- The Axial SCX10III is an entirely new vehicle from the ground up! Designed to attack the trails with style, and the options to back it up, especially if you like Jeeps. Don't call it a comeback, Axial's been here for years!
In this extremely detailed review and first run, I take a look at all the new features, some minor issues, and give you my personal opinion on the latest and greatest from Axial Racing.
Stay tuned, as I have a TON more content coming on this truck, which might be the best of 2020.

Great info on the new truck! Axial is stepping up their game and it shows. Can not wait to see the build series of it.👍👍👍👍👍
Great looking truck! As for the two speed, I love mine. I really only use it if I need just that little bit more wheel speed to make it up a hill but the biggest plus is putting it in second gear to go from one spot to another. It allows me to run the motor at a very low rpm while still moving along at a decent pace and it makes my small battery pack last SO much longer!
Now it’s clear! This will be definitely my first Axial! It looks awesome! Thanks for the video Matt! 👍😊
You bet!
Ich wusste es 😜. 🍅😂
Tilo Langer Jetzt hast du mich! Wenigstens bin ich dann keine Tomate mehr! 😂😂👍
I'm actualy jealous you did not start with one
It's not an army helmet in the umg 10. It actually is a German firefighter or THW helmet. THW means Technisches Hilfswerk. Basically a emergency force in case of flooding or storms etc. These forces use unimogs.
Well done, I have always been an RTR kinda guy - more interested in crawling than building, but this very well may be my first build. Great video - excited to see axial step up and give traxxas and redcat a run for their money. The competition for super scale between these companies is benefiting all of us - who knows whats next!
2:02 If I didn't know I was watching an RC video, I would have thought this photo was a REAL Jeep!
Fantastic video of a fabulous kit!
FINALLY offset pumpkin from Axial on the scx10! I love everything about this kit. The body is so amazing. I can't wait.
AWESOME! Love your review of what looks like to be a great new product from Axial! I am looking forward to your exhaustive detailed series of build videos.
Dude, you are always so thorough. Nice job on the build, I may have to pick one of these kits up. 👍🏻
I have always wanted to build a R/C kit. I've always been a fan of Axial and this segment of the radio control hobby. I honestly think this should be my first kit! Thank you for all you do and have a wonderful and safe day!👍😎👍
Very cool!
Looking forward to the build series. This kit looks great! Not that I need another rig, but it's not about need, it's about want! You really need to add yours and Josh's heads to your merch store. Man would I love to have a scale rig with you two in it. :)
This is the way lexan bodies need to be done . Rigid scale realism’s and hide those body clips ! 👍👍
I love the hiding of clips but they should have devised some kind of latch system instead of hidden clips. You have to remove bodies a lot and I've been thinking of swapping to magnets but doubt they would stay on during hard rolls.
They don't do this on performance vehicles because it makes it way too top heavy.
I like a happy medium between performance and scale looks.
Dude, i seriously thought you was jazzin us. Must be why the other scx based stuff is in a pretty generous sale. Great info. Great truck, so far. Great job as always! Love the shirt.
You had me at laser cut body .. and the rest of the kit looks awesome too!
When I can finally save enough for the kit, I will be following along w/your build vids as I assemble mine. Thank you for the great video.
Cool! Thanks for watching!
Merci super video
Now the long wait to get my hands on one
Looking forward for the build video 👍👍👍
Very cool. I haven't bought a kit since the SCX-10 and this is exciting me
Even tho you took a dig at the ascender, still gave this vid a like. I love my ascender, just because its out of date, and it needs a sway bar to keep from twisting off the rock, and its such a goofy looking rendition of a blazer( man we have come a long way)
You did a awesome job with the paint job, sweet! Looks like a great truck!
I can’t god damn wait man this thing looks like they listened to all the cralwerson improvements and so forth . Can’t wait
Thanks for the review
Will definitely watch the build video.
Thank you for the info, Matthew. If you paint inside the body with Tamiya PS-55 flat clear first, any paint will stick. I've used all kinds of paint from hardware and automotive stores with great results The Pro-line paint will stick too. : )
Awesome work Matt, super stoked you got to premiere the new SCX3
Me too!
There is a reason you got one and you didn't disappoint! Can't wait for the build vids and I was like WTF the driver looks just like you lol!
This is the rc I have been waiting for I cant wait to try a build it
Nailed it... Axial with the new rig and your review video, great work
I’ve been eagerly awaiting this since November when I heard a little rumor. I may have to pick this one up
Extremely lucky man😊 Great release video Matt! Looking forward to the build videos to come.
You and me both!
ABOUT TIME(that's not yelling, just excitement. Lol) Axial releases a rig that has features. A rig with a 2-speed, remote lockable diffs(yes, I know the 10.3 don't have it), Dig and one or more of the these features makes trailing more fun.
