  • The Axial SCX10III Early Bronco is HERE! I didn't think I'd want another Bronco already, but I do! The look of this RTR is absolutely fantastic. The attention to detail is great and definitely should get a few looks out on the trail.

I love the ride height. There is plenty of clearance for taking it out on the trails and flexing the drive train to the max. I love it and the engine. Being a 5.0 modular gives it the perfect restomod persona. This is a cool ass truck.

It seems like the spring collar is not at the highest position possible on the front shocks. Did you try to lower it as much as possible from there? I did that on my JL to make it lower. Maxed the front, and adjusted the rear to be level (if maxed the rear it had saggy butt syndrome with a battery in)

Comparing it to the ‘66, ‘69, ‘72, ‘73, ‘74, ‘77, and ‘77 occupying space in my driveway, I’d say it’s a little too square in most places. it’s darn close though! It’s certainly a hodgepodge of several years, but hey, what bronco isn’t??? And I’m soooo glad they made a Coyote-style engine cover instead of just leaving the LS in! Also, glad it covers the servo as well. The running footage looks amazing!! Can’t wait for the running video! Keep up the good work!!!

After seeing this I had to have one of these. My other crawler is a 2021 Bronco TRX4 so this makes a cool compliment to that. I have to say that out of the box this truck was not a good performer. As everyone said, the COG is way too high and with the heavy body this crawled just OK and was pretty unstable when just running around. I made the well-known mod to move the lower shock mount down to the link mount and that helped. Then I swapped the springs with the Axial 13mm x 70 'medium' green springs (AXI233008). This really cleaned up the handling and crawling. Seems like they did not compensate for the heavier body when they spec'd the kit with the straight axles. Finally I upgraded to Proline BFG KM3 Predator tires and kept the cool slot mag stock wheels. They absolutely nailed the body with incredible detail and realism, but they missed on the chassis tuning and tire choice. Now this goes as well as it looks!

I need to get it to some trails or scale courses to have some fun on! I'm building a 1:1 '68 Bronco as well so the body definitely helped sell it. Reminds me a lot of the TFL Racing Bronco.

lol..hmm maybe aqua or teal but certainly not cobalt... I'm pretty sure cobalt blue is much darker and bluer. Im sorry, i had to do it.

It’s fine, we can call it whatever we want, but it’s a near perfect match to Tamiya’s Cobalt, hence why I call it that!

Awesome review, as always. Great looking rig. Still liking the SCX10.3 Jeeps better though. Thanks, Matt.

I put a mattle wrestler in there at axial fest and he fit great, closer to 7 inches. I wonder why they went with the size. Curious how all that comes about. I will get one for sure. I wanted to try a scx10iii I just did not want the jeep with portals.

A 7” driver would be 4 feet tall in real life in this truck. You’ll want to supersize him!

@@scalebuildersguild well he fit pretty good. Neca makes 8 inch john nada from they live that would be a good one. Will have get it and test I guess.

This truck is awesome. The engine is a coyote engine! I would really like a running video.

The wheels are very nice 👌 and the tires look more capable than the Nitro trail grapplers.

I like that it’s a normal straight axle but man I just can’t get into the body… at all.

Hi Matt, I have the opportunity to get this Early Bronco body and inner fenders. I have the Base Camp and was wondering if this Early Bronco would be a good body choice for the Base camp with Vanquish Falkens? Thank you, Matt

Not sure it will fit as the early Bronco had the forward mounted transmision, not the one from the BaseCamp. Thanks for watching!
