I've never seen a more aggressive piece of cheese
This agressive piece of cheese took life of founder of Mclaren( bruce meclarin)
XD
@@kartikbajaj5497 what a wey to go
me neither 😂😂
Wedge of cheese.
8.8ltr in 2016 and 900hp I helped prep it, for this run. Brilliantly engineered car, and during testing one day at Donington, it was lapping faster than some of the old F1's on track.
Bueno si eran mas rapidos, pero convengamos que la Can Am tenía un reglameto casi libre!!
Can-Am is such a weird and magical thing. I wish I had been around to see it.
I don’t think it’s something that can ever be reproduced.
I was there witnessing the Can-Am firsthand in the 1960s into the early '70s. Aside from the 1966 season that saw four different winners in six races; those other years from 1967 to the early '70s it was pretty much a parade of the McLaren team cars dominating; save for a fluke win or two, by another team, spread out over many seasons. The vehicle parade could pretty much sum it up for the rest of the field, too, as the cars would get strung apart from each other for the 200 miles/322 km distance of those races.
The exotic cars with the roar of the large displacement engines was stimulating to witness and hear; but rarely was there wheel-to-wheel racing to be seen. I've seen more battling for track position from the 21st Century vintage races held in Europe, that are shown here on RUclips, than what I ever saw in all my years with the original Can-Am series.
@@bloqk16 I highly doubt anyone really cares about wheel to wheel racing in can am. The point of can am, as a massive fan of these cars, seems to be appreciating the insanity and engineering of the cars, rather than the racing. Plus the fact that it was the only unlimited series in recent history makes it extremely unique. I really dont care about wheel to wheel racing in can am, but im absolutely facinated at the stressed engine mclarens and 1200hp porsche turbos, massive aero and advanced suspension. Compared to the f1 cars of the day, these were literal spaceships. I know a lot of people who really wish they would be able to see these cars race in period full tilt. Just hearing them would be amazing.
There's a video of a mclaren m8f on road atlanta passing a lmp2 car on the straight, and its badass.
My dad used to take my brother and I to Can-Am races. This was by far my favorite.
Props to Andy, the driver, for his performance with such a wild beast of machinery. One might think Peter Revson came back to life.
That sound, and that special vertical fin along the body from the front
US V8 power, love it.
❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸
Big us v8 power
Oh yes, the greatest nation on earth!

Another awesome part of Bruce's legacy. Can Am beauty is the beast.
Love the sound of that one! That's a roar and a half
These cars duking it out with Porsche 908s, Lolas, Chapparals, Corvettes, Mustangs, Alfas and Datsuns cornering on 3 wheels. Unlimited engines, NA or boosted. We were fearless in those days...
Glorious indeed. Brutal. Wish the commentators voice was in background, that V8 sounds far better....
My favourite Can-Am thank you Bruce ❤️
Sound made my day 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😁
I was there for this. The noise of that M8 coming round the corner and going past was absolutely amazing, one of the best engine noises I've heard.
That sounds absolutely awesome
Kiwi quality never stops coming
Can-Am was some series! That thing is just a monster!
What a machine! You can actrually hear that the engine is huge!
Insane time. Wonderful piece of kit
Music to my ears.
Better without the commentary. That sound 🤪😉😘
NewRailBasher couldn’t disagree more.
@@Jabber-ig3iw want to hear the V8 roar....
There's nothing like it before or since.
mans commontating went F1 mode towards the end, unbearable.
7 litre,,, and some. Even then they were up around 500ci. England is too small for it,, it moves the county every time it gets on the throttle!
It's actually 8.8 liters, they got it wrong
I see these things run at the Monterey Historics. The sound here doesn't do the experience justice.
Big block McLaren is a dream
Big block Chevy in a McLaren. Still a dream👍
They had one of these at the Aus GP but it sounds so much more ferocious when its actually driven hard! The engine braking sounds frightening.
What a beast!
The only true unlimited racing series ever. 4 wheels, 2 wink, wink seats, and an engine. The can am flying club was for guys that had blow overs (flips) . The last one was in 2021. At road america, Jim Pace, r.i.p. epic!!!!
F’in yes!!👍👍👍😎😎😎🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
CanAm cars at Mosport we’re an absolute highlight of my childhood.
What a beast.
