Just used this tutorial today to fix my left joycon, thanks for the tips!
One thing I’d also recommend is reinforcing the part so the SL and SR buttons are more clicky. To do this, I took the old, faulty part and ripped off the ribbon cable, then used a knife to remove the electronic parts from it so it was just a flat board of the exact same shape. I then screwed both in together one on top of the other, so that the part didn’t flex as much when the buttons were pressed. It’s now more clicky than the original board, which is nice! The piece flexes less too so less prone to breaking.
yes. such a pro tip !!
I did just like you did, i was a litle more dificult to close, but worked. I hope that will improve the cable resistence. Thank you!
@@viniciussales4264 Yes, definitely made it more tough to close but once it closes it should be solid! Had to replace the Right joycon in the same way last year, and have not had any issues myself with either joycon so far.
My son dropped my switch and the joycon stopped connecting to the switch when attached. Found out the black bar wasn’t working anymore. You’re vid helped me disassemble the controller and it turns out the strip was unplugged (didn’t know it was a plug at all lol). Just plugged it back in and now it works. Thanks for the vid
Helped me repair my right joy-con so my son and I can play ACNH together! Thank you!
Thanks for the guide - helped me repair my buttons ❤️
Putting the cables back where they belong was a bit challenging, but it worked out fine in the end :)
You just saved my son $80! This was the best video I found on this subject. Thank you so much.
You obviously didn’t look that hard Christina
That was so uncalled for lol, also the sl and sr buttons aren’t even too important.
@@manzoh2248 Yeahx they're really not
They are if u play Mario party and etc w family

Just wanted to let you know you're still helping people to this day, I just fixed my right joy-con by following your video, thanks!!!
My switch fell yesterday and I ordered a kit to fix it. This video helped a lot, it’s working great. Thanks! ✅
Thank you, I ordered a kit with the pieces for both joy con and the screwdrivers on amazon and managed to repair by myself thanks to your video!!
Thanks! With your steps I fixed my Joy Cons! I wish you all the best! Cheers from Portugal!
Thanks a lot for this great tutorial, you just saved my joy-con, SL and SR buttons are working again. My son will be so happy when he'll get up tomorrow 👍
I’m really glad I could help 😁
Great video, and I love the ribbon cable tuck you did; definitely just extended the life of my joycon and prevented the same problem from happening again with one repair. Thank you so much for the help and clear step by step guidance! 🔆😸👍
YOU SAVED MEE!!
thank you for this very detailed and clear tutorial, returning back the parts was challenging you made it look very easy on your side haha, but nonetheless you earned a subscriber here!
Great video! Was having trouble with those ribbon cable tabs, and your video was one of the only ones to show them well. Thank you!
discovered this issues exactly like your example. I got my replacement ribbon cable on the way and I'll have it fixed soon thanks to you
Dude! You saved my right Joy Con. Thank you for the very helpful tutorial.
Glad it helped! 😉
THANK YOU! I just got a replacement ribbon cable because the other one folded completely making it unresponsive and i couldnt figure out how to position the new one so it doesnt fold and this helped so much! hoping this placement doesnt make it fold again 🙏🏽
Helped me out a bunch. My JoyCon was turning off when the cable wasn't 100% straight - obviously the overly creased stock cable problem.
Now it works a charm.
Super glad the trick helped!
I'm waiting for my repair kit to come in and I'm really nervous 😖 this video really encouraged me to try at least. For having a clear video I would like and sub
Thank you so much! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you! It was my first time to try repairing joy con but thanks to you I was able to do it nicely !
FINALLY! Thank you for an up close view of everything I needed :)
I'm so glad the video could help! 😁
Used your video to repair my right joycon. Thank-you!
In all the repair videos I've watched, even on iFixit's website, no one showed exactly where the ZIF connector was on the cable that connects the charging rail to the rest of the handheld. YOU DID, so thanks! Unfortunately, I wrecked my charging rail but have another one ready to go in tonight when I get home from work.
Great Tip on preventing the issue from happening again! Nice video, especially the zoomed in shots. Thanks for posting 😀
Yeah! I’m glad I could help!
Very useful, it has been of great help to me to fix the joycon. Thank you very much!!
Great tutorial! In my case, I found it easier using a tri-wing screw size 1.5 rather than 0.6. But anyways, now my joy con is working just perfect! Thank you!
It perfectly worked out for me! Thank you very much. You saved me a lot of money, for just a little effort :)
Thank you! This worked great for me. Love the clear steps and good quality close-ups.
