Love my VRD. Put the Brazin Frontline chassis on it with Holmes electronics, stubby conversion, etc, and it unlocked even greater potential. Genuinely enjoy the 10 Pro and VRD comparisons here. Great work man. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
The showdown we've been waiting for and as fair a comparison as one could wish. Definite pros and cons for each. Still leaning toward the VRD with straight axles, but now I need to see how the tweaks and upgrades pan out. Good stuff!
Nice comparison...they both have there place...I lean towards the VRD with other shocks and shock bands .Lets wait for the builders kit which is suppose to be significant cheaper than the axial.
My guess is the Builder's Kit will essentially be a C-channeled, disassembled Stance, so sintered gears throughout-- but if the pricetag is appropriately ~$250 then that's absolutely fine.
Put the knuckle weights on the front of the PRO to better match the V-nix and try it again, but this time try following the same lines even you you have to mark them? Throttle seems to be more happy on the PRO as well. Great entertainment though, I'll give you that!!!
Pro has much less gear reduction, so it's faster on a 1200 than a VRD on an 1800. I honestly think that same problem will rear it's head with straight-axled VRD.
@@bouncingnoise As long as there is more weight in the front, that would be ok. I like to use the forty for entering a climb or just hooking to pull up!
Great demonstration of the pros and cons, abilities and shortcomings of these top contenders. I’m a VRD owner and out on the rocks today (4th) my friend (also VRD) and I both commented on the VRD’s front end float. I think a little additional wheelbase would greatly benefit the VRD.
I feel like the 10 pro with a light weight trans t case combo would be a game changer. That heavy unit is too complex just do around 25/30 percent od all the time and call it a day imo.
Happy 4th of July everyone! Great video Mr C. I seen on vanquish live stream they gonna be releasing a vrd strait axle kit and a vs4-10 builders kit, that's cool. You could play whack-a-mole with that gopher lol.
Isn't it delightful to see Vanquish releasing a handful of new kits, when they haven't even finished the breath where they basically said "the market wants RTRs"? I call shenanigans.
@@CrawlerCanyon $289 for the VRD builders kit sounds pretty good to me! I’d bet these new kits have been in the works for a year or more. Awesome video, I’ve been looking forward to your comparison of these 2!
I have the Carbon and Pro….very good electronics in both…..both perform great. I opted to get the portal conversion axles for the Pro…initially I like the portals because it pretty much eliminated the torque twist.. Preliminary testing hasn’t proved them unworthy of the swap.. Now I see vanquish has come out with a VRD straight axle kit…oh boy …decisions decisions 😅
Man I wish I saw your videos before I bought my stance, would have got for the kit. With all the mods I did to it it handles great now. If vanquish comes out with a straight axel VRD I’d get that. Thanks for the videos, happy Independence Day
They just announced it and should be released after TOF. I would still buy the carbon kit and throw some straight axles on it and have an extra set of portals. The one they are releasing is a kit like the carbon but with all the crappy sintered one piece ring and pinion. Also the trans is a standard VFD in the new kit. You would spend almost $300 to upgrade to carbon spec trans and machined ring and pinion
@@simonkubacki9823 trucks of freedom. It’s a $650 gamble box with at least $899 of value in it. You don’t know what you are going to get but guaranteed to be worth at least $899. You get an RTR or a kit plus extras. Maybe wheels, aluminum axles housings, etc
@@andrewhead4365 neat, at the retail price of the straight axel kit I could also get a Tamiya bbx. This will be an Xmas purchase anyway, I just bought some blingy carbon hoops for my mountain bike, I have to pay those off first
I know test was "box stock" but vrd needs tuning, front unloads bad. anti squat, shorter spring or shock. With tuning the short falls it would quickly out do the 10pro where it was struggling or behind. On 10pro still like the idea of a featherweight, unloading that 1lb trans first thing lol. great test.
