I Bought 7 BROKEN Nintendo Switches - But Are They Fixable? These 3 Switches and 4 Switch Lites are from a larger lot and I paid $105 each for them. They have a variety of problems including broken buttons (of course), messed up thumb sticks (of course), screen issues, game card slot issues, and I also replace the case on one.

Happy new year
@@karthikeyan-th1ct Happy New Year!
Whenever I klick on that BW-100 link I get a message that all eligible products are currently unavailable.
The extreme rate case is really pretty. I was about to scream when you just pushed the donor screen out. 😂
@@MyRegardsToTheDodo Hmmm. Strange. They work for me. Where are you located? It may not be available everywhere.
Incredibly hot take but broken consoles and parts should be incredibly cheap to buy. But I mean completely broken, like not turning on at all. I think it's wild that you have to pay 100 bucks for a broken device that might not even work even after a long tiring repair.
Broken device "market" is wild.
If you think $100 is expensive you should see some of the prices on broken GPUs… it’s absolutely insane
@@chrisbagnell Yup! I have seen few broken GPUs with absolutely destroyed HDMI ports and some with typical "It stopped working so I threw it in oven" and all the plastic parts have melted..
I wish that were true but it's not anymore. Broken stuff on eBay sometimes goes for more than what used items go for. It's crazy.
I'm curious who treats such an expensive games console like that and wonder why they even bother
Thank you for keeping our game systems out of the landfills! You're a Super Hero to all us gamers!
Thanks!
You might want to consider recycling old electronic devices. Keeps them out of the landfills aswell. Just saying.
I agree
You've probably seen it all by now, but the state of some of these never cease to amaze me. What do people even DO with these things to get them like that? I had an OG Game Boy way back when and I took such good care of it, because I knew it was expensive and it was also just special to me. The expendability attitude that some of these devices seem to come from nowadays sickens me.
Every time I watch one of your videos I'm shocked how poorly people take care of their consoles. Like how to do bend the rails so badly where the joycons go?!
You should pick up a screen preheater/hotplate thing for when you go screen repairs. Makes a world of difference when you can gently warm up the adhesive.
With the switch lites, a lot of them were reported with an issue of the sound, the one I have atleast has that issue, it still works and plays games and word just as good as a regular one but if you have the volume all the way up and the sound gets to loud it will crash the system, not sure if you were aware of this issue with the switch lites but in case you didn’t might be something you want to check too ! It happens to me as soon as the opening credits start in Pokémon sword, because the music in the stadium is so loud.
The reassembly at 5:56 was so satisfying 🤤 That being said, I might recommend cutting a little earlier (but keeping the sound) so that it looks and sounds like the piece is assembled the moment it touches down. Great vids, love to see the editing keep improving!
I typically see other restoration channels do the instantaneous reassembly thing, so the way Steve pauses a moment to give us a tour of each part is familiar and uniquely him, IMO.
I really question how people even get their sticks that dirty. Like there's dirty and then there's absolutely disgusting...
9:50 You should also replace the thermal paste under the copper where you only put it on top. You can unclip the shield and replace it then. It is better for the thermals.
It is a great video, but it does always worry me from an environmental perspective how many of these products with all their expensive and rare components could just be fixed. I mean, with one all that needed to be done was lift 1 little pin back into place, yet it was thrown away!
I truly love how much care you have on all of your repairs. Thank you for uploading such satisfying videos :)
I really love that blue/purple shell switch. It's very sharp!
I really like how that one turned out.
Yeah but i hate that theres no switch logo on the back
@@Tamay. I'd love to get my hands on it and put tronicsfix logo on it.
@@Tronicsfix Out of curiosity are you going to post these to eBay or your shop?
When I bought my last shell for a shell swap I was torn between this one and the clear dark blue one from extremerate. In the end I decided on the clear blue one, but it was close.
Hi
Use a heat pad to warm up the screen, that will soften the glue and you'll be able to remove the screen real easy
Another great video! Thanks Steve! Question: what could cause the display on a water-damaged Switch to go dim? Even with brightness setting at max, it's still dim. Display is visible only under bright light at an angle. Thanks in advance!
Nice job. Always a pleasure to watch. As for putting back the screws, always rotate the screw counterclockwise first until it drops in so that the screw thread gets in the position with the thread from plastic. Otherwise you recut a new thread over the old one and stretching the plastic.
