This is by far the best video for belt replacement. The step by step instructions and explanations are great. I replaced my belts, washer did not function, would not spin after watching this I relished the new belt was to short. Problem fixed
I'm so glad I came upon your video. My daughter is having that problem with her washer. She was talking about how now she has to save to get another. I'll surprise her by fixing it like you showed. Thanks a million. You're a great teacher.
@@helpinguonline hi there. After I adjusted the pump motor to achieve the 1/4 inch gap when pinching the belt, I tightened everything back up. Tried a dry spin cycle and everything looks and sounds good. I then proceeded to turn the water lines back on and both had pressure and now have a drip/leak that was previously not there. Any suggestions?
There is a filter screen at the connection on the back of the washer...make sure it is clear, check the rubber gaskets in the hoses and make sure your connections are tight
Nah, you didn't lack a thing. There was just something you hadn't learned YET! Sounds the same, but it ain't. Major, Major difference. Maybe even Colonel, Colonel difference.
Omg thank you soooo much!!! I was getting ready to buy another washer !! 😫😫😫😫😫 I bought my washer and dryer from my neighbor who was a veteran. He told me he bought them from Sears back in the 1990s !!! So yeah I wanna hold on to them as long as I can !!!
Thank you so much for the video I have a 1990 whirlpool and I’m single mom of 3 and college student and simply can’t afford to get a new washer right now or pay someone to fix it this helped Me out so much
I have the same washer with the same issue. I’m going to follow your excellent instructions. This is the first issue I’ve ever had with my washer. I’m so glad I found your video.
Thank you Sir. I wanted to say that your method of explaining everything was easy to understand partly because you were good about giving excellent visual representation as you explained everything you were talking about and your demonstration of the repair was easy to follow. Note: I don’t have much patience and was in a hurry so I had the playback speed turned up all the way on 2 over the entire duration of the video. So I guess you were slow enough for the people who need things explained slowly and got the more high strung impatient and comprehensive person like myself,Thank God the playback speed adjustment is just a click away. Thank you again Sir for sharing your knowledge and helping the American family Man like myself fix my malfunctioning appliances. God Bless you RUclips endeavors!
I'm a single 63 year old lady. If I can do what you did in this video I'll be sooo happy. So far, I have determined that it's not spinning. Now comes the fun part... I'll keep you posted 🙂 UPDATE: It was too heavy for me to pull it away from the wall, so I started taking the clothes out. A long sleeve from a shirt had gotten wrapped around the middle thing so tightly that I could barely get it out. So I got all the clothes out and turned it on spin and it worked! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's fixed. Thank you for the video.
I'm 62 and I have no faith in myself but I'm going to try but I think I'll work on the refrigerator first way easier, my problem is I've got my 88 year old father watching me and if I mess it up I hear from him I wish you would of left it alone.
Wow, a vintage Maytag belt drive! I love these machines, and it’s good to know they r so clean and your keeping them up and running! Keep it up, they’ll last you way longer then any junk sold today.
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who doesn't want to get rid of their older washer, lol, mine is about 25+ years and due to an unbalanced load it's now not spinning, it does fill and drain so I'm determined determined to find a solution, fun fact, my husband immediately said, go buy a new one, I'm the one who said no, lol! I've had the modern fancy shmancy versions and nope, I'm sticking to the older one, I removed this one from my old home and brought it to my new house years ago.
I wish my GE washer was listed. I'm going to guess that it will be similar. My washer will spin with very light loads, but only very light loads. This video was VERY helpful. Thank you.
Thank you very much for taking time to write to me and explaining different things that may cause the problem with my washing machine. I really appreciate it. Thanks again for your help and time.