Great video.. I can tell it had to have been fun to do other than the Heat🥵… now we need to know… ok we now know what $429 gets us. Now - builders kit vs base camp ? I don’t know sounds good though.
Put the Class1 Megalythics on the VRD. I prefer class1 tires on portals. Would love to see your thoughts about it on video. Btw., the Stance has 23% Overdrive...big thanks for your vids 👍
i'd be cool to see the VRD with the stubby and BTA vs the PRO. I've been asking that same question about RC shocks...is it rocket science to make a shock that doesn't leak? The most complicated part of an RC? You need a new Geeg....outdoor cats are awesome...grew up with lots of them. Great episode!
You can get full clones from AE now, and we now have $30 portal weights as well. It's definitely helping the usual Vanquish-level investment into a rig.
very close matchup, but the VRD gives u more for the buck$, on the other hand, as u mentioned the after-market for the pro is way more available and cheap - not a clear choice at all given the terrain
10 PRO with a 2low gearbox could be something really interesting to see... IMO, Vanquish does more "unique" things. The PRO axles are the best part of the rig (and they arent even THAT good), and the rest of the parts can be replaced with anything else. Vanquish axles and gearboxes cant be replaced, you wont even think about doing so Are the PRO axles that different to just some AR44s or AR45s? I know the PRO ones are way better designed than the others (I watched all the build-a-long), but are they good enough to make you want to buy a PRO instead of building something custom with different Axial axles like AR44s or AR45s, for half the price? I guess im a "build whatever you need" guy
Thanks to AliExpress (and Amazon, here in the states) you can build an entire set of 10 Pro axles without ever touching an Axial part, grab a set of carbon rails for $20, and build yourself a "Pro" for probably less than the cost of a Pro kit. The same cannot be said of the VRD Carbon.
18:24 that was drivers difference. You were rammy with vrd and slower and smooth with pro and you took different lines with each loading the tires differently off the start
I make every effort to put them on the same line, but if the VRD tries to hang out as low on the ledge as the 10 Pro, that highside front tire is gonna unload and the rig is taking a tumble. A straight axle better on the sidehill than a portal? GASP! Who would have guessed? No one rig is the best at everything. But hey, I've only driven a hundred different rigs across that line, hundreds upon hundreds of times.
@CrawlerCanyon yaaaa, it's soooooo hard to get things exact and do comparisons exact for sure. Chalk lines or markers and same throttle is key but even then, rear ends will do different things sometimes and never perfect scenario. Still great comparison video. I have always wondered about these two head to head with as close to same builds as possible
Looks like the pro got almost double the attempts and equal amount of completion's overall. I challenge all the canyonareos to watch the vid a second time and grab a pad of paper and pen and keep track of what you feel is the number of attempts and number of completion's per contestant. See what you come up with in order to make the comparison. If you care to share your findings. Please do so...
I've never owned an American car-- but a good half of the cars I've ever owned were built here (my Subaru was built in Indiana.). So I don't have a dog in the Ford vs. Chevy fight. I just know that must have changed, because the neighbor was a die-hard Chevy man, nothing but bowties since his first car in high school, and now he drives a Ford F150. Chevy done done him wrong somehow.
Yeah, no wrong answers between these two. Both very capable.

So... the conclusion is you gotta have both👍😆
I have both and my results are very similar to your results. Well done and thank you for this comparison. Happy Fourth!

Perhaps a re-run on sub-par tyres instead of ‘cheat-mode’ pins would help amplify differences?
Honestly, I thought the VRD did better on Tusks than it did on pins.
Yes

just tuning the front unloading would greatly help or near eliminate it. stock is listed at 322mm long as heck already LOL
@@lastcreations8845 I’m not near my rig at the moment. But if 322 is the advertised wb, that just under 12 1/2 inches. I run several rigs at 13.
I agree the VRD feels so light I thought it was. The PRO feels like low weight rubbing rocks if you don't drive it different.