I love the editing where you just toss the pieces back into place
#2 puts itself back together, all he has to do it's throw the parts back in, and they bolt themselves in. Also it would be awesome if the full Switch had different color options, now that you mention that blue case
I know it would have taken time to do but I would have given Switch Number 7 a new housing. Those bite marks makes the Switch look awful and on top of that you can never apply a proper screen protector without seeing the imperfections showing so long as the bite marks still remains. What I would do is revisit Switch Number 7 later on and change the shell, give it a replacement screen if needed and give it a Kickstand to protect the Micro SD Card. If I already didn't have a Switch I'd gladly pay for a Seller Refurbished price instead of paying for a Used and Abused price.
6:00 Loving the new instant fixed effects now Sir. Nice little spin on your videos.
Honestly thats an amazing lot all easy fixes and all of them turning on without issues, but anyway i think that if you had to change a usb c port and or an m92 you would do great as always but its more time consuming, happy new year Steve :)
Cracked up with the sequence of tossing the parts in place. I love the little cut sequences thrown in there between the full teardowns/installs.
I love your work man ! Been watching your repairs for awhile.
man I love looking at that magnified screen, it looks like major demolition... but logically we know it's just a tiny button xD but so satisfying!
I need to LOOK INTO this type of repair Seriously!!! I'll check out more of your videos and take some notes to teach MYSELF, like I always do. I'm pretty good with memorizing repair techniques!!
I love your content and you repairing stuff helped me fix a old xbox i had. thank you
Great editing on the re-assemble
Some really nice fixes in there Steve, also really liked the look of that new case. My T-Shirt is on it's way 😎😎
I love the look of that custom shell. Thank you so much for the support. It means a lot.
Awesome stuff Steve and so so close now. Caught your test stream earlier. If you need any help I'm at your disposal:)
Thanks Phil. I appreciate it. Ya, just getting things set up.
@@Tronicsfix no problem, can't wait 😊
Great video never realized how simplistic these things are to fix.
I know its probably not as much of an interesting video but id love to see a video on how to get industrial or tough solder off boards. Some techniques that you found helpful. Regardless keep up the great videos!
How do we use BW-100 to fix minor joycon drift on a lite? Do we have to take the console apart, or just put a little on where the joycon meets the console?
Steve. Greetings from Australia. Thanks for an interesting year of videos. Wishing you all the best for 2022.
That metal clank at 6:17 was so satisfying!
Yo! The new zoom in looks so crisp! New camera i presume? In any case it's a hell of an upgrade and I can't wait to see more recorded with it!
New microscope. I'm really liking the result too!
Just what I needed before 2022! Thank you and a happy new year form the Netherlands! 🇳🇱
Happy new year!
how many times did you say BW100 lol. good video love watching fix it vids keep them up. happy new year
Happy new year Steve!
Thank you! You too
almost 1m, keep it up my man💪🤯
Hey Steve, your Switch fixes are the best, man!
Do you have any resources on how to fix a Switch with self touching touch screen (it is clicking on its own) and an HDMI port that does not connect to the dock but it does to other HDMI/USB-C connector? Would love to send it for you to fix but I am in South America and would not trust anyone else with my console.
Thanks and amazing work!
Nice video to end the year with. Waiting to see more of your awesome work next year as well.
Happy new year to you~
Thanks! You too!
Your videos are still so entertaining! Great job!
Thanks so much!
It`s shocking how people throw away obviously fixable consoles like the one with the bad controller rails
Love the extreme close ups. Did you change your setup?
Happy new year. Great job.
Extremerate shells are really good, i have one for the normal switch and the texture is better than the original
I really enjoy your videos, and keep them coming. Hope you and your family have a great new year.
I liked that reassembly around the 6:15 mark.
I honestly wonder if polywatch can help with the scratched screens. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone try it on a Switch of any kind.
More devices saved from the landfill. Awesome!
Thanks for the vids. So relaxing.
God bless you for keeping old hardware working for others to enjoy in the future and keeping it out of landfill.
Thanks 👍
Great video to finish of the new year. And that t-shirt looks amazing. Thanks for all the great content this year, and all the best for 2022. So close to that 1M.