Now portals , though I love them...they do spoil you.
Thank you for the awesome review Matt. I shared this video with some group's.
I like the body, I like the whole truck. As I still prefer scale build I will wait for non-portal axle option. Well done Axial team.
You always make simple paint jobs look awesome!
Thank you very much!
Hi Matt, rc perfection gets way closer man, it might entice me to get my first official 🤫axial rig. It’s bloody awesome looking, there’s actually nothing to dislike about it. I loved the colour scheme you used, it’s perfect looking on the JK. 😎👍👍👍
Good morning from Israe.l This my favorite video of yours! I have this vehicle in its kit version and this video convinced me to buy it. As usual comes with a lot of energy and is very fascinating. Amazing and reliable car, I'm a policeman... Full time job, I don't have much time to drive... But when I have free time, I enjoy every moment... My son also has an Axial. scx 10 2 ford 55
So impressed with my Capra that I knew Axial is definitely headed in the right direction, especially the new plastic, that I really had zero hesitation in pre ordering. Turns out this will be my first Jeep build, not that I don't like Jeep, just ... yeah everyone has one, this one though finally has enough detail to please me from the manufacturer.
Really looking forward to building mine as I follow along with your upcoming build vids.
Wery nice surprise!!!
Nice rewiev!
Thanks for sharing!
thank you for the in depth look. i would call it reactionary more than i would innovative, but just the fact that they've improved the quality of the parts is enough for me. there will be fewer things to purchase just for the purpose of putting together a strong foundation to work with.
Outstanding video! Very well done... I’m sure your build videos will be as well.
Thank you kindly!
A little bit of this, a little bit of that and a KIT!!! Nice and wow!
Cool! Great informational video. I just bought the RTR version for my first R/C surface vehicle since my Team Associated RC10 back in the 80's! Been doing airplanes lately. 6 new ones since this past March and today, my damned neighbor let me run his older SCX10I on a course in his yard. I went home and hit the Buy It button! This is getting ridiculous!! LOL
Nicely done Matt. Hope to see you soon.
I hope so too Randall! Thanks for shooting a great promo video. You guys nailed it!
Molded inner fender wheels are very nice, plus the cutouts for the rocks lights are very cool
Very well designed, and VERY happy it's a kit!!!
We agree!
Wow that looks beautiful and awesome rig thanks for the vid.
Great 👍 now I’ve got to find a spot to build this one as I probably won’t ever get back into my house after preordering this You Enabler!!!
I think the two speed will come in handy for driving up steep dirt hills that require lots of wheel speed
Great review Matt.
I really like the what you have done to the body. Definitely considering this one.
Thanks!
I can’t wait for the build video/s of this.
There goes my tax return for a preorder on this truck, I'm glad to see that offset front axle, and am glad to see it as a kit first, though once I get mine I'll dye those diff covers black, the red just looks off, lol
6:30 Thank you. You are a scholar & a gentleman.
This Jeep looks sick. I wish I could build that kit. It would be my first ever rock crawler. Keep up the great videos Matt
Thanks 👍
@@scalebuildersguild it would actually be my first nice rc vehicle
NICE its sick caint wait to get ahold of one and the jeep body looks just as sick great job
I love Axial RC (I have a 1st gen SCX10) but for my next purchase I've been considering the Traxxas TRX4 kit which for a little less money includes a 4-channel TX, RX, waterproof ESC, motor, and 4 servos. The only thing missing is a body.
Great video, Matt! 34 minutes felt like 10..... (thumbs up)
Awesome! Thank you!
I want all the uo dates to this ride I cant wait this has got to be one of the best rcs out their
I love the adjustable chassis rails. Doesn't leave a huge overhang in the rear chassis like my trx4 when shortening the wheel base.
It looks like Axial hit a home run if I get one the Jeep body will be history because I’m just not a new model Jeep fan. Great video and review
I like the bags of parts instead of trees to hunt and search
This is what I'm waiting for:) solid AXIAL fan here Matt:) good job bro!!!
I wanted the video to keep going, I’m sold on this truck and I just bought a trail truck last Friday
I need to save up money for this it looks awesome I really love the transmission
Incredible video. This is going to be a great rig.
Great review as always
Dang! That’s a killer looking platform.
Axial killed it! No prob with another Jeep for me since I have a 1:1 JLUR & have long waited for this. As you say "LS swap the world", dig it 😜
你好!SCX10 NO1
Woah, did I just see an fj45 half-track on that shelf in the background? That is cool, I would love to know where you got that. This video was great as well. Can’t wait for it to come out.
Scratch built. There’s a couple videos on it here.
