In this video, I have some news to share with my faithful viewers. I recently found this old farmhouse table. I first attempted to remove the 3 layers of paint. My plan was to sand this table and refinish it. I soon realized it was necessary to completely disassemble this entire piece, and slowly rebuild it. I hope you enjoy watching the process. As always, thank you for your support. Barry

Barry you honored the original builder of that table. You recreated their legacy in a beautiful fashion. Awesome job!
Your words made me choke up 🥹❤️
It's the honest truth. It was such an privilege to watch the caring he put into that piece.
@@Kmi4880 I agree
Absolutely true. The woods beautiful grain and the way Barry melded the various woods together while honoring its age and authenticity is wonderful. We are only the caretakers of these pieces for the next generation.
I so agree. Too many are to eager to throw away such pieces.
I know that creators like yourself have the right to keep their lives private, but thank you for sharing that you are in a relationship. I’ve always thought you have the biggest heart and deserve all the happiness. I love that someone can share your life and enjoy your creativity. Lucky person!
The thing I love about this little table, is that it comes from a time when nothing was wasted. It was cobbled together with different woods to serve someone’s purpose. I bet it was well used and hard wearing. Probably well loved too and appreciated. We have become such a wasteful society that it’s shameful what we throw away. I love that you have sympathetically restored this little treasure to live again, and I bet the original creator will be delighted with the result. xx
I totally relate to your thoughts. 🤍
My husband will dig things out of the dumpsters in our community often, but he rarely keeps them. He takes them to one of the local thrift stores. It's awful how much furniture and functional bicycles get thrown away.
It has a history. Probably a happy family history.
If wood could talk, what a story this table could tell. Certainly a happy ending. Thanks for such a beautiful re-creation.
Your narration is so thoughtful & gentle. You’re a wood-working Bob Ross;)
I am sure when it was created the person did not expect it to be an heirloom piece. You have created a beautiful reconstruction that will last much longer. It is beautiful.😊
Hi Barry, somebody’s love went into making that little table and with your love, patience, skill and time, you have honoured that person. That little table will live on to give joy and beauty for a long time to come thanks to you. Thank you for another wonderful video 😊
My goodness look at all of the life she has left in her now. Stunning!!!
Barry, I am very Happy for you !!! You have traveled the world, something only some people can dream of, you have someone special , your business is growing, and you're getting better and better at your craft 😊
You never cease to amaze me. Who would have guessed that, under that humble and messy green paint, would be a beauty made of walnut. So, so pretty.
Barry it’s so nice to see you back to doing some furniture restoration! Thank you for taking the time to share your work with us.
I love how it turned out. The top part, holy smokes that wood is beautiful.
Love how this turned out! It still looks homemade, and it’s delightful. 👍🏼🥰
Clean lines, perfect color. You can hear the little table breathe a happy sigh and smile again.
Thank you Barry, for showing us that even old beat up things are worth the effort to make them usable again. Excellent restoration.
I could hear the table breath with a sigh of relief when you were removing the green paint. Your word on Birch mattress did nothing to convince me in getting a Birch I have already decided that when the time comes that's the mattress I'll be getting. Unfortunately I am unable to take advantage of the 4th of July offer. Even with the discount not sure I can afford it. I like this choice out side your norm. It show how truly skill-full you are.
It's sensational!!! It makes my heart so happy to see pieces being saved and restored to originally intended. Well done, sir! 🎉
I hope for your relationship to continue to grow and strengthen through the difficulties of distance and travel. ♡
It's because we realize deeply how fragile life is, that when we see something in ruin, we want to restore its life purpose. It's a symbol for us of our own fleeting life, and our need to bring meaning to it.
A “My Fair Lady” story. Plain has become so pretty.
The community workshop is such an awesome idea, I absolutely love it! Great restoration, Barry!
Virginia is a great place to find both antiques and restoration projects. You’re also within a short drive from other great sources.
The community workshop is very lucky to have you! Watching the Temu video, and seeing the treasure trove of new tools that you’ve donated, is surely making them very happy to see you.
I watched another video with the same drawer pulls on a dresser. Who could’ve imagined what a treasure was hiding under that nasty spray paint?
Barry!
the way you respect the sentiments of each project, that's what makes me love your work!. thank you for another great save!.
Almost 100K, congrats.
Gosh you just really know how to make a video. So calming and peaceful. Your voice and music suits your content Barry. Always a story behind what you restore. Also happy to hear you’re a travelin man these days to see a lady. I wish you much happiness. When you were in Norway did you lose your mind when you saw that whale? I know I did when I saw my first whale. So beautiful. I’ve enjoyed all these resent videos. I feel like we’re getting spoiled 🇺🇸❤️
Top job! Such a cheery little workhorse of a table. It looked so proud of its new garb.
