    Thanks for the video! Narrowed the problem down to the left joycon rail and this is infinitely better than another guide I saw. Did the repair but either a couple screws were in too tight or my screwdriver was crappy. Ended up stripping two screws holding in the left joycon rail. Had to partially drill them out and break them off, hopefully the screws that are left are good enough! The middle one was fine at least. Working perfectly now!

    Learn from my mistake! I am an amateur and I've successfully repaired other things like replacing a power supply on the motherboard of a flat screen TV, and repaired one or two other similar things.
    I followed this video easily up until removing the ribbon connector. I had watched how the battery cable was disconnected with a plastic spudger, and I did the same successfully. But then when watching the part about removing the ribbon cable, I misunderstood and thought I needed to remove the entire white plastic piece. Using the same amount of force as I did with the battery wire, I pried off the white ribbon cable connector. That is a piece that was soldered on, and now it needs a much more complex repair. My Switch is out of commission until can get a replacement part and teach myself how to solder.
    I blame myself for the error, but hope I can help others avoid my mistake.

      Can I get an update on your switch? Did you get it repaired?

    • @alexh9024
      @alexh9024 Год назад +3

      @@Vandius24 I did get it repaired. I brought it to a local electronics repair store. They cautioned that it might be irreparable depending on what they saw under the microscope, but in my case I hadn't done too much damage. They were able to repair it and now the connectivity issue is resolved.
      For a new part plus the soldering, it cost ~$100 USD. Had I brought it to them in the first place without my breaking it, it would've been something like $40.

      Among all the things you could start with, a power supply unit is the worst thing to pick. It will literally kill you even when unplugged, the capacitors hold charge upwards of 500-1000V sometimes more. Touching the wrong thing will cost you an ambulance ride if you're lucky.
      If you don't know how to safely discharge a capacitor (or what is a capacitor) please just work on other sections instead

    My question is, is it possible if I have slightly loose joycons, to bend the metal rails in a way to make the joycons slide tighter. I don’t have vertical wiggle, it’s more horizontal or rather the joycons move back and forth towards you and away from you on the console. My joycons work great on other switches so it’s definitely loose rails. I’ve seen the electrical tape fix but I would rather actually fix the problem. I feel like it wouldn’t be hard to actually do, I’m just not confident in bending them the correct way to make them stiffer.

    I have a Nintendo switch that has the left rail (part where the joy con attaches) broken. (The rail is no longer attached and the orange-brown conducted is exposed) The left gray joycon is out of charge. It cannot be charged because it needs to be attached to the he console to charge. I do not have any other consoles that I can connect it with to charge. You can attach and charge the red controller (right) just fine it you cannot play two joycon games without a pro controller. Does anyone have ANY idea on how you are supposed to re-pair the gray joycon (if you had another way to charge it) or does it need repair? If it does need repair, where can it get repaired at? Is there a special part that needs to be ordered???
