    For guys 20 years younger than me. As you are following and watching Sam for your motivation. I used to watch the guy next to him. There were hardly any videos let alone daily vlogs etc.. I just had 2 DVDs of Jay Cutler(favorite probably New Imrpoved and Beyond) and watch them over and over and over again. Before back workout I would watch his back day, before arms I would watch his arm day etc.. That was all I need. I trained exactly like Jay. Never missing meals and even as natural I had really great results even when I did "too many exercises, too many sets and too high intensity all the time" by today standards for natural training where everyone is telling you that you should train bodypart at least 2 times a week, that you shouldn't completely destroy that body part every training etc.. But the truth is if you work hard, have solid diet and sleep and rest protocol. You will gain some serious muscles.. Good old days. Hopefully now younger guys enjoy it the same way as I did. Because for me that passion is gone for the most part.. Anyways I love how Jay is still into fitness and keeps elevating the community. He is the GOAT when it comes to promoting bodybuilding and that healthy life style that's for sure.. Happy for him that he is still healthy and can do what he loves..

      @@sheriff8530 I will always eat clean diet, workout(at least body weight stuff) to keep somewhat lean and muscular body. But when it comes to following bodybuilding in general. I don't like this new era. Where it is more mainstream. Where there is 100 divisions. Where everyone is "celebrity" on social media. Where they give like 1000 PRO cards per year and I can go on and on.. I simply loved when bodybuilding was underground sport for small group of hardcore bodybuilders and fans. Now I don't see it exciting at all to watch IFBB PRO shows or follow any of that.

      So true, the last eight minutes were most informative, the breathing conditioning phases need lots of practice for young buck Sam, and the fact that Jay said he's got enough mass already was awesome. I'm surprised at how much mass and size Sam gained in just the past year!

      Most people won’t make much progress training like that though. Also, it’s very possible training far from failure isn’t any safer as you have to do more sets to compensate due to less stimulating reps per set.

    • @SeuOu
      @SeuOu Month ago +3

      @@Soccasteve I do think there's a lot of individual variation, not to mention the effect of training age. Training to failure has given me significantly better results than the RIR training I did previously. That said, I think proximity to 1RM is the real driver of injury, much moreso than volume or proximity to failure. Oddly enough I've had fewer injuries with failure training compared to keeping 3 RIR, which really surprised me.

    its so real tho. It took me a couple years to grasp the subtleties of mind-muscle-connection with chest. In contrast to biceps and triceps, which ive NEVER had a workout that didnt leave them feeling trashed and occasionally causing doms; it took years for me to walkaway from a 6+ sets and be like DAMN!.. my actual chest muscles are cooked. Originally I thought I was experiencing doms, but it was actually my delts and shoulder tendons that felt cooked. Waking up that first time having doms somewhere closer to my sternum was a gamechanger. It astounded me how something as simple and “cavemanish” as a chest press could be difficult to correctly perform. Im sure no one read this.

      Thanks for this post. I’ve worked out somewhat frequently for years, but have only been committed for the last year. Going 4-5 times a week and actually pushing myself and I still struggle to feel my chest after a workout that leaves me winded and exhausted. Dumbbell pressing has helped me and I feel it more in the stretch, but am still struggling to feel it in the squeeze, unless I’m doing a machine press or maybe a cable press. I feel all my other muscles with back and arms or legs but my chest to mind connection isn’t there yet.
