My goodness what an awesome video. After watching hike I was like no way I’m ever doing that, but after watching this fish video I’m starting to consider. Just the size of the rainbows were mind boggling! I’ve never seen rainbows that big in a hike in alpine lake. I think it was worth it. Definitely not going alone if I get to doing it! Thank you so much for all the information and all you put into this video. It’s adventures like this that make wilderness with Armani so inspiring to watch🙏👍🏾🎣
The hike to Lake Vernon just so you can be in position to get up to this lake is brutal. Once you are up there it's easier to say it's worth it. I would say I have proclaimed the last 6 or so times during the hike up that "this is the last time I'm making this hike to Vernon!" It only took until half way up this time! Then I get into the killer fishing and then everything is up in the year!
All I can say is wow! Those rainbows were absolutely beautiful. If I were a younger man I would be heading there tomorrow! Thanks for the uplifting video Amani. 👍
The fishing was great. I might have another trip to Vernon in me but I'm not sure about taking another shot up to this lake. I'm not a young man anymore!
This trip didn’t disappoint after the hard hike in. What a trip thanks at my age it’s probably too rough of a hike for me. So we got to be there with you.
I might have one more Vernon trips in me because I am not getting any younger myself! The hike is brutal but to be honest, I feel dead tired at the end of the hike just like I did in my 20's. I can't tell the difference! I actually felt better than usual this time the following day. Usually my whole body is worn out but this time I was actually ready to go to Branigan the next morning. We both were. I'm glad we did Branigan the next day because if we waited the rain would have stopped us the following day. I won't climb on that steep granite when it's wet. I don't care what the fishing is like up there!
Yeah, that lake is really isolated. Not many people go up there and if you ever make the journey you'll see why! Great day of adventure. I was wiped out the week after this trip. We powered over 40 miles.
I wish I had more time to fish. I forgot how long it takes to get up there. Totally underestimated the level of difficulty. Oh well, the action was good and fast.
I agree. It was a great spot to spend a couple of hours. I forgot how long it takes to get up there from Vernon so we had to make the available time to fish count. The trout let us off the hook.
@@wildernesswithamani1027this looks like a place you might want to set up a camp site for 2 or 3 days. I mean as hot as it looks I would not want to leave for a while! I would love at least 2 or 3 evenings of fresh trout dinners. Sorry you had to leave so soon!
I really enjoy seeing you get so excited about the hot action. It is a great reminder for me of just how cool and wonderful those days are...when the fish see your offerings like it's a free day at the smorgasbord! Haha...one of your best videos and that is saying something because you always make good videos amigo.
wow those are some Nice Rainbows and that is a Beautiful Big Alpine Lake man that must be a grind for you not wanting to Ever go Back to that Amazing Lake.
I do well enough at Vernon, which is a hell hike in itself, where I would probably be content just fishing there and the outlet creek next time. If I was going to go to Branigan again, I'd probably drag a sleeping bag up there and spend the night so we could fish longer. I say "we" because there's no way I'd do either of these hikes alone! Too far and the terrain is an easy one to get injured on. Especially when you are really fatigued.
I am always uncertain when I walk up to this lake and start fishing. I always catch fish but sometimes it can be tough. I've fished this lake enough times over the decades where I should catch fish! Knowing how a lake fishes is a huge advantage.
So glad your arduous hike paid off with a bevy of fish in your net. And beauty Bows nonetheless! Brannigan now on my list. Overall, how much elevation did you two scale to get to Brannigan? (Minus the dead ends 😜) Great stuff Amani…!
I am not sure what the elevation gain was but it's a fair amount. If you don't mind finding your way through the forest at the back of Vernon, Taking the straight shot up where the outlet creek flows is definitely the shortest and fastest route. As long as the creek isn't raging too much, it's totally doable and plotting a route isn't too difficult. It is really steep though and it's not something you want to do unless the creek is small and the granite around it is bone dry.
Those were some beautiful rainbows - that hike was definitely worth it - thanks for taking us a long to such an beautiful place to fish🎣👊👍
I almost wish I drug my sleeping up there and stayed the night so I could fish more. I don't know if I will make it back up there but you never know.

I've crossed country up to Branigan from Vernon. We camped up there. It was tough hike but worth it. Thanks for the memories.
I was thinking that hauling a sleeping bag up there from base camp would be the way to go. Way more fishing time the route you took.

Great job Amani! Content we can’t get anywhere else. Truly amazing
Right on. Glad to bring you the action.
One of your best trips ever Amani. Your friend seems like a cool guy as well. See ya
Right on. That's my cousin Lance. His mom, sister, and her kids are the ones I am usually visiting when I say I'm visiting family near Sac.
Beautiful trout
It seems like they have more spots than regular old Rainbows, just overall more handsome.

Amazing, that was definitely worth the hike. Great video, thanks.
I will agree it's definitely worth the hike now that I am sitting at my computer. On that last mile of the trail in, I waiver a bit on that stance!
Killer action Amani!!!

Nice job and thanks for your efforts, cool video Amani.
Right on. It's quite the mission getting up there. Worth it in my opinion.
Wow...beautiful big rainbows for an alpine lake. Well worth it after the hard work getting there.
The average size of the rainbows in this lake and in Vernon is outstanding.
Beautiful!
