This video is so well made. Perfectly describes the issue I'm having. I appreciate that you include clear step-by-step instructions, are honest about prices, and also show things realistically like the difficulty getting the parts apart due to rust. May end up trying this on my own. Thanks!
I have a washer with this problem, I will be trying this today. I loved your video. It was very informative, I wish more Techs can do theirs like this. Thank you
Thank you so much! You saved us a ton of money! We had 6 dimes under there and some hair wrapped around the small cap and it needed cleaned! I do use white vinegar to run through a cycle and clean it every now and then! It was making an awful noise. Running like a dream right now!
Man was it agitating to get the agitator off…😂 once off I noticed my hub needed replacing and my metal shaft has some wear, but I think it still has life,🤞🏻 I’m sure it will strip the new hub faster than OEM, but time will tell.
Man hopefully you have saved me done what you said took washer plate off and plastic gear was stripped out but spline gears were good waiting on parts now and will let you know thanks again washer man!!
Just wanted to let you know got the hub spinning part and got it fixed and now our washer has never run this quite and good 👍 thanks again for your video!!
Since the shaft teeth are gone anyway, you wouldn't lose anything by modifying the shaft to lock into the hub. Several different things you could do but perhaps the two easiest would be to grind matching keyways into the shaft and hub... I would do two of them opposite each other and use a piece of 1/4 round bar or bolt as a key.... The other option if you have a small enough right angle drill.... make a hole all the way through the hub and shaft, then insert a roll pin or bolt. Otherwise, if you can get both parts clean enough, you might try marine grade JB Weld, but that would be the least preferred method.
I'm having a similar problem now. A buddy is coming over later to help me look at it. I tried replacing the plastic hub drive part with a metal one. That didn't resolve the issue. I'll take a closer look at my drive shaft.
Thank you so much for this video! I'm trying to figure out why my year 2014 washer (Whirlpool #WTW4900BW) is not spinning the clothes as dry as it should. Is the wash plate supposed to move independently from that outer bottom ring and is it also supposed to spin very easily?
As a last resort... w/the drive splines all worn down. and the machine basically scrap.... I would try to install either the new or original part back on using a good 2 part epoxy like J.B. weld or equivalent. Then, after proper curing time, I'd suggest try to use the machine, if it works for a short or long time, at least you will have time to make arrangements for a replacement either new or used.
I got the 7/16 nut of and did everything to pull the plastic up and wont budge. I used wd 40 put screws into the holes attached to 10g wire. Nothing. I tilted machine on side and braced with my feet and wont budge. Are you sure there is not another clip or screw under the washer? I've been tugging for 3 hrs now. Any advice ? Thanks again
There is not another clip on the model shown in this video... I actually had the same problem as you and put a 2x4 across the top and strapped the 2 wires to a tie down strap... pulled it tight... then put the 7/16 bolt back in (not all the way) and tapped it with a hammer to break it loose. It was rusted solid and as you saw in my video and the shaft /gears were toast... Poor design. Many machines will not be this difficult and can be repaired. When you get yours off it may or may not be worth repairing?...
We have a Maytag washing machine that we bought new in 9/21. It doesn't spin out the clothes unless you put it in the drain and spin setting. Won't spin out the clothes in any other setting.
If the plastic gear, between the basket and spin shaft, is damaged broken, Would you still hear the motor working but not able to spin the basket ?? Mine works fine but doesnt drain ( yes, new pump fitted, also pump is clear and clean and works as it should if wired direct to 110v ) but i also have NO spin, No noise from the motor but also No power being delivered to the drain pump... ( no breakages in the 2 wires that feed the drain pump ( continuity on the meter down each wire ) .. WHAT feeds power to the pump that i can replace to try?? Many thanks if someone has the answer... ( Machine is a Frigidaire Laundry Station with the gas dryer over the top loaded washer.. Approximately 8-10 yrs old but idk as it came with the house and hadnt been used much )
Saw this same repair in another video. They make a metal hub that you can use instead of a plastic hub. The stronger teeth might have enough grab on the worn shaft to extend life for awhile. Disappointed he did not try a metal replacement.
The troubleshoot booklet is hidden inside the machine . behind that America decal . I found out that if the drain pump jams , the machine will not work .
Use a large flat head screwdriver… Stick it into the closed end of the clip (The bottom of the U) And twist it. That should get the clip started to come out and then you can work its way out.
did you unplug it for several minutes and try again? there's a way to reset without unplugging. I don't remember it. I know it's been a month. update us if you feel like it
Hi, just curious how you can tell that it won’t spin on the wash cycle? I’m assuming yours is like mine where it locks during use so you can actually see inside? Thanks!
I have another question the washer we took out ,the one I fixed we are using ,I have another one that won’t stop filling up it runs over and I replaced the water filling part that connects hoses that didn’t help , what do you think it is thanks!
If your washer is filling with too much water, the two sets of contacts on the water level switch may have fused. Or there may be a leak in the pressure hose or air dome tube, which connect the switch to the tub. You can also check out this video starting at 4:15 ruclips.net/video/wyQTKBj03cI/видео.html
Hi! I have an older Whirlpool washer that won’t spin and makes a horrible noise! how do I find the model number so I can try and find parts? The only # on the lid is 4217141 or do I need disconnect and pull it out? I’m a 67 year old woman and don’t want to pull it all the way out if I don’t need to
Maytag MVW7232HW Topload F9E1 Error code , professional has replaced the drain pump and hose but still showing code? Now they want to replace motherboard but reading online says the Drain Filter ? Washer is 4 years old.
My "admiral" brand washing machine had the problem of no spin cycle, i lived with it for awhile but now theres no movement whatsoever, so i'm done with that thing and just replaced the whole machine
My Kenmore 500 series will drain but not spin at the end of the cycle but instead acts like it's trying to agitate instead but stops and says complete and of course the clothes are still wet...you can run it through its calibration cycle and it spins fine...im stumped and its only 6 years old.
This is exactly what's happening to my whirlpool washer just bought it new 6 months ago and of course they never warranty them longer than that , such a crock lol, single mom , and I'm not handy at all I don't even know what some of this stuff means lol
This happened to me too, but then I noticed the replacement part is not 100% lined up. There's a spot where the bolt holes look aligned, but it doesn't seat down all the way. Then there's a spot that seats easily but the bolt holes look 70% aligned. I had to place the drive hub where it could seat allllll the way down before the clip would go in, but then it was night and day easier!!!
What if it doesn’t have the drive hub? I went step by step pulled up the wash plate and saw that there was no drivehub. So I figured it just might be the model. Mvwb765fw2
Sounds like yours is really rusted in place. I would try to soak it good with something like PB Blaster or some other product to free up the rust. As it is soaking... maybe over a couple days... keep trying your impact driver. The hammering effect is helpful in breaking things loose. The only problem is if your screw is rusted solid it may break the screw. Hope it works out for you. A side note.....Years ago we had a stuck well at our farm. It was connected to a wind mill and frozen solid. We were advised to pour Coke down the well and low and behold it worked. Not sure what affect that may have on your washer?
@@helpinguonline I grabbed some PB the same time I got the driver. Also used a regular 7/16 wrench and hammered the sides. Then used my steam cleaner to see if that would loosen. Tried the impact driver again last night and accidentally let go of the plate while using it and noticed the bolt was just spinning. Figured it’s stripped now, and from my further research on that, I diverse that the transmission shaft is shot. Which isn’t worth the replacement in terms of money and buying a used washer from the local appliance store. But, from watching a lot of your videos I’ve learned things if anything ever needs to be fixed again. When I started I told myself the worst I could do was break it worse than it already was! Your videos helped instill some confidence in me for future repair jobs as a 33 yr old woman! And that’s just as worthy of fixing the original problem to me. So thanks for your helpful comments and videos!
That could be the case as it was for me on this repair. I am not real impressed with this style washer. Sorry I couldn't help more. I admire your effort and the impact driver you purchased should come in handy for other projects... God Bless you and lead you in His care...
without seeing it… I would think you either do not have it seated all the way down or lined up properly. I would double check that. It may be a Tight fit with your new drive hub.
This happened to me too, but then I noticed the replacement part is not 100% lined up like the original. There's a spot where the bolt holes look aligned, but it doesn't seat down all the way. I won’t even lie, I dropped a screw in one of those holes. Anyone know how to access whatever is under so I can get it? It also seems like I’ve got some coins in those holes too that have been stuck so it’d be nice to take them out!
That's not a real agitator, it's just a plate with a hump on it that some wizkid "enginee" convinced the company that it would work like a real agitator. This is one of the reasons these new washers won't get clothes clean. The other reason is they are "energy "efficient" meaning they don't use enough water to clean your clothes either.

