    I was the store manager of a few different stores NEVER that high end, but I’ve made customers cry too. I’ve gotten screamed at, threatened, called names, & I’m just trying to remain calm & do my dang job. I HATE THAT PEOPLE MAKE A SCENE AND THEN GET THEIR WAY!!!! Why? That will never make sense to me ‘customers always right’ NO THEY’RE NOT, and you’re (not YOU companies in general) are just letting people know it’s totally okay to do that. 🤯

      Big facts! I worked on commission in ladies shoes for a major department store. This use to piss me off that if customers got upset over a return the store would take it back regardless. That return would go against the salesperson. So here you are having to make up for a loss that was never suppose to be a legit return according to policy. These situations didn't happen often, but when they did it extremely frustrating and unfair.

    • @AmyChaos
      @AmyChaos 3 года назад +2

      @@mhunt298 EXACTLY WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT!! We had a similar problem with the sales people trying to steal sales or ring things up under their own numbers KNOWING THEY DIDN’T SELL IT, but if it was a return that they’d sold... they’d return it to ANYONE but them. So the other persons sales & kpi’s would drop and unless you start paying really close attention it’s not noticeable. I got tired of it, so I started paying ANNOYINGLY close attention 🤣. It’s just so unfair when I’ve got employees on my floor busting their asses and someone twiddling their thumbs at the register for them to get all the perks of being a top seller. Man I could go on forever about retail problems 😒

    • @mhunt298
      @mhunt298 3 года назад +1

      That was a major issue in my department especially, that time of the year when sales were down. This was a hot button topic of discussion, but nothing ever got done about it. So you had to make a decision to fight fire with fire and may the the best man win. Sad, but very true commission sales is dog eat dog! This is true no matter the industry and the retail world honestly prepared me well.

    • @Commentator541

      That is because most sales are based on one’s perception and not facts. The fact is that bag is worth no more than 200 USD. So the customer is paying in order to feel good about herself, not for the actual item. Hence why the manager accepted the return. If she would not, other customers would potentially feel bad about their purchases and then it spirals out of control.

    I worked seasonal--summer and winter breaks--during undergrad. High end store in a fancy part of one of the 3 major cities of the USA. No commission. Only cosmetics and shoes got commission. Never once made a customer cry. But I generally just accepted returns, exchanges, adjustments. If it was beyond my pay scale, I sent it up to the department or the floor manager. This was the early 90's. We pretty much had a policy of accepting all returns. We were in a beach zone, so part of our training was 'even if the customer looks like a homeless person, they might be a rich German tourist or a multi-millionaire on a crack binge.' And I took that to heart.

    OMG! You totally reminded me of the time when I worked at TOD’S and already when someone outside of the top 1% walks into a boutique on Rodeo Drive, we are all faced with consumer angst and judgment about us sales professionals. I have so many stories I could share. I can recall a man one afternoon walking down the stairs asking for assistance in a very less than charming manner; basically screaming from the staircase to across the first floor and as the sales associate closest to the staircase, I replied, “I’m sorry we’re all with clients at the moment but one of us will assist you as soon as we’re free.” He replied, “Well, I could be a client!” In my mind, I was like um, not with that attitude you’re not. I just couldn’t be bothered with his entitlement. And another time a woman walked in around noon and asked to see the “Kate” bag and I showed her the bag and then she said that she’d think about it. Okay, no big deal that’s fine like whatever. No problem. Then, she comes back around 5:45 pm (15 minutes prior to closing) and asks to see the bag again so I pulled it from display and showed her and then the little tart said to me, “You didn’t think I was gonna come back, did you?” I replied, “honestly ma’am, I don’t think anything anymore.” lol 😂 And then she huffed and left the store without buying it which was totally okay by me because honestly, her buying a $1,400 handbag wasn’t going to make me homeless or starve to death like seriously some of these weirdos treat us like we are all those snobby sales people that appeared on the film, “Pretty Woman.” Lol 😂

