    Excerpts:
    Note for metric cats🐱: 1cup=236grams
The average Americano consumes 4.3 cups of water. This is extremely low.
Drinks with caffeine, sugar, and alcohol will actually worsen dehydration. The biggest mistake people make when it comes to fluids is thinking they are hydrated just because they are drinking a lot of liquids.
Electrolytes like sodium, potassium, and magnesium are essential for hydration. But you have to have them in the correct amounts to be effective.
The average person who exercises will need 2 to 3 liters of water per day (8-12cups). But, to stay hydrated, you need to add sea salt and other electrolytes to your water. You could also add lemon or apple cider vinegar to your water for additional benefits
    Thank you Dr Berg! 🐱👍🏿

It keeps your brain active and I've read that it decreases the risk of serious diseases like heart diseases, brain diseases etc. So drinking coffee is beneficial as long as it's not excessive.

@@NYCStateofMind7 Hey thanks so much! So basically, I combine intermittent fasting with the Keto Diet.
So I do a 23hr fast everyday, absolutely No carbs, i.e Pasta, Bread, Rice etc. With a portion of meat (about the size of your palm) with half a plate of veg. (Green Veg) Sprouts, broccoli cucumber, or a non starchy veg. I always make sure to drink a massive cup of water before and after each meal too. I maybe throw in a handful of Macadamia or pecan nuts too from time to time aswell.
Ensure that each meal is considered carefully and is nutrient dence. Check your Macros and what you need on a daily basis (everyone is different ey)
It is quite hard at first to break off from the carbs, But the more you do it. The easier it becomes as you become more fat adapted. The clear mind, the energy, is fantastic. Hey and the more you realise and educate yourself with just how much rubbish really is in modern food. The easier it to avoid it.
Allow your body to adjust and do it gradually, be nice to your body and your body will be nice to you.
And remember, To get something you've never had before, you have to do something you've never done before. Stick at it and all the best, friend!

Thanks for the calm delivery of simple, healthy advice, Dr. Berg. I grew up without healthy examples. I noticed a decent lowering of my blood pressure and overall health after adding more seltzer to my diet lately. I know the carbonation isn't as healthy as still water, but it is an improvement from where I was. I try to drink a bubbly water 1-for-1 for any other beverage. And then I drink water before bed, once in the middle of the night, and first thing when I wake up. I grew up drinking sugary soft drinks first thing in the morning! That was insanely hard to kick when friends started noticing how much soda I drank. I now have a diet soda perhaps once a month to once a quarter. I can't even stomach sodas or sweets now really. It makes me feel dehydrated and nauseous just thinking about it.

Great Dr Berg, I learnt through my studies and practice from some great nutritional mentors like yourself. One key bit of information on hydration is to understand that everyone is different in size. So a good rule of thumb, while tried and proven, is to drink 30 mls of water for every kilo of body weight. More if hot weather or exercising. This has worked really well for me and my clients as it does not leave you dehydrated or over hydrated. Drinking too much water shifts chemistry and depletes essential electrolytes.

    THREE SIPS WHEN DRINKNG WATER
Our beloved Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallaam, advised us about drinking water in 3 sips over 1440 years ago The purpose of taking three sips of water whilst sitting is:
    1) The first sip goes to the kidney, bladder, ovaries, prostate, in order to hydrate the body and rid it of toxins.
    2) The second sip goes to the liver, spleen, intestines, pancreas in order to create moisture in the body.
    3) The third sip goes to lungs, heart, and salivary glands to aid digestion, circulation and breathing.
When standing and drinking, the water instead goes to the knees and other joints in the body, thus creating arthritis

