- I removed all the paint on this antique sideboard and revealed the natural wood. Lots of work, but worth the effort. Amazing transformation.
Easy furniture flip or DIY project. Trash to treasure.

Even when kids were little & I'd paint furniture- they literally called it "ruining things" 🤣 Two things that don't lie---children & yoga pants
hahaha.
first we were painting everything, then we were painting everything partially, and finally now - we are just restoring beautiful natural wood. yay.
Thanks!
The world is far more beautiful after your restoration. I can’t imagine painting over such a lovely variety of wood.
whoever painted over that beautiful piece is a criminal!! beautiful restoration!!
Thank you!
I think the painting was cute... 😔. Not better than the original, but may be the old owner had different needs
The paintings were fine… they just should have picked _a different piece_ to paint like this lol
@@ParodiParadiseI mean, yeah. It’s unfortunate that there has to be a choice between the two. Hence, I guess, if you’re going to do painted furniture, use a base piece that’s made of really boring species of wood? (Also, apply a protective finish over the painting so that it stays nice.)
@@elsiehupp Yeah, I get your point. At least thr previous owner could keep some original wood intact and combine it with the painting.
That went from Alice in Wonderland weird to classy and gorgeous!
Haha. I like that. Thanks!
what the actual cheeseball circus hell was THAT
Oh come on Alice and wonderland would have been better that that ugly topiary!
Wow, Randy! It blows my mind why someone would paint over such gorgeous wood! So glad it stripped it and brought back it's amazing beauty! Fantastic job and absolutely gorgeous now! You should be very proud of yourself! 😊❤
Thank you for the kind words. It turned out better than I had hoped.
It went from looking like a carnival piece to a beautiful antique!
I think it is an improvement as well. Thanks!
Weren't those colors HIDEOUS??? 😂
Wow, I’m flabbergasted I can’t believe what was underneath all that paint.Such a magnificent piece of furniture and you brought it back to its former glory, so glad you left that beautiful wood showing. You did an awesome job… Well done 😍 👏👏👏
Thank you. I was actually surprised at what was underneath myself.
Beautiful.
Omg, the wood and original details were worthy of restoration. Good eye.
Thank you. I was surprised at the variety of woods on the piece.
That looks like a showroom piece showing a customer all the woods and then they choose the wood they want it made from for their home.
Wow. Thank you for the kind words.
I think you're correct, I've seen a chest of drawers recently with every drawer in a different wood. It had a stamp on the back designating it as a sales/exhibition piece.
agreed, one would have been able to choose which wood you wanted to order for the cabinet, I don't think you could have ordered it in different wood on the same piece though
@@Randyshufflesfurniture He or she is explaining the label.
There's no accounting for taste but covering those woods should be a no-brainer bad thing. Thanks for saving this unique piece, gorgeous.
I was surprised at what was under the paint. Thanks
Painting that beautiful piece of furniture with its multi gorgeous wood grain and pretty hardware is like putting carpet over hardwood floors. Well done ❤️
Well said. Thanks!
That is a beautiful piece of furniture its so hard to believe that someone would paint over such a work of art ,even thought whoever painted on it made a pretty painting on the doors but this piece is a very good find bravo ❤
Trends come and go. I am very happy with the outcome. Thanks
I happen to be one of those people who love different types of wood being highlighted in the same piece of furniture. This is one of the most amazing pieces I have seen ever!!! 😍❤🤩
Thank you so much! It is a unique piece.
That's is completely gorgeous, it's sad to think someone purposely painted over that beauty ... thankyou ... great job .
Thank you too!
Beautiful! It's such a joy to see someone respecting the original charm of a piece instead of painting it sage or navy right over the hinges and handles.❤
Thank you.
Great job!!! Someone really put a lot of work into that paint work, but alas it was past its prime!! I love all the different woods!! Such a beautiful piece of history 🤗
I think so too. Thanks for watching.
Wow. While I thought the paint was a cute idea probably at the time, but you brought this piece back to LIFE! BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you. I'm sure the person who painted it loved it.
Oh my goodness is that ever so gorgeous!! I’m so happy that you used the tung oil on it to emphasize the different woods. I could even see Birds Eye maple on it. Wise choice doing that. Well done. It’s a beautiful piece. I sure hope no one ever paints it again as it deserves to be shown just as is. ♥️♥️😊👍👍🌟
Thank you so much!
Beautiful piece. You did a fantastic job.
Sooo much better! I’m not against people painting furniture…but in this case, just love the natural wood look. Great job! 🦋
I totally agree! Thanks!
