Finally, a video about restoration where furniture is really restored, and not just painted up under the guise of restoration
How about you not being so entitled and respecting everyone’s right to be creative as they wish and please?? These comments are really getting old 🙄
@@johannepoirier3327how about same to you your comments are really old
THANK YOU FOR NOT PAINTING OVER BEAUTIFUL WOOD, and keeping original hardware/pulls, MAGNIFICENT!
Thank you very much!
I love how you always do what my dad would call “a proper job”! You do it right every time, no corners cut! It’s a rarity today and so satisfying to watch!
This is the biggest reason I watch this. Otherwise, in my case, it would be a waste of my time. I enjoy this process immensely.
Thank you 😊
This was truly a labor of love. That poor piece looked like a truck ran over it. Needed so many repairs. Result is beautiful. Hope you enjoy it for many years.
I was thinking thrown off the back of the truck, or out of the upstairs window.
Yeah, I was thinking it looked like it was dropped off a porch or something. lol
Absolutely gorgeous. I love how you basically touched every inch of the piece, but never once lost the original feel it was meant to have.
🥰 thanks ☺️

❤another beautiful piece👏👍
Jay you proved to me again that you are the master. Such talent and attention to detail stands out. I love how you used the old ways to execute a repair instead of taking the easy way out. You really deserve a larger following than what you've got. The piece looks fantastic.
Wow, thank you!
Wow! Just wow! This piece was so broken, but you managed to make it look brand new again! I always enjoy watching you taking care of the back, the bottom and the inside of every piece! Much love from Greece!
Thank you so much 😀
I don't blame you one bit for wanting this for yourself! It's stunning!
It is not insane you are at almost 40K. You do awesome work and that number is going keep going up. And I love how you take care of the whole piece, inside and outside. It is completely refreshed.
Much appreciated
I love his attention to detail that he does. He makes his videos so inviting. Like what is he going to do to revitalize the project. To me he makes it look so easy. Take off paint or whatever, sand, top coat = masterpiece. I just love watching and rewatching his videos. Always amazed by him. The kitties are such a ➕. God bless.
You take an old piece from the garbage or from someone else you restore its life and you bring out the life it had before it and you make that life means something when you restore it. Because like people furniture also has life and is damaged by life and how it’s treated. Somehow I think there is a natural appreciation for all the work you do on the furniture, you pleat and repair and restore. Thank you very much for your videos, I only wish that I could on one of your pieces!
I am mind blown! To see how you took that broken piece of furniture and turned her into the magnificent beauty that you did is awe inspiring! Your attention to detail is fabulous! So happy that you used wax and let the wood shine through!
Agreed!
Sad lil broken down girl, and now look at how pretty she is❣️ I me WOWZERS, you work miracles Sir, the before pictures are just so sad❣️ Normal people wouldn't know where to start, but you jut went at her and , I mean, WOWZERS, She's the belle of the ball now, just beautiful, stunning in fact.
I wish you lived here so I could get one of your projects
I so agree with Teresa capturing my thoughts exactly. I love the grain in wood pieces and thank you sooo much for NOT painting it, as many do these days.
One thing I luv about you working on these amazing pieces is the fact you take the time to clean and sand the whole thing which many people don’t do,they put most of their effort on the exterior and forget the inside and the back and that drives me 😤🤯crazy. Thanks for doing the right thing it’s awesome watching you at work 👏👏👏😁🇦🇺
Once again I am so pleased that you and this damaged credenza crossed paths.
Love your attention to detail, and the fact you only waxed it 👍 plus your quiet way of going about your work.
Definitely a piece worth keeping, you have a good eye and a kind heart, you paid the owner something 👏👏👏
Thank you 🙏
Thank you for breathing new life into this unique piece. Obviously a labor of love!
Мастеру брависсимо!!! Ещё сто лет будет стоять и радовать хозяина! Сейчас из дерева мебель делают редко.
thank you !
Уважение мастеру за прекрасную, добротную работу. Браво.
I love the attention to detail. I wish there was a craftsman that could restore an old body as well as you restore a vintage piece of furniture. LOL
Wow! You really got the most out of that spare piece of oak. Beautiful restoration!
I just love how an old ugly piece of unhappy furniture can be given a new beautiful life to continue to be used again. Thank you for given this piece a new purpose.
My pleasure 😇
Настоящая сказка!!!
Браво!!! Браво!!! Браво!!!
С уважением, Светлана.
it is refreshing to see you take a holistic approach to your piece
Wow, you saw all the potential in that pile of wood, and also gave the lady something for it. I really appreciate your eye for quality and your kindness, and of course all your talents with restoring/refinishing! A truly lovely piece.
