If I lived in that town and a cop pulled me over for a driving infraction, I'd go off on them. They shouldn't even be showing their faces. They need to be held accountable for what they did, or in this case what they didn't do because they were scared and they didn't care about those children.
By refusing to do their duty these cops have forfeited their authority. No reason to give them anything but the disrespect they earned.

I had a step mom that passed away she was so sweat and showed me lots of attention. My mom wouldn't show it but i knew she was a little jelly but i will always LOVE my MoM like no other she will always me my mom. But my step mom was very very special ladyand i love her too

You don’t have to be the biological parent to love that little girl. The fact that she has two fathers makes her extremely lucky to be loved. But I understand why you felt you needed to clarify. I’m so sorry for your families loss and all the families loss. You all deserve better and deserve the truth so you can heal. They made no single attempt to save anybody. It looks like a police training session, they play police for the cameras.
what they did, is prevent anybody who wanted to help and save.
It started with the very first (good) officer, he watched the gunman wanting to enter the school, called his superior for allowance to shoot him and was denied his request.
There is more than cowardliness here. It is much worse I think.

Respect to him for clearing up the unintended misinformation. A pretty big gesture to do it on national platform; hopefully the olive branch is well received. Best not to let this become a sideshow when the parents’ purpose is clear - accountability so this never happens again

Governor Abbott said earlier this tragedy that they'll take all the help they can get, but man was this school board meeting brutal. There were people offering things for free to help improve the security of the school... but they won't even take their offers of FREE imrprovements.
They gave the whole parents the turnaround and just taking aim from the parents which they rightfully deserve.

When I first saw on TV with your daughter 's picture, I cried until my throat hurt. I love you and all the other victims' families. God Bless you and HEAL your Hearts.
This was difficult to watch, hearing the pain and suffering Angel is going through, but he spoke eloquently and from the heart. If I was in Ulvade, I'd give him and his family a big hug, and let them know there are many people praying and supporting them during this tragedy.
I am amazed that those who took sworn oaths to "serve and protect", failed, and have disgraced the very uniforms they wore on that day.
Justice would be served if they all resigned! 😠

That ruling was in regards to the enforcement of a restraining order which was deemed to have no monetary value.
In this case, the police were specifically hired by the community the ensure the security of a free State. They were negligent in their official duties to the community and should be held responsible.

The restraining order was designated as a process with no monetary value and since the father was granted visitation rights, the police had no reason for urgency in returning the children to the mother.
The Uvalde situation is totally different as the police were hired to provide campus security and were duly paid and well aware of the risks involved. Unless it says somewhere in the contract that they don't have to risk their lives, they can be sued for negligence, breach of contract.

The subject of the restraining order killed his 3 children while the mother was begging the police to do something to find her children and arrest him. The police told her, “Just wait and see if he brings them back later.”
“The opinion by Justice Antonin Scalia found that state law did not entitle the holder of a restraining order to any specific mandatory action by the police. Instead, restraining orders only provide grounds for arresting the subject of the order. The specific action to be taken is up to the discretion of the police.”
So basically restraining orders are worthless in Colorado, they don’t require the police to do anything if the person violates the order, it just says the police can do something, if they want.
@@ChampagneandWaffles the police didn't act on the restraining order because the father still had visitation rights and a time was not specified for said visitation. The police couldn't do anything until the father violated the restraining order and from what I understand, he didn't, as the kids were returned to the police station to be picked up by the mother. Dead, from unknown causes, but still returned. If visitation rights had been revoked by the restraining order, then the police could have acted as it would have been a kidnapping.

It's going to happen again. Because PD's nationwide are trained to look at themselves as superior to the "civilians" (even though they are civilians themselves,). Even innocent children aren't seen as important as compared to themselves. They have been trained to see themselves as opponents to the public. So of course there will be times when the "enemies" children must be allowed to perish. And unless that culture changes this is guaranteed to reoccur.

I just had this conversation the other day, no one "needs" a gun. I was in the Army, got LOTS of training.....I'm retired and see no need for anyone to have a gun. But the person I was talking to, turned it into voter ID and other nonsense, nothing doing with why ANYONE needs a gun, especially an AR anything.....

If government actually gave a crap about mental health as they claim, then they would do everything possible to support these families, the parents, the siblings, the friends, etc. because this is an event that will be a source of mental distress for the rest of their lives. They need all the support possible, and all the respect possible. As a Canadian, I wish I could do more than just send love and support to these families to the south! These grieving families deserve answers at the very least someone needs to be held accountable. Law enforcement swore to protect our children first and foremost and they failed miserably. Greg Abbott should be ashamed of himself. The entire country is demanding answers for the citizens of Uvalde. Unacceptable!!! Fire all those cops, make sure they never have access to a badge or a gun again and bring those children justice NOW.
There were 367 cops there that day from Border Patrol and Texas Rangers, too. Only 30 were from Uvalde. Should they all be fired? And replaced with who? More of the same, operating in the same "officer safety first" culture? Then you've changed nothing.

The value we have as a person is demonstrated by actions, and this father more than proved it.
He is completely devastated by the loss of his daughter, his eyes and look says it all. But still, in all his interviews, he remains clear and accurate in his legitimate requests to the authorities. He is not going to be beaten by the system.
When I saw him cry over the loss of his daughter during the original interview, that broke me! I literally couldn’t stop crying for him! 😭😢

Just devastating for all the families involved. Healing will be a long and grueling process for everyone. Every person grieves in their own way and at their own pace but the loss will always be there. The families deserve all the information and answers to their questions, now!

Yep, on the hot mike before the briefing I heard the DPS say they would, then just walked away.
That's honestly just so disgusting, considering that many people in the area speak it as their primary language. I continue to feel overwhelmed with disgust at how the grieving families and surrounding community are being treated by authorities in the wake of this terrible tragedy. They really don't care for the people. They won't even accept help to correct a massive security issue that was known before this all happened, and they won't expend the barest amount of effort to help people who are so clearly suffering to survive this thing. Somebody should tell them they're racist is showing because I don't think they've realized it yet.

Among everything, let me say it is disgusting that grieving parents feel like they have to justify themselves to head off MAGA GOP attacks and criticisms. Nobody should care that he was the stepfather, but we know MGT and Jim Jordan will find something objectionable to start on about.

This is such a travesty of justice how these poor families are being treated! It tells you a lot that one of the officials tells a reporter that he'll speak and release information when the families stop grieving. What kind of lack of empathy and compassion is that? OMG

This is so sad what is happening in this town where 19 got killed in school... I ask have the governor of Texas been there to console any of these parents... IT makes me angry knowing this governor of Texas is not showing his face now like he did in the beginning... I know the town is sad and going through but, they need to feel that anger and vote that Governor out of office and anybody who think like this Governor..
