Masha Allah thank you for this info. First time to hear only you can topic real talk,I agree to you because me not to much drink water way 1400 years ago said of our Prophet Muhammad Pbuh is swallow water 3 times and eat if you are hungry and not to much food.
Alex, you presented a good, informative video. I am going to follow your idea from now on. The traditional Indian (from India) concept of how much liquids to consume also confirms your Chinese ieda .
WOW I was so happy to come across this video. Throughout my entire life, and i will be 76 next month, i was never really thirsty. I never liked water either. I pretty much drink just for the taste. I love Coke and Iced Tea. I drink a small bottle of water per day. I never had a problem with dehydration. Isn't it weird how i am very rarely thirsty?
I’ve heard a few doctors say the same regarding water intake. When I was a child nobody told me I had to drink so much water and I drank only when I was thirsty. We would play outside all day long and I seldom got thirsty. It wasn’t until I came to the US that I was told to drink a lot of water. I’m in my 70s now and have sinus problems so I always have a dry mouth so now I always have a bottle of water nearby and sip a little bit just to wet my mouth. It’s not anywhere near 8 glasses of 8 ounces. Lol
It sounds like your electrolytes balance has been messed up due to the water. I used to filter water and then make bone broth with sea salt for my mother when she was elderly. This worked very well. If you drink bottled water, try Gerolsteiner as it is high in magnesium. This also made a huge difference for my mom. When she grew up, she had well water in a clean area. Alas, alas.
I second the other comment. Water is never the problem, it's water without electrolytes. Just some sea salt on the tongue after each glass of water changes everything. Most people are chronically dehydrated these days, so whike I love this channel, he's not entirely correct here.
Sleeping with the mouth open can be from mold spores in a room. Stuffy sinus is a symptom. Get a decent air purifier. I think you sinus will clear up. There is lot of indoor pollution that gets trapped in homes. Also, mouth breathing can cause cavities and dry mouth.
Good information and thank you for your good explanation and advice. I cannot drink 8 glasses of water. I always drink when I am thirsty. Thank you for good adviceUSA

Thankyou so much for this. i get so tired of people telling me i should 'drink water' as the answer for everything. one day years ago a friend was at me so much in one day , i just went along with it. by supper hour i had a migraine and for the first time in my life i threw up all that water, quite violently. I found out later that because of a medical condition i have as a result of injury - that was really dangerous for my brain. But, my body knew what to do - and every time some one has bugged me about it - i remember that event

My opinion is this is not applicable to old people because when you get old most of the time you can not feel thirst. You just suddenly experience shortness of breath because of lack of water. So it is better to drink water whether you feel thirsty or not.
I've just read cellodiva's comment below. I HAVE vomited from drinking too much water ! Having watched Alex Hui's excellent video, I've subscribed. I would like to make a couple of points : Some years ago I was visiting our local doctor; I told him that I only drink coffee & tea. He quite rightly, told me off & said ' The blood going through your arteries is like soup.' Do you want it to be thick soup or thin soup ? I now drink water, and just the occasional cup pf tea or coffee. I am a very fit 79 year old, I was getting up 2 or three times at at night to urinate. I now drink nothing after 6.30 p.m. Now I am getting only up only once to urinate. I hope this will help other older people. l.
What does Chinese Medicine say about drinking lots of warm water in the morning? I have heard it is good for health. Is it? How much ought one drink on empty stomach? Thank you❤
I say this to Glorify the Lord i drink only a small cup of water a day for a year now i work a lot sweat alot i don't get dehydrated i eat fruits and veggies raw minimal that's enough i think it's a miracle i survive truly the foods that we eat nourishes us and above all it's Yeshuva who keeps us alive...
This makes total sense. Trust your body to tell you. Don't force it down. We have those signals for a reason. Eat when you're hungry, drink when you're thirsty. Basic instinct.
I am still going to be drinking 8 cups of water a day even when I don't feel thirsty. I nearly passed out simply because I didn't have enough water in me. I rarely get thirsty, every time I waited to be thirsty to drink water I found myself drinking a cup or two which actually gave me side effects such as dizziness, lightheaded, short breathe, weakness and no appetite. Some doctor suggested I put myself on a water therapy of 8 glasses of water even if I didn't feel like drinking or else I will be drinking water by force through a drip. The more than 8 glasses of water has worked wonders for me. Feel free to do what works for you. Bodies are different.
Actually for those who has high uric acid level or kidney stones are advised to drink more water so they can help flush and lowerthe ua level in the blood. For normal people is may be ok not to drink to much .
Thank you sir. I have been battling overactive bladder for years with poor results. As a weightlifter and now singer, it was drilled in to me to drink loads of water. This is confirming my suspicions.
