Jay at Flipping Drawers is amazing....so not surprised that you two are mates! Thank you both for stripping to the bare wood and bringing back the grain of each piece.
Hi Buddy. As you know, I’m not a huge fan of MCM but I actually loved the finished item too. I enjoyed doing this collaboration with you and even though it was a lot of work I’ll look forward to dreaming up our next challenge 😂😀👍👍👍
Flipping Drawers invited a bunch of us to show up to your place unannounced. See how he is? Can you put the kettle on? 😂 You both are so talented! Thank you for the content!
This piece started out as something I would have loved when I was a teenager. Somebody put in a lot of work decoupaging all that flowered paper on there, and the purple was just what my teen-aged self would have loved! That being said, you did a fantastic job breathing new life into this old piece. Great attention to detail. You have so much patience.
Hi Christine. This piece definitely had its place at one time in the past but it was crying out to be given a new look. I’m pleased you liked the end result 😀😀
Ok, I have to be honest. I laughed out loud when I saw the piece Jay picked for you. My first thought was, what are you going to do with that. I thought Jay’s dresser was bad. At the end you did an amazing job with it. Absolutely beautiful. Thanks to Jay I have a new channel to follow. 😊
Yay, nice to see you two talented furniture restorers coming together in challenge. I discovered you, David, after following Jay previously. I love both of your styles and your talents. Nice job; nice transformation!
I love that you two are friends, because I follow both of you already, and was delighted that you know each other and did this challenge. I hope you do many more in the future! Both of you had great outcomes! Love to Daisy!
I love Jay so much! And you two doing this to each other is hysterical! I've been your fan for a while now as well... and this only makes everything better. Great pieces, both of you!
So wonderful to see two of my favorite artists work their magic. David (and Daisy), this was incredible work. Thank you for sharing your talent with us!
You and Jay sure picked from the trash pile. I was astounded at the beautiful wood under that paint and paper. Bravo! Daisy had a very difficult time picking just the right cork. Hilarious!
Oh my gosh! This is beautiful! You and Jay really challenged each other and both of you came out with flying colors! I love this piece! You are very talented, and so is Jay. I would love to see a couple more of these. Take care!
Hideous to handsome! Like the piece you "gifted" Jay, this project defies description. Originally it looked like a good kindling source, except for the layers of paint and paper. (Wouldn't want to be breathing the fumes from that stuff.)These videos have been a real treat. I'm so glad you two found each other. Nothing like gifted craftsmen challenging each other in what they do best.
Hi Julie. Thanks so much. That piece I chose for Jay was a stinker but I think he almost got his own back with the purple piece I got 😂😂😂 So pleased you enjoyed the videos form both of us 😀😀
David, I've been a subscriber to both yours, and Jay's channels for quite a while now. I also subscribe to Ahti at AT Restorations. All three of you do excellent work, and I'm always excited to see the finished pieces. None of you disappoint!!! Maybe you could include Ahti on the next challenge. Thank you for all of your videos. They are all so GOOD!!!!
Hi Karen. Now that’s a compliment! I watch AT restorations and I have learnt so much from him as he is a trained restorer. To be likened to his work is amazing as I’ve never had any formal training and I’m always learning as I go. Thank you so much 😀😀
You guys might also want to point out that joining RUclips itself is also free. Folks may be watching without the app, thinking it costs also. I love YT! Truly, it is very nice seeing real people and chatting with other viewers and learning from it. No ‘influencers’ for me, tho. I joined both of your channels pretty much at the same time, love the competition. It’s inspiring seeing you guys do what you love! I also watch Dashner Designs from the US and Modern Makeovers (if you like mid century and newer, he’s your guy). I will say that if this piece had been originally painted or particle board, the paint and flowers would have been good. But it was sinful to do that to this! Beautiful!❤
That’s a great point. I just assumed that people would know RUclips is free to use (unless you opt for premium) but I guess not everyone thinks that. I’ll take on your advice in my next video and explain how YT works for those that may not know. Thanks again for taking the time to watch and pass on your suggestion, it’s much appreciated 😀😀👍
Fantastic collab! Enjoyed both videos so much. Even though that was a super ugly piece, I think your pick for Jay was worse! Lol! So much fun watching both videos though and I cant believe how nice that purple monstrosity turned out! Wow! Loved watching these and thank you so much for all the hard work that goes into putting these on RUclips for us to enjoy! I hope you two do more challenges in the future! Great to see Daisy too!😄👍🐕
Hi Jennifer. What a great comment and I totally agree that Jay had a much worse piece than me. I felt a little but guilty as I was watching the premiere. I knew I’d chosen a challenging piece but didn’t realise it was quite that bad. 😂😂👍
Aaah, I'm so happy the pair of you have become friends 🥰 What an amazing transformation from the purple turtle 🌻🌹Great job Dave 😉 Hello Daisy Darling 🐕🤗💕
Hahaha hi Rochelle. I always look forward to your comments. Thanks so much, I’ve loved doing this with Jay and we’re like two old gossips on the phone every day now. 😂😂😂😂 Daisy says hi 😀❤️

