Awesome video Rob! Thanks for all the details. Hopefully you'll do another video with the camera underneath and drive again to show us the difference.
you really went into depth with this series about the axle/driveshaft. lovely.
Yup!! It’s a pretty important part of the truck so I wanted to look at it all👍
I have a Chevy Silverado that I put a 3.5” lift kit on with a front differential drop that now has a bad leaf spring rap! When it was stock it was very quiet. Lifting definitely does something. I’ve tried putting more leaf spring clamps and rubber shims but still very loud!
That’s a drag! Hope you get it all sorted out😬
If yours is a TRD Sport, they have wimpy springs. The TRD Offroad has progressive springs rather than the lineal springs of the sport. Back in the early days of hot rodding we used traction bars to prevent spring wrap.
I did not know that. Thanks for the info 👍
RobMotive the Sport TRD also won’t articulate as well off road because it has larger diameter sway bar. When lifting a sport for Offroad it’s best to install progressive springs front and rear and the smaller diameter sway bar off a TRD Offroad.
What are you think about the pedal commander or sprint booster for the throttle delay on this trucks? I may gonna get one I have a 2019 Trd manual transmission and I hear a bad comments about that delay in the throttle that it could be end it up burning the clutch so I will get one for mine.
I’m actually working with a company now on a product to try. Stay tuned👍
@RobMotive hey bro are you going to do power folding side view mirrors on the Tundra
I’ve been looking at them. However, some of the mods I have planned may make it a mute point!!🤔
I'm not familiar with this stuff. The video was good info and nicely done. Thank you.
Thanks David. Thanks for watching 👍
Cool info. Hey how high is your garage that you can lift the Tacoma a good height on that lift? Its pretty cool.
It’s over 13’👍
I had vibration in my 2012 SR5 4wd after a 2” front leveling kit. Tried this with my center support and it changed nothing! I’m thinking it was in a tire. Ran BFG 265/70/17 AT. These days, road force issues with poorly made tires cause vibrations. Not cheap tires but tires that have high road force from manufacturers.
Could have been. I’ve heard a lot lately about tire imperfections causing ride quality issues.
Sounds like a needle bearing issue. Replace it with the ecgs bushing and it should go away. If you didn't change the rear, the carrier bearing drop would only make things worse by changing your drive shaft angles
Looks like you're suspension is doing what it's supposed to. Adjusting to the road absorbing the impacts.
Wheel hub is when you slam on the gas. And it sounds like your rear axle is going to come and slap you in the face
I’d agree. Just enlightening to see when you’ve never seen how it works before .
I’m not sure either of us need that drop kit but I’m still thinking about trying myself.
Gear Runner save your money, the experts that did my suspension lift said no issues, not needed.
Yup...I agree👍
If you are that concerned just get a one peace drive shaft but I think it's fine to me
Nah...I think it’s all good👍
Hey Rob, I have the same lift and did get a small vibration only when I decelerat. So I will be ordering the fix hopefully.
That’s the only time I’d put it in with this lift. No vibration in mine. I do have a vid coming up on how to install it though 👍
@@RobMotive whats the link to order the part?
Just sent the part number to your Facebook message👍
I bought a 07 Tacoma used and this freaked me out cause every time I stopped a few seconds later it felt like the truck was being pushed forward slightly like someone rear ended me going really slow. My truck has a cheapo 1.5" lift (blocks in back spacers up front)
I bet it was unnerving! Many people have experienced the same!😁
howd you fix it?
I also had an 07 taco, 4x4, 4door I purchase new. This was just a common problem from Toyota, lunging forward, not the lift. Yes, I eventually installed a lift, but the problem you’re describing is just common, maybe just that year I really don’t know.
It's fine the way it is, but if you're that concerned about the angles, get a one piece driveshaft and eliminate the carrier bearing.
Nah...it’s all good IMO👍
@@RobMotive It is good. Don't bother with the drop blocks. Leave it as is. I was a mechanic for close to 40 years. If you want to do anything to lessen the axle wrap, install axle wedge shims.
Thanks for the input! Unless you’re gonna go higher or have vibration there’s no need👍
Mr Robmotive...forgive me BUT what the hell is Axle Wrap??.
Have a look at this video: ruclips.net/video/mZp_dn9nKcE/видео.html
RobMotive that video didn’t really answer the question, so what is axle wrap?
@@tundrawhisperer4821 google is your friend. its an amazing thing...
Axle wrap is unwanted suspension movement that allows the pinion angle to change
As a visual type of person..it illustrates it perfectly. Not sure what you mean🤔
I guess I am in the dark on this one
Bro I put 2nch block on mine should I be worried
With just 2” I think you’ll be ok👍
@@RobMotive thanks bro do you have blocks in the back if so how much
On my current Tacoma I do not.
@@RobMotive oh okay I’m just kinda paranoid lol I think I’m gonna do aal then a 1block
You done ducked up again time for a trade up
Stop looking to your left buddy
Did I miss something on the right😁
The best thing to do is get a custom 1 piece drive shaft with double cardan joint
Sounds expensive 😬
It’s a girls truck, not meant to be modified😂