Thank you ☺️
That poor faded beauty was just hoping to find you. She's lovely once again! Thank you so much.
I so admire the pride that you take in your work. So wonderful to see. This piece is now beautiful and I liked how you left some parts dark. You have the hands of a craftsman and the eye of an artist. Be proud.
You are very kind Pamela. Thank you
I love the idea of black waxing the areas you couldn’t sand to spruce them up. Gives an amazing contrast to the natural wood.
Thank you. It’s not that I couldn’t sand it, it was a difficult to sand area but mainly I wanted some variety in colour.
It looks beautiful! I often wonder how people let such wonderful pieces get so damaged. Luckily you found it and had a vision for it.
🥰
When you’re done with a piece it seems like it feels content and loved.
As soon as I saw this I thought wow this is going to be a job, but I knew that you would make this piece beautiful again. I can understand why you wanted to keep it. It is absolutely gorgeous. Fantastic job.
Other restorers like to disassemble everything and then use new wood and all kids of power tools. I'impressed that you honor the original crafts and people who made this item.
Thanks ;-)
Yup! You made it beautiful! I'm glad you are keeping this one. It is stunning! Great job! 👍🏻👍🏻
I'm willing to bet that your home is full of lovely furniture that you've revitalized. Would you ever consider hosting a restoration challenge for your viewers? You have inspired so many people here I think it might be interesting to see what your subscribers come up with based on whatever theme you suggest.
Seeing this beautiful piece saved from the dump is so inspiring. It probably would have been a lot less work if you had painted it but SO glad you didn't. Always enjoy watching you work and seeing the outcome.
thank you
It’s almost breathtaking to see what you can do with an old piece of furniture. Congratulations on bringing your skills to this level.😮
Thank you so much 😀
Wow. What a transformation. I think most would have turned that into firewood, but you saw the beauty and potential in it. Your attention to detail sets you apart from many restorers. Congratulations on passing 40,000 subscribers. Love your videos.
Thank you very much!
I really admire the people who restore the antique or old things. It is not an easy job. What you are doing is saving the environment so we do not have to cut down the trees which will give the bad impact to our life. Thank you for doing such a great job. What you are doing is amazing. Keep on doing the great job !
Thank you Jaclyn ❤️
@@Flippingdrawers you are welcome. I always enjoy watching your video
Excellent restoration! Love the natural look and no paint!
To see that “old girl” come back to life made me happy. My parents’ old bedroom set is from same era, & I can’t seem to be able to get rid of it-too many memories, so it sits in basement! You give me inspiration to find someone who can do justice to these old pieces. Thank you for your attention to detail & craftsmanship.
My pleasure 😇
Absolutely gorgeous transformation…you really brought this one back from looking like firewood to something from an architectural magazine.
You’re very kind 🥰
Love when a piece is restored to its natural state. Love those handles. Beautiful.
Awesome!
I really appreciate this journey you take everyone on. You are fearless. Jumping into projects and learning as you go. Getting better every piece. Good job, brother. Keep up the great work. You are truly a unicorn!
You are very kind. Thank you Terry
Good to see the little samurai is back 😊
You NEVER disappoint! Another beautiful transformation. No matter if you are going to sell the piece or keep it for yourself, your attention to detail is mind blowing! You might be surprised that you’re closing in on 40K but I’m not. Your videos are amazing!😊
Thank you ☺️
There's nothing quite like the beauty of old wood.
You are amazing! I hope you took a picture of it and sent it to the lady that you bought it from so she could see the beauty that you restored! I am always thrilled with your attention to detail and taking care of every piece on the piece of furniture. Everything and every piece deserves to be loved and restored. Thank you for your fantastic video and I am so thankful that I found your channel! Take care, stay safe.
I did ;-) thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed it
Wow! I bought a piece exactly the same, about 40 years ago, when I was living in South Africa.. It had been restored by the store owner and it was always much admired by my visitors and I loved it. I had to sell my furniture when I moved over to the UK, sadly.
This is beautiful and so glad you didnt make it look brand new. Antiques are not brand new and therein lies their charm.
I love watching your channel.
Рисунок дерева подчёркнут великолепно!Вещь "ожила"!!!👍👍👍
At last, someone who takes the time to do the insides of the carcass & drawers, the back & underneath, thank you for your thorough attention to details!
You are so welcome!
Absolutely beautiful!! I love how you pay so much attention to the restoration of a piece of furniture rather than just a quick fix. You most definitely have a talent for this type of work. Looking forward to more of your videos.
Thank you 🙏 my last two videos are quite different. I tried carving but have several restorations to watch. Enjoy
Очень нравится смотреть как вы даёте второй шанс красивой мебели, стать очень красивой. Вы волшебник!
