I am so happy to see you on youtube for two reasons, you are based in Sweden and we have a strong tradition in high quality wood furnitures and secondly, you are starting up fresh without a fully equipped workshop, which inspires me. Good job!
Gorgeous..To be Honest, at times I love the concept of restorating old furniture piece with modern twist. The new legs gave the table a whole new look. Beautiful!!! Love all the challenge videos…
I love the way the inlay turned out. I think you could have created some sort of base for the legs and turned the underside of the table into a chessboard. The top could just sit in the base and you’d be able to flip it over and play chess, but i think you did amazing considering it was basically a pile of scrap wood when you found it.
1940's card table probably used for bridge parties where multiple small tables were needed. There are examples on line. I love that you literally rescued the pieces from the side of the road.
The surface of the table definitely looks like oak. I don't know about the USA, but in Europe there were carpenters specialised in producing centre pieces such as your star, but also they made the more intricate flower motifs out of 4 or 5 types of wood. They were sold in bundles to be used by cabinetmakers.
I think you did a wonderful job! Personally, I did like those wheels. They were quirky and if sprayed with a brass colour, they could look really cool. But who am I to judge. Sanding a kitchen table and oiling it, is about the extent of my experience…and painting an old Ikea shelf with chalk paint 🫣. BTW, the way you treated, filled and painted the inlay compass makes it now look really three-dimensional. You gave it back the trompe l’oeil effect it possibly used to have. Bravo!
I think it's okay to replace the legs since the old ones were just rotting away. It's not like this is going in a museum, the alternative would have been compost, so you saved it. Looks beautiful.
I agree with others that the table is from the 1930s or '40s, however, your update is very successful and it takes the splayed legs well. Had you changed the coved edging to something square, it would be hard to say this isn't MCM. Nice job!
The large portions are definitely oak veneer. The dark part of the star looks like walnut, anyone's guess what the lighter wood is. Nice job bringing it back to a useful and lovely life. Kia kaha and aroha, from Aotearoa.
That table is not Mid-Century, but could be from the 70’s in a more traditional style. I think you found a gem. The table top with the star sunburnt is beautiful. Great end table. Nice job. Carol from California
You guys doing this challenge are amazing, every one a masterpiece! I have been so inspired by your collective work that I uploaded my first ever video this week!!
Late entry. Do so enjoy the end result. "One man's trash is another man's treasure". I am a big fan of preconditionig before staining, my old pieces. Liked the design choices, like the midcentury vibe. Ciao
Love the inlay and the metal feet. Please consider painting them gold and adding another feature to your beautiful table. Thanks for joining the challenge.
Of all of the various types of furniture restorations, I enjoy watching restoration projects that take a piece of 'junk' and turning it into a beautiful and useful piece of furniture as you did in this video.
I was brought here by the MCM Challenge. I am super impressed by the work everyone has done. I found your channel and other peoples channels because of it. Love your work. A great effort and a beautiful outcome.
The table is beautiful but it would have been nice to have seen the base get a bit of love too. I know ‘who sees the underside?’, but given the wood was so dry it could use some oil or wax. Not a negative, because I think you did a great job
@delux68 Either you're a shut-in or you live in an HOA somewhere, because anyone else in America can drive around for less than an hour and find random junk piles of furniture discards lying around. It's _almost unbelievable_ that you don't know this.
Nice save! Some pre-stain wood conditioners would have made the the thirsty wood happy and your stain wood have gone on smoother. I wish you'd have used those cool casters.
Looks like oak. And maybe Palisander, or Teak venier, for the dark parts, and Birch for the lighter ones. Could be used as a serving table. With a good set of Whisky glasses and crystal bottle...it would fit very well into a Gentlemans club...
Fascinating. I have seen similar tables to this and I have been told that they are actually older than MCM, most likely from the 1930's to early 40's. Your legs made the transition!
Not everyone knows the value of real wood. My friend, just last week tried to take antique “brown” wood ( that is how the people at Restore referred to it) and they would not accept it as it doesn’t sell! I was appalled! I treasure the few pieces I have so enjoy watching these awesome people restoring these beautiful pieces. Thank you for your hard work.❤
Beautiful result Anders, a stunning table once you worked your magic. Great idea with the paper template to get accurate positioning for all of the legs, I will be doing that in the future!
That is some beautiful parquetry. That takes real skill to do properly. The easy way to strip old varnish is varsol and 0000 steel wool. Go with the grain. The resilts will be a finish ready surface.
This dresser is beautiful and I love all the colors I’m going to try that foil and when I do, I will send you a picture if you like. Thank you so much for your tutorials.

