Great video! All links needed for 3- or 4-link are included. It's a 40% underdrive to the rear wheels. I found a small flat blade screwdriver is the easiest way to move the selector level for the underdrive
Underdrive is still achieving overdrive 😁 but I get the advantage of adjusting the rear ratio. I had to check the math just in case, I was happy to see it was almost bang on 40%
I still watched & appreciate your release video. . ... remember, it's your sparkly, bubbly personality that addicts us to watching your videos. lol You always well inform us of ALL details, good & bad. Great job.
I think this will be an awesome addition to the fleet. I love the fact of a straight axle build and the adjustability an upgrades I see in the future for this is going amazing. Axial definitely didn't disappoint on this one.
I dont see the value, but I am certainly no expert. For what i do, the vanquish rtr is a great mix of value and performance. Of coarse, i havent driven, nor can I afford either (disability). Im more of a dreamer/tirekicker!
I think axial knocked it out of the park with this release. I'm looking forward to getting one. Axial definitely needs to to stay on this path of rc's. Thanks for a great review josh.
Probably the most interesting axial to me right now, I like that there is no body, tires or even wheels but maybe would've preferred portal axles. Waiting to hear how well the overdrive switching works while driving
Axial hit it out of the park with this one! The price is a little steep for a kit but still comparable to the cost of piecing one together with chassis, axles, trans, and links.
Factory flat railed cheater chassis I dig it and if carbon fiber chassis rails are released for it I'm all in. This is the first axial kit in long time I'm excited about
Dude my rock pirate interceptor build was $250. NO: -skid plate -links -drive shafts -axles (LOADED) -hardware -transmission -AND OVER OR UNDERDRIVE -front bumpers -rear bumpers -INSTRUCTIONS..for some that’s very much appreciated. -this thing for dollar smokes any flat rail build. And I’ll put money it will roll easy with my rockpirate. Mine is scx10ii based. And this rig other than tranny which there’s “3gear” should have a respectable lower weight. Awesome idea and backed with customer service reputation so forth. I’d still just buy the phoenix RTR and couple servos😂. Thanks for the news!
Its a good start. I'd rather see dig than selectable OD, preferably front and rear dig like the Losi LCC. I am anxious to see if Element will answer with a new offering using their new forward mount/laydown trans and hopefully new high pinion axles.
Wondering how many we will see at Rocky Mountain Regional, out crawling around, and Maybe in a Comp ? Not too bad on price, and I like it offered as a slider, I'll have to see it in person 1st, but who knows Maybe there is another Axial in my future. 🤔
Thank you axial for recognizing where the market is going and listening to customers. This is exactly what I've been searching for, great to have another option to look at
@@Axial32have you ever built a custom lcg rig? If you did you'd see the value in that $429 price tag. I got one to compare to my gspeed build... it's a better kit for way less money and fully engineered. But you can trail run it no problem.
Great looking build with all the newest fearures! Nice to see Axial release a more competitive kit. I like that it leaves the option of body and wheel/tires up to the builder (always a very personal choice) but would like to see it come in a little bit cheaper, maybe $399? Going to be fun to see where this goes! 👍
Pretty cool looking rig. For my self I am going to get the new vanquish over this, simply since i do not have a vanquish rig. Since you are good friends with the guys at axial, tell them they should re-release the Betty body!!!🤘🤘🤘
I've seen the pictures of the axle mount I honestly think it's ugly and I see it as a problem with hanging up but the selectable over drive is something I need to try lol
A positive direction for Axial. You will never create a build kit that satisfies everyone's personal preferences but they did a great job of creating a starting point for some and a leap forward for others. I don't quite understand the transmission aspect but maybe that will bring the overdrive shift into the mainstream.
Really great to see. A good sign of adoption and the versatility is really cool. Interesting they went with so much overdrive but maybe due to the weight distribution and overall potential weight. A lot of performance value in the package and seems like a friendly intro to LCG realm. Very nice.
Would like to see your pick of all custom parts this kits is pulling together in one box.. Your choice for axles, rails, transmission.. add up those cost verse what you get here. Pros cons of fully custom and one stop shop
Id love to see a 4WS kit from the factory. This seems like it screams for a 4WS option and I never want to spend like 100+ dollars on another front axle! Just give me one from the factory!!!
Well now Josh and Matt only have to piece together 2 trucks each for the Rockies. Awsome idea to bring people who aren't "makers or fabrs" to the sport.
Comp rigs to the masses, yeah.... your excitement is about the same as mine. I'm surprised it didn't come with a half chopped up power wagon body and some scale hyrax tires lol. Oh well, good on them I can see this still being well received
Great vid Josh! Thanks for the in depth look. Two impressive releases in as many days. Would be great to see a continued resurgence in performance oriented and comp capable rigs. I hope we see that carry over in the 2.2 scene as well!
Just built mine today. Instructions are sub par. Vanquish phoenix is so much more complicated but sooooo much easier to build. I think of ikea when I built my pro....
This is great for the guys that wanted something new or getting into comps. Everyone changes out all the stuff to the stuff axial has put into this. With axial not including a body or wheels and tires is because Everyone complained about this body or that so they said don't yourself then.
Looks really good for the price! Sorry I’m late to watch but I did watch the livestream with Rich as the guest. I hope it does come in a small box to fit in the neighborhood cluster. I hate porch pirates!!
Great video Josh. I really can’t see this outperforming the Phoenix RTR so is it really worth that price tag in comparison? I guess we will all see at some point.
I really like it, but I'm not paying that for a kit, I'll wait until the price drops a little. Almost as much as a built, rtr Capra when they came out.
How does the cliffhanger body sit on this chassis? I have a cliffhanger body still in the pgk that I was considering building a comp chassis for, this seems like a simple all in one box chassis.
Not thrilled by the zero or 40% overdrive. 30% OD is my desired max. Probably will wait to see the upgrades. Great that there are no body/tires/wheels or electronics included.
I was happy to get one early to peek at. I’ll get a production version and drive it. The shocks feel good, time will tell. They have a really long shaft for the amount of stroke which is interesting.
I know I'll get roasted from the comp guys, but if I'm building a capable comp crawler with name brand boutique parts I expect to pay for the craftsmanship, etc but from an established big name rc making them mass produced a slider chassis shouldn't be near the price of the custom one off guys IMO, change my mind