I'm happy to hear that 😁
Thank you for sharing! I fixed the LH side first and 2 weeks later the RH side went on me. 🤦 This has saved me a lot of money! ❤️🙏
I’m really glad this video helped! 🙏🏻😁
This video saved me so much thanks for the up close video when my son dropped his switch the right controller stopped working and when I opened it a tiny spring fell out and I couldn't figure out where it went. Saved your video for when he breaks it again lol 😆
thank you for your tutorial, I fixed my right joycon by following this video
You saved my next weekend with my friend at Super Mario Party.
Greets from Germany 🙋🏼♂️
nice video ! helped me a lot and now its working flawlessly
Super glad to hear that!
Thanks for the tip about slipping the cable under the battery holder!
Saved me a bunch of money, and gave me the satisfaction of fixing something once broken - cheers!
Haha I'm glad to help, and exactly like you said the satisfaction of DIY fixing is quite nice 😁
Thanks a bunch, after watching your video I was confident enough to try this and it worked a treat.
Very fiddly, so I was happy I purchased a Gadgets Kit with all the screw drivers etc.
I say the process is part of the fun! 😆 glad it worked for you
Thanks for saving my right joycon! Very good tutorial!
You are welcome 😁
Worked really well for me. Thanks.
Take note this is only for the right joycon. Left joycon is slightly different. (Need to remove the battery).
Yep, it’s a little bit different, but glad I could help!
Thanks. Your tutorial is very detail! I replaced mine! Bought replacement (left and right joycon) part and tools online for only 1$.
Thank you, my two joy cons broked the same way, it was a litle diferent in the - joy con, but worked very well. My thanks again from Brazil!
I’m so glad it helped! You’re welcome 😁
I googled "joy con better way to fold ribbon cable" and this video came up. Thank you! I was literally fixing an issue of a bad fold of the ribbon cable.
I'm so glad the video helped! Mine still worked amazing until today with the new fold haha
@@namedkenn Sorry to hear about the failure. Guess you'll need that new ribbon cable after all.
You are an inovator =D Kudos, homie
Thanks a bunch, managed to fix it with your help much appreciated!
Thanks for the video. I did a ribbon cable swap TWICE on my left joycon because of the cable breaking after install. Probably gonna give it one last go now that I saw your method
your tutorials are amazing precise and clear. Thank you so much!!
You're welcome 🙏🏻
Thanks for the clear video. Saved my joycon. : )
Super video, with super camera quality thanks for the help
I'm glad it helped! Fun fact though this was filmed with an iPhone 7 Plus 😆 cool huh
Amazing tutorial ! Totally helped with my problems and my controllers are good as new :)!
You’re welcome! 😁 and happy gaming again haha
Thanks for the video. The cable slip was the tip I need it!
Glad I could help!
I just spent 2 weeks getting this problem fixed after thinking I broke the first replacement by bending it too much and it wouldn't work. Another replacement part later, I just now realized the little connector from the battery was slightly sticking out of its socket🤦🤦. Anyways thank you for your tutorial it was excellent and very thorough.
Worked like a charm, thank you very much!
Thanks man, I bought a “broken” switch from the pawn shop....$64.80 American moolah, by being broken i got this deal. Got it home for repair and it seemed like just the ribbon detached from the controller from an obvious fall. Guys, don’t be afraid to open the joy on up, follow this guys directions and be patient and you CAN do this yourself, trust me, I did!! Again thanks from Dallas/ft. Worth texxxas
Oh my goodness that is what I call a super good deal 🤣🤣
Thanks! The cable of mine was so sharply bent that it just didn’t work anymore. New one works :) thanks for the tutorial!
Thanks, this worked soooo well. Now I can finally play with friends again
I'm glad this helped you out! Now have a fun time there 😁
Very good tutorial, other tutorials i watched weren't as informative.
Thankyou 🙏🏻 glad you found it helpful!
Thank you very much, you save my right joycon and my money for sure, this tutorial is really helpful :D
You’re very welcome 😊
Thanks for this video, I was able to repair my son joycon following these instructions and the replacement cable and a tri wing screw bit. Cheaper than buying a replacement. The old cable was kinked and I replaced it just as you showed. It works perfectly now.
Thank you for this video. Just fixed my left joy-con with ease!
Thanks alot! Didn't think I'd find a great vid on such a minor topic
Own your niche they say haha 🤣 glad to help!
Thanks a lot I really appreciate it! My right controller wasn't working so I follow ur steps and it's back to normal.
