This was a very helpful video. I followed along as I changed the fan on my son's switch. I ended up taking off the heat sink and adding new thermal paste afterwards. I undid the screws on the card reader and disconnected the cable next to the fan. This allowed enough access to undo the third screw on the fan. Other than that, it was a pretty straight forward fix. Thanks for the video.
I appreciate the level of detail and chill commentary. I followed along because I didn't want to end up with an extra screw. Thanks for the video, Mr. "With Ease."
@@Joesge Hey, your website doesn't have a way to fix overheating for Nintendo switch. There is not a button for overheating or fix the fan. It would be nice if you added a fix the fan button. I don't want to choose cracked screen because that's not what I'm sending it for I don't want to send it for power problems because there's no power problems. I don't want to send it for charging because there's no charging problems. So I have no button for fixing the fan. What do you do in this situation?. I was planning on using you instead of my local computer store. But there is no way I can send it. It doesn't have a spot for overheating.
Just replaced my switch fan. Great instructional. Waiting on the battery today and gonna crack it back open to do that as well! Thank you for this video!
What a great video. I also added more thermal paste, which was just removal of three more screws. Removing the heat sink will make the fan cable installation a little easier (if you are adding more thermal paste)
Awesome video! I ended up removing the heatsink and adding new thermal paste, which wasn't shown (Its so simple, so I can see why it was skipped), but otherwise this was perfect! TY!!
Hi! Thanks for the video, I found it very useful in repairing the fan, however now the Nintendo will not turn on! Do you know what I may have done, and is there any way I can repair it or get it repaired by a specialist
The switch Lite is different, but similar. If you are pretty electronically inclined you could figure it out pretty easy. Unfortunately we do not have a video on how to replace a fan on a switch lite, but there probably are some on RUclips.
I changed the fan my daughter's Nintendo Switch(original), and now the touch screen and game reader are not working, how much pressure is needed to seat the reader connector? Is it supposed to rock after it is installed properly? I am afraid to put too much pressure on it to seat the connector, I am uncertain if it is seated. It does not click when it is pushed down, is it supposed to? I have studied the pins and socket and can not see anything wrong.
This is almost 100% the game reader not plugged into the main board. It will snap into place when you plug it in, but doesn't need excessive pressure. Here is a time stamp to example: ruclips.net/video/nVep_yK0DMs/видео.htmlfeature=shared&t=561
Do the right thing, take the heatsink off, don't risk breaking the connector by finagling under the heat pipe, it takes 10 more seconds to do it, and you can replace the thermal paste while you are at it.

Tried this on my og switch and the damn clamp connector for the fan ribbon cable snapped right off the motherboard when i was trying to detach the cable. Had to send it in to Nintendo anyway. 😡 😢

Do you guys still work on switches? I followed along and my fan works, but the SD card isn't being recognized. It looks like it's plugged in well, but no dice when actually booted. I wouldn't mind sending it in but it looks like the site doesn't have an options for switches.
We currently do not offer switch repairs, but it sounds like you are having an SD card issue, and we do sell them on our website. Here is a video showing how to replace it. -> ruclips.net/video/qbAGdmoXYgM/видео.html

@@Joesge Yeah I was feeling super confident with your video and I realized most of the screws are a tad calcified in the same way a battery might be. It's the launch Switch so I'm not super surprised. At least the OLED Switch is back in stock for the time being. :o
Nintendo is sick in terms of designing their layout, broke one y screw and left joycon ribbon because i don't know what i was doing, not hard, just have to do it carefully

why do some of the fans have circle holes around them and others are like a u....i assume either works on the normal switch not lite or oled.....
great tutorial made it really easy to fix the fan (in my opion i had an even easier time when i removed the heat sync but either way it worked great)

I can't figure out how you unclipped the clip too the fan. Would be nice to get a close up
Fold the clip up, then slide out the fan ribbon.

Trying to replace the fan with the heatsink in place was really hard, popping the heatsink off is easy. 1/10 do not recommend.
