Calibrate your Tacoma speedometer with Hypertech!

When you lift a Toyota Tacoma and install larger tires your speedometer will no longer be accurate. This also goes for Tacoma's that have changed out your rear gears. The factory speedometer is not designed to make adjustments for larger tires or aftermarket gears.
HyperTech has developed a plug-and-play system that makes re-calibrating your speedometer easy. All you have to do after buying their kit is download their software that is currently made for PC only, then you will program their device and you simply plug it into the back of your speedometer.

A couple of misstatements in your video: a regear requires no adjustment to the speed and a lift does not affect the speed either. The 3rd Generation Tacoma uses the four individual wheel sensors to calculate speed, so any gear changes are upstream from the measurement and have no effect.
Generally Rough Country has a rebranded Hypertech available for much less money. It uses the same Hypertech software and inside is indeed marked as "Hypertech".
I endorse either product highly, with the following problem: If you are not online the programming software does not work.
In my programming the only thing I paid any attention to was the "Programmed Correction Factor"; just adjust the tire sizes by tenths of an inch to dial in the correct "correction".
Another thing to add that increases the utility of the unit is to leave the USB cable attached to the unit and have it available to true up programming so you don't have to remove the speedometer again. I siliconed mine in place so it would not fall out.

@@ricobesse4451 it depends on the year, some years it will and some won’t. Head over to the Hypertech website and input your year make and model and it will tell you

Yeah it stays plugged in behind your speedometer.
I did not cover it in my video but I’ve had a few people say it’s smart to leave the usb cable attached and accessible at the bottom of your dash near your pedals so you can update the calibrator without taking apart the dash again.
