Thank you for this video! I decided after my mechanic took 8 hours with my car my last oil change and an entire day of mine wasted- it was time to DIY it! Thank you for explaining all of the steps so well!
Thanks for doing this. I do concierge car service, so not spilling oil on the owner driveway is a good thing. Without this guidance, I would have had a big mess, plus not the right tools. Someone had removed the fender liner already, so didn’t need the body tools. I did decide to bring my 17” long automatic transmission funnel, it was perfect to fill with no spill. It took all 6 quarts, I did fill the filter before install. I did use a plastic bag on the filter, usually filters mounted like this, no oil leaks out when removed, but this engine is a gusher, I never would have expected that until too late. Good work!
Grab a cheap plastic tarp from Harbor Freight and place under the Pilot to use every oil change. Also, get a large plastic bag or plastic cup to slide over the oil filter when removing it for zero spill/mess. Wipe the area where filter goes with a rag and install new filter. Easy peasy
Great video and tips. I did get a oil filter wrench because it’s hard to take it off. I also prefer the Honda oil filter or Mobil 1 filter. You have to use full synthetic oil on the pilot that’s recommended. I actually change mine when the maintenance minder goes down to about 5-10%. Roughly around 7k miles for me.
Great tip. I’m going to try my self next time instead of waiting an hour + at the dealer. I already ordered the Honda filter, do you recommend an oil brand ?
Excellent video, my only recommendation would be to use the OEM Honda oil filter. Maybe the mobile one is good as well. For the oil I used Kirkland brand. Regardless, straightforward and to the point. Thank you very much.
A Fram filter?? Ugh.. I hate those. Get a better filter please.. something like a Mobil1 or Wix XP, much better construction/internal components. Don’t skimp on parts, they do make a difference.
Totally agree! I used to use Fram for over 10 years until I say a video on how cheaply they are made compared to most. All the internal parts are made of paper, where most Mfrs use some metal parts. I quite using Fram after that
Did u have to replace the washer? Or used the same one I usually re use the same on my cars but I’m going to do a pilot n ppl say to replace the washer on these models
Una pregunta, en mi 2016 pilot front passenger side mi parking luz no enciende. Se puede cambiar el foquito o es de cambiar toda la headlight assembly?
Hi, thanks for this video. Mechanic at Honda must have removed cover on my 2017 Pilot. The plastic cover you removed 3.22 mins./sec. I want to replace. I can’t find the part # anywhere; forums hond parts online etc… Any idea what the part # is ? Thank You
You almost got everything done right my brother... However, here's a Mechanic's advice, Never, Never, Ever use Fram engine oil Filter. They are P.O.S. Worst Engine Oil Filters ever.

That oil filter placement!! I swear car manufactures just don't even car about mechanics. Nice trick with the water bottles!
yeah 👍 Cool thanks

@@acemechanic6736 I use Mobil1 or Honda 0W-20 all the time.
@@josee.1278what is the Mobil 1 filter number for Honda pilot?
Loved the video
I would recommend an oem Honda filter or a wix or purolator. Also, full synthetic oil will-cost $7 more only so why not!! Thank you for the video
pretty nice and very nicely explained step by step.... thank you...
You’re welcome 👍
I gotta say I love my BMWs when it comes to oil changes. They have it up top.
Cool, yeah that’s better and easier. Thanks 👍
FYI. The beauty cover on top of the engine pops off. Makes it a lot easier to add oil.
Get yourself a 4-201 filter wrench by Big Bike Parts. And you don’t need to remove any plastic. Get it from underneath, no problem.

Thank you 👍 yes I will get different brand next time

Can you help me with a mod for my car corolla 2012 S
Check out the corolla playlist there are a lot mods there 👍
Get some car ramps they work better
What if I don’t change the oil filter
Cos it’s hard at times
You have to change the oil filter every time because it can get plugged up and mess up your engine. Get an oil filter tool 👍
The Honda maintenance minder "A" is just the oil. The "B" is oil and filter (plus, inspect brakes, etc). Still, I change the filter every time.
You almost got everything done right my brother... However, here's a Mechanic's advice, Never, Never, Ever use Fram engine oil Filter. They are P.O.S. Worst Engine Oil Filters ever.
Paw print
a plastic bag will work under the filter.
Yeah that’s a good idea 👍
Just used 1 gallon zip-lock style bag. Loosen the filter, slide the bag up filter past seal, continue loosening until it come off. Zero drips
Did it with ziplock bag. No mess.
👍👍👍👍👍👏
Too tawsen sebenteen, pull sentatik