Great save!! And good call with adding the new legs. Love the inlay, ❤
Thank you 🙏🏻
Wow, it turned out great, the oxalic acid was a great hit. Good luck on the mcm challenge🤞😅
Thank you 😊

That looks brand new now!
I wonder if a quality piece of glass would protect that beautiful inlay for the future. I think I would put one on it
Gorgeous..To be Honest, at times I love the concept of restorating old furniture piece with modern twist. The new legs gave the table a whole new look. Beautiful!!! Love all the challenge videos…
Agree! I think the new legs gave it a better mid-century vibe.
A friend has a tilt top table with that inlay. It is from the mid 1800s and it looks a lot like the coarse grain of oak.
Wow you truly resuscitated that roadside scrapwood Bravo! 🙌
Love your staging too.
Thank you 🙏🏻
Lovely result Anders, great 👏🤗
Thank you!
Great save on a pretty piece of furniture. I really like your commentary as you work, it helps to understand the processes being used.
Thank you for watching 🙏🏻
That’s a beauty🤩
Thank you Jay 🙏🏻
looks great! would have like to see you use the wheels, they were unusual, never seen any like that
You did a great job on this table. Looks beautiful. Joyce❤️🙏🇺🇸
Thank you Joyce!
Great call replacing the legs. Much better and looked great in the end!
Agree! Thank you for watching!

I love that you saved this table. It came out beautifully!
Thank you
I think you did a wonderful job! Personally, I did like those wheels. They were quirky and if sprayed with a brass colour, they could look really cool. But who am I to judge. Haha, thank you for those words. U agree regarding the wheels. Actually I tried spray paint them off camera but it did not look that good! 😊
What a beautiful little table - a lovely 'find'. The legs look great too - well done. Take care 🙂
Thank you Michael! 😀
I think it's okay to replace the legs since the old ones were just rotting away.
It's not like this is going in a museum, the alternative would have been compost, so you saved it. Looks beautiful.
Finally someone that’s gets it 😅 Thank you for watching!
I’m bummed you didn’t reuse those awesome wheels!! You could’ve heated the metal and brushed it with a brass wire brush to give it that brass color.
I have saved then for some future project 🙂
At first I was thinking a cards table, but they usually had drawers. I agree, it's older than it first appeared.
I think it’s a smoking table but I’m not sure. Thank you for watching!
I agree with others that the table is from the 1930s or '40s, however, your update is very successful and it takes the splayed legs well. Had you changed the coved edging to something square, it would be hard to say this isn't MCM. Nice job!
Good work! I love the compass and appreciate the work that goes into inlaying the pieces of veneer. It's a classy addition to the piece.
The large portions are definitely oak veneer. The dark part of the star looks like walnut, anyone's guess what the lighter wood is. Nice job bringing it back to a useful and lovely life. Kia kaha and aroha, from Aotearoa.
Thank you!
Good Job but I would have prefered the original legs and the wheels.
I think it’s absolutely beautiful, and I think if it was me, I would add a layer of glass to the top just a suggestion, marvelous work!
Thank you for watching 😀
First time viewer and subscribed. Beautiful work.
Welcome och Thank you! It was a really fun Challenge and project. Stay tuned - new video up soon 😅
That table is not Mid-Century, but could be from the 70’s in a more traditional style. I think you found a gem. The table top with the star sunburnt is beautiful. Great end table. Nice job. Carol from California
Hi Carol and thank you for watching. Agree that the table could be from the 70s. I really loved the star inlay! It made the whole table! ⭐️
I disagree, It appears to be older to me. The build and materials look late 40's to early 1950's.
@@dennisp.2147 It's a modern reproduction. Probably only 3-5 years old.
@groom_of_the_stool nope, I can guarantee you that it’s not.
@@Heymrk People don't throw out 5 year old solid wood tables.
The wood looks to me like red oak. Lovely color you chose.
Great work, but... what about the underside of the table, does it need to be repaired or at least cleaned ? 😊
True! I did that part after the shoot and before I sold it 🙃 Thank you for watching!
Wow! This challenge has exposed me to so many great YT restorers.
Love the job you did ❤ and have subscribed! 😊
Hi and welcome! It was a really fun Challenge! Stay tuned for next video 😀
Wow, that’s amazing. To find that on the side of the road! I wasn’t sure how it would look with the new legs, but it looks amazing. Well done!
Oak,and it's beautiful
Thanks! 😊
Middle of California here.....Zowie! You made it gorgeous.. It is beautiful now. Well, well done!
Hi! Guess you have some warmer temperatures at your location ☀️ Thank you for watching!