I love how you made it look nicer but let it continue to identify as a farm table. Now the original builder lives on as well ❤
Wonderful to see you using all the tools in the community workshop. Also delighted that you shared about your relationship, you are too great a guy not to share life with someone special.
❤ I grew up around furniture like this most of it being homemade. My uncle was a furniture craftsman and a upholster. Very nice work. Thank you for keeping the original intent alive.
What a little gem and what a story it could tell if it could talk 😊😊😊. Beautiful restoration Barry.
What a wonderful transformation!!!!
Thank you
Just might be the most stunning walnut I've ever seen. Who would have imagined it would be found under what was probably the most overlooked piece in the shop. Great work!!
Barry, you’ve continued to improve in your skills, both in cinematography and restoration. Outstanding job! Keep it going! - Phil
A beautiful little table. Loved this one
I'm very curious about the community workspace. How it is set up, how many people use it, what tools are provided, the approximate cost, etc. It sounds like a great workshop away from workshop :). edited: wow, I'm seeing some Really great tools!! And, I can't believe that walnut! I am pro-patchwork :)
Barry: nice restoration on the table. It really looked good. This co-up workshop sounds interesting. I didn’t even realize they existed. Boy, it’s a great idea. Please talk more about this concept. Thank you. Carol from California
Better than new! Solid walnut! What an asset that whole shop was, enabling you to disassemble, plane, recut, etc more so than you usually would have been able to. That's what it needed. Excellent!
Barry, I was so happy to see that you wanted to keep this hand made farm table as original at what it once looked like when it was made. I believe you did amazing job. It looks awesome. I love finding old furniture that someone has made. ♥️♥️😊👍👍👍🌟
Beautiful wood. Beautiful job working it.
Lovely to watch your respect and care on this restoration Barry. I love to listen as much as watch. I miss your home workshop which looks a mini paradise to me. So happy that you have access to the community workshop in Virginia. Especially if it gives you more together time❤❤👏👏love from SWFrance
That walnut was a beautiful unexpected surprise. I could almost feel this sad little table sighing with relief, very nicely done. I think I would have filled the holes without trying to disguise them, more because they're dirt-catchers if not, but it's nice to see the "history" of the piece left intact when much of it wasn't... intact that is. Kia kaha from Aotearoa New Zealand.
Hi from South Africa Barry. Wonderful work as always. Love your channel
Hello from Ireland ☘️ and thank you Barry ~ every vlog is a joy to watch and this was another beautiful rescue!
I'm not at all surprised that this little homemade table is composed mostly of walnut! So much of my furniture is this type -- made by someone in the family with very little finesse, from trees that grow wild in Southwest Virginia, often mixing wood types. I'm so glad you were able to use most of the original wood and let it carry its history into the future.
The landscape at 0:25 looks like home, to me.
One of the best parts of woodworking is discovering what is hiding under all that paint. I love finding items like this just for my own satisfaction and its great to build my skills. Great job as always!!....Good Karma on your journey!
I’d love to have a piece like this in my home, nail holes and all. Just looking at it at first, green glory notwithstanding, I had a sudden strong sense that this little table had a long interesting story. I wished I could have reached out and touched it and connected. You did a masterful job making it a solid addition to a home again, a place to showcase a favoured plant or display a special book or photo. Thank you Barry for the respect you show for the work of earlier woodworkers and the beautiful wood.
That table is such a cutie patootie, and you did a great job with the colour. It's hard to see that it's made with such different timbers. I also love those drawer pulls. I've never seen anything like them.
Congratulations on your 3 year long distant relationship. You should make a video as how yall met, have you talked about moving to the others state, pet lover etc.
I love home made pieces, my uncle was a cabinet maker (minister was his real job) he made the most beautiful pieces. He said he always used hardwood and no fake stuff
I wish he was here today, would have like for him to make my kitchen and farm table
Absolutely gorgeous. Keep the drawer pulls! I know they're deco, but they work so well with this piece.
You did a TERRIFIC restoration/remodel of this simple, very rustic farm table. It looks great! Thank you for leaving its blemishes, where possible.❤
You took something that looked like trash and made it beautiful, even with the nail holes in the top. You did such an amazing job. I have watched most of your restorations (bing watched) and honestly this is the one of the most dramatic changes…thank you. As an aside note…you could easily be a writer or a narrator…you have a way with words (and furniture). “If you do what you love…you will never work another day in your life”
Thank you ! This really means alot
So beautiful. Thank you for bringing the table back to life.
