Excellent tree and another excellent cut. I gotta come out your way and sink my saw into some of them beauts!! Thanks for sharing another awesome video Feller!!
In your last video about jump cutting a tree. I have never seen that before. What an amazing way of cutting a tree. Mostly the best way of cutting tree’s is what are you comfortable with and what a great teaching method. Great teacher and another great video. Thanks.
Great job explaining jump cut. I heard it called roll cutting because. The way the tree rolls off other trees on its way down. Topping the tree from the stump up. Works better for me because I can see pinch areas better. When it comes time to cut the unwanted top off. I use a small wedge between the top and the log. Most of the time, it keeps my saw from getting pinched. Thank you again for another great video. I'm sure someone will learn from it. Great looking but log as always. ty Ben
Beautiful Jump Cut Buddy. You are Awesome in cutting a Perfect Veneer Log my Friend. Yes since I have been Sharpening my Saw it goes thru Wood much Better and takes Actually less time to Sharpen it. Stay Safe out there and Feel Better. Today I am getting ready to cut some more Logs up tomorrow. Ron from the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY.
In the area I’m in we cut so much on steep inclines that jumping is rarely an option we stuck just hanging out til it hits the ground but it does make sense letting the tree jump and spin to a butt first fall..
Appreciate another example of professionalism and advice. I’ve been wondering if I’m doing something wrong or should change a part, I’m leaning towards a part. I can’t get ten FULL loads out of a chain before the chain is “stretched.” While putting a new chain on today I realized it sags a good 3” on a 24” bar before tensioning. That’s 4-5 full turns on a Stihl before it’s loose, yet snug enough for use. I’m ASSuming I need a new and/or larger sprocket? I don’t believe I over tighten my chain…which leaves me wondering if you have released a chain tensioning video? If not, it would be appreciated. Thanks again for the wisdom. My chain…teeth…are 2-3x what they were before discovering your channel.
Completely different way of cutting trees to anywhere else in the world that I've ever seen, but that's awesome. I like how the tree rolls on its way down and how it lands on top of the stump. Think I'll try a jump cut when I get a chance. From 🇬🇧 and 🇨🇦 I've seen in the comments that you guys leave the tops. Isn't there money to be made in firewood or something there or do you guys only process perfectly straight firewood?
We produce high end saw logs and veneer We sell firewood, but we keep our production dollars low by leaving tops and using low grade saw logs for firewood.
I don't know what it was but your saw sure sounded like it was in the hills of my state of pennsylvania and was music to my ears. It's a different sound when its echoing off the hills it wasn't till the last min of the video that I am talking about
Beautiful. Thanks.

Thank you sir!
@@Good.Fellers your welcome
Nice video; nice job; a real beauty of a tree!! Here and with my luck, it would have had 4" lag screws holding a plastic No Trespassing sign.
Oh I’ve been there. Lol
Nice job Feller!
Thanks stacker
Anyone who watches your jump cut videos should realize simply by watching this that this is a technique every logger should know how to do.
Honestly, you should be open too, and know everything. A man should take great pride in his craft.
Agree. Jump and spur cuts are very useful both for high end production and in softwoods that tend to get bound up top.
@christianhviid2167 we’re on the same page my man.
@christianhviid2167 I, agree with both
Good stuff pal.
Glad you enjoyed it.

Yes plus if you have any big crotches it usually will save out instead of compressing and breaking

You can look a a sprocket and tell if it’s worn.
I’ll address in another video. I change chain as needed , bars affect wear as well.

No problem
What kind of chain are you running

#GoodFellers What brand of helmet are you wearing? Would you mind sharing where you purchased it? Thanks
Just a 9 dollar helmet from Amazon with a forester visor and muffs from Menards
@@Good.Fellers Is that enough protection for me? I'm not a pro, like you, yet. Thanks 😊
Seams like all anyone needs, it has government standards
I feel like I would definitely get pinched if I tried that cut 😝
Takes a little practice
👍
🤘
A fella can sure keep the kids fed in sticks like that. What a dandy.
Oh yeah!
Do you lay your tops flat? How so you process those?
Don’t touch the tops
Is it the sawdust that keeps it from pinching your bar?
No it’s technique.
Do you take the entire tree out of there? Or just the veneer log part?
The trunk
Thats gonna be a workout draggin a 100 yards of cable to that beauty!
Yes, it’s gonna suck
@Good.Fellers is that with the 208 or do the deeres have winches
648d
@mattlynch2823 the deeres all have winches but the one in the 740 needs work right now
@@Good.Fellers that's pretty cool that both those grapples are dual arch with winches from that era!
Sweet jump butt
Thank you!
