They Botched This Nintendo Switch Repair - Can I Fix It? One of my viewers had a repair "professional" try to fix this Switch (and he also tried to fix it himself) but it's still broken so he sent it to me. The problem is with getting the video chip solder pads to connect... and also repairing two torn circuit traces. Hopefully I'm up for the challenge.

All those "professionals" around who scam others. They don't even know how to apply the perfect amount of thermal paste.
Hahaha!
Man, German efficiency with packaging AND German chocolate?! That's pretty good!
Theres only one thing where we are not efficient and it's building airports.
@@Tobi_DarkKnight Well.. we built it, but it won't work 😂
@@jochenwuerfel die machen eine Zwischendecke hin, weil die Sprenkleranglage zu hässlich sind.
@@Tobi_DarkKnight 😁
Sofort gefeiert als ich dad gesehen habe 😂
I love the most important part of the repair: the perfect amount of thermal paste!!!
Steve should write that on a T-Shirt.
The most important part after the repair: the perfect amount of chocolate.
@@haleman1704 Shut up and take my money
Was not disappointed in seeing the perfect amount of thermal paste applied!
It's my therapy
I just want to appreciate how many devices that you've repaired and not going into landfills
I heard the PS5 supply chain bottleneck is primarily caused by them using Steve to apply the perfect amount of liquid metal. They don’t trust anyone else to do it.
Lolololol 😂
Ritter Sport Chocolate, a German classic, comes in almost every flavor/variety you can think of...
Ja das stimmt
I miss Milka Coffee that i bought in germany when i was younger :(
Quadratisch. Praktisch. Gut.
The coconut flavour is the very best choice. Sadly, it is _very_ hard to find here in Canada.
@@simcahazeman8863 ja man
I bet the guy who sent the switch was super hype when he seen the switch come on! Congratulations🎉
I thumbed this video up when he bit into the German chocolate!
Thanks for watching!
I would typically remove the chip to conduct this trace repair. Was interesting to see it done without removal. Good to see a different approach that works!
Hey Micro Mage ahaha! I was gonna say I would do the same ahah but ether way works
These are the best video, fixing things we as owners try and never could and even had paid someone to do so and still nothing. Awesome video sir
So glad you enjoyed it!
You need to open the chocolate by breaking it in the middle! Other than that - good video 😉
Then wouldn't you need to eat the entire thing at once?
@@Saltiren It's the intended way of opening it and it just splits in the middle. The package comes apart at the seams then. No matter how you open it, it's -open- afterwards 😅. You can also easily break off single pieces like that.
Now you tell me!
Awesome repair Steve as always. Glad you managed to get this working 💪
I agree mate that was a great repair
The perfect amount of thermal paste: 60% of the time, it works every time.
Ehrenmann mit der Schokolade 😊
Einfach die Knusperflakes reingepackt.
Vielleicht sollte man ihm ein Tutorial basteln, wie man Ritter Sport richtig öffnet 😉
richtig klasse!
@@Harpoon6666 Oder isst :D

You are NOT a repair person you are a surgeon that has a heart, and that is why your channel does so well.
I have watched you from almost your first video and commented (quite verbal I am, much to your chagrin I imagine) on most. Extraordinary talent on board level repairs, logic in fault chasing and just pretty knowledgeable all around sir.
Board level repair on such small circuitry is beyond me, having done it in locomotives where the components are the size of grapes and the traces are 1/8 inch wide and 1/8 inch apart, I find the small boards require sufficient velocity to completely disassemble themselves on impact with a sufficiently hard surface.
Love the vids, love the logic you employ, love that you have a huge heart and lastly love that you allow us to ride along with you during your repairs.
Never repaired any electronic and have no skills in it. But watching you repair stuff is always satisfying
I know right he does such amazing jobs doesnt he! I do console repairs too and its great!!
Just found your channel and wanted to say, you're awesome! I love your content and also, fixing that Switch for one of your viewers was so amazing of you.
I have that exact same Ifixit kit, and I absolutely love it!! I added a tiny Olight i1r flashlight as well, and it seems to cover every repair I've needed it for so far. Love your channel during boring office days!
You're a wizard. Simply watching you work is mesmerizing.
The perfect amount of Ritter SPORT
Steve, you earned that chocolate! Great Job!
Ha, ha...thanks!
Man I never get tired of seeing you fix this stuff I miss my days working on boards and this gets my fix good
I’m new to this channel and I’m addicted ! Love these repair vids - thanks Steve
Just love how you soldered those 2 wires!
Love this guy. Great attitude, great info and educational material.
And he’s so nice.
I love how you like most of the comments... Making them feel like I see you and I appreciate you watching my video... I like how you have a passion about something and always take it as a challenge to fix something... The amazing thing is, whenever you take a repair case that has made you so confused and never got a solution as a challenge but eventually you manage to fix it... It never actually leave your mind and will always remain in your memory so it is worth the time that you invested in this case and actually give a big amount of experience and also hype you up to fix/solve another device... Great videos man I really enjoy it👍
Oh my favorite! The repair the "botched repairs" videos are always so surprising
I just found this channel, and I wish I had found it sooner. I haven't had any broken electronics outside of my car (and a poor experience with a stealership), but there is lots of useful information that applies to any electronics.
Oh Steve, you opened the Rittersport wrong! You have to bend it in the middle :D
Such a great fix Steve nice to see you back. I do wonder who these "repair shops" Are that people are sending them too because any legit repair business should have been able to do that job easily.
This one time when I was 9 years old I put the perfect amount of mustard on a hotdog
I really need to thank u Steve,i learned a lot with your channel and thats why i started a video game collection, all by getting broken things and fixing,i could even get some money fixing things for my friends !
i really enjoyed watching you bro. i hope you never get tired :D . stay healthy and always put the right amount of thermal paste !
Love your content! Keep the awesome, educational videos coming bro!
A great fix and as always you make it look so easy. You sir are a pro.
Awesome work bro! 👏😍
you are so well trained and experinced brooo, watching you fix things is like watching an action movie
Hello, i am french and everytime you say "the perfect amount of thermal paste", i have a smile 😊. I like your work.
My guy was so confident Steve would take on this repair he didn’t even bother with the thermal paste after he tried to repair it😂😂 threw the screws back on and was like “well if he won’t do it, it’s a lost cause.”
I'm so glad you uploaded .. It makes my day !
So glad to hear that!
Man, I just love watching your videos! Why don't you do some old consoles repairs (Ps1, Ps2, etc)? The would be awesome!
Awesome job well done Steve!
I really love how you make people feel, keep it up bro, we love to see more of ur video from Nigeria, I wish I can ship my PS2 console to u...
Nice one steve, always a pleasure 👍
Nice this is me with my switch. Watching all your videos trying to figure out what's wrong with it lol
I believe it was Confucius who once said "Man who understands the perfect amount of thermal paste, is indeed on the path to enlightenment ".
well done.. great feeling when you fix stuff in general.
You made this look so easy 😁😁 Great job Steve!
Thank you
I love all your videos continue like that you are the best ❤️
Hey, ifixit, I used this channel to pull the plug and buy a protech kit. I love it. Other readers, please go buy one.
Great video Steve, greetings from Germany. :)