Toujours une délice de regarder votre programme. Mille Mercis, Barry.
Beautiful job..faithful to the original carpenter
Love walnut! You did this justice. Pulls large and not the flavor of the piece but striking. Better than the thin originals used to make do with the person who made it. Used what he could. Again, very healing to watch,Barry.
Thank you 😊
Like a previous poster, I too appreciate a little insight in to your movements around this great country. I have been away from the channel for a bit as I thought you were busy elsewhere too. Now it makes sense. I love the fact that you were confident in your skill set to refinish it like you wanted. Bravo! I am recuperating from surgery so I need to go back and catch up with MCM.
Thank you Lucretia!
Barry so excited for you on so many counts, first you found someone special enough to go all the way to another place to spend time together, second you found this flexible Maker type place to even use tools you don’t even have sometime! Planing the walnut was such an interesting of a choice! Glad you got to see the Rockies where I am from in Alberta, Canada too!
Wow. I loved Canada
Hi Barry nice to see you again. So it's been over 3 years since we started this journey together. My how time flies. I remember saying one day you would be able to find the right person and start a family. I sure hope that dream comes true at least you've been working on it. So BEST to you and your long distance friend.
I love how you not only respect the original builder but the piece you are working on. You don't make the pieces something they weren't built to be. I love this table and have one of a similar design.
Barry this is beautiful. You do such great work. I loved the video of where you’ve been. It’s so cool because I recognized my home town in Va where you showed the antique brick building. Right on my Main Street. Imagine my surprise to see my town in your video!!! I enjoy your work so much.
It does't even appear to be the same table! Good job!
Just watch your video refinishing the green table, just wanted you to know how much I enjoy all your videos, I like watching how much you care for old pieces of furniture, keep up the good work.😊
You do such beautiful work. I am in health-care, much like you were. Unfortunately, I'm becoming quite disillusioned by the way it seems to be heading. It's very disappointing to me that patient care has seemingly taken a backseat to profit. But, we, as caregivers, are still expected to make the patient happy at all costs. My apologies for this rant. I thoroughly enjoy watching you restore and refinish the pieces you do.
Much awaited, much appreciated excellent work as always from you.
What license did you have? I had a CNA license. I'm disabled now and I'm going to start refinishing/repairing small pieces for something to do. I live on a remote island in Southeast Alaska so most of my supplies are from Amazon and eBay. We have two hardware stores but they don't have a lot to choose from and many supplies they don't have period. I have a a few projects that I have on hand to get started. One is enigmatic. It's old, has four drawers with two little drawers on the top. The backer, the drawers, the car case are all about 1/4" and all have a rough side. It was clearly hand made but in contrast to the rough sawn wood it has what appears to be a turning 5 1/2 of six. I plan to glue another piece on and place a whole one next to it, and take it down with my chisels. I plan to paint it with a stone gray with gold striping. I have a large MDF entertainment center with some solid wood that I'm going to disassemble for materials and make some dividers for the drawers for my supplies. 5:05
Hey Barry. What wonderful work and loving labor you've shed upon that little green table. Amazing that it was made mostly of walnut. I doubt I'll ever tire of viewing your videos here. Keep the videos coming.
Steven Miller in Bay View WI
Hi Barry, and greetings from Virginia! I absolutely love what you did with that little table!! It's great that you saw the potential beneath all that ghastly green paint. There should be a law against painting such gorgeous walnut! You truly transformed this piece from trash to treasure! Well done, sir!
When you said your were restoring this piece I didn't realise you were going to go to such extent. You've done an amazing restoration of this 'honest piece of furniture'. You're a restorer and in a way I also view you as a nurturer. You were working in the health sector and you also continue your love for furniture and transferred that passion to restore, revive and nurture vintage furniture. I wish you the best with your long distance relationship because a home maker and nurturer like you deserves the love and support of a caring partner
I didn’t know it would go this far
Such a beautiful restoration!! I admire the fact that you showed so much respect for the unknown history of the table. One never knows what that may have been!! Admire your mad skills!!
While I applaud your enthusiasm and dedication,it seems that this table was really too far gone to be used ,without major repair, and was less donated ,or otherwise given to a store.
More like dumping rubbish than recycling.
A lovely silk purse from a sad looking sow's ear! But it's what you usually manage to do, so I'm not too surprised. It was helped along by the original walnut, but you made it look all-of-piece.