Nothing beats cubic inches ( except rectangular dollars). Good old American muscle.
Except more cubic inches...
Cubic dollars
The best bit is having two people talk over it
Nothing like a Can Am car😊
I love the seventies Can Am beasts
It's a shame that oil crisis killed off Can-Am. That engine just sounds great, and boy it's fast! 😱😍
What if Can-Am was resurrected?
The Porsche 917 had a lot to do with Can-Am dying out.
beast
Sounds like Satan clearing his throat
There is nothing like getting good wood. I'm just sayin'.
The Boomerang Rapido!
60tys to70tys before my time. Please bring it back never seen so much power.
Let that beast loose at Silverstone. 👍
My god the noise is godly
This car is terrifying!
Where wheelspin?
Everywhere!
Moe..Larry..the cheese!! Madness...!!
IT'S AN EIGHT LITER!
Tesoureiro hás Garden ?
All aluminum, 496 big block Chevy. (8.1 liter) BAD MELON FARMER!!!
Oh look it's Can AAAAGGGHm
I find it funny that McLaren has to use a Chevy big block engine in their race cars when all the McLaren fan boys berate the Corvette and American muscle.
LOL...or a prettier piece of cheese. what a gorgeous piece of gear
They also came in 512 cu.in.
What kind of BHP did this monster put out back in its day?
I think in the neighborhood of 900 HP. Then the Porsche 917/30 came along with 1300+ HP in qualifying tune.
If it’s a Mclaren Chevy, does that mean LS swamping your Mclaren cannon? You’d save a ton on maintenance.
it definitely make it sound better cause every mclaren after 650s sounds like a high revving vacuum
That’s ferocious power. What’s the bhp/kg ratio? 1:1?
To give you an idea, the shop I worked at restored a '74 Shadow DN4. 1073hp, 1780lbs wet (no driver).
What a driver and machine!! Beast
Why do you need so many Marshalls holding the cars at the start?
It is to stop the car from rolling backward or breaking the timing beam before the run.
Goodwood Road & Racing that is what a “spoon” is for. You place it behind the wheel.
Neutered; This like trying to drive fast on a bike path or driveway to an estate. Oh wait it is. Just imagine this car on a more open flowing track like Spa or my favorite Mugello. Chevrolet Bald Eagles 🦅 would be flying out the back.
Would have been nice to hear the engine...
What’s next? 😂😂
Wow!! Must be a 396 from an SS. Big blocks rule!!
Title says it's a 7 liter, so 427 although i believe this M8F actualy has an 8 litre engine.
I think by this time these ones and the Lola T222 had all aluminium big-blocks.
@@Gearz70 488 cc
@@garnicholson74 Although I could be mistaken, I think all the Can-Am big-blocks were aluminum. I read an interesting article just yesterday about the history of Can-Am engines. The iron big-blocks were too heavy for Can-Am. Chevy developed an aluminum version in 1967 for racing that was in the Chaparral 2G. Later, other teams acquired engines of their own.
@@jamesaron1967 That makes sense, the early Lola T70, McLaren M1 etc. were production based small block, usually Chevy built by Traco or Al Bartz up to about 400ci (occaisionally Ford if a customer preferred), over that I think some people used the larger capacity iron big-blocks but as you say these were just too heavy for the power gain achieved. Always wondered where these mythical all-ally BB V8s came from.
The car looks like an oversized GoKart. Or he's wearing a really big helmet.
0:46 thare were beautiful girls.
I agree
be quiet, i can't hear the engine!
Looks like a go kart on steroids
More like 8.4 litres
European Hemi lol
I dont think the m8f was 7 liters
488 cubic inches. All aluminum.
CAN THE ANNOUNCERS SHUT UP??!!!!! I AM AN AMERICAN LISTENING TO A BIG BLOCK CHEVY!!!!!
Yep they just filed for chapter 13 bankruptcy.....
Not gonna lie, the only thing wrong with this event is the annoying commentary, Just shut up and let me hear the cars bro.
「ZED」 you need a better AV setup if you can’t hear the engine. This is motorsport, it comes with commentary, get over it.
「ZED」 go visit a drag race
stand @ the 🎄right between 2 top fuel’ers @ take off
you will hear the cars
wont hear commentators tho
Anyone else sick of the omnipresent, smug inflHUELencer ?