ifixit are legit the best tools ever i love them
In conclusion, I want that chocolate.
Ha, ha...that was the best part!
I've done repairs. I love you showing what doesn't work as well as what does.
Edit: Your tools list doesn't include the charge indicator.
I have caught a few of your videos but this one made me subscribe. There ain’t nothing you can’t fix
Love these videos 😊
Another great repair!
I'm sitting here eating my afternoon snack, super nervous because I'm having an exam in 1 and a half hours and I cheered when I saw that switch working. Thanks Steve!
Great vid as usual

Another successful day of saving a broken device! So nice
And I thought I had great soldering skills..got back to the learning chair with this video! got any video about soldering? which flux, soldering iron and this interesting blue wire you are using? thanks and congratulations! greetings from Brazil!
I really thought that P13 chip needed to move up a bit but I guess I was wrong.....good stuff TronicsFix.
You are amazing dude!
Thanks for your highly educational videos, and thanks to your highly educational videos, I now have a job at Nintendo in their tech services dept. True story, I start on Monday.
Wow great video. I really like how you repair this type of console.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love to see ewaste prevention! Awesome job.
Great job!
Again a very high quality fix video, you make it look so easy but you are really skilled with the solderingiron. This is the reason i love these video's instead of throwing it away just take some time and practice and fix it. Love it when a plan and the perfect amount of thermal paste come together 👍🏻 Will you ever try a live fixing stream? It will beat netflix 😉
Thanks! Someday I might livestream some repairs.
I love your job... Amazing..
Seeing Switch and DS fixes never gets old
Your a GOD at what you do NO JOKE
That wire fix was awesome!
Your skills are amazing 👍
damn you made that tiny trace patch look easy, i think its hard to realise in the video just how small all that stuff is.
Man that was amazing!
I wanna see you repair a Hardrive... mostly are consoles here..
.
Your videos and your style are cool so far..
hi sir.i may not understand motherboards but i really admire ur skill. Godbless
this is why i watch this channel, this is heart warming to me
So glad you like these vids!
Hey dude, your videos are very instructional, i love them. Did you learn to fix eletronics by yourself? I wonder where do you gather so much information about specific components and common problems on consoles.
I just love your videos 😊
I have the same ifixit pro tech kit....but I dropped the screw driver and in the same movement managed to step on it and it broke :( , going to need to get another, because it’s by far the best kit on the market....
Your videos never disappoint
I love the Way you ate the chocolate 🍫 & liked your Work too
That wire thing you did was slick.
Nice Fix.And Hello From Germany.
It always amazes me how shoddy these so called professionals are. I know nothing of board repairs and even I'd look at that and go....I don't think you soldered that on there right.....Nice job Steve!
You can go ahead an open up your own repair shop advertising yourself as a professional today. I'm sure you'll run into a situation like this where you would be unable to complete the job for your customer, and then you'd suddenly be the shoddy "professional". It only takes one job.
Granted, it said that the person tried soldering it back on themselves too afterwards, so this time it was probably the guy who attempted it.
very nice job!!!
greetings from Germany
Wonderful repair video. I was wondering when you were going back to doing these because missed them.
I know it has been a while hasn it? I do console repairs videos myself too! If you needing extra content to watch