I did as you described, put wd-40 forty and did the job to take it out, thank you

in your video today can you show how to pull down the outer driver drum of the GE top load of washer in the front panel?

Glad it was helpful!
Order a metal drive hub. It comes as a kit that'll squeeze on to the shaft splines. You'll need to buy the spanner wrench, as well.
Thank you Helping u Online., Perfectly explained as a good Master.🙏
Glad it was helpful!
Could you attach the drive hub to the shaft? Would that work if you were able to do it?

Some parts are meant to be sacrificial to protect other more expensive parts.
I have an old washer that the motor burned out on. Kept it for spare parts. How likely is it for the drive shaft to fit the washer I'm trying to fix?
Great job your video help me to fix my problem
Glad it helped
Yee HAAA!. You are a genius! Thanks so much for your great video
You're welcome!
Thank you, this fixed my problem!

Nice, Thank You.
Ok what happens if you do “create another problem “ & drop the screw down? What do I do lord??😭
I got the washer plate off. Ive unscrewed the hub and pulled the pin out. I cant get the plastic hub off the shaft.
Trying this solution, but the plastic retaining clip is stuck and wont slip out, any tips on how to get it out to check underneath?
Use a large flat head screwdriver… Stick it into the closed end of the clip (The bottom of the U) And twist it. That should get the clip started to come out and then you can work its way out.
Good tutorial, thank you for sharing
thanks for your visit
Great job god bless

the spline on the upper part and the impellor bushing ....so it s Shot???

Hello, My washer will not spin on wash cycle BUT when put on rinse and spin only it works fine. Do you know what the issue may be?
Check/test your timer to make sure it is operating properly. There should be videos available to show you how to do that

Metal hub and JB weld and I'm using it until the rest wears out .
