Hey everyone. I'm sure this will help a few people. I haven't seen this fix very often only so posted it and hopefully, it helps. This fix will help you fix the issue with PS3 controllers that start to press random buttons on their own. The only thing it doesn't fix is bad analogs. You have to replace those with soldering new one in
Holy shit my controller was going all over the place, like absolute berserk mode! All the menus were twitching and scrambling around and if i literally moved the controller it would press about every single button simultaneously. It was bad. Like really bad. But this helped me fix it, you are a lifesaver :D

thus far its fixed my issue. my L1 and up were going all over the place now it's all fine. and those l1s are a b**** when trying to screw controller back on 😄 🤣 thanks dude

If one of the 5 screws outside the controller it's damaged with rounded head, how could unscrew it?
It works. Do as in this video.
I've watch videos which people (idiots) that use WD-40 spray on their controls joysticks & buttons 😖. Idiots do not understand that WD-40 is oil base not recommended for any type electrical (battery) controllers or consoles because it's oil base it collects dust, lint, dirt making it sticky. Common sense.

Not much. You would need lots of them to get a good amount. I always give the following example. There was a video a couple of years ago where a scrapper had to scrap about 150 ram stick fingers to get about $40 of gold. Pretty much whatever you scrap, you need a large amount of stuff.
Used this method. Cleaned the contacts, even added the filler for the rubber strip. Cleaned the contacts for the buttons as well. Still did not work. PS3 controller was left in storage, unused for over two years. Just when I thought I wanted to do some old PS3 games, controller kept going left on the X-menu. :-( I don't wanna spend $20 for a controller. It's like buying another copy of my old title I plan to play. Annoying these things break without even being used.

This is happening with two brand new ps2 official Controllers I've gotten recently. I've been trying to figure out the problem. Maybe same issue as here, but there's a black block in the way with the dual shock 2
It could be. I've never had that issue with a PS2 controller
I do remember opening the ds2 as a kid and breaking the rumble cables so beware. and usually when opening it you had to match the contact points perfectly or your controller will become worse than it was. went thru to many ds2 to count and headsets, whew, sure my parents wasted money on donkey ass made ps2 stuff. ps2 slims, burned two of them pulling all nighters, socom 2 online, me and my bro burned our shit up, game froze, it smelled like something burning and would you know the lasers were melted creamed. crazy. still piss me off sony stole money from us like that. anyways good luck fixing it

You need to change the analog. You need to bring it to a repair guy, fix it yourself by soldering in a new one or getting a new controller

did all that and had no tape.....
Tape just makes it easier for things to just stay together. It's doable without the tape
