      PinnySkenis Depends some box switches are identical to Cherry MX switches but in my opinion are slightly better. Zealios v2 are INCREDIBLE as their tactile feedback is immense. All these switches make Cherry MX switches look like a mediocre switch in my opinion. They are not trash just there are better switches for the same price.

    I have watched a bazillion 'switch' videos and this is probably the best in terms of practicality and how it works in the real world. So many of these videos talk about scratchiness, smoothness, gaming and the sensation but very few have articulated what it feels like to use these on a daily basis and how it impacts fatigue. Well done!

    Red - silent but deadly
    Browns - finger feedback you can feel
    Blue - a sonata of typing

  • @musicofMEC
    @musicofMEC 5 лет назад +105

    I wanted to make another comment so....
    Get Red - if you want quieter keys, they will sound loud if you are not used to typing on a mechanical keyboard and so you'll probably end up smashing down on your keys for like the first week 😂 just relax flutter your fingers, and soon you'll feel like your typing on clouds
    Get Blue - if you like to type on keys that are straight away responsive, and that you can instantly realize when you clicked a key and just how much force it takes to click. Warning it is loud even if you softly press it down, u will hear a click Everytime if you bottom the key out. Again u can probably reduce the noise if you just apply less force.
    Get Brown - if you want a solid responsiveness from the key, but there is a "quiter click", it isn't really a click it's the key just bottoming out. So brown is a literal mix of red and blue but it leans more towards feeling like red with a bit of the responsiveness of a blue.
    Again mechanical keys will feel weird if you've never used them especially coming from a regular membrane keyboard (the keyboards u buy from Walmart Target for $10, like Logitech, etc). Hope this helps....

    • @tycoon7885
      @tycoon7885 2 года назад +3

      way too long.. here is simple :
      Blue: They make click sound along with the bump.. require more force to click on. You know you pressed a key when you hear that click or feel that bump. (my least favourite, annoyingly loud worse for gaming)
      Red: Just remove click sound and bump from Blue. This is the lightest to press requiring the least force. (my favourite, also best keys if you wanna make your keys sound thocky, best for gaming/work or office)
      Brown: Just remove click sound but bump feels lighter and you need less force to press the key than blues but tiny beat more force than Red's (My second fav semi gaming semi work/office)
      Finally, both reds and brown have no click sound and they almost sound similar (95% similar)

  • @hmf33

      @@stefxy682 oh man. This was the beginning of my keyboard journey. I've come a long way since and have dug way too deep down the rabbit hole 😅. Answer to ur question, yes I did end up getting browns. They're chill for a first decent mechanical board. When it comes to tactiles they really are the middle of the ground as far as how tactile they actually are when compared to other switches in the sane category. I'm using linears now - durock lavanders lubed with krytox 205g0.
      My next tactile switches are going to be between boba u4t or c3equalz kiwis. I have some linear c3equalz tangerines for my Space65 whenever I get it.
      I'll say after now having tried more switches I do tend to gravitate towards linears.

    I love brown switches, the tactile bump is way more important than it seems. It really does help a ton when typing, as my hands are less tired and it's much easier to register typos. And they're as good in gaming as red switches. I used to love red switches too, but after switching to brown ones I can't imagine myself ever going back to red. I think that brown ones are the safest beginners choice when it comes to mechanical keyboards. Even though I had tons of them I still love browns the most.

This, RUclips video gave me a really really good layout of how the keyboards are. So I will be getting a brown switch especially because I do like the clicky feeling but I don’t like it too loud. Gateron browns have a more noticeable bump than cherry browns imo. You still can’t really feel it unless you focus on the bump. Blues (I’m talking cherry, gateron, outemu, etc) tend to have a rattly click. Most non enthusiasts don’t notice it because they haven’t tried/heard other switches outside of the standard red, brown, blue, and black options. It’s rattly because the click is produced by a click jacket. Switches like Kailh Box White are superior to blues imo because the click is much more clearer as it’s produced by a metal click bar.

    I've had a Red Mechanical keyboard for years, I don't exactly agree with the whole "fatigue" thing, I've never ever experienced any sort of fatigue from typing, and I've typed a lot especially while gaming and playing World of Warcraft. The specific keyboard ive used is the Corsair Vengeance K Keyboard I believe it's called, (looks like the red one in the video). I also don't feel that you have to "push down all the way to know you've clicked the key" you can type and put just a slight amount of force with your fingers while you type, some people just tend to use a lot of force while they type like they are playing a very weighted piano (key) just type like a normal person, u don't need to Hulk smash your keys. Get a red if you want quite keys, u should be able to tell the force needed to register it's really not that complicated, one last thing I'm not trying to be a dick, I think his opinions were fantastic, and I would agree with most of his points I just don't think the fatigue is that accurate in my experience.

    • @MattieKB
      @MattieKB  5 лет назад +19

      Yeah, that comment will be really useful to people watching this video! And yes, I try to emphasize that these are MY PERSONAL opinions and experiences. In my experience my finger just fly a million miles an hour without fail on blues and browns, and with reds I struggle. But there are tons of people out there who love reds! So in the end I really reccommend that people get some hands on with different types of switches if they can before purchasing, and hopefully this video will get them going in the right direction based on their own opinions. And no, I don't think you are trying to put me down, that was a really helpful and insightful comment!

    I wish I found this before I bought RK68 red switches. I used to type using Razer's green switches (which equivalents to blue) and the small bump you mentioned doesn't exist in red switches so typing doesn't feel tactile and actually feels like I'm using a membrane keyboard. Also, the switch is too touch sensitive that resting my fingers on the keyboard causes it to click random letters or the spacebar even (especially in game) and I've been mistyping a lot ever since I started using red switches and I'm thinking of getting a brown one to get that tactile feel again.
