Joe, I think you did an outstanding job of showing the versatility of both platforms. You sure can't say that one is absolutely better than the other. There is so much tuning, tires, tire footprint, and weight distribution that come into play. What this comes down to is we have some fantastic product being offered right now. The price is going down and the performance. Is going up. Thanks for your take on these kits!
Buddy, you're the most qualified person to talk about crawlers I've ever known. I got into crawling thanks to you and I want you to know you should be proud of yourself! This chanel is awesome and I've been and will be watching every video from the beginning until the end
I bought a Phoenix kit a while back and fully rebuilt and customized nearly every aspect of it for comp crawling. Basically built a better vrd pro before it even existed lol. I don't do competitions but I think it'd be at the class 2 level based on how scale I left it.
I think while the SCX10 Pro is going to have a lower CG and therefore be less likely to tip over I don't think it's enough to beat the ground clearance advantage on the VRD. If it were me I'd go VRD, and plan to eventually here when I have a month that fits it into the budget.
I questioned you on a live 1.5-2 months ago about building an LCG out of my phoenix, Ecto, or early bronco. You gave me your honest opinion and said you'd buy the scx10 Pro. So I buy the pro and build my LCG. 2 weeks later, Vanquish releases the Carbon. 😮 😅😅
You can do rear only under and I believe its like 14% over. Vs only over in front is like 21%. I wouldn't do both if you wanna side hill. Don't trust my numbers I don't do the math.
Great educational video!!! Now this is a worthy comparison of 2 competitors! They are both wonderful! To win you need to make the right choice and evaluate the section of the track and its relief!! Either VRD KB or SCX pro will do the rest for you!!! LIke!!!
Nice job on the side by side review. My buddy just finished his pro. Used a cab only Creep to finish it off. I'm currently building my class 3 Holmes powered and controlled G-Speed, TGH, Vanquish garbage barge, but I'll be going head to head in class 2 against his new pro. I like the VRD transmission, it's more like a divorced transfer case design. I might have to break down and buy the Vanquish. Bummer. Hah. Thanks for the help deciding. Have fun.
I think your qualifications for the rc industry is great . As a old dirt and clay racer nitro and electric. I converted to crawler and just watching your videos helped me build some of the most dominating rigs out there. Qualifications he he he . Come out to az for epic crawler fun.
Don't worry about qualifications joe.toure doing great.if someone doesn't feel you are qualified for suspension geometry like you said I'm sure it's bc they know how to figure it out themselves.
If you use Desert Lizards, you can damn near eliminate the leak issue they have by running them reservoir down. And your right, sprung weight is reduced. The coolest thing is the clearance it gives you when using internal springs. No more shock body/spring rub on full articulation. Been comping with my shocks upside down for years. Have fun.
is it ok to drive it from challenge to challenge or will this mess it up. if used on the trail a little then and then hit rocks is that ok for it. best at low speeds?@@ExocagedRC
Damn Professor PRO… you rocked that!! As far as shock telemetry goes… if someone is worried about that after this video tell them to buy a thick pair of glasses and a pocket protector… then jump on a plane ✈️ straight to China!! In my opinion.
Portals always has less to no torque twist especially trx4 axles that is why most big comp guys run Portals. Way less flip overs. Straight axles want to flip you on very vertical climbs. Thanks for the comparison, Joe and great job 👍
I think you’re more than qualified I think, having the hands on daily on different rigs and building custom rigs all the time you’re more than qualified an engineer tell you that it looks great on the computer, but they actually physically do it yourself they don’t do that
Dude, I take your advice and you've never steered me wrong.

Yes the RC world is just getting better. That’s the main thing here
DEFINITELY WELL SAID ✌🏼🤩👍🏼

HI JOE IMO YOUR DEFINITELY QUALIFIED SIR. THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR KNOLLAGE TAKE CARE EVERYONE HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT WEEK 🇬🇧🇺🇲🇨🇦🇦🇺✌🏼🤩👍🏼
Very informative, nothing wrong with how you described the pros and cons with both rigs.
Hey joe where did you get that carbon chassis for the pro? Cause that looks like a must have!!
I bought a Phoenix kit a while back and fully rebuilt and customized nearly every aspect of it for comp crawling. Basically built a better vrd pro before it even existed lol. I don't do competitions but I think it'd be at the class 2 level based on how scale I left it.
Joe, you are flippin killing it with these reviews!!🤯
Nice video, thing I'm curious about is turning angle comparison.
Good comparison. I like the scx10 pro overdrive selector option but I like the VRD protected spur... Too bad you can't have both lol
I think while the SCX10 Pro is going to have a lower CG and therefore be less likely to tip over I don't think it's enough to beat the ground clearance advantage on the VRD.

😅😅
Fantastic breakdown of these two trucks. Really appreciate the time you put into this comparison.
👍😁😎✌️ can you overdrive or underdrive a Trx4 and still maintain trail ability?
I do front only helps
You can do rear only under and I believe its like 14% over. Vs only over in front is like 21%. I wouldn't do both if you wanna side hill. Don't trust my numbers I don't do the math.
Would not do it. Performance or Trail. And 12% is enough....so just Front or Rear
Oh and it's simply done in the axles and I'd stick with trx4 brand gears. Cheap stuff I don't consider reliable
How good/bad is both? Over front & under rear? Asking for a friend 🤪😁
Great educational video!!! Now this is a worthy comparison of 2 competitors! They are both wonderful! To win you need to make the right choice and evaluate the section of the track and its relief!! Either VRD KB or SCX pro will do the rest for you!!! LIke!!!
Dude, you are definitely qualified to do this video. The side by side run video is awesome, too.
Nice job on the side by side review.

That was an excellent technical breakdown! Guess I will have to pick up one myself when I’m back from vacation and start developing :)
Definitely interested in the VRD Carbon.

Hello. What oil CTS do you have in VRD Shock ?
Joe what aftermarket metal drive shafts that will work with the scx10 pro? Will appreciate your response
Good morning. Up and at um some of us arent retireded😂
Yet!😂
I was lucky. Retired military, then 2 years later was Retired working at 49 yrs old in May 2015.
Don't worry about qualifications joe.toure doing great.if someone doesn't feel you are qualified for suspension geometry like you said I'm sure it's bc they know how to figure it out themselves.
good morning could you try to compare the Phoenix with the VRD Carbon thanks I would be very curious
You are very knowledgeable joe. Don’t be too afraid to speak on stuff.
What is better vrd or vs4 10 kit?
The correct side for torque twist depends on which side of the car you are driving... and i won't start on street side ...
do you think that is why the manual had the panhard on the other side vs how you have because of the torque twist?
That won’t correct torque twist. Not even a little.
Maybe try inverting the shocks for a lower cg (if the shock top is heavier of course.)
If you use Desert Lizards, you can damn near eliminate the leak issue they have by running them reservoir down.
And your right, sprung weight is reduced.
The coolest thing is the clearance it gives you when using internal springs. No more shock body/spring rub on full articulation.
Been comping with my shocks upside down for years.

can the carbon also work as a trail crawler too like the scx pro?
Yeah if you take out a lot of the OD/UD it has.
is it ok to drive it from challenge to challenge or will this mess it up. if used on the trail a little then and then hit rocks is that ok for it. best at low speeds?@@ExocagedRC

Now we need to see them go up against the redcat !
Great comparison! 👍
Would love to see compared to rc ascent
Awesome job 👍🏼
Thank you Sir
Cheeseburger advice. Love it
Can you do a udr video
👍😁
Anyone know if the vfd twin transmission kit fits the vrd? TIA 😁
no idea on that