Labour of love, standing tall and proud. 👍⭐️
Has it already been three years? I remember your first videos like it was yesterday. Cool that you’re making trips to the south. Hopefully, you will eventually move down here!
What a sweet little table now breathing new life! Well done Barry 👍 lovely project - thx for sharing!
Another truly beautiful job, Barry ...
Thank you so much for sharing your great skills & respect for the original builder & his or her skills, as well ...
Terrific restoration & I'm glad you kept the original build in mind as these pieces are a picture of our history.
Barry you are awesome as well as your videos your voice is so comforting thank you
Wow, thank you
Wow, I LOVE it! You do amazing work. Your patience is incredible.
Community workshops, I’ll have to check them out and see if we have them here in our area. 👍⭐️
Thank you again for your videos! Your voice and process are comforting to me.🙋🏼♀️🌷🌼🦋
Gorgeous! Another great job.
Thank you Barry, for saving this poor, old, hall-table, which, if you hadn’t, would be firewood in anyone else’s hands. Trash to treasure yet again! It’s nice that you found somewhere to work comfortably and suitably equipped as you follow your heart. Now two cities have the benefit of your woodworking abilities! I have been quite a few places overseas, but only Norway, Oslo to be exact, that you showed today. My favourite places ever, were Chesky Crumlov in the Czech Republic and St Wolfgang in Austria. Two very pretty and interesting tiny towns to visit and relax in. It’s good to see you doing more on You Tube again!❤️😊🦘🇦🇺
Every one of your videos has me in near happy tears with a beautiful appreciation of life and appreciation for the past. Very well done!
Wow, thank you
We have a table that is been in my family since well before I was born. It needs a refinish. Just some tlc. The wood is in great shape still but the finish needs love especially on the top.
Did I miss the whole story of your moving to a community workshop.
I really like your videos. I've never seen a RUclipsr from home. I live in Lake Geneva.
The walnut is gorgeous. It was fun watching you resurrect this diamond in the ROUGH!
I’ve been watching from the very beginning! I don’t think there’s words to express hours pleasure that you bring. Your empathy for others is my favorite part. I am so glad that you have experienced success. I will continue to watch for as long as you make your fabulous videos.!❤️❤️❤️☮️☮️☮️😊
Wow. This means alot
That turned out amazing! And what a find, who would have thought they used walnut to build most of it. Can’t wait to see more brother!
Beautiful job like always Barry. Happy adventures in your travels. Virginia is for lovers❤. Best wishes to you both. Joyce ❤️🙏🇺🇸
Thanks so much
Oh MY! What an amazing outcome to this piece! You always do such a lovely job of restoring or refinishing pieces to their former glory and at times beyond what it was originally. On a side note, it’s interesting to me that there are so many of us former hospital or healthcare (HC) folks drawn to repairing, restoring and redesigning furniture. Maybe the reason is we are tactile practitioners in HC, refinishing furniture is too. We are drawn to fixing or repairing people and that transfers so well to furniture again. I spent 45+ years at the bedside and in administration implementing the HC IT solution based in Madison. Love that city and the countryside beyond. Anyway I so enjoy your videos and so glad you were able to find a new profession you are passionate about.
Wow! This comment made my day. Thank you 😊
She is a dandy little table!
Wow, Barry. You really made a silk purse out of a sow's ear on this one. Absolutely stunning and hard to believe the "after" is the same table you started with.
What a productive salvage/restoration! It is a great size, and for what it's being asked to do, it has excellent utility. Thanks for answering the question about the new shop. What a boon to have access to new-to-you equipment! Also excited to hear you have a special someone.
I am so grateful
Being born and raised in the mountains of Virginia, I am quite partial to my state. Even though you are only here part-time, let me welcome you to our family as you have welcomed us to yours through your channel! Virginia is a wonderful place for history, furniture, and love! Glad you you found all 3 here! Beautiful job on the table. Can't wait to see the next project!
So glad to show your state
you did an amazing job with literally everythiung, you literally revived a piece that could've been wasted at that point oof its life, its like u dug inside to briung the real material back to life, i love this in so many ways, you never fail to amaze me in how careful you are with pieces with such history, i actually have learned so much from you and ur technique in things like this, well done, keep this up!!!!!!
Thank you!
Holy cow that's a mess.
I love it! It’s a gorgeous upgrade on the original…and it still has its charm! I really enjoyed your pictures from your travels. 🦋
Thank you so much!
A simple table but now, recovered in original wood, back to life. Congrats from Brazil.
Thank you for the support from Brazil
