Im 16 and recently smoked and I had really bad derealization and depersonalization. It was so bad nothing felt real and I almost jumped out of the car and killed myself because I thought i had to “ wake up” I can definitely see how this could happen. I was okay but I still have depersonalization to this day. I was completely panicked and felt so detached from myself and my actions , my bodies panic took over. Everyone definitely reacts to it differently and my experience was from my first time smoking.

I’ve been to jail, I was addicted to drugs and used to steal to support my habit. Every time I was guilty, I plead guilty and took my time. Even if she was having psychosis, which she may have been, she still needs to do some time , a year or two at least….. just to teach her a lesson maybe, like don’t do drugs. The fact that she only did 6 days is kinda not right, even if she wasn’t in her right mind she took a life.

I've witnessed weed induced psychosis, but only from people suffering from pre-existing mental illness. If she was under the influence of Marijuana when she violently acted out than maybe she should be sent to a mental institution without any specific time of release.

The difference is the expectation. Everybody knows that driving after drinking puts others at risk. Who would think that a rare reaction to marijuana could result in putting others at risk? Nobody. Nobody is disputing that it was drug-induced psychosis, but it wasn't expected like it would be with psychedelics. If anybody experienced some violent psychosis from a pill that is often harmless (which does happen), would you expect them to be in prison?

Not true. I went into a weed-induced psychotic episode for two months, right after I quit consuming 1,000 mg of marijuana per day. I also ended up in jail, because psychosis puts you into a delusional reality, delusions of grandeur. And you don't believe you are crazy at all, when in that kind of psychotic state. So you do things you would never normally do in real life.

Having a psychotic reaction to a small amount of marijuana (not knowing it can have that effect on you because it's not very common) is very different than choosing to drive while intoxicated. A lot of people don't know that if you have a dormant mental illness marijuana will trigger it 1000x I only say this because I am one of these people and had a VERY VERY bad trip on marijuana were I became suicidal and threatened to kill my loved ones.

The "doctor " stated that sometimes a person will feel threatened from the psychosis but she, Brin, said she felt no emotions nor feelings nor thoughts...which 100% cancels what the "doctor " said.
What she did was disassociate herself from what she was doing, distancing herself from her actions so she could do what she did for whatever reason that she is not going to tell us about. Probably in with the WRONG people and ended up having to do some of their dirty work.

@@laithmhanna332 There is a case in the Cali county this one was from where a man got so drunk, went to his dad's girlfriend's house and killed her AND her mom and then fled. There was even less evidence that it was a drunken psychosis because he even tried to hide the murder weapon but he got off on the same defense. So apparently this psychosis/ insanity plea will work for anyone. Playing male/ female victim card won't work here.
The point for this case is that psychosis isn't something you control. It has the potential to happen to anyone. She now knows about it, what triggers it, and can take precautions for it not to happen ever again. Locking her behind bars for something she had no control over won't benefit anyone. She did not consciously kill anyone. It's obvious she was out of her mind when she was stabbing herself and her dog, and she had to have her arm BROKEN for police to make her drop the knife. Anyone that thinks she's "lying" after all of that has super low logic and reasoning skills. lol

Here is why: You can fake being crazy or blame drugs when committing a crime, and 99 times out a 100 you'd fail to convince a jury. But what you don't do when you're faking madness is stab yourself 40 times and stop stabbing yourself only because a cop broke your friken arm by hitting it 9 times with a baton. Let's be real: 99% of all people would let go off a knife if a cop hit their arm with a baton once or twice. And more importantly 99.999% of people wouldn't stab themselves 40 times to begin with. Your brain wouldn't let you. Even people who commit suicide want to minimize pain. She was clearly out of it. I believe it. Weed doesn't make people do what she did. Typically, it will make people lazy (but super relaxed) and want to eat some Doritos and make them laugh at even the lamest jokes from failed sitcoms that lasted only a season and make them become a pseudo philosopher wondering about weird mysteries of the universe, but it doesn't make people do what she did. Yeah, there are SUPER RARE cases where it can make someone angry or make them paranoid, but not to the point of becoming Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th and slashing someone over 100 times (she literally slashed her victim over 100 times, I'm not even exaggerating on that number). There is definitely something else going on here. Anyway, I find it insane how the media is being super duper nice to her while they are typically a lot more vicious towards others that haven't done even a small fraction of what she did. Even on social media, the vast majority of people that typically like to cancel others over insignificant little things like edgy jokes that were made during the early 2010's online are being nice to her. This is madness!!

