I love the ride height. There is plenty of clearance for taking it out on the trails and flexing the drive train to the max. I love it and the engine. Being a 5.0 modular gives it the perfect restomod persona. This is a cool ass truck.
I mounted the shocks to the link mount with some longer screws instead of the shock mount on the axles, it lowers the truck quite nicely without having to change the shocks.
No Actually.. Thanks God it's not another Jeep.. lmao Well I love this rig and I would love to have one. The straight axles are AWESOME. Love them WAY better than the portals. THAT interior looks amazing as well. Now the Price? THAT I don't like so much. Nice overview Matt
For what you get it's not that much on price honestly. The trx4 retails at 499.99. The parts you would swap to upgrade the trx4 would put the price over the 10.3
Matt, keep the 100mm shocks but install softer springs to allow the suspension to droop about 50%. Also, when you find a proper size driver please let us know where you find it.
It seems like the spring collar is not at the highest position possible on the front shocks. Did you try to lower it as much as possible from there? I did that on my JL to make it lower. Maxed the front, and adjusted the rear to be level (if maxed the rear it had saggy butt syndrome with a battery in)
Awesome looking truck. The only panhard issue I had with my JLU was at the axle side. Ended up picking up a treal housing. Hoping someone comes up w some aluminum straight axle housings soon. Thanks for another great review matt!
Wow it looks sharp!!! Love the detail! Comparing it to the ‘66, ‘69, ‘72, ‘73, ‘74, ‘77, and ‘77 occupying space in my driveway, I’d say it’s a little too square in most places. it’s darn close though! It’s certainly a hodgepodge of several years, but hey, what bronco isn’t??? And I’m soooo glad they made a Coyote-style engine cover instead of just leaving the LS in! Also, glad it covers the servo as well. The running footage looks amazing!! Can’t wait for the running video! Keep up the good work!!!
I’m happy to see more Fords, because I’m tired of Jeeps and Toyotas. I think this should’ve had locking hubs on the front to be period correct, but that’s my opinion.
After seeing this I had to have one of these. My other crawler is a 2021 Bronco TRX4 so this makes a cool compliment to that. I have to say that out of the box this truck was not a good performer. As everyone said, the COG is way too high and with the heavy body this crawled just OK and was pretty unstable when just running around. I made the well-known mod to move the lower shock mount down to the link mount and that helped. Then I swapped the springs with the Axial 13mm x 70 'medium' green springs (AXI233008). This really cleaned up the handling and crawling. Seems like they did not compensate for the heavier body when they spec'd the kit with the straight axles. Finally I upgraded to Proline BFG KM3 Predator tires and kept the cool slot mag stock wheels. They absolutely nailed the body with incredible detail and realism, but they missed on the chassis tuning and tire choice. Now this goes as well as it looks!
YES, another Ford lol Think its time for a new body on my SCX10 II, loving all the moulded bits and should help keep the lexan noise down. Axial have done a nice job with that one...
I can confirm I am the one out there saying “Not another Ford!” I’d much prefer a scx10.3 with straight axles and a new 2021 powerwagon body. But that’s just me I guess
@@allmightygreatone1048 yeah I’ve put a hard Land Rover body on my scx10ii but it would still be cool to have an alternative to fords ,Chevys and jeeps
Very nice idea. I too would like a hard body on my crawlers. I am new to the crawling hobby. You certainly have the skills to build your desired machine.
Well after this review, and a few others, I bought one of these as my first 1/10th scale crawler and it is a lot of fun, even in my backyard. I need to get it to some trails or scale courses to have some fun on! I'm building a 1:1 '68 Bronco as well so the body definitely helped sell it. But the straight axles, offset front diff, and wheels helped sell it too! I'm going to have to paint a body up to match my full scale one as well. Keep up the great work Matt!
I am not a collector. I buy stuff , smash the box and then full send the toy over a fire pit. BUT I want to get one of these and keep it in the box perfect condition. It’s that kinda gorgeous.
Man that thing looks awesome! Axial nailed this one out of the park! Probably one of their best so far!👌😎👍im with you on the straight axles! I prefer straight axles before portals any day!
Hey Matt, I can see the recess for doors, a hardtop, and a hood with the hinge kit so you can destroy yours cutting it out. I'm challenging your insight 😜
I'm really really really considering this... I love my enduro and I usually go for budget builds (never owned any other rtr and trx4 is out of my league) but this... this is tempting. The only reason I hesitate is the sheer size of it. Hmmmm...
You could build a scale version of big Oly. Just make door skins and a wing. Also make it two wheel drive to match the original and to make Joshes head explode.
I think you can just pull your "Dremel" out and cut the hood (instead of knife) to see the engine. We know how you love to do that. LOL It'll look fine when you buff it out. I sure would like to see an early Blazer body for that too. Thank you for uploading the video.
Nice video... I agree about the shocks. I would also raise the front and rear bumpers and maybe try to move them in just a bit to help with the approach angles.
Hey Matt, as a lover all things scale, can you talk to Rich T about getting rid of the damn red diff covers? It's such a beautiful truck. Then you have those horrible covers. Has there ever been a real vehicle with red covers? Asking for a friend... My rant is over. Thanks for the great content as always!

Blame Ford for approving the license on this monstrosity. Axial has to present the body for final approval. Some young idiot at Ford was like “oh something old, who cares get me more tide pods.”
I love the new body, however, why not a new iteration of the 1969 Chevy Blazer? Axial has discontinued that RTR and it was one of my favourite axial bodies... why not bring back a new more scale version of any early ChevyC10 or Blazer? Definitely too many Jeeps and now we are getting quite a few Fords... Common Axial. Excellent video as always from SBG, thanks!
If they do the oj's getaway car model of body (don't know what else to call it) I'd be all over one, not keen on the slab sided look that someone forgot the doors on. Although it's growing on me especially in that colour

Some the best looking stock rtr wheels I’ve seen in a very long time
I mounted the shocks to the link mount with some longer screws instead of the shock mount on the axles, it lowers the truck quite nicely without having to change the shocks.
I really hope they release it as a kit! As the body and all the parts costs a small fortune.
