  • The RC F is the sports coupe answer Lexus has for Audi, BMW, & Mercedes AMG. Under the hood is a 5.0L naturally aspirated V8 that is now producing 472HP & mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission. The exterior brings aggressive styling 19in wheels, carbon fiber roof, rear diffuser and active spoiler. On the inside Lexus brings an interior materials and seating with the RC F. Is it NOW or NEVER to buy a 2021 Lexus RC F with V8 power?

I love my RCF because it keeps me in shape , any time I start to get fat i can immediately tell on the bolstering . All the car needs after you buy one is a decent after market mid pipe and exhaust or at the very least a muffler delete and it sounds amazing !
If you put the car on track mode and sport + and turn the traction control off it will say expert mode which allows burnouts and is way more fun .

LC 500 has the same exact engine mated to a 10 speed Auto but the 0-60 is better on the RCF even though it’s only a 10th faster so the LC 10 speed is basically worthless and the car is more about looks . The RCF only needs a muffler delete to sound better than a LC 500 also . If going all out is the case why not buy a fully loaded C8 corvette .

Love my 2020 RCF. This is a very comfortable car to drive honestly. I wanted an 8 cylinder car before they are dead. I never had any intent on buying or owning a BMW... I want something I can keep for 10 years without costing me a fortune to upkeep... Hence Lexus. This is a fun car. Everyone always compares it to others which honestly I never did. I bought it because it looks nice, sounds nice (even better with an exhaust), and just overal quality and experience. There are NOT a lot of these on the road. 293 RCF's were sold in the USA in 2020... probably even less now in 2021... M3/4..etc. dime a dozen. You see them everywhere. This, you won't :-)
I totally agree they CAN be expensive AF.. too much in all reality. Mine had an MSRP of $81k with every option minus the carbon fiber package (which I didn't want because I wanted a moonroof) and the TVD (which isn't needed for the street), and ended up getting it out the door for $68k because I bought it at the end of 2020.

Fantastic review as always! I love the RC F and will definitely buy one as my next car in the next year or two. A few points I want to bring up:
First, I gotta love that my last comment was on the Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400 and that for the money I’d rather get an RC F. And then this gets uploaded!
Second, about how this isn’t the “same as an M4, AMG C63, RS5, et al.” BMW, MB, and Audi all made cars for GT3. The RC F is a GT3 car made for Lexus. The others may have better spec sheets, but they lack the comfort, reliability, and “soul” that comes with this. A NA V8 will put a much bigger smile on your face vs a turbocharged engine. You should lease the German (and Infiniti) offerings, because after year 3 they fall apart. With this you can drive it for a decade without any maintenance behind what’s scheduled. And keep the original water pump.
And lastly, the end of V8s. Toyota is notoriously slow when it comes to change. It’s the reason this and the IS haven’t seen much of an interior change since 2015, and why Lexus is only now admitting defeat with the touchpad. (back touchscreens in 2022! Thank heavens!) In the same vein, they aren’t going to abandon the V8 for a few years, especially with the announcement of the IS 500. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if this and the Mustang were the last NA V8 holdouts in 2025.
If I were a betting man, I’d wager the RC and IS lines get an interior refresh in the next year or two, alongside a slightly more powerful NA V8 engine. 3 years after that, Lexus will likely be forced to send their V8 to pasture.

hey joe quick question, does this have a rack and pinion steering system or is it electronically controlled similar to infinitis steer by wire? i really dislike the no feedback and want to make sure i can feel that front end on tight corners.

Lexus are amazing. Especially throughout the years they have been upping their engines and interior. If I had 800 grand I’ll buy a LFA Lexus with the v10 engine. Dude, I think Honda, Lexus, Acura, Toyota if they did a v8, inline or a v12 or v10, engines they always do it right

After getting used to the Lexus track pad I find it preferable to a touch screen. For me it seems more stable to use when driving going over bumps than trying to use the touchscreen is. Also the location of the screen on this car allows you to keep your vision more centered toward the windshield than the placement of a traditional infotainment screen lower on the dash. Maybe I'm just biased however.

I think the best RC F to buy is an early one, like a 2015-2016, which have gotten quite cheap. If you're looking at a new one, you're still considering performance - otherwise you'd buy an LC500 instead. In that case, a 5 year old RC F isn't likely to give you big problems anyhow considering it's a Lexus with a 2UR. With the rest of that money, you can throw it into modifications and seat time. Japan has proved that the RC F is surprisingly quick around the track with some handling mods and minor weight reduction.

Two years ago I labored over a used RCF and a new Genesis G70 in the same price range. I chose the G70. Biggest mistake. G70 is a very good car, but it lacks the sex appeal and wonderful V8 sound of the Lexus. This video reminds me of that horrible decision. There will be an RCF in my future
