Solid Morning of Lake Tahoe Shore Fishing (NV)
After taking a week off from making content, I figured I'd hit a boulder strewn shore up at Tahoe before Winter conditions make it too sketchy.

Nice job do you inflate your night crawlers and how long of a leader do you use?
Amani !what do you do on winter breaks from fishing? 😊
Awesome
I've caught thousands of trout for the past 40 plus years here in california.ive never ,ever filleted 1 of them. Your wasting a lot of meat that way. I cook them either wrapped in foil.( Whole). Or pan fried whole using olive oil..the skin comes off easily. Take your fork and peel the meat away from both sides of the lateral line. . Then grab the tail. Lift slowly. And your set. Zero. Waste. You' now have almost 100 percent of all the meat on the fish. Boneless. Just don't over cook the fish. The bones will then fall off the spine into the meat.. just olive oil and a little season salt. And a little water if the pan gets dry. 1 small icecube in the foil wrapped trout with give it a little moisture. Steam. Try Amani. It's the way I've always cooked my trout, salmon. Steelhead. Enjoy Brother !!! .
That's the best lookin' bus stop I've ever seen. Glad the bus showed up for you.
#83👍🏻🎣👀
Great camera angle and lighting for this one!
Next time you catch a fat one, and squeeze Crawdads out of it…hook one or two of the best condition crawdads up and give em a go…
A bad time for experimentation proved to be correct. Boulder action snaggs suck, well played. Eaten good, nice color filets make for a great day!
How about a slip bobber setup?
Once the weather starts freezing the lakes, do you have any plans to do some ice fishing ?
I hope to do some ice fishing this year. I didn't get any in last year.
Gahhhhh have been frothing at the glass on the lake the past couple days! Way to make it happen while it’s still warm!
Beautiful day. Yummy looking Rainbows. Do you ever run into any of those Cutthroats that Nevada has been dumping in there?
Yeah, I got one of them in Emerald Bay last time. I posted the video a few weeks back. I've also git a couple of small ones on the Nevada side. They are definitely in the tributaries on the California side. I got several when those where open. Looks like they are spawning.
Do you remember 2013 when DWP drained lake Sabrina partially
Yes I do. South lake was super low for a few years and the exposed creek in back was amazing for browns, rainbows, and brookies. I have clips for that creek on my backcountry fishing playlist and on my Patreon. That creek seems to get exposed about every 7 to 10 years when either there is a drought or they are working on the dam.
What an awesome morning of fishing! I just can’t believe the size of the rainbows for an alpine lake! Thank you so much for putting in the work and sharing these awesome adventures 👍🏾🎣🙏
That is one of my favorite lakes to fish but the hike there is brutal. In the Spring/early Summer, be ready for a lot of bears up there! The lake we hiked to cross country above, Brannigan lake, was amazing but getting there was no picnic either. I have a clip for that lake up from this trip and the rough cross country hike as well. That's where we ran into that bear. We were using the bear trails to get through the dense woods at the Back of this lake so we weren't totally surprised to run into that bear. It was just a little close for my liking!
You are intrepid, tireless, affable, skilled and not the least bit concerned with trendy ,expensive tackle. You just go out and DO!More power to you.
Just came across your channel, dang what a playground you have. Enjoying these vids immensely.
Right on. Glad to have you as a viewer. I have hundreds of videos across my channel playlists. Hope you enjoy them. I plan to have a lot more to come in the future.
Try running the jig under the bobber in the slower water…..Steelhead are big rainbow trout, and Steelhead love jigs drifted under a float I. Slower moving water
Right on.
Great highlight clip, I have been out of the touch for over three weeks what a great way to catch up on your success! Happy holidays and keep the action coming!
Right on. I had this short song I had been wanting to use for a while so I threw this together with limited content but the action has been good enough to get it done.
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving Amani.
I ate way too much pie! I guess that's what the holidays are all about. Hope you had a nice feast with friends, family, or both.
That Christmas Story impression is CLASSIC.
So many layers!
You always know how to make the fishes come out and play.
It's an ongoing struggle!
Nice, well done! I would much rather have Trout than Turkey for Thanksgiving!
Right on. What I ended up having is way too much pie!
Spot burning highlight clip smdh they just had a wildfire no need to burn it any more!
What spot. I have hundreds on my channel dude. Go watch something else or keep watching. I don't care. Your baseless spot burning claims have not panned out. No spot is burned and the fishing seems to be fine everywhere I return to and there's never anyone fishing there. Keep crying for no reason.
#14👍🏻📱⏪🎣👀
right on.
Nice catches! I was out there, fishing from the shore this past September and got skunked. Not even a bite. But I was still in the shallows, hadn't walked far enough to find deeper water I guess, maybe that's why. Looks like the Grebes were as plentiful when you were there as they were in September. They're fun to watch. Thanks for the video.
It's really shallow for a lot of the shoreline. I had to walk a fair distance to get to this spot. I remembered this deeper area from when I shot the video with my boat but I didn't recall it being this long of a walk from where I parked. It was far!
My goodness what an awesome video. After watching hike I was like no way I’m ever doing that, but after watching this fish video I’m starting to consider. Just the size of the rainbows were mind boggling! I’ve never seen rainbows that big in a hike in alpine lake. I think it was worth it. Definitely not going alone if I get to doing it! Thank you so much for all the information and all you put into this video. It’s adventures like this that make wilderness with Armani so inspiring to watch🙏👍🏾🎣
Thanks for this video. I've just now relocated to Susanville after over 30 years in Truckee. Eagle is sorta in my backyard but I don't care for lake fishing. This gives me some places to scout in my truck until it warms up some.