I lift too. 10/27/21 was the first day of overactive bladder. I had been taking youtheory collagen several weeks plus lots of spinach. Lots of spinach plus collagen led to bladder sediment from hard water. I perform kegels in addition to lifting, and use vit b6/cranberry/magnesium to ease bladder symptoms. Cold also induces diuresis(canada). I also use non weighted ab training to relax the area around the bladder. Its a difficult dilemma as alberta has hard water, that coupled with oxalates in foods increases sediment in urine and kidney/bladder risk, so i use the above nutrients plus moderate hydration to moderate bladder issues.
Very good information. Because my son always tells me to drink water, and I said I'm not thirsty, and I feel like I'm drowning if I force ,yselfbto drink a lot. So I was right, my body is telling me I don't need to drink a lot of water. Thank you for this information.
So true, I notice that whenever I drink a lot of water my skin becomes drier, I get hungrier and I pee a lot. But when I drink only when thirsty, everything in my body functions very well and my skin glows.
Thank you for bold enough to dispel this myth of 8 cups of water/day. Whenever I have forcefully tried it, I felt sick and un-natural. Then I decided myself that I am just going to listen to my body and drink when it feels like. I could not be healthier after that and lost a lot of weight.
I remember when ecstasy was the popular recreational drug of the time. Users were told to be careful of dehydration and to drink as much water as possible. A couple of people died not from the ecstasy tablet but from the amount of water they consumed which caused brain damage and organs to fail.
@Noway it's a theory or, in fact, a postulate, until proven by facts or evidence. Anybody can claim anything here. So, when you make such a claim, how and why should anybody believe it? It would take a very large amount of water to cause death through brain damage and organ failure. Most people would not even be able to physically intake so much water within a short time, well, unless perhaps their judgment and perception are screwed up by some drug abuse. Sorry, but just based on what you write here, this sounds very much like a weird theory, if I want to say it diplomatically. Apart from that, I'm well aware that overconsumption of water, like any overconsumption, is unhealthy, dangerous even. I never could understand that people actually believed this crap that drinking so much water should be necessary or healthy.
@@romedbucher2854 it is called water intoxication and it is a real thing. cells depend on water to balance osmosis functions. it must be in a constant yin and yang state. either extreme is disastrous for the cells, and the body.
Tysm for this priceless info. Truly our body is the best interpreter/one who can tell us what it needs/wants, just by listening to it. It's common sense that we should only do what it wants like if we're thirsty/hungry/tired etc & that's when we should only do it then. There's no rules what/when to do bc we're all different in every ways, it's stupid to follow only one rule for everyone. It really makes sense now :)
I’m 180 and I drink between 75 ounces and 100 ounces a day I love water and don’t agree that you don’t drink water until you feel thirsty I don’t think that’s healthy
I was always skeptical about this. Us Asians don’t walk around with water bottles and are some of the longest living people on earth. My mom is 80, healthy, and rarely did I see her chug water daily. All she does is stay active, stay at a healthy weight, and avoid sugar.
Those people are also likely not drinking loads of water, caffeinated energy drinks, sitting in front of computers all day, etc. Water intake in the US is actually usually too low in most but electrolytes are crucial and need to to be added as well, even if just via some sea salt.
I beg to differ that drink only when you’re thirsty. The saying to drink 8 cups of water does not apply to everyone as size of cup also matters. What’s required is to multiply your weight in kg. with 0.04 to determine the amount of water one need to drink per day. Key is to keep well hydrated. Not only that, one must drink at least a cup every 2 hours as our Red Blood Cells will start dehydrating after 2 hrs to ensure our blood viscosity remained good to avoid thickening the blood that hamper good blood circulation.
What you're saying about blood and viscosity is untrue. There is absolutely no need to be drinking water on a strict schedule. People should drink when they're thirsty.
I heard whatever our weight is we need to drink in ounces. I'm 220 which would be 220 ounces. But when water needs to be filtered these days it's hard to drink over 1 gallon a day.But yes he is correct about fruit and vegetables.
I adhere to the "drink when ur body asks for water". Sometimes we have to unlearn what we learned. Your body will speak to u what it needs. If it needs liquid, meat, raw veg or a good portion of sweet, always listen to your inner voice
Thank you. I have resisted the idea of drinking lots of water. If I drink too much water, my sleep is interrupted because I end up getting up during the night to pee. This affects my quality of sleep and in turn compromises my quality of life.
Thanks, it's true. Anyone who has tried the Fit For Life "diet" - not a diet but practicing food-combining, with lots of fruit & salads - knows that you don't need to be drinking water to become well hydrated.

Right you are, as a 69 year old, I can recall my youth days never paying attention to how much I drank water, and result is even now Ido not have any need to seek a doctor for health…. Thank you again and again for relieving the truth about human conditions 🥇💫
What do you mean maam
Thank for the information what about drinking coconut water whats the benefits of this..
