Amani your a nut, an athlete, a filmographic wonder, a great fisherman and again, a nut. Thank you for all you do in bringing the love. I'm also a Patron Subber. Everyone should jump on that.
Man, if you can't go I'm glad to bring the action to you. I know it's not the same thing but it's something. More is coming. For now, my playlists have quite a bit on them already but you can bet more is coming. At least that's the plan!
It looks like you can get over some of that stuff on video but trust me, way too steep. I crawled out onto that one section above the water in the beginning and I wasn't sure I was going to be able to get back without falling in!
Love your videos and full of life personality and commentary. I fish the eastern sierras for nice brooks and some goldens. My goal for the most recent trip was to hike up to Treasure and catch a golden. I achieved both. Thank you.
Right on. Glad you had some success and enjoyment on the trip. This is a good spot to get the classic Sierra slam because once you get the golden, the brookie can be obtained on the hike down and then the rainbow and brown can be caught in lower lee vining creak. I might do it.
🎣FUN TIMES🎗 THANKS AMANI👍 ps- i wish your fishing locations had descriptors ie: NV/CA HWY #'s then maybe which forest lands... Ive seen you put this info in other vids before THANKS AGAIN😎💪
Amani, thanks for another great video...we used to hike into Hyatt Lake in the Emigrant wilderness area just to the north of Yosemite. Close to the same type of altitude and environment. About 8000 ft and mostly granite around the lake. A lot of up and down so it took about 12 hours going in and 8 or 9 coming out. I hiked in with different friends maybe a dozen times over many years. I was about 12 miles each way and about a 2500 ft climb. One thing that I couldn't figure out was that we always caught fish and they were always rainbows, but always near the same size. I think the average was about 13 inches, but we never caught anything more or less than an inch or two off that average. I always wondered why. Do you know if they plant lakes like that from a plane? Somebody brought that up and it seemed reasonable early on but after many years of the same size fish I still don't know the answer!
I am making somewhat of a guess but I would imagine the type of available food and how much time the lake spends under ice are big factors to how big the fish grow. I am not exactly clear on how often alpine lakes in the backcountry are stocked by planes. Sounds like you have some awesome memories from those hikes. There is no way I could ever forget hiking that far and for that long. You got effective memory burn from those trips.
I agree with Mark, Thanks for sharing. Manys years ago my favorite was to fish these kind of lakes was by float tube and fly rods. Amani these videos keep me going, love them, gives us some relief from all the others political BS on YT. Stay safe.
I use 5' light Ugly Stiks in most of my videos from fishing Lake Tahoe to fishing rivers unless I'm using my fly rod or trolling with lead core line. I use spinning reals that roughly cost $20-$30. I'm not big on high end equipment. I have a clip describing my basic method for setting drag on my fishing tips playlist.
Something years ago worked great up there called like a "green mannttuka? looked like a bead head green large flat skinny wooley worm? Its late and I cannot spell just dreaming of fishing Lol! Fairwinds!
If it worked years ago it surely would work today. You might have to make the thing dance a certain way but I'm sure it would still put fish in the net!
I wouldn't even know how to do that. Those are common 1/32 OZ rubber tube jigs made by powerbait. Very easy to find. If you need ones with no scent for special regulation water, I use sierra slammers. I am someone who's computer skills are rudimentary at best. Sorry about that.
Right on. Between work and creating content flying solo on trips just makes everything easier. I just got off work and I'm still trying to figure out where I'm going tomorrow. I'll keep the content rolling as much as I can though. Thanks for watching.
Do you think it’s possible for those lakes up there to hold big fish ? I know your catching a lot of trout in that area which to me makes up for it . But I’ve been curious if there could be some monster trout hiding in the depths just like In Lake Tahoe ?
I'm sure there are some bigger trout in there that mostly eat other trout. In higher lakes like this the growing season for them is short but it still stands to reason that the big ones are in there. Monster trout, not so sure. Bigger trout, definitely.
I work Thursday-Sunday. I typically fish Monday and Tuesday minus drive time, sleep time, and hiking time. Then I get home and do all of my editing and posting Wednesday. Depending on the amount of content, that editing/posting process can take over 12 hours. I have a video on my 'variety playlist' titled something like "my Eastern Sierra Grind" that details what goes into my usual fishing/ editing schedule. The difference here is I slept in the woods instead of my car. Winter fishing I usually can drive home and get my editing done at the end of each day. Just depends on what I'm doing from week to week.

Thank you for the kind words and your support. I really appreciate all of it.
Really Beautiful country
Yeah, it's amazing up there. I love exploring the less traveled areas away from trails around an alpine lake.
Halo my friend.. Wauu amazing good job
Right on. Fun time out there to be sure.
What an awesome place to fish. Wish my health allowed me to go there. Thanks for sharing.

Nice video with non stop action on catch/release of brook trout. Beautiful scenery!
So much fun out there. Once I figured out what I had to do to catch fish the rest was gravy.
You are the man love your stuff, the scenery, the fishing, the commentary are all on point. Thanks for sharing again, see you on the next one👍🎣👊
Thanks. I love making the content so it makes me happy that viewers like you enjoy it.

I think I give that information in almost every fishing video?

Man, love your videos! How do you determine your drag setting? What rod/reel do you like to use in lakes vs. rivers? Thanks Amani, and keep fishing!

Would these brookies even look at spinners?

@@wildernesswithamani1027 no, no, all good.
Just needed the brand.
I can do the web work.
Thanks again Amani for taking us along!!
Cheers!
Bear canisters now required in Desolation Wilderness
Bear Canisters are required in a lot of places these days.
Hey, man! Im down in Reno but would absolutely love to get together for some fishing some time if you're ever interested!

I am curious. How do you post you videos from Dick's Lake? My recollection is that there is no cell service there.
I think he does it after he gets home.😉

What’s the temperature of the water 💦 🙏
I'm not sure but some people who were swimming told me it was real cold once you got below the surface layer..