Right on. I'll be heading up past that way at least a few times this cold season.
Is fishing in winter off the shore worth it?
Yes. It's a lot better than when it's hot and the water is warmer. Mackinaw and Rainbows are cruising close to shore. The boulders can be dangerous with ice and snow in the Winter. I often seek out easier areas to walk around on like some of the spots in Emerald Bay. I'll be fishing Tahoe a bunch of times this Winter. My fishing tips playlist has a clip detailing how I rig up for the lake if you haven't seen that information and are interested.
@wildernesswithamani1027 i went this morning because of you and caught a nice little rainbow! So are the trout closer to shore right now?
Great job simplifying complex ideas.
Right on. That thing can be tricky to navigate.
My hands got cold just watching this clip! 1st fish was nice! 2nd one, no so bad either for sub-30s scouting mission. I am hoping that you get a pocket heater or something you can warm up with instead of the car heater. Thanks for taking us along and looking forward to you next adventure.
Getting your hands wet during those early hours is always brutal! I usually stop fishing and stand there with my hands in my pockets for at least 5 minutes before I start fishing again. You need to be able to fell your hands to fish!
"AH HA HA HAY....Gotta sacrifice some skin!" that laugh, too funny, Amani.... "Bobber down! Bobber down! Bobber down!"
I don't mind getting the hands wet for decent fish when it's really cold but I am always hoping the small ones cooperate and just fall off!
If it works, it works.... That's fishing in a nutshell. Thanks for showing us another area of NorCal fishing water. I need to get out more.
My most of my whole fishing approach is formed around that concept.
You're a beast Amani fishing in 20 plus degree weather but always enjoy your videos ! What weight jig do you use?
Thanks. I use 1/8oz marabou jigs. I was thinking about getting some 1/4oz jigs for the higher flows next spring. I have a video on my fishing tips playlist that details all of the jigs I have had success with since I started using them a few years back.
You make it so interesting no matter what the conditions.
Right on. Scouting rivers is always an adventure.
What brand you throwing? Can only find Trout Magnet brand at Bass Pro.
I am using the cheap crappie jigs from bass pro shops here but they fall apart really easy and require wrapping a tight later of yarn around them. The gold hooks are tougher to file off as well. I've had success with a few different brands. I have a clip on my fishing tips playlist that details the different brands I have had success with. The ones made by Hawken fishing are my favorite. They don't fall apart and the barbs are easy to file off.
The Marabou King strikes again!
Yes!
You hit 10K!!!!
Yeah, it took a while but I got there. My fishing universe continues to grow!
Good stuff Amani - way to battle that cold for your viewers - nice quality fish - bobber nymph great idea - keep on grinding my man👊🎣👍
I had wanted to get out that way for a couple of years now and I am glad I finally made it. The bobber and a nymph is great for expanding the attack. I really like it when I see a fish follow my jig but won't strike or misses it. I can then hit it with a completely different look with that simple set up.
Nice
Love those rainbows in there.
Happy Thanksgiving Brother ...Glad i caught your video, Some nice catches! It hit 20 degrees at my home, I dont know how you can stick your hands in that freezing water...your tough..ha 😅
Getting your hands wet in that weather sucks for sure but if it's a decent fish I don't care. I need the really small ones to just fall off that barbless hook! Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.
Those were some very healthy looking rainbows. Awesome !
real nice looking fish and hard fighting. Tons of river out that way to explore. I want to get back out there when road construction crews aren't in the way of the best looking areas to fish!
Beautiful fish.
I can't argue with that. The video doesn't do the amazing colors justice.
hi Amani , my dad used to take us to The North Fork of the feather river before it got damned. Love your attitude or is that cold. nice fish Walt
Right on. I was surprised how many power stations and dams are on it. I need more investigating.
#2👍🏻🎣👀
Right on. This opens a new area for the North Fork of the Feather. There are many miles of river to fish along that highway.
What length and weight fly rod and what size reel do you recommend for fly fishing up at Cotton Woord Lakes and surrounding waters?
I use a cheap $30 backpacking rod and my Lampson reel was a gift from one of my Patreon subscriber. Before that I used an old reel I got at a garage sale for most of the fly fishing videos I have on my backcountry fishing playlist. My point is, if you are just starting out or mostly care about just catching fish, I'd just order a maxcatch backpacking rod on Amazon for around $70. They come with a reel, floating line, and a 4 piece 5 weight rod. If I got that all I would need to do is tie on a 4lb fluorocarbon leader (I use Berkley Vanish) and a fly. Ready to go! That's my general set up for the dozens of videos on my backcountry fishing playlist. The basics of my alpine lake approach can be found in my "Want to try Fly fishing..." video on my fishing tips playlist if you are interested.
@@wildernesswithamani1027 Thanks!
Don't smoke that weed kids.
Don't know what you are talking about.
Does you want to go fishing? I messaged on the gram
I never check Instagram! Sorry about that. I started that as sort of an advertisement for my RUclips channel that never really did much. Maybe it will start working in that respect later but I don't count on it. I mostly fish alone. Sometimes I fish with my cousin or old friends but out of the hundreds of videos across my channel playlists almost all of them are just me. It keeps planning simple with my busy schedule with work. I'm at a point now where so many viewers have asked me to go fishing I don't want to randomly pick and choose because it wouldn't be fair. Anyway, it seems like all of you are out there with me when I'm shooting content.
This is just a thought. Rule of thumb is you need to be quiet to catch trout
Rule of thumb is success speaks for itself. I feel I'm pretty successful at getting quality fish in the net in the hundreds of videos across my channel playlists. You may disagree with that assessment but in the end, I'm just having a great time.