I’m so glad it could help!
Thank you! Helped me a lot, I fixed both sides 😃
Thanks so much I just fixed my right joy con buttons and the light following this video! It was kinda tricky at times but I managed and all the buttons are fully working now. can finally play multiplayer mariokart with the wheels again!
Excellent video, I managed to follow your steps easily and was able to fix my broken Joy-Con. Thanks for putting this information out there.
Thanks a lot for the guide. Worked perfecly
Thank you so much for this video, I couldn't use the synch button one day and this helped a lot with fixing it.
My hands are big and they shake a lot when doing precision stuff so you can imagine how hard it was for me, especially dealing with those tiny connectors like the ribbon cables and the battery connector.
I think I meesed up tough because the actual sync button feels loose and I can't actually press it with my fingers, I have to use something to press it down and make it click, kinda like the wii days... by the time I noticed I couldn't be bothered to open it up again lmao. Maybe some other day.
fixed my right joycon with your tutorial. thx
Glad I could help!
Worked like a charm, wish i could like the vid twice!
Hahaha glad I could help!
you... can...
Thank you!! I’m going to order the parts soon so I can fix it!!
Hope you’ll get it soon!!
Thank you. I was so stuck on that particular one.
Thanks man my little brother broke his but I managed to disassemble it and fix it thanks to this video 👍
Kudos on the Video is a great tutorial, and I tried your idea of bending the cable, so it does not break. only something that can be added or for the people like me that were trying this repair for the first time the other Joycon has a different layout for the screws, so the step on lifting the battery base is a little different.
Thanks, you saved me a lot of money!
Thank you! thank youuuuu! Very clear explanation I was able to do it without a problem :)
Thank you for the tutorial! I was able to repair my two joycon.
This worked well for me -- thanks!
Thank you so much, this helped me fix my left joycon
Great to hear!
Thank you. Just fixed my first controller.
THANK YOU!!! You saved my joycon!
Great video, thanks for sharing the knowledge.
Great stuff! Big money saved on a replacement 👍👍👍
Haha glad I could help!
Thanks you assisted me well!! It's working now.
Glad it’s back working now 😁
Brilliant! One happy little boy and happy dad as it saved him a few quid
Thank you! Most of other videos show just how to replace the analogue stick and they don't actually remove the rail. I'm waiting for my ribbon cable to arrive and I'm replacing it soon with your guide, thanks :)
An update: just did the replacement - everything went well. Now I have a 100% functioning joy con, it's basically new and I didn't pay a fortune :)
grazie per il video, è stato cruciale per incoraggiarmi alla riparazione fai da te. saluti da ROMA
great video...thanks for the detail video
Thanks! I was able to fix my right joycon
Just fixed my remotes! thanks!! Just to keep in mind: the right remote does not have the NTC antenna and the screws are underneath the battery.
Thank you, saved me from putting the connector on the battery like i found it (wich was what it bent it and ruined it).
I've put the new one under like you and now works perfectly. You're awesome.
Mine still works well too until now! Glad I could help 😁
Do they still work now? Curious how long the fix lasts
@@johnhathewayg4054 it lasts until they fall again apparently.
Liked, Subscribed, and Shared your Tutorial! This was really helpful! and how you presented it really gives one the confidence to try it out!
Super thanks!
Btw, the Left Joy Con isn't a direct mirror of the Right Joy Con, so it took a bit of figuring out where to fine the screws (it was underneath the battery)
Showing how to disassemble the Left Joy-Con as well might help the less-adventurous followers of your channel :)
very clear and useful.
Thanks as well, successful repair of 2 joycons after following this video. Funny thing though with the red joycon purchased in the same set as the blue one as in this video, the red one didn’t seem to have the NFC antenna to disconnect
Thank you a lot.
Greetings from Belgium !
You are welcome!
thank you for the folding tip
Thank You, Master!
Worked well for me
thank you so much!!! and the tip is amazing
You're so welcome!
Thanks for the vid, might attempt a full a self repair. For now I've fixed mine with a small bit of rubber like nonslip mat inside the kinked cable. This gave my cable enough curve to reconnect, we will see for how long.
This saved my life, and my wallet. Thank you!
Pleasure to help! 😁
great video 10/10 works perfectly! thanks
You’re welcome 😁
Thanks my Joycon is back to life :-)
Thanks man
I tried to repair my drifting joycon but got the cables out
This video saved my hide
Thanks for your help! Worked!