Masha Allah thank you for this info. First time to hear only you can topic real talk,I agree to you because me not to much drink water way 1400 years ago said of our Prophet Muhammad Pbuh is swallow water 3 times and eat if you are hungry and not to much food.
Thank you so much, I was drinking a gallon of water every day. And I started losing weight really too fast.
Alex, you presented a good, informative video. I am going to follow your idea from now on. The traditional Indian (from India) concept of how much liquids to consume also confirms your Chinese ieda
.
Its not weird. It is normal if u love coke😂😂
me too. I drink coke, tea, ice tea, coffee, juice and I eat cucumber, watermelon, and pineapple but I rarely drink water.
This is definitely true.
Drinking 8 cups of water a day is a huge fallacy.
Good information and thank you for your good explanation and advice. I cannot drink 8 glasses of water. I always drink when I am thirsty. Thank you for good adviceUSA
You are so right . I’m so glad you cleared this point. Thank you again, so proud of you .
i love your simple way - i subscribed - i am from italy and since i was a child i have been in love with chinese martial arts ... qi gong i believe is extraordinary ... thanks a lot
This is new info for me listening to you but it makes sense.. all my life ive been struggling to drink 8 glasses of water a day no matter what season it is.. thank you for this enlightenment this was helpful!
It makes sense. This is not bullshit advice. Thanks.
Finally someone got it right I always thought it was wrong I'm my village we only drink water if your body will ask for it and the resistance don't suffer from any of this sickness I personally get sick if I drink more then 2 glasses but if I'm in hot wheather I can drink a full gallon and don't get sick thank I now know i was not crazy I listen to my body thank again for your correct imformacion ❤
That's right!
Always put a tiny pinch of salt in your water for maximum absorption of the water.
Natural salt..celtic seasalt, or himalayan

Hi Alex, thanks for dispelling the 8 glasses of water myth, any other myths that we should ignore ?
Yeah! Like having a reading of Blood Pressure of 120/80. Humans are different in physiology. I guess , that’s a co-census between pharmaceuticals and medical drs. Lol! I’m not falling for any of their shit. I eat everything in moderation and do my walking. The only time we need a good doctor is when we break our bones, we have a deep wound that needs to be saw back. Basically, a good surgeon.😊❤
@@GraceDollesin Well, the BP normal BP lie is SUPER BIG PHARMA cash cow. Blood pressure meds , statins and everything else. I wish there was someone revealing what isacceptable blood pressure is for seniors ?
This is a full degree-turn sbout from what is commonly preached" drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Thanks for.the input😊
My opinion is this is not applicable to old people because when you get old most of the time you can not feel thirst. You just suddenly experience shortness of breath because of lack of water. So it is better to drink water whether you feel thirsty or not.
Thanks for the advice, I did realize that 8 cups of water is a little too much as advised by others. Drink only when thirsty makes a lot of sense.
I hope this will help other older people.
l.
I am a diabetic patient,do meanineed not to drink 8glass of water evryday, how about if my urine is dark yelow,,,thank you
What does Chinese Medicine say about drinking lots of warm water in the morning? I have heard it is good for health. Is it? How much ought one drink on empty stomach? Thank you❤
Great information...and how can you stop the painful skin and tissues from water retention?
I say this to Glorify the Lord i drink only a small cup of water a day for a year now i work a lot sweat alot i don't get dehydrated i eat fruits and veggies raw minimal that's enough i think it's a miracle i survive truly the foods that we eat nourishes us and above all it's Yeshuva who keeps us alive...
Amen. Praise God
🙏🏿
All praises to Yehovah, Yeshua, and The Holy Spirit.
What about those with kidney problems with high creatinine and low Gfr levels? Would appreciate an answer to that question . Thanks
I'd like an answer to this too
Yes how about that issue would like to answer too👍
This makes total sense.
It make sense lovely vedeo I have question is there r any remedy for Parkinson disease in Chinese medicines
Very interesting & informative.Had no idea.I had to SUBCRIBE..👌🏼
@@5zazen The food additive labeled natural flavor can cause overactive bladder. Also citric acid and artificial sweeteners.
Very good information. Because my son always tells me to drink water, and I said I'm not thirsty, and I feel like I'm drowning if I force ,yselfbto drink a lot. So I was right, my body is telling me I don't need to drink a lot of water. Thank you for this information.
Thank you for your wisdom ,I never can drink 8 glasses of water 4 ,5 max
So true, I notice that whenever I drink a lot of water my skin becomes drier, I get hungrier and I pee a lot. But when I drink only when thirsty, everything in my body functions very well and my skin glows.
I didn't hear you mention body weight, but obviously a person with more mass (height and weight) typically requires more water. Thanks for the video.
People who are actually dehydrated sometimes don't feel thirsty. This has resulted in injury or even death in some cases e.g. Korey Stringer.