I love watching Jay and am so glad you did this collaboration with him. Your channel is now on my favorite list and i can’t wait to see your next project. You both did an astounding job. Well beyond anything I imagined.

Hi Doris. So pleased you found us both and like the stuff we do. It’s a pleasure doing something you love and it’s very satisfying to hear how you enjoy our work 😀😀
This challenge is so much fun. Love the idea. You and Jay are in my the top 5 of my favorite artisans list. You both are meticulous, and, you both have excellent design and color sense. The walnut stain was perfect for the piece. At first I expected you to change the hardware, but I see at the end how perfect the hardware shape is for the total shape of the piece. The gold paint for the hardware matches a gold fleck in the stained wood. Overall it looks fabulous.
Beautiful result! All of that paint and flower power that you scraped away…the depth of wood grain that you brought out…amazing! Loved this Impossible Restoration challenge.
Well, you would never think it was such a beautiful flowery purple thing before. You did a fantastic job. Now it looks like someone does love it. Great job, looks beautiful.
Update: Wow! You did an awesome job! I am an admirer of your work. Going to catch up on your other projects. Jay made a great recommendation with your channel! Have an awesome day!
This was so much fun! Thank you for the laugh! Thank you for the Daisy fix! No one will ever know what disgraceful things were done to that dresser. It looks better than new. About three years ago when I was still working, I told my clients how much I loved watching RUclips videos, and I cannot believe how many asked me how much it cost! We seniors tend to think of the word subscription as having a fee attached. I have asked many people who were trying to grow their channels to mention that it was free. No one ever did! I'm glad you did. I cannot wait to see what you guys dig up for each other next!💜💜💜

Night and day! Wow, truly a stunning restoration, David! Thanks for all your great tips and info along the way, too. Great video, awesome final result!
Wow, you definitely smashed it as Jay said! You turned it into an unbelievably beautiful piece! Daisy had a lot to say about you working to hard an not being able to play😊. Love your videos so awesome!
I love to see old wood furniture restored to it's original beauty, although I think this probably looks better than it did when it was new. I subscribed and I'll be looking for more of your beautiful transformations. This was a fun challenge with you and Jay. You are both so talented. It just goes to show that solid wood furniture can be fixed and refinished, not painted.
David, your attention to detail every single time just boggles my mind..that piece turned out absolutely gorgeous..talk about a sows ear into a silk purse...always a big smooch to the Marvelous Daisy!!

The question is, who has the better assistant? David’s ever playful Daisy or Jay’s loving cat? It could be a draw.
The cat that visits Jay doesn’t belong to him, it’s his neighbor’s.
Haha I’d have to say Daisy but then I am slightly biased 😂😂😂