1:12 What happens when you consume things that are caffeinated like soft drinks, coffee, some teas and diet soda: Caffeine acts like a diuretic. Anything diuretic creates more dehydration. Also anything with glucose whether it's alcoholic beverage, coffee, soft drink, juice, is also diuretic. Glucose also locks up fluids as you drink them.
3:32 If you really want to be hydrated you have to pay attention to your electrolyte ratios. Sodium, potassium and magnesium are needed to create hydration. You need twice as much potassium as you have sodium. The amount of sodium is not nearly as important as these ratios.
6:00 The more water you drink the more salt you should crave because drinking a lot of plain water will deplete your electrolytes to a certain degree. So forcing yourself to drink a lot of water (like a gallon a day) without any salt creates a condition called hyponatremia which is a condition where you have a deficiency of sodium in your blood which is very dangerous.
6:29 What hydrates someone is not just water. It's a balance of these electrolytes that go in the cell that help you retain the fluid in the correct amount.
6:47 In order to correct the problem of dehydration you need to consume:
    • A good amount of fluids
    • A good amount of sea salt
    • A good amount of other electrolytes
6:59 The average person that does exercise to some degree should be consuming 2 to 3 liters (8 to 12 cups) of ACTUAL water, not these others things like coffee/tea/alcohol.
7:22 If you're prone to kidney stones and are on ketogenic diet, make sure that your urine is not supersaturated, you can prevent kidney stones even if you're prone to kidney stones.
7:35 Add the sea salt and other electrolytes to the water you drink. Maybe also add some lemon, apple cider vinegar, so you can have the volume of water you really need as well as the real hydration that you need.
    Thank you Dr. Berg

I had lost about 40lbs (50 presently) on Keto in about 4 months. It was coming off fast. However, I was giving a presentation 1.5 years ago on Zoom and collapsed in the last 2 minutes of my 30 minute discussion while standing up. It was as if i just zoned out, I told the audience "I dont feel so good" and that's all I remember. I was on the floor for 20 minutes until the EMT and a nurse from down the street arrived. I went to the ER then and 4 other subsequent times always shaking with high BP. I was supposed to be on my CPAP machine but they failed to send a part, so I thought I was ok without it for a month. I have never gotten a straight answer from the medical community as to what was wrong. The ER visits always came back with glowing reports from a wide range of tests that I attributed to the Keto. A1c was 5 (was 6.4 before Keto). My bloodwork was very good, but anything connected with my adrenals was way off (aldosterone, renin, ACTH). As off today, the only thing I can determine (and now, the specialists agree) is that my SALT intake was too low.

Most are under the illusion that health is something that you can fix. Health is life, it is in every decision we make about our bodies, the food and liquids we consume, but also the information we choose to consume, the things we encounter in our lives. Each and every person is a one of a kind. Each needs slightly different things depending on what they consume. That leaves a lot of variables.
Yes, we are similar in that most things will effect most people a certain way, like diet and nutrition, but everyone of us is slightly different. Therefore, there can be no one cure. It is a process and a balance. Dr. Berg and practitioners like him are trying to give you the right information to help you realize what you need and help you find your balance. However only you can make it happen 😊
We need 3 main things to survive: Air, food and WATER! It's really a no brainer yet we constantly ignor it.
Health is in every moment, every decision, we choose what to eat, drink or do in our lives and the state of our health is the outcome of those choices.

This info has helped us so much in the treatment of sick tortoises, we definitely going to NOT use Dextrose / Glucose Nutrient / electrolytes baths anymore for dehydration, I was never happy about Glucose / Dextrose because of Endotoxemia in compromised digestive tract cases, but this makes me even more unhappy about them. thank you so much for your great videos

For an active male that exercises daily and drinks approx. 3ltrs of water a day and has a balanced diet. Is there a safe amount of sodium that can be added to my daily water intake that will not cause any long term cardio issues? From a young age we are taught that salt is bad, so my diet is fairly low in salt. Now I'm even doubting drinking water adequately! Thank you 🙏

Doctor. For "your friends In Europe" as you say (by the way, except for the U.S., the metric system is implemented everywhere in the world, including your northerly neighbors)., please please please, be right when converting your units. Fluids are measured not by weight (grams) but by liquid volume units i.e., litres, centilitres and millilitres. To make it short, one cup is 250ml of fluid.