@@helpinguonline are you a professional? Or is it really this easy? I’d like to do it myself but wanted to know if you average “joe” can copy what you are doing?
Thank you for the video, I have Kenmore elite washer and it has started doing same issues, I will check belts out, do you have any recommendations before I do this ?
Be sure to unplug your machine before you begin. Also, you may find a video online that is specific to the model you have that may give you more detailed instructions.
Hello there, thanks for your great video, I have a portable washing machine and it is not spinning, I changed the belt, but still is not spinning, what else should I do? I havea Danby 0.9 portable washing machine. Thanks
The cause of that could be a number of things. Could be your motor… Could be a capacitor that starts the motor… Could be your timer… Etc. sorry I can’t be more specific. Wishing you the best and God‘s blessing and wisdom as you work on it
Yeah I did what you said but my maytag washer just slips for rinsing and when I manually pull on the motor to tense up the belt the motor stalls. Could it be that it's seized or the motor has lost its power?
My washer is only 3 years old, it won't spin at full speed. Clothes are still coming out wet and when i put it on drain and spin it spins for a few mins and starts filling up and starts to wash. Do you think it's the belts? We had a repair guy come out that was no help, he first said it was fine. We called him out again and he said it was the transmission kit and it would cost $800 to fix. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you in advance
My belt doesn't pass the 1/4 inch squeeze test but it also isn't so tight the motor can't move at all like the one you had, still some give. Do you think this belt can still be used?
I’m hoping this is the issue with my machine. I just noticed last night that it was making a humming noise and not spinning with a faint burning smell. But can’t get the shell of the machine off so I’ve been struggling lol.
Hello! We have the same maytag washer. Mine decided to stop spinning. I replaced the belt it still wont spin but drains water. It also make a noise like 2 metal clanking. Any advice? I appreciate it. Thank u
Hello Kind Sir, My 2005’ manual Maytag top loader/ not the one with led lights, does that same thing But while watching it go into the spin cycle for the last year I have noticed that when it starts to spin it Right before it gets to full speed you can hear the brakes engage and it slows it down and at that time it starts to agitate while it’s trying to get up to speed but the brakes are still keeping it slow spin, and I have noticed that if I stick my hard in there against the drum and let the clothes catch my fingers and knock it off balance where it is wobbly then and only then it will start to go real fast and then right before it hits Top Speed I hear the brakes engage and slow it back down again and then it starts agitating again you know to try to even out the clothes it does and then it starts to go fast again about up to 1/2 speed then the brakes engage and slow it down again and if I get the clothes so off balance that I have to keep my hard on the timer knob to stop it encase it wobbles outta control and then finally after the whole cycle THATS WHEN THE BRAKES WONT Work they won’t engage to slow it down and stop it and I have noticed also that the knuckles are pretty worn out in the agitator also but it is still working about 80% right I sure hope you know exactly what’s going on and can let me know what I need to fix and replace because it is the kind of washer that you can easily keep repaired when something goes bad if you can find out what the issues are last year when this started I made a video and posted it on my RUclips channel if Will please go to my page and click on my uploads it is the last video I uploaded so you will easily find it, Please. And keep in mind that was about a month after I started to notice that the clothes were coming out heavy like in your video but I have done 2-3 loads a day for a year now and it is a lot worse now But when I run the extended spin cycle again and I stand over it to try to keep the clothes outta Balance it will finally get them spun out but it is taking up so much of my time I am getting behind on all the other things I need to do on a daily basis, So I Sure hope that you will know what is wrong so I can fix it and again it doesn’t have the electronics and the led-lights. Thank You Sincerely For Your Time And if you can figure it out for me so I can fix it I will send you a generous donation president Grant Bill for your help thru PayPal or Applepay ✅ and I Am experienced back in the 80’s I worked at the appliance Repair Shop here in my town and I have always fixed any issues with washer and dryer electric and refrigerator’s to for me and my family members too But For Some reason I can’t find out what the issue is with my 2005’ Maytag Heavy Duty Extra Large manual Washer Hope to hear from you soon ✌️🏡🙏.
I did replace the belt the old one was original, However the Washer Still Working the Same and No one can tell me for sure what I need to replace to fix-it. Please Help
Ohboy, im afraid of what ill find in there lmao. My furnace quit working last winter and when i took the door off the blower compartment, there was a weasle skeleton. My a/c stank the previous summer but I didnt find anything in my A/c unit, so just suffered through it. My washer is maybe 10 steps from my furnace, in a dirt floor style basement. Wish me luck lol
Thank you, this was my issue. One quam with your process that I have earned the right to speak about. Put it back together and push it in AFTER you test it. You are begging Murphy to lay his law down on you.
I have one like this and I replaced the belts. Now, when it goes to spin, it spins about 3 times and then makes a clicking noise to click off. Ordered a new motor, put it on, still does the same thing - shuts of motor when it goes to spin.
How do u know when it's going bad...Sometimes lately it will spin and sometimes it's will spins all the water out...I also have been noticing that the timer changes on how long...
@@helpinguonline just fixed it! Took the cover off the back panel for the controls and there’s a little pressure hose back there someone said can get clogged and tell the washer it hasn’t drained yet. Just blew into it and heard some gunk come out now it spins. Thank you tho. 😁
How much movement should there be in the motor? I bought new belts but had trouble finding the exact part number (2111250 and 2111240). I could only find 211125 and 211124. They seem to work but there isn't much movement in the motor but there is slightly some.
In this case, with a belt driven motor and pump, the washing machine would or could advance through all the cycles, especially if you have a slipping belt found on older machines like this one.
Anyone know where model number is located on a upright whirlpool approx 10 to 12 years old...? I CAN STILL wash small loads with no issues, but larger loads it does not spin fast enough to dry chothes well..i am thinking my machine does not have belts so maybe clutch and or coupler is slipping...thanks for your help...
I think you should specify in your title that you have a Maytag washing machine. My Roper by Whirlpool has no silly belts and is direct drive. It does have a clutch and a coupler that both can be a cause for not spinning strongly. My machine is older than you !
Well..i think i can..i think i can..i think i will.😁🏆👏👏👏u do make it look easy. But i cant tilt the washer at my age. So i better pay some1 to do it glad i know whats wrong.
Check for blockage in your drain system... including drain pump Also you could have a problem with the lid switch... check this video: ruclips.net/video/gzq5FODUuqE/видео.html Could be an electrical problem... bad timer
Bet you got that belt set from Ebay - there are lots of resellers that buy the lowest cost components from China and re-package them. Many are counterfeit. You state the vendor KNEW there was an issue with the belts, but sold them to you anyway!
Actually did get the belts you mentioned from Ebay. The pump belt was correct. The seller didn't intentionally sell me the wrong belt... when I called back to ask about it they said they had become aware that there was a problem and were not selling that belt set anymore until the problem was corrected. They told me to keep the belts and refunded my money.
My spin cycle works my wash cycle don’t work it just makes a clicking noise and I open it and hold it with my finger to see if it’s washing and it’s just clicking and not moving
Hi there, when you say GLAZED. What do you mean? I have a Haier mini washer, it won't spin. The belt on mine looks ok? should I change it anyway? thanks
If the belt looks okay I wouldn't change it...and if your problem was the belt glazing it would slip and probably not stop your washer from spinning completely. A glazed belt is one that has been slipping and gets a shiny glaze on it that causes it to lose its grip...like a squeaking power steering belt on a car
You may want to check this common problem... ruclips.net/video/gzq5FODUuqE/видео.html If not the lid switch you may want to continue your search online otherwise you could call a local appliance repair company... but often times their visit costs more than your washer may be worth.
my clothes are coming clean lately w not spinning right always off and my dad was a ge repair man but he passed away last month and my dryer just turned off stopped working a just got it last year
Lots of different possibilities and lots of videos to help you resolve your washer problem. May be something real simple ie lid switch or could be more involved. Here is a video that may help depending on your issue. ruclips.net/video/gzq5FODUuqE/видео.html Let us know what you find out and how you fixed it.