Much appreciated!
Almost 1 Million subscribers Bro 😁 Congratulations, Happy New Year.
Cant believe you're about to make it to a million within the day. You deserved it along time ago! Been watching a long time and have learned tons from you, congrats!
Happy New year and congrats on the 1M subscribers🎊🎊
When removing the screens from the shells I slightly heat them with a heat gun...... works wonders!
Hey Tronic! I really needed help with my laptop. A few weeks ago I had updated my game driver of the GPU and suddenly the GPU and all its related software stopped working. I tried reinstalling it all from scratch and even reset the windows 10 but it still did not work. By the way love your content man keep it up!
Thanks for another great video! Happy new year!!!
At 11:30 you note how the pins in the cartridge slot are bent, so you put them back into place. But how did it happen in the first place and what prevents it from happening again?
Happy New Years. Keep the great videos coming!
You too! I will!
Saw you were at 999k subs, so I dropped you one as well. It’s a thank you for helping me fix my switch a few weeks ago.
Gratz on 1 million subs!
Love the videos!
Happy New Year to you and the Family and everyone here in the comments thank for another great vid
As always tonics an amazing video ..great fixes. Keep it uppppp👍
The New Year going out with a banger of a video
999k subs, sooo close, fingers crossed for you to hit the 1M mark very soon!!
You do amazing job fixing these consoles Steve I can't wait for a fixable Wii and a fixable GameCube unless you fixed those already
I've got a big Wii U video coming but haven't had time to film it yet. Hopefully in 2022
@@Tronicsfix oh cool is it a special edition or just the black one
I approve the snap transitions 👍
Yes, the perfect amount of thermal paste T-shirt finally I see it in action, getting it for starting the new year, thanks, dude.
happy new year steve.. job well done XD
Awesomeness! Love watching your videos. Very satisfying.
Congratulations Steve. 1 million subscribers 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Congrats on 1 million subs. You should be hitting it any moment now!
*CONGRAT FOR 1M SUBSCRIBERS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!*
Thanks! Almost there
@@Tronicsfix yes, only 2000 subs left!
I got some BW 100! I didn’t know about this cleaner
Great video really enjoyed it keep it up
This reminded me of when my parents through out my original Xbox but one of the workers at the dump realized it just had a disk stuck in it, fixed it right away, and got my Xbox
well done on 1M!!
Congratulations for 1M subscribers! And Happy New Year! 💙
Why don't you use isopropyl alcohol or an adhesive remover to remove the display?
A heatgun would also be an option.
Might I ask what adhesive you used for the screen replacement?
Great vid
Keep up the great work and content
Thanks, will do!
This is a great video, thanks for posting.
Now that was a really good lot. Good job!
I really enjoy these videos.
Good luck on 1M subs. So close!
So close!
love your videos, cant wait to see more in 2022
So glad you enjoy them! There's more coming!
ALWAYS NICE TO SEE YOUR VIDS
I was literally watching your other switch repair video and now this one, what a great day
So glad you're enjoying these!
That switch that wouldn’t charge.. had a strange issue on mine. I didn’t use my switch for over half of a year and it wouldn’t HOLD a charge. It would still charge and turn on but would be dead in an hour or the next day with no use.
I don’t understand how it fixed it but unplugging the battery and plugging it back in reset it? It now holds a charge like day 1. So I guess never let them die completely with no use lol
I still really enjoy the magic reassembly process 😁
I normally admire your work and I think what you do is absolutely amazing but pleeease use a heat gun or a heat mat to soften the adhesive around the screen next time !! :D 7:33
Oh cool, I didn’t realize the analog sticks were just screw in and not soldered! Thanks!
Sad seeing all these awesome consoles broken.
Switch #5 has that exact same problem as mine, also it’s broken like that on the same side as switch #5
999 thousands subs
lets start this new year with a million
congrats bro with amazing content 👏🏻
Switch repair subbed me to the channel, glad to see more of them
Glad you enjoy these! I've got an OLED Switch repair video coming up.
@@Tronicsfix nice, excited for that
Would it not be easier if you put the screen on a heating pad for 10 minutes before trying to take it out ?
Congrats in advance for the Million Subs! You definitely deserve it mate!
Thanks a ton!
