I eat what I want and don't drink alot of water, also don't exercise. I just chalk it up to good genes, because I literally don't do anything to be healthy but I am.

Well, as he said do what works for you. Not everyone is gonna need 8 glasses of water a day. Has anyone ever asked why eight? What methodology was used to come to this metric? Many people hear "expert" and "studies" and take it as truth. Rarely, do people bother examining the studies or information for themselves. Humans have lived for millions of years without "studies" and "experts" telling them how and what to eat and drink. We are the only animals who don't know how to do that instinctually. I respect this youtuber for saying listen to your body and not try to say his way is the correct way. Most youtube "experts" will say whatever they say is the only correct way. Those are the ones I trust least.

I remember that marketing for this 8 cups a day began about 30 years ago. That is when "spring water" began to be sold en masse in plastic bottles. The "spring" is just tap water that is filtered. The problem with filtering water that goes into plastic is that it leaches more BPA/BPF/BPS from the plastic.

This makes so much sense. One cannot generalize that we all need 6-8 glasses of water everyday. It depends on how each person is built and how much they weigh and how tall they are and how much rigorous physical activity they do and what kinds of foods they consume etc. If a person consumes a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, then alot of fruits and vegetables are high in water content like watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple, cucumber, tomatoes, citrus fruits, etc. and one does not need to drink 6 to 8 glasses of water a day

He's not entirely correct here. Most people are chronically dehydrated. The important thing he's leavhing out here is that water intake must include electrolytes. Then the body uses the water at a cellular level. Without them, water mostly just passes through. So don't feel guilty, just drink enough water and add electrolytes to the water or a pinch of sea salt on the tongue after each glass.

He quite rightly, told me off & said ' The blood going through your arteries is like soup.' Do you want it to be thick soup or thin soup ? I now drink water, and just the occasional cup pf tea or coffee. I am a very fit 79 year old, I was getting up 2 or three times at at night to urinate. I now drink nothing after 6.30 p.m. Now I am getting only up only once to urinate. I hope this will help other older people.

I am still going to be drinking 8 cups of water a day even when I don't feel thirsty. I nearly passed out simply because I didn't have enough water in me. I rarely get thirsty, every time I waited to be thirsty to drink water I found myself drinking a cup or two which actually gave me side effects such as dizziness, lightheaded, short breathe, weakness and no appetite. Some doctor suggested I put myself on a water therapy of 8 glasses of water even if I didn't feel like drinking or else I will be drinking water by force through a drip. The more than 8 glasses of water has worked wonders for me. Feel free to do what works for you. Bodies are different.

I lift too. 10/27/21 was the first day of overactive bladder. I had been taking youtheory collagen several weeks plus lots of spinach. Lots of spinach plus collagen led to bladder sediment from hard water. I perform kegels in addition to lifting, and use vit b6/cranberry/magnesium to ease bladder symptoms. Cold also induces diuresis(canada). I also use non weighted ab training to relax the area around the bladder. Its a difficult dilemma as alberta has hard water, that coupled with oxalates in foods increases sediment in urine and kidney/bladder risk, so i use the above nutrients plus moderate hydration to moderate bladder issues.

@Noway it's a theory or, in fact, a postulate, until proven by facts or evidence. Anybody can claim anything here. So, when you make such a claim, how and why should anybody believe it?
It would take a very large amount of water to cause death through brain damage and organ failure. Most people would not even be able to physically intake so much water within a short time, well, unless perhaps their judgment and perception are screwed up by some drug abuse.
Sorry, but just based on what you write here, this sounds very much like a weird theory, if I want to say it diplomatically.
Apart from that, I'm well aware that overconsumption of water, like any overconsumption, is unhealthy, dangerous even. I never could understand that people actually believed this crap that drinking so much water should be necessary or healthy.

There's no rules what/when to do bc we're all different in every ways, it's stupid to follow only one rule for everyone. It really makes sense now :)

I beg to differ that drink only when you’re thirsty. The saying to drink 8 cups of water does not apply to everyone as size of cup also matters. What’s required is to multiply your weight in kg. with 0.04 to determine the amount of water one need to drink per day. Key is to keep well hydrated. Not only that, one must drink at least a cup every 2 hours as our Red Blood Cells will start dehydrating after 2 hrs to ensure our blood viscosity remained good to avoid thickening the blood that hamper good blood circulation.
