    I've grand slammed several times in Yosemite. goldens at Adair lake, rainbows in the red peak fork. brown trout in the Merced river, brook in Washburn lake. another time and way easier of a hike was rainbows and browns at the Lyell creek fork of the tuolome and Evelyn lake trail junction, brookies at Fletcher lake, goldens at Townsley lake. the next day goldens in Townsley, rainbows and brown trout in Fletcher and Lewis creeks, brookies in Bernice lake. I did all of those on a two week loop starting in the valley going over red peak pass to tuolome meadows picking up my resupply that I had mailed ahead and then back to the valley via the Lyell fork vogelsang to Merced lake and out the Merced river to the valley.

    • @wildernesswithamani1027
      @wildernesswithamani1027  Год назад

      Right on. I've caught browns, brookies, goldens, and rainbows multiple times over a couple of days but I never made the charge to do it in a single day. Once I got the Golden up top all I had to do was fish my way through the valley. The creek actually has brooks, browns, and rainbows so you can follow that thing and fish for the rest of the slam. It was there so I took the shot. Don't know if I'll ever push for another one now that I got it but I suspect that if things line up and it's easy I'll go for it.

      I use a range of nymphs and I typically start with a larger one because they are easier to fish fast in the event the fish are aggressive. If they start off shying away from it, I go smaller and smaller until they bite or I get down to the smallest ones I got. I always keep a couple of small nymphs with no bead head in the event the fish are really finicky. I have a clip for basic fly fishing on my trout fishing tips playlist that details the basics of what I do.

      @@wildernesswithamani1027 Of course not, I never said that. A fish comfortable enough to breach the surface to feed is not the same as you throwing them back like that. A fish that has been caught, will be stressed out and will have more lactic acid, thus having less oxygen in the blood, and in turn have a harder time regaining its breath making them more vunerable at that moment. I expect these types of release practices at my local socal parks where everyone thinks they're a "prostaff member" catching stocked trout, but not on a YT channel that frequently visits fragile fisheries like this and is such a good ambassador and stweard for the sport. Im not here to argue Amani, just saying as a fellow backcountry fly angler, it's hard to watch.

      Not arguing, just saying I've never seen a problem with the fish I release. I let them rest up in the net and get them back in. Hope you can find a channel more in line with your personal standards. @@chowboy44