Start with WebMD page for weed. A few paragraphs down you will learn that weed can cause both psychosis & dissociative effects (which matches what the defendant described when she said things did not seem real...aka derealization).
Then examine the scientific studys that back the facts mentioned in the article.

Other people will get extremely paranoid on marijuana and think people are talk ing about them or watching them. I have a friend who smokes marijuana a few times a year, 15 minutes after he smokes marijuana he goes and closes all his blinds, his curtains, locks his doors, turns down the TV really low and walks from window to window peeking outside through the blinds because he thinks somebody is out there. With other people and very rarely in can induce a drug related psychosis

You are looking at her and thinking "I could never imagine just waking up and deciding to do that so there's no way she could"... That is a mistake. Psychopaths are not like you. They are incapable of empathy, regret or sorrow. They will literally tab you in the back and watch you expire while making a grocery list. They truly do not care about anyone or anything and will not think twice about ending you if it is even slightly convenient for them and they think they can get away with it.
They are basically biological machines and they look and act just like everyone else. Actually they are usually very well liked because they are experts at blending in and making people like them. They don't take off the mask until you are helpless and at their mercy.

This has happened to me. I was a braniac who took strong weed for the first time. I had an extreme trip just like this girl. I did not know what was real, and I could not control anything I was doing, I kept hallucinating an alternate reality that I was watching through a window... I could only remember parts of it. It's as if time stops, and you are walking, getting attacked by demons in an alternate reality. It's hard to explain... the bad trips often occur in people who are extremely smart or who have high iq, and I've read their smart brain just short circuits like this lady and the similar experience I had. And I'm not even religious...
Hope people can understand that these bad trips are not her fault. She had no control. It's an unfortunate phenomenon, and she should not be judged so harshly.

As someone who has, and had tried to kill myself, and threatened to kill my loved ones because I thought reality was fake, I understand how this could happen. More people should be aware that some individuals experience horrific psychosis on marijuana, especially as it becomes more popular.

There is a case in the same Cali county this one was from where a man got so drunk, went to his dad's girlfriend's house and killed her AND her mom and then fled. There was even less evidence that it was a drunken psychosis because he even tried to hide the murder weapon but he got off on the same defense. I heard voices and footsteps that weren't real, I was scared when this happened, and I decided not to touch a marijuana cigarette ever again! I feel terrible for Chad and his family, but I don't know why people don't hear that she very definitely didn't know what she was doing. She should not be legal to smoke pot like that again though and we need to think about the messaging around pot smoking, just as using other drugs. When I was seven, my fourteen year old cousin, whom I met for the first time when he was staying with my grandparents for the first time, handed me some odd-looking candies from deep within his jacket pocket. At least I asked him if they were candies as I crunched them, and he shrugged and walked away. They were pretty tasteless, not sweet, and very dry, chalky and crunchy, and I couldn't wait to get them swallowed as they weren't pleasant. We all went out to a summer event and as I got back in the car to leave after a very happy day, it was like lights out, and I woke up hours later, crying, devastated, but not knowing why, and everyone was angry at me, furious, and they were either ice cold or silent to me for pretty much the next two weeks, other than to remind me of how shocking I had been and how disappointed in me they were, but I did not remember a thing. I was so distraught, even the next morning, and everyone was so angry with me and I knew nothing. To this day, I remember nothing, until I woke up again hours later. Apparently, I fought my father tooth and nail, refusing to cooperate with anything, calling him names, made it extremely difficult for him to drive home, and shocked everyone. It has always bothered me all my life because I never had an explanation and it never happened again. I still feel the pang of no one believing me that I know nothing of that time and my cousin made me uncomfortable. All these years later, only about a week ago, I suddenly recalled the "candies" and suddenly, for the first time in close to fifty years, I made the link explaining why that happened to me all those years ago. My cousin was on Ritalin and I believe something else. I do not know if that was what the tasteless, chalky, sugarless, "candies" were.