Sorry, I don't speak english, but you did an excelent work. Now, that furniture is alive again! Thank you to show us ... el don que te fue concedido para devolverle a la madera su belleza natural. Es un material tan noble, tanto así como tu trabajo. Felicitaciones!!! Cariños!
Thanks for watching!
Holy cow that’s gorgeous!!! So glad you kept the different wood !!❤😊
Thank you! Cheers!
Cant believe that was covered with paint, albeit an adorable scene, however, nothing compares to the original intention for the piece. Wow. Just wow.😊😊
Thank you!
When I Think of Tassels, My Mind Goes A Little Risque! Now If It's Green Tassels, Scarlett O'Hara or Carol Burnett come to Mind. ' I saw it in the Window and I just Had to Have it!' Good Job!
Hahaha. I remember that. Thanks for sharing.
What a relief to see the gorgeous wood again - great job!
Many thanks!
OMGOSH!! You did an exceptional job with this antique piece! It is absolutely gorgeous! You are amazing! I loved the video! Ty for sharing this restoration!
Thanks for watching!
Jay from Flipping Drawers uses a dental pick (professional metal one) to get those pesky small bits of paint out. Tedious, yes, but well worth it. Love that you embraced the different woods rather than trying to blend into an homogenous colour. Great job. Brought that lady back to her full glory.
Thanks for the tips!
Fancy painting over all that beautiful wood! That can now breathe again in all its glory.
I like it better too. Thanks
Stunning result showing off the different wood types!!!
Many thanks!
Love the final piece, all the natural wood grains, beautiful. We have a few antique pieces and we've left them natural, no paint. Very nice.
Thank you!
This project is absolutely GORGEOUS. Someone must’ve REALLY disliked the look of the multiple woods! I can appreciate how much work they put into the repaint, but it’s just sad that they found it necessary.
Thank you!
How wonderful to see that piece come back to life.
I thought so too. Thanks.
Thanks for giving this piece a new life!
Thanks!
I imagine that originally it was stained the same color. You brought out the beauty of the wood. Excellent job!
You are probably right. Thanks
Just gorgeous! Thank you for saving her! ❤
Thank you so much
My eyes popped a little when I saw what was under all that paint - that is an incredible piece and your restoration is beautiful!
At first I admit, I thought, even though I never like to see it, that whoever had painted it obviously had some artistic fun with it, but when you had it all restored all I could think was how could anyone bring themselves to paint over something so lovely! 👍🏻❤
Thanks for the comments.
Totally gorgeous!
Thanks!
Now that is an amazing job well done
Thank you!
So beautiful Randy! That piece is like, "Woo! Here I am in all my glorious nakedness!!" Nice work!
Thanks Holly!
Very cool result. The variety of wood grain is fascinating. Your video is paced well, just the right length.
Thanks for the comments!
Magnificent Restoration! Painting old furniture is a crime!
Thank you.
Wow truly a unique piece both before and after. Great job bringing it back to its originally glory!
Thank you very much!
Wow!! You totally rescued that 'damsel in distress'! How could anyone paint over those beautiful woods?!!! Thank you for freeing her. 🙂Howdy from your new subscriber in Texas! 🤠🤠
Thanks for watching!
I'm usually offended by painted antiques but that one did seem to have been painted to be special and loved by someone. But holy cow am i happy that you took it back to it's original look! What a gorgeous piece ❤ Highlighting the different woods was definitely a wise choice.
I try not to judge what other people do to pieces (I have certainly have had my own share of critics) but when I own a piece I try to give it a fresh look and a new life. Thanks.
Incredible Job!!!!!!!! It looks amazing!!!! Thank you for "saving" it!! ❤😊
Thank you. I appreciate the comments.
What an interesting piece- I don’t think I’ve ever seen one like it. I hope someone will appreciate your hard work and great judgment!
Thank you!
It’s criminal to paint a piece like this. Thanks for bringing it back to life
Agree!
Thanks
Thank you.
Wow, what a beautiful piece was hiding under the paint!! Great job on the restoration 🎉🎉
Thank you!
Great choice with the tongue oil finish. Showing the different woods was the only way ❤
Thank you. I like to try different finishes and I thought tung oil would highlight the woods.
You have done a beautiful job on this piece. Stunning.
Thank you so much 😀
When you showed the before and after pictures, I actually said out loud....Wooooowwwwww!!!!! That is an awesome piece and I agree wholeheartedly that showcasing all the different woods was the way to go. This is my first video of yours and I subbed. I am looking forward to other neat projects like this one!!
Thank you so much. Glad to have you on board!
Beautiful!! As a wood lover, thanks for bringing it back.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
WOW..what a masterpiece. You make me want to go look for old furniture now.