The amount of time you spend on each project, you must really love what you do.
yes I do ;-)
I can appreciate the beauty you saw beyond all the damage. So glad you kept it, this belongs nowhere else. Nice work
Thank you Gladys☺️
Your attention to detail is absolutely astonishing! I am mesmerized just watching you restore something so broken down and breathing new life into it. envious of this piece!
That's very kind. Thank you ;-)
Even though this video is a year old, I still have to leave a comment to say what a wonderful job you did. Beautiful.
Thank you! 😊
The piece is beautiful. My goodness the amount of work put in to it is incredible.
Thank you ☺️
@@Flippingdrawers how many hours would you say you have into this piece? Amazing work
I got my sister one of these sideboards 35 years ago, and just lightened it a few shades. She still has it in her sitting room. I must say I prefer the darker finish, and I wouldn't have put that back piece back on, but your attention to detail is excellent. I too use your 'old school' method of clamping pieces if my clamps are not long enough. Your calm voice is a joy to listen to, and a pleasure to watch you work. Well done for saving perfectly usable furniture - you just can't buy 'proper' furniture these days. Take care 🙂
This is beautiful restoration! I love the dark accents and the luscious color of the beeswaxed oak. Your old-school technique for clamping was awesome. Thanks for the always sharing your talent with us. 💕
🥰🙏 my pleasure
This piece is so beautiful! I can only imagine how the dear lady from whom you purchased it would feel if she could see it now! It has been given a whole new life. Wondering job!
Once again you have not disappointed. I so love how you have restored the beautiful character of this piece. It's looks even better then I had hoped for
Thank you !
With some, they are happy to just paint over the piece of furniture. They wouldn’t/couldn’t take on a restoration like this. You are a true craftsman. Beautiful job!
Thank you ☺️
If this shows up twice , I apologize.
I am mind blown! To see how you took that broken piece and turned her into the magnificent beauty that you did is awe inspiring! Your attention to detail is fabulous! So happy that you used wax and let the beauty of the wood shine through!
Thank you Teresa☺️ much appreciated
It was so nice of you to give the previous owner some money given the condition of this piece and knowing how much work you had ahead of you. You've certainly brought the poor old piece back to life. It really looks great now
Thanks Deb 😉
I was waiting for you to post another flip. What a beautiful restoration and a LOT OF WORK but you didn't disappoint. Impressive and so glad to see your channel is growing at a steady pace. Your work is worthy of more subscribers. I appreciate your calming voice and no distracting music! THANK YOU!
Thank you Toni☺️
I love that you sand the whole peice and wax the inside, back, and bottom. It makes everything feel complete.
Thank you ☺️
So beautiful! I'm glad the samurai is back. I'm so happy that you have all the new tools. And a convenient water source, makes life easier. You are growing so fast as a furniture restorer, I'm impressed.
Thank you Gail 🥰 have a lovely day
Whoa! First, I would be SO afraid to wash this old piece with water. I'm glad to know it can be done. Second...I'm SO glad you kept the original hardware. I've seen where you don't do that, so I'm glad you did. Thank you! Third..."seasonal movement of the wood..." Wow! I never thought about that! Fourth...Your "old school" method of "clamping" was brilliant! Wow! Leave it to our ancestors to know how to do things simply. Fifth...I LOVE how you cut out the old damaged part and replaced it with a new part. I would never think to do that. Sixth...it's so brilliant to use sawdust to blend with glue to fill in gaps. Seventh...when you made this video, you had 40K subscribers. Now you have 118k subscribers! Way to go!!! Ninth...You painted your original hardware. I don't have a problem with the original color. I think it adds an authentic "vibe" to the hardware. Last....I LOVE light wood. I love that you left it light, but at the same time, you added the black wax in the best places. The contrast with the light wood made it so much more interesting. The end result was BRILLIANT! I HOPE YOU DON'T HATE ALL MY COMMENTS. I CAN'T HELP MYSELF. I don't expect you to reply to all of them. Thank you.
Замечательная работа.
Мастеру респект.
The thoroughness of your work is extremely commendable. The piece is clean and fresh. There are a few I've seen who, though doing a lovely repair work, do not tend to the cleaning of the entire piece. When reconstructing it is one semi-cleaned piece on top of another. This is a beautiful piece and you did an absolutely lovely work.
Another fantastic transformation!! So glad you get to keep it -- it's stunning.
Thank you 😊
Awesome restoration. I particularly liked that you paid the furniture donor out of kindness.
Thank you
Oh my word ... what a beautiful finished piece... absolutely fantastic work 👏 👍 much respect for all you do ...