Was pretty fascinating
That maid is getting fired now, lol.
It must be the chosen one!
Lmao
That's an orb 🤣
The tires touch because those tires are FIVE INCHES TALL
These clearly say 4.75” right on the side…
Think of them as scale representations of 4.75 tires. That scale being 1.05/1. Or would that be 1.05/1/10th?

Happy to see I wasn’t alone in thinking the transmission removal was odd. Not a huge deal, just odd. Great video Josh!
Yeah, it fell a little into the designed in CAD without fully thinking the usability thru trap that we’ve seen many times.
I think the price is crazy for it just being a kit slider .
Youre not the only one. At that price i expected more. No carbonfiber, bunch of plastics. 429...
Can get a vanquish rtr for that!
The price really isn't that bad I couldn't build a slider for what this is being sold at
I dont see the value, but I am certainly no expert. For what i do, the vanquish rtr is a great mix of value and performance. Of coarse, i havent driven, nor can I afford either (disability). Im more of a dreamer/tirekicker!

At 6:03 what is that falling from the ceiling, a feather? lol
Yeah, I was wondering what too! And it landed perfectly on the bumper!
Congrats to Axial for upping their game, will likely be getting one. Would've been nice to include a body, though.

Um, definitely tempted... great job Josh.

Could you remove one of the overdrive/underdrive gears to make a dig function?
With this new kit, do you think they will drop the 10.2 Raw Builders Kit? I really hope not.
They killed it with this one, and it will push other big players to do something similar hopefully

I like it. I think I may actually get one. Axial gave us all a proper release hahahahaha.
I think a cliffhanger would be perfect.
Not sold yet lets see if they can keep coming up with new ideas
I do like the axles, and the low slung transmission seems nice. But 429 for an axial kit with nothing but the chassis? That's a little much.
No its not
Looks like a great platform, nice job!
I paid $350 just for my chassis, not including having to buy an entire TRX4 Sport kit. I can't wait to build this one.

