Absolutely Stunning! It takes a real love and understanding of wood to restore its beauty! This is a magnificent piece---a real work of art! I think taking the small brush to stain the dovetailing on the drawers was a fine touch---and using the darker stain for contrast, making the details stand out was perfect! I'm glad I happened upon your channel!
There is no better thing to watch than the savage of an old piece of furniture receiving another life ,your work is breathtakingly beautiful I’ve absolutely loved watching the transformation well done . Scottish fan xx
This piece did not look like I thought it was going to, but it’s definitely distinctive and much much more beautiful than I could’ve ever hope to make it.
Hi Holly. I do like a good contrast, probably too much. 🤣 I know the drawer pulls are a little bit ‘odd’ but i really like the fact they are solid Oak and original so they deserved to stand out. 😀👍
U never use steel wool on oak AN u never put your hardware on till u finish the drawer front AN u finish the hardware before u put it on your stain was streaked always use a gel stain it goes on BETTER .
Job well done on a beautiful piece of solid furniture. I’m sure someone will be very happy to have this in their home. The contrast between the wood stains is lovely too. Lovely that your dog made an appearance 😊 so cute x
I love the dark, with the walnut colored stain. It really makes the grain of the drawers pop. As well as still being able to still see the grain with the dark stain, unlike with paint. It shows how gorgeous this piece truly is. You always do such a fab job and are so talented😊😊😊
David I really enjoyed this. You always seem to find the prettiest, most interesting pieces to work on! Thank you for sharing your hard work which is always impeccable! Enjoyed seeing Daisy!
Oh my gosh, you are going to be one of those people that make me run out of adjectives for how gorgeous your pieces are!! I absolutely love the contrast in this, and I love the wood grain. A very beautiful restoration, thank you for sharing!
Wonderful! So artistic! I was thinking "oh no, not dark, I like the mellow tan brown" but when I saw the reveal, I gasped with pleasure. It looks so classy!
I've watched all 3 videos and I am really enjoying your style of restoration. I subscribed and I'm looking forward to new content from you!! ❤ I love these old pieces that people don't appreciate anymore and you have given it a new beginning.
Hi, thank you so much for subscribing and your comments. I love these old pieces of furniture, they have so much character and the majority of the time they are manufactured beautifully with quality materials. 😀👍
Beautiful!! I remember my grandparents having a dressing table exactly the same as thus but with metal handles on the drawers. Thankyou for the memories.
Благодаря вам, шедевры минувших эпох будут радовать людей будущего. В предметах старины есть какое-то очарование, я бы сказала - душа. Обожаю старинные вещи. Вы молодец!
@@MayfieldRestorations thanks for letting me know about your upcoming video. I think this last one was very pretty, I just think it would present itself better in lighter stains.
Absolute amazing !! This Vanity Dresser is so beautiful and i like the two colors you being using and it makes this piece so chic !!! Real Craftsmanship !!!
Stunningly classic piece. I love the difference in the wood grain. Magnificent! I've watched so many videos about the painting of wood, but THIS ... reminds me of the natural beauty of wood. Wow!
Okay, can we say absolutely magnificent! Such a talent you have for taking ugliness and creating beauty. I give you 5 stars with gold rings. I am really impressed. Cheers
Hi Judith, unfortunately there were no makers marks anywhere on this piece as I always look for one before starting the restoration. I got this from a house clearance with a number of other pieces. It appeared the old man that had passed was a bit of a hoarder and his small house was full of lots of things including some lovey quality vintage furniture. 😀👍
Thank you for your response to my question. I sometimes watch U-Tube blogs about antiques found in the U.K. and France. Some pieces of furniture are linked to certain people or times in history. I find this information interesting and helpful to know what to look for if I'm looking around for different things. I find that the workmanship is much better in the older furniture than in the majority of newer furniture. Thank you for sharing your techniques and knowledge with us.
Well that was a gorgeous piece of oak furniture. I guess it’s personal preference but that OK it’s such beautiful marbling in it and it’s just was destroyed by that black stain. Very sad
New subscriber, I really like the finished result but I don't understand why beautiful oak has to be stained to look like something else? This really is not a criticism, I genuinely don't understand.
Hi Catherine, thanks for subscribing to my channel. In answer to your question I think it’s purely down to personal taste and the style of the specific piece of furniture. This is an Art Deco piece so not sure it would look right in the light Oak. 😀😀👍
Just beautiful & now it will live for many more years. I really like the restoration work you do, so much better than the shabby chic that is every where. 😊
Hi Bret. Wow, that’s a great compliment and very much appreciated. I love doing what I do and to hear it is appreciated makes that even better. Thanks again 😀👍👍👍
I agree. Absolutely Stunning. The contrast between the Ebonized Oak and the Golden Quarter Sawn Oak really highlights the design features of the piece.
Hi Sharon. I'm not sure whether you are watching a different video or not but I have't used any paint on this piece of furniture. Its done with spirit based stains in Walnut and Ebony. Its also one of my most viewed and liked videos so take from that what you will. Have a great day. 😀👍
I just found your channel and I am so glad I did! Amazing restoration. Most would have painted it but you brought it back to a gorgeous piece of work. Love seeing Daisy girl too! 😊

I said, ‘If that is solid oak, I will eat my hat!’ I didn’t have to eat my hat. 😂 It turned out amazing. Beautiful job.
Wow I'm so glad it wasn't painted over with pink ,blue or black !!! It's beautiful!
😂😀👍
I didn’t think I would like this piece with the contrast. But when finished I really did. It’s beautiful and looks very Art Deco.
Thanks very much 😀😀
Really appreciate the small details such as staining the dove tails and waxing the drawers. Beautiful.
Thanks so much Debbie 😊
I like people that actually restore antique furniture instead of "glaming it up" with paint and hardware.

Grand-tastic ! Great example of two tone finish without paint and still emphasizing the wonderful quarter sawn oak 👏
Thanks so much Rober 😀😀
Am-az-ing! I think this is what the original builder had in mind.

I agree with the earlier subscriber. Oak don't need extra stain . Well in my opinion. Top knotch job though
👍
Very very beautiful. For my personal taste I would rather have had it all the lighter stain.
I understand 👍
Your work is great, my personal attraction to the piece is the wood grain. The dark took much of that away, sadly, (to me :) Anyway, well done
Thank you! Cheers! 😀
That blows my mind how you transformed this!!

I love the desk. Nice work. But the stain doesn't do it for the piece. Can't say I like it. Walnut all the way.
Fair enough! 👍

The MUSIC makes it very hard to hear you talking.
This was one of my first video attempts and I’ve taken in board the feedback on the music. The volume is greatly reduced on my newer videos. 😀👍
The stain was too dark and covered the beauty of the wood grains. Sorry.
Ok 👍
I thought you were going to put the mirror back in😙
No matter, it turned out beautifully. Great job❤ 21:55
I think it’s beautiful
Too much sanding..took off the age of the oak..stain with the grain, not across. Should have stayed with the lighter stain..my opinion
🙄🙄
Excellent work. You've got a great eye for balancing color, saturation, and texture. Your top left drawer front looks like a Gustav Klimt painting.