    Years ago, I worked at a bookstore. On the end cap were the study guides to the book it was clearly marked as the study guide. The study guide was about $9.00. The book was $35.00.
    The customer told me that I needed to sell her the book at $9.00, because it was on the end cap. I told her that someone must have inadvertently placed it there and the sign clearly says that it’s the study guide for $9.00.
    She looked at me and asked, “What if I can’t read?”
    I told her, “Well, then, this wouldn’t be the book for you, anyway.”
    The manager ended up giving her the book at the study guide price.
    She gave me a snarky look. I told her what she did was equivalent to stealing as she walked out the door.

I had to wait cause it was out of stock. But I’m happy with my purchase and I don’t regret it. My mom thinks it’s a lot but she said the bag is a piece of art. ❤️

    Once when I was working at a portrait studio a lady came in to make an appointment. It was right at closing and I had been working doubles because of the upcoming holidays so my brain was not all there. I asked her if she would like to schedule an appointment and she said "yes but only if I can make her look young and beautiful". Idk what on earth possessed me to say this but I was like " of course, you're 1/2 way there." I meant it as a compliment but it came out all wrong. So I see her face drop and I'm like "oh, no, I mean, we'll do our best" 🤦🤦🤦 She didn't full on cry but she looked like she might. I felt horrible! To this day I still think about that woman. I made sure I gave her extra time and paid part of her photos secretly and said it was a discount because I felt so bad. The only upside of that event is that I am really careful about what I say now

      I have a decent sized LV collection (about 20 bags plus luggage pieces and SLGs) and most CAs make me feel that way. I’m always dressed nicely and have hair and makeup done so I’m not sure why that is. The only exceptions have been the boutiques in Boca Raton and in Macy’s Herald Square.

    Hi, I am a male viewer from Paris, France. Just found your channel and have watched some of your videos. OMG, the tone you often use is just hilarious, with that pinch of cynicism (ah, human nature...). It actually reminds many of my friends or relatives who work in luxury retails. Yes, I've heard many similar stories you were reporting in your videos. Many imagine working for a high end boutique as being a fairytale but it can’t be further from the truth. Louis Vuitton being nowadays very mainstream due to their "affordable" canvas bags, unfortunately attracts all types of clienteles. It has become common to deal with some very difficult patrons. The last time I went there I was shocked to see how the customers have changed: it doesn't feel luxurious at all anymore (it more feels like being in a Foot Locker) and even, the SAs hence have had to adapt their language (10 years ago, they used to do their best to speak an elegant French. Now, it is all about some very vulgar slangs) with the French local male customers coz many of them are usually average drug dealers from Paris suburbs who go there to laundry their cash.
    Except for sunglasses (I am an Asian dude with a typical huge head)), I had stopped shopping at LV since....2010, I think. I was mostly a fan of Marc Jacobs's era .
    My neighbor is working at the flagship store in Georges V as an assistant manager and some days, I can tell that she is very fed up with most of the customers' bad manners.
    My cousin's wife has been working in the headquarters office located in the Pont Neuf for so long. It is apparently the kind of dream company to work for in France: salary is not bad, powerful trade unions, many many advantages such as huge discounts on plane tickets or hotels... It is true that the staff can also have some amazing deals during their staff sales, or holidays staff sales. And those deals are not only limited to Louis Vuitton but to all the brands within the LVMH group. She got me a watch a long time ago priced 7500€ in boutique for only 1800€. The RTW pieces she managed to get me at the time were amazingly cheap (something like 80 or 90% off).
    I also have some friends working at Chanel or Hermès and their experiences are slightly different from yours coz their clientele is more homogeneous in terms of upbringings and financial means and hence, easier to deal with. Those who work for Hermès did contradict you and confessed me once that they could not believe how, some average girls like them, could have such power over so many wealthy people for the sake of a frickin handbag!