@@midcenturyflipper Thanks - you are so kind. Getting a foothold with a channel is so difficult, so your gesture is much appreciated👍
🙂
Wow! You took those pieces from the snow and gave it a new life! It is lovely now. Great job! Em
Thank you 🙏🏻
Thank you 🙏🏻
From a piece of trash by the side of the road, this turned out beautiful! Nice job.
Thank you 😀
At first I was skeptical about the newer style legs but after seeing the finished product I think you did an amazing job upcycling that tabletop.
You took that from actual trash, to a very nice little table. Good job, Anders!
Thank you 😊
What a great find! You made it beautiful again and rescued it. It can have a second life ❤
I love giving furniture s second life! 😀
I think this table is a stunning piece. The legs are a beautiful upgrade. Great job!

Thats s better title for the video 😂💪🏻 Thank you for watching!
That certainly an example of from free to fabulous! Lovely
Thank you Molly!
Oh, it’s just beautiful. It must’ve soaked up so much stain, poor dry thing! Great video, love this challenge!

Fantastic restoration!
I wish the person who threw this out could see it now. Love your staging at end 👏

You did a really really nice job restoring this dining room set. Well done!

Hi and welcome! Thank you. The Challenge was a really fun one. And there will be more 😀 Stay tuned for my new project. Up in a weel or two. Take care!
Oh yes and the legs do make it look mid century. So a good choice there.
I love when old unloved pieces are restored.
I would have sanded the bottom. But I really like the table!
This was beautiful 😍 All thats missing now is the cat 🐈 that every other male restorator has 😂
😂 No cats in my videos! Perhaps a bird or two!
Um. Hmm..🤔 Yup, birds will do.
Very nice work too.
Cool template for positioning the legs!
U bet 😂 Thank you for watching!
Hey there MCF.......you did one heck of a great job on that little table!!!!
Well thank you! It was a really fun project!!
The table is beautiful but it would have been nice to have seen the base get a bit of love too. I know ‘who sees the underside?’, but given the wood was so dry it could use some oil or wax. Not a negative, because I think you did a great job

What a great road side find. Beautiful grain and perfect choice for stain 👍🏼
Beautiful work! I would never have imagined it would clean up so nicely, nor would I have ever considered salvaging it 😮

Good job

Thsnk you so much 😀
This is now beautiful! It's certainly the most intricate however I don't understand why you didn't at least clean up the bottom of the table.
I wondered the same thing. Jay has us spoiled with his attention to detail.
So paint the ends brass, they should be on the table! The table turned out beautifully though.
Fascinating. I have seen similar tables to this and I have been told that they are actually older than MCM, most likely from the 1930's to early 40's. Your legs made the transition!

I think it ende d up really good! Thank you for watching!
Lovely little table now--for tea or cards? I liked the little wheels--consider adding them back; even tho they're not brass, they're interesting.
I would purchase that in a second! Well done. I love your workspace too. See you in the next one!! 🥃