How do u know when it's going bad...Sometimes lately it will spin and sometimes it's will spins all the water out...I also have been noticing that the timer changes on how long...
I have an older Kenmore top loader, that has a slow spin cycle leaving clothes too wet. Do u think this is the fix to my problem?
It may if your belts are worn or improperly adjusted
Great video. I’m going to see how I do. Ty!
Depending on the washer you have your problem could also be this...

yeah! got to do this on my washer
Great instructional video, thanks
Hi! My washing machine spins just fine during the wash cycle but will not do the final spin at all. Do you think it would be the same issue?
I don’t think so… I would test your timer and see if that’s the problem
@@helpinguonline just fixed it! Took the cover off the back panel for the controls and there’s a little pressure hose back there someone said can get clogged and tell the washer it hasn’t drained yet. Just blew into it and heard some gunk come out now it spins. Thank you tho. 😁
Way to go!
Thanks so much man just what I needed to know
Glad I could help
Thank you so so much you actually helped our issue
Glad to hear it
How much movement should there be in the motor? I bought new belts but had trouble finding the exact part number (2111250 and 2111240). I could only find 211125 and 211124. They seem to work but there isn't much movement in the motor but there is slightly some.
Where’s the information on the kenMore top
Loading high efficiency washers
would this cause the washing machine to not advance past the wash cycle? clothes are soaking wet and tub is drained, lids unlocks as if its done.
Great video. Very informative.
Glad it was helpful!
I think you should specify in your title that you have a Maytag washing machine. My Roper by Whirlpool has no silly belts and is direct drive. It does have a clutch and a coupler that both can be a cause for not spinning strongly. My machine is older than you !
You make it look so easy lol
Well..i think i can..i think i can..i think i will.😁🏆👏👏👏u do make it look easy. But i cant tilt the washer at my age. So i better pay some1 to do it glad i know whats wrong.
This video applies to older Maytag washers only
My washer dial will not even enter the spin cycle.
Could that be an electrical problem ?
Check for blockage in your drain system... including drain pump
Also you could have a problem with the lid switch... check this video:

Could be an electrical problem... bad timer
Check your timer
What kind of shoes are you wearing?
Cool ! Greetings from Quebec !
Hi there, when you say GLAZED.
What do you mean? I have a Haier
mini washer, it won't spin.
@@helpinguonline Thanks for yr response. What else could it be?? Should I just scrap it?
Thanks for your help..❤
You may want to check this common problem... ruclips.net/video/gzq5FODUuqE/видео.html
If not the lid switch you may want to continue your search online otherwise you could call a local appliance repair company... but often times their visit costs more than your washer may be worth.
Nice job
Thanks!... Glad to have it back up and running
Y after changing the waterpump my maytag Atlantis still is leaking water from the back
my clothes are coming clean lately w not spinning right always off and my dad was a ge repair man but he passed away last month and my dryer just turned off stopped working a just got it last year
My w.machine doesn't work with belt Sir & not spinning
Can you help please
Lots of different possibilities and lots of videos to help you resolve your washer problem. May be something real simple ie lid switch or could be more involved.
Here is a video that may help depending on your issue.

Let us know what you find out and how you fixed it.
What if machine is creating L3?
Thanks!
I changed the belt and it's still leaving my clothes wet. Should the agitator move so freely?
Awesome! Thank you!