4ws or portal in the rear.
Wow, I was considering one until I heard the price...
Well now Josh and Matt only have to piece together 2 trucks each for the Rockies. Awsome idea to bring people who aren't "makers or fabrs" to the sport.
I wonder if this will strictly be a kit only truck, or if they will offer an RTR version in a few months. Or even a pre-built roller.
It’s a great question since Axial has done fewer and fewer kits.
Comp rigs to the masses, yeah.... your excitement is about the same as mine. I'm surprised it didn't come with a half chopped up power wagon body and some scale hyrax tires lol. Oh well, good on them I can see this still being well received
Great video! I love the "subtle" Vanquish name placement during this Axial review. 🤣
Sorrca 2023 height is measured from bottom of body or slider to top of roofline. So if the bottom of slider adds 1/4” it can be class 2 compliant
I measured as per SORRCA rules. Axial is aware of the height issue, the told me before it arrived.
@@HarleyDesignsInc so even measuring from the bottom of the slider to top of the pro body it is still 4.0”?

Just built mine today. Instructions are sub par. Vanquish phoenix is so much more complicated but sooooo much easier to build. I think of ikea when I built my pro....
So, this will not work in class one right? What mods would need to be done?
Too bad Vanquish released a better truck yesterday for a lot less money.
My thought exactly, good luck with this one axial. Vanquish is a far better platform.
@@royrodgers3296 for the axial price plus the extra $500+ you’d have to put into it to start to be competitive vs the vanquish rtr they’re crazy.
@@The_RC_Guru yup! They should’ve came in at $329. No wheels tires or body? Gonna be hard pressed over a vanquish kit or rtr
I see it as more pats options. There are definitely better choices but still. Fortunately I just started building with a vs410 chassis.

Vanquish for me, sorry axial pro chassis.
I like it, but it's about a year late for me. I spent way too much money building comp truck last year.
Definitely higher price than expected, I'll wait to see how it goes on the rocks before I jump on this one
Can you fit 2.2 tires on the scx10 pro?
It seems RC is also going back to its roots with the kits that you still need to purchase everything extra
Just got mine ordered

So would a 40% rear underdrive be the same as a 60% front overdrive?
No, it’s still just 40% overdrive. The Underdrive stipulation really doesn’t change anything. It just means the rear axle is lowering the ratio.
VANQUISH WINS
I know what I want for my birthday!🎉
Is it a kit or a preput together roller?
He did say kit but his come as a roller, I did find that a little confusing as well
I get the effort but a gspeed truck if you want something like this or a vs4 10 platform and you won't be disappointed
I’ll take the vanquish kit or rtr over this any day
What fell from the ceiling at 6:03 it looks like a white light
I like to know how it is a roller? When it doesn't come with tires and wheels
I said roller once at the beginning but say slider the rest.
looks ok...Josh must be looking at it and thinking wow my Vanquish stuff is much better sorted.
Looks like Axial made a truck for Robbs Resort. Wish I would have known that before I finished mine.
Say that three times fast 13:18 “those off shet shafts” 😂
Not really cool they didn’t let you drive it. Wondering what you think of the shocks?
I was happy to get one early to peek at. I’ll get a production version and drive it. The shocks feel good, time will tell. They have a really long shaft for the amount of stroke which is interesting.
Yeah a kit, lovely
Now you know why Wyatt wouldn’t let you take a picture of his rig at Nationals in Vegas 😂
Doesn't roller mean it would come with tires and wheels? Or does it just need axles on it?
I said roller once, slider the rest of the video.
@@HarleyDesignsInc oh, gotcha! I truly wasn't sure. Thanks for the clarification!

No, I received a preproduction sample that was pre-assembled. The actual product comes as a typical kit.
When is live stream today for this kit? Time?
6pm Pacific. I’ll have the event created shortly.
The worst thing about this rig is now I need to make space for it because, I want one…. or two. Lol

@@HarleyDesignsInc Yeah I get that that its cool. Hey, good review Josh and just so ya know. I'd go with the VP RTR over the Axial release. Cheers!
I thought it said it was a selectable underdrive. is underdrive legal for competition
It’s still illegal, the definition of overdrive is generally accepted as the percentage difference in ratio between the front and rear drive axles.
@@HarleyDesignsInc I figured so. Wondering if axial was trying to find a loophole🤣
metal flat rails make it C1 legal also..right?
No, the metal Frame rail rule is no longer in place but the angled skid makes it illegal for Class 1.