Thank you for bold enough to dispel this myth of 8 cups of water/day. Whenever I have forcefully tried it, I felt sick and un-natural. Then I decided myself that I am just going to listen to my body and drink when it feels like. I could not be healthier after that and lost a lot of weight.
Thank u,I always wondered about that,only drink when thirsty.Lovely vid.Have a nice day.❤
When I don't drink enough water I will feel the difference... But not 8 glasses.. Some need less others need more. We have to adjust accordingly...
I remember when ecstasy was the popular recreational drug of the time. Users were told to be careful of dehydration and to drink as much water as possible. A couple of people died not from the ecstasy tablet but from the amount of water they consumed which caused brain damage and organs to fail.
Wow that’s scary 😟
Wow, that's an interesting theory...based on... a couple of people...
Gtfoh....
@@romedbucher2854 it is called water intoxication and it is a real thing. cells depend on water to balance osmosis functions. it must be in a constant yin and yang state. either extreme is disastrous for the cells, and the body.
Great! Thanks a lot, Alex! I like your videos very much.
Thank you for your wisdom ✨
Very very Informative🖒Thank you Sir...😊
Animals don't drink more water than they need. Why don't scientists try to think about it?
Tysm for this priceless info. Truly our body is the best interpreter/one who can tell us what it needs/wants, just by listening to it. It's common sense that we should only do what it wants like if we're thirsty/hungry/tired etc & that's when we should only do it then. There's no rules what/when to do bc we're all different in every ways, it's stupid to follow only one rule for everyone. It really makes sense now :)
Thanks so much for the info Dr. Alex… watching from NY
Thank you doc. Could you please make a video for anemia or low blood pressure? I always feel tired ...thanj you!
It is good to know that we do not need to drink so much water thank you for the info
Don't wait til you're thirsty to drink water. I drink about a gallon of room temp water everyday. I feel great. No headaches and sicknesses.
We should only drink when we're thirsty. Anything else is medically unnecessary.
What will happen to if u not drnk water for about 24 hrs u shld. Dehydrates. No believe bcsuse if umake exercising u perspire yoo much
Those people are also likely not drinking loads of water, caffeinated energy drinks, sitting in front of computers all day, etc.
I am wondering who and when in history did follow the 1 cup of water every 2 hours 'rule '?
Do animals drink when thirsty or every 2 hours ?
What you're saying about blood and viscosity is untrue. There is absolutely no need to be drinking water on a strict schedule. People should drink when they're thirsty.
Very grateful for this information!! It works and I am feeling the good efects from these exercises!
I live in Florida. In the summer I get very thirsty so I drink lots of iced water. When it cools down I have trouble drinking water.
Thank you Alex. I found this very informative.
If it needs liquid, meat, raw veg or a good portion of sweet, always listen to your inner voice
tnx u doc. alex ilve your channel very nice . lve it
I agree with you doc
They told us that here in USA so can sell more water
Agree.
i drink more than 8 glasses of pure water and am still alive!
Besides water in food, there is water in coffee, tea, and other beverages that people drink. Most people drink more in hot weather than in cold, too.
THANKS ALEX IT GOOD OF YOU TO SHARE GOD BLESS YOU 🙏🙋🏻♀️🥰🇵🇭
Awesome information! Thanks!
Very interesting, great job well done 👍
Because of the "test" results of egfr "they" say that I have stage 3 kidney disease and told to drink 80 ounces of water/day by my PCP! Glad I found this. I'm drinking so much water that there's not much room left for food. I'm exercising a lot...running to the toilet! 🤣
How are you now after cutting down the water intake?
@@karlukecs Better...not so many bathroom trips especially at night. I will see what my egfr is in about a week to see if kidneys are functioning better. Thank you for asking.
@@DeborahPinkowski that’s good! Bathroom trips at night is my problem too.😅 i hope the next test result will have good result 🙏
@@karlukecs thank you so much. Sorry you have the night time bathroom issue. It surely interrupts sleep.
Interesting, I subscribed to your channel! I don't think i drink 8 cups of water but i like to have my bottle and drink as much as i can, If I don't my urine smells more and it gets darker, urine infections are more likely to occur. I feel water cleanses me, makes me more regular. I don't get sick, I thank water for that. I think drinking a lot of water is more for me., but I've learnt a lot from you.
Good morning, Dr Alex
I'm Marina Bristol, im injoy your show its very educational n your techniques works well .one thing I will like to ask is there any way I can help myself I dont want to take tablets for blood pressure or any pain I just don't like to pup pills in my mouth. I now found that my blood pressure is high what can I do to make it balanced thank you .Marina .
I totally agree 100%. I told my daughter that is a seriously flaw about drinking 8 cups a day. It lacks common sense.
Thanks Alex,I am glade I found you..