❤️
Jay you are the Samurai Warrior of restoration and makeover!!! It’s absolutely beautiful.
Thanks 💛
It’s absolutely amazing as always!
I know it’s not your main occasion but you are so good at it that maybe you should consider becoming a professional furniture restorer!
Thank you so much!!
I said it before...but I absolutely love the care and gentleness you use to bring these pieces back to life! Great looking piece. And I love the contrast of the two colors. Beautiful!
Okay, I've been watching your videos for awhile now and I have to say this is the one that impresses me the most! I love seeing you grow as a hobbyist by adding in full restoration! The replacement wedge, plugs, and choice of stain have made me want to subscribe to your channel all over again!! You're brilliant!
Oh wow, thanks ☺️
Jay you’re extremely talented and you are a very smart person and love your work on your furnitures . Each one are unique and very well done.
What a truly stunning transformation. Your attention to detail is inspiring.
🥰
I really like, that you care also for the less visible parts (inside, bottom, back). So the piece is not only repaired, but entirely refreshed! 😀👍
This is an amazing transformation. You truly have vision for restoration and the craftsmanship to make the vision a reality
Much appreciated ☺️
I used to like dark furniture , but you have changed my mind for the good.
Looks amazing
The work you put into it
Is mind blowing 🥰
I admire the effort and care you put into restoring each piece of furniture Jay. Many people, would look at that Cardenas and say it is impossible. It is lovely now and can feel happy sitting in your living room with photos or ornaments and living in a calm place until the cats move in.
Absolutely Stunning!! LOVED how you paid attention to the inside as well.
❤️
I admire your ability to see the beauty in otherwise neglected and discarded furniture and your obvious skills in repairing such items. Long may you flip drawers!!
lol thanks 😊
Wow! This is one of the most beautiful pieces I’ve seen restored! I am glad you are keeping it. What a transformation!
Thank you so much Lisa 🥰
Amazing job you certainly brought an old gal a new lease of life 👏👏👏👏
Your work never ceases to amaze me. I'd have took one look at this when you started and thought throw it out, it's only fit for firewood. Then you somehow manage to turn it into a magnificent piece of furniture that anybody should be proud to own.
THIS!!! Very talented Man is a class act. Just love watching him work on these beautiful.old pieces. He does not cut any corners, let things just be "ok" . He takes his work very seriously and has pride in himself and everything he touches. The tools??? Oh...absolutely beautiful tools make the work look effortless, but lets face it. He has all the skills! Awesome.
Simply lovely! I would be so happy to have a piece like that in my apartment. Really nice! I was also thinking how great it must be to have all your tools and equipment set up and ready whenever you need them. Congratulations on your workshop.
Thanks so much! 😊
Awesome result! It was so kind of you to pay the lady for the buffet even though she listed it for free on FB Marketplace. 🌻
Thank you ☺️
It's been such a pleasure watching you evolve with your work and channel. The piece is absolutely stunning! It's heartwarming that you paid the person when they didn't ask for it. I'm Looking forward to the next project. Be safe and well. Cheers :)
Thank you Asher🥰 that’s very kind
What a beautiful piece of furniture you have recaptured for another 100 years!
Thanks 😊
That is just lovely! Great job!
Every time I find one of your videos I haven't seen before I say "Oh.. this is my favorite".. Your dedication to quality is wonderful.. I truly enjoy watching you work.
Wow, thank you!🤗
Such a beautiful piece! The variations in the colors of the wood are one thing that makes this piece so unique. As usual, you handled every detail with such care. I'm glad you are keeping this one. Great job! 🙂👍
Thanks Holy👍
You are not only a craftsman of many trades , your eye for detail and perfectionism is a very rare gift . I'm halfway through your 15 videos and I'm in awe of your work ethic and capabilities. I have one hint for you which may help, it is when using paint stripper cover it with plastic kitchen wrap then wet newspaper to stop evaporation, makes good contact and the paper also stops it from blowing away. Kind Regards... Sharon from NZ
You are amazing!!! So glad I found your channel. Your love and appreciation for these furniture pieces is obvious. I too love them and so glad someone like you are bringing them back to life.
Thank you so much ☺️ welcome 🤗
My mom loves your videos, says she adores your attention to detail and how thorough you are. I love them too, very enjoyable and relaxing.
Thank you Josh. Glad you guys enjoy them
Yup, can't blame ya for keeping that one. I'd keep it too. Such a fabulous job again Jay. Brilliant result. You never cease to amaze me.
Thank you Emer ❤️
As usual, you have made art out of someone's trash. Beautiful.
I love the clamping idea. I'm going to use that.
That black wax nailed it - so nice you gave her 💷 even tho she was giving it away free! Gorgeous piece. 🤗
