I thought my switch's fan was broken and replaced it, but that didnt help... Almost ordered another one when i realized my joycons were not charging and being recognized anymore by my switch.

@@Kazuhira_ I opened up my switch and found out that it was one of those without a diode. So I simply removed the fan and the joycons started working again with the switch. When the fan is connected, there is a short between the 2 points where the diode could have been. Without the fan, it fixed it. I checked for a short in the fan's PCB, and sure enough, there was one. So for me it was simply a bad fan. There are 2 options if you have this problem, 1) just remove the diode (if u have one), 2) remove the fan. I hope you find this helpful :) feel free to ask questions

I can't seem to get my right joycon to charge. like I turn it off clean it re syce it and sometimes I could get it to charge for a little bit. then it stops soon after. it goes green then black then red. but most of the time it doesn't really respond like it will show it's connected to the system but it won't show it's charging just the red bar on the battery symbol. then I got to unconnected it and reconnected it over and over again and if i get really really lucky. I could get it to hold the charge and stay charging so it's not completely broken but it's pretty bad and I don't know what to do to fix it it's a real pain.

Mine also has the solder on the pads but no diode. But I got my switch brand new. The solder is there but untouched. I think our switches might have come from when they were phasing that diode out of production between when they removed the diode from the production line and when they stopped applying solder to that part. My serial look up puts my console in the grey area between the original version of the console and when they started selling the updated version (original switch, not OLED)
I'm 99% sure that my dock screwed this up. Not even going to bother testing or replacing the fan. This thing is so old and beat up I need to just get a new one anyways. Though i hate handing more money over to Nintendo after all the joycons I've gone through with the drift issues

Im spanish, I get a second hand Nintendo Switch week ago. I didn't spend money on it, I basically changed it by a old laptop.
The problem is that the switch not charge the joycons, first of all I thought that the problem was the joycons. I tried charge both joycons on my girlfriend's switch and there are okay, both charge correctly. So the problem is my switch. Anyone knows what's causing the problem? I have done replacements on some laptops before, but I don't know what's the part that cause the issue on the switch. I will be very glad if someone said me what part I need to buy for replace it. Thanks!! And sorry for my English, I tried explain it the best way.
The console has overheating too, docked and handled mode, it shut down after few minutes, I will order new fan, thermal paste, new sliders for the console, and new battery.
This was I posted on a lot of forums and no one helped me. OMG Im sure this fucking diode is the problem, I will try it when I get the order of the new battery and thermal paste. I was worried because I am good at fixing notebooks but at a basic level, I have not yet learned solder (I would like to buy the necessary equipment someday) but I saw u removing the diode with a tweezers and I think I can do it.