It's a lot of work, but well worth it. Thanks
Amazing workmanship and patience on your part beautiful finish we'll done.
Thank you very much!
So much better. That paint job was just an abomination of all that is in good taste. You revived that piece from the dead.
Thanks! I appreciate it.
I am so proud of you that you did not paint it that is such a beautiful piece awesome job ❤
I'm glad you like it
It looks like an Alice in Wonderland kind of piece. Someone must have cherished it painted. Newly decorated it must have been lovely.
You could almost hear that wood slurping up the oil when you poured it on.😊
You are right!
I love seeing a piece had a life.
Me too. Thanks.
Loved the video, so much better in its natural form
Yay! Thank you!
What an amazing result. Thank you for teaching us. 🌞Susie
Thanks so much 😊
I think this is a brilliant restoration. Using the little "note" you found inside to stain each section appropriately really set this beautiful piece off. What an amazing job!! Loved it!!
Thanks. I appreciate the comments.
I'll tell you right now, I'm 4 mins in and almost cried a little when you exposed the wood on top. It's gorgeous and I hope the rest is too. Looking forward to the maple so I gotta go watch the rest now 🎉
Thanks. I was a bit surprised myself with the quality of the woods under the paint.
Some people shouldn't be allowed near paint full stop. What a beautiful piece of furniture.
Thank you.
Wow! Absolutely stunning.
Thank you so much!
So glamorous! 🤩
Thank you so much.
Really makes me wonder if any part of the paint was original, Like that pretty cherry backboard. Makes me think of these beautiful bird cages (probably made for decor) that you can easily find pics of these days but have the most beautiful painted flowers on each side. And alot of them are from either the early 1900s, and even the late 1800s! art never really changed if you think about it. Its always been around. 😊
The painting quality does not reflect that it was original. Thanks for the comments.
It's sensational! How could someone cover that up with paint 😵💫 Beautiful restoration! 🎉 9:45
Thank you!
Gorgeous absolutely beautiful
Thank you!
Breathtaking treasure. Whoever painted it must have been crazy.
Thank you.
Wow! Its a stunning piece! Great work ❤
Thank you!
Thank you for rescuing it❤
Always!
So beautiful a restoration!!
Thank you very much!
Beautiful transformation
Thank you.
A lot of people are commenting about why people are painting over old wood. It was a very popular and common occurance not too long ago (still happening) to "modernize" old pieces. Antique funiture suffered a setback as they lost popularity & less people were buying them. (I am 70 years old - antiques were BIG in my 20s, 30s and 40s and I started seeing a decrease in interest as the craze for mid-century modern grew). So they got bought then painted to make them match the hottest colors at the time. There are youtubers out there now doing it to mid-century modern pieces. (Years ago they sold for peanuts at garage sales) Removing the old handles and replacing them with "modern" ones, painting them the latest colors - sad. 10 years from now, people will be buying those pieces on Facebook Market place or a thrift store and restoring them back to the original finish - minus all the great, original, really cool looking hardware!!
The thing with an antique piece is, when correctly refinished, it ends up looking better than the original finish and that is the kind of "update" it deserves.
So elegant after your skilled work
Thank you for the kind words.
Why would anyone paint this beautiful piece. Thank you for restoring it 😊
I think it looks better now as well. Thanks
Beautiful, but what a big job .
Yes it was, but worth it. Thanks!
Beautiful job this is a showroom piece.
Thank you!
exellent decision to use the tung oil. The different woods are stunning.
Thanks!
Just found you channel a few days ago.
Love your work that much i have watched all your videos.
Cant wait for your next one ❤❤❤
Thank you so much. I really appreciate the support.
Magnifique! The paint was hideous! Will never understand why anyone paints over wood furniture or walls!
Thanks!
Just beautiful! Great job.
Thank you.
Wow! Beautiful!
Thank you!
That is gorgeous!
Thanks!
What a beautiful piece.
It really is!
absolutely beautiful great job

Wow! Stunning
Thank you so much!
Great video, a job well worth doing, well done. Stewart, south west Australia.
Thanks for watching!
Stunning!
Thanks! I appreciate it.
Wow! I've seen a label like that before. So neat! You know exactly what you are working with. When chalk paint got popular a lot of people ruined great pieces for good furniture. I understand there are times when paint is the only option. But, not most of the time.
Thanks for the comments!
Awesome redo!!!
Thank you!
Wow! Great job!!
Thanks
So beautiful!
Thanks!
So beautiful 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you!
Wow. I did not see that coming. That is beautiful ❤
Thank you. I was especially happy with the bird's-eye maple.