Cool, I will have to check those out.
Soon as the rtr comes out I'll be getting my first axial
The only thing that is stopping me from saying "I want one," is the portal axles. I'll be watching to see how that situation evolves. This kit has all the features I wish my Ascender had. Well done Horizon / Axial.
I want to build a scale truck and this looks like the one to have sure it was hard to keep it a secret when it a new toy great review can't wait to see the build something to at least get mind of this crazyness that's going on so stay save keep the videos coming
Awesome truck and video. Probably one of your best. Information and video top notch. 👏👍👏🍺
Thanks 👍
Love your dry sense of humor man.
Looks amazing. I'm still rocking an og honcho.
Awesome. Can’t wait to order mine
I would like to see a switchable front overdrive instead of the two speed transmission. I am really tempted to order one. I probably will but involved in two other builds at the moment. Great video. Well done.
Great video my friend 👍😀 Can't wait be able buy one!! Even if have to easy pay on Tower 🤤😉
The thanks goes all to you for putting out these great informative videos and sharing all the hands on information you have. Im trying to decide what my next kit is going to be. I've done a SCX10.2 builders kit, capra kit, Ryft kit, and I'm stuck trying to decide between the JL kit or the Phoenix kit.
The Phoenix is the better of these two choices, but you pay for that.
I just traded my scx10-2 for a trx4 sport. I wanted to keep the axial but I really wanted portal axels. Thank you axial for reading my mind, I will most definitely but one of these.
Jake C you could have got rc4wd portals for the ar44 axles
Just when I finished my scx10 with capra axles! This is awesome though
Great Review, thank you.
Very nice, the weight should keep it planted nicely to the ground. Thats one I will buy in the future. I have a SCX10ll that I need to build. So many projects, so little time!!
Great job on release
Wow, huge improvement over my scx10ii.
I did not catch the capra bug I will be preordering the 10 3
No parts trees! Wow! Great video bud!
When in seen the video it looked like real jeeps until I notice the front cover for the axle was Red real cool video I had to look at the video twice
So glad they are offering as a kit without electronics. I hate rtrs as i end up pulling all the electronics before I even run them, then typically take them 100% apart and rebuild them as i think thats half the fun, plus then when I do tear downs for maintenence and cleaning I know how everything goes back together. There are so many RC's Ive wanted over the years but never bought simply because they were never offered as a electronics-less kit...
I was working on my axial yeti when you were talking about how this kit has all the plastics precut from the trees. And I died a little inside as I looked at all the spots on my truck where you can clearly see where the part was cut from the tree.
Interesting rig.i hope to get my hands on one soon.can't wait to see what the Canadian price will be.over all i am very impressed with the rig.
I dig it I think I will end up having to pick this truck up eventually. I do wish the Jeep body was a detailed 80's body
I think they did well pricing it to compete with the TRX4 Sport Kit considering that the TRX4 Sport Kit is $280 and includes wheels, usable tires😀, and unlicensed body. My thoughts are if you’d take the TRX4 Sport Unassembled Kit and add a licensed body, 2speed and dig option (not avail), full interior, wheel wells, beadlocks instead of glue wheels, you’d be over $400 for sure. I built the TRX4 Sport Kit and love it, but I’m now considering upgrading the body and getting an interior too, so really out of the box if you want a great value (and if the plastics are Capra quality) they’ve hit a home run with this. As another aside I’m building an Element Kit currently and while I like it I’ve upgraded the front shock tower and panhard to STRC aluminum, pivot balls to Samix metal and had to buy a body and wheels, so if this SCX10 III had come out earlier I’d be better served to get that over the Element.
Great review. Thank you man. Still doing some research before i decide on which one.. still checking out the trx4 and the asscender
Don’t bother with the Ascender, they are discontinued.
Thank you for letting me know. Makes it a bit easier now
love the vid! best channel I've found so far for scale crawler info!! #subbed
Thanks 👍
Awesome awesome awesome.... now to find out release date for Australia. Or order from the states.
Cheers mate 👍
Coming from a fellow JL owner, this is a promising looking rig.
Effin' awesome. The bar is being raised again. Now they just need a portal third axle for the 6x6. -"Angry" Dave
Hi nieuw here, like what i see.....i like to start whiff a scale model so keep following you 👍
Just got my axial builders kit today!
Awesome review! I'm totally sold!
Glad to hear it!
Thank you for that excellent and well inform video, A+++
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@scalebuildersguild Always do from Montréal 😉
Just bought 3 new RC trucks this year if I buy another I think my wife will leave me! Awesome truck will have to get one next year haha!
The more I look at it the more I want one, the best kit to date in my opinion, Traxxas is going to come up with something soon
