    I’m glad I came across this vid my switch just recently started overheating, I’ve been playing the new yugioh master duel and I get it’s a pretty heavy game, It has to run so many things at once but I don’t think it should be overwhelming the fan to the point where it shuts down the whole thing. I’ll double check on the condition of the fan and If it’s the fan like I think it is I’ll be back on the here to do the step by step cuz I won’t remember how to do it😅

      Thanks for watching. It was strange, all of the sudden, in the last few weeks... I've been hit with Switch temp problems, where in the past... they were all fine. A few had bad fans... but I think several were just from hard thermal paste.

    My main concern would be accidentally would be cutting through a trace if putting to much pressure cutting the foam strip instead just ripping it. Also depending the if the fan is not truly dead it could be possible to do deep clean on the fan unit. Besides all said and done very good video.

      Absolutely... if you aren't comfortable cutting the tape... it will pull up. As far as cleaning the fan... when a customer is paying for it... it's just cheaper to replace it. But for the end use, it is a valid option. Thanks for watching.

    Do you know the size of the rubber o rings? My original fan just had solid plastic rings on the fan housing, when I installed the new fan it wiggles around and is not completely secure.

    • @PghGameFix
      @PghGameFix  Год назад

      They aren't O-rings... they are rubber mounts. You normally remove them from the old fan, and put them in the new one.

    • @CompassIIDX
      @CompassIIDX 6 месяцев назад

      Problem for me was the replacement fan had solid plastic rings all the way around for the screws (no openings in the rings to insert the rubber mounts). Pretty much impossible to squeeze the rubber mounts in there and even when I managed after cutting one down a bit, there was no room left for the screw to fit through. So I mounted the new fan without them and we'll see how it goes.

    • @PghGameFix

      There is honestly no way to know. I think it has to do with how much you play... and how dusty the environment is that you are using it in. I have a "Day one" switch and there is no overheating issues, and my fan is still running.

      My older switch (I brought in 2018) I sent it to a repair shop for a battery and thermal paste replacement last June (2019)
      I just ordered a replacement fan for the older model so I will also replace the thermal paste since I am replacing the fan

My "Day one" switch isn't showing signs of running hot... but it's mostly used for casual gamming, and I'm not running graphics intense games for hours on end.
