  • In this video I'm fixing a Nintendo Switch that doesn't register joy-cons.
    This issue can be caused by faulty joy-cons, joy-con rails / ribbon cable or a fault on the motherboard. In this case it's a faulty rail that's causing the problem and I will demonstrate how to replace a faulty rail in Nintendo Switch.
    This is fairly easy repair and no soldering is required!
    The screwdriver I'm using:
    amzn.to/3PYw6fB (Amazon US)
    amzn.to/4cwBr7q (Amazon UK)
    s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DCC... (Aliexpress)
    amzn.to/3vp1sou (Amazon UK - this is a different one but also very good)

    The problem with the original rail is likely the piece at the bottom of the rail with the contact pins on both sides. The pins may have just been dirty and needed to be cleaned off. You can remove that piece by using a paper clip and pushing the silver pin out to free that piece. Once the piece is removed, you can then clean the contact pins on both sides of the chip.

      This is the one I'm using: amzn.to/3PYw6fB
      Not the cheapest but v.good quality and has two torque settings (which most others don't have).

    nintendo definitely designed this to annoy people. i finally found my old nintendo switch and thought it would be a good idea to replace old parts like the thermal paste and the screen because it was scratched but while taking it apart i unscrewed the left joycon rail because it was holding the heat shield down and when i took it out the ribbon cable just fell apart. now i have to pay another £13 just to get a new part

    If I take my switch to be repaired and it needs new parts, will My console be in danger of being ban?

    • @RetroTechCorner
      @RetroTechCorner  Год назад +2

      No, the console won't be banned (assuming it's a repair and not modchip install or software modification)

    It's harder to make something tough than to break something tough I agree it is annoying but they will fix that if they don't they'll have a riot

      Was the switch powered off when you followed the video? One thing you can do is disconnect the battery and then hold the power button for a solid minute to discharge all electricity from the board and capacitors and then put the battery cable back on and and try and power it on.
