ground wire and connect them to those spaces on the screw terminal.
@@DrSmoores last question, I heard that if I use a ps3 battery I dont need to change anything but if i get a li polymer battery 2000mAh from adafruit, that I need to take out the harness and reverse the red and black cable and put back the harness. I want to know if this is true or bro science. And why do we need to reverse. www.adafruit.com/product/2011
wow much easier than I'd think. no soldering required. very nice. thanks for this. definitely going to use this if I ever feel brave enough to mod my stick. just curious, is it absolutely necessary to switch out the wires? I feel like you can just switch the board and install the antenna/port etc and wire those up. I guess I haven't opened up my stick in a while. I'll have to see how easy it is. the reason I'm even entertaining this is for something so vane lol
You could probably just use the wires that are in your stick. Just cut them and screw the threads into the terminal slots on the Brook board. I used the wire brackets they sell because I figured most beginners won’t feel comfortable cutting wires just yet. Custom wiring is actually the next intermediate video lol.
@DrSmoores is the L3,R3,touch cable the same cable I would need to use if I want to use turbo? that is a 4 pin connector on one side 6 wires quick connect on the other?
Thanks! I’m glad you like the videos. I don’t think a wireless would work. For the TES sticks you’d need an EzMod pcb from ArcadeShock and those come with the universal board. You might be able to swap the universal for a wireless, but I’m not sure since I don’t have an EzMod pcb to try. Here’s a link for the EzMod: arcadeshock.com/products/ez-mod-for-te2-brook-universal-fighting-board-w-soldered-connectors-kit
@@madmarv8876 if you want the wireless board you’re going to have to modify a stick. There’s nothing compatible out of the box. Honestly, I’d recommend buying a case and the parts yourself and building a stick. You can buy a great case to build from FocusAttack or Junkfood Arcade and then buy the buttons, wires, stick, and board. The cases from those places are made to work seamlessly with the Brook boards.
How do I use the Brook Fighting cable harness for a joystick that doesn't have the JST connector board? For example I have a pair of IL Lorenzo Eurojoystick that just has the switches on the bottom, no JST 5 -pin connector. Do I just cut the JST connector off and attach those wires with quick disconnect U-clips to the joystick so that everything connects via that 20-pin connector or should I run separate wires for that?
You can use the turbo switch to have a turbo button function which would make the inputs fire quickly like a turbo button on a regular controller. You really don’t need to worry about it.
If you have the 20 pin harness they’re the red, white, and gray wires. If you’re using the screw terminal there’s slots for each of those buttons to insert a wire. .
